Scammer warning!
Posted a year agoWow, so I've been alerted to three separate scammers using my name in the last 48 hours >:( Thank you to the people who caught them and let me know about it, and to all of you, please be careful!!
I see FA has a post about this on their front page with excellent advice: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10882268
My name is long and has a British spelling in it ("sabre" rather than "saber") so it can be very easy to miss a letter out of place (sorry about that, lol!). Just remain vigilant, and remember:
1. I DO NOT use FA Notes and haven't for years, so if you get what looks like a Note from me, it's a scam!
2. I ALWAYS request payment using a Paypal invoice (after having first discussed the commission with you via email, I wouldn't just send a request out of the blue!)
3. My email address is ermineart (at) gmail.com, that's pretty much the only way I communicate...
...and 4. In case my email is hacked... anyone who has worked with me knows that I am pretty chill (and really, really slow ;P). I never harass my clients for payment or try to rush them.
Finally, there's the golden rule that has served me well all my life... if something seems too good to be true, it's probably fake! If I appear to be contacting you out of nowhere with an unbelievably good deal, then that's exactly what it is - unbelievable. Sorry ;P
We live in weird times, stay safe out there folks! <3

Holy moly...
Posted a year ago...where do the months go???? Sorry it's been so long without an upload, guys! I've been busy with my new job and with caring for my partner, who now has a hernia and a broken ankle to add to his medical maladies >_<
I have been quietly plugging away at my commission queue, though this is by far the longest it's ever taken me to get through one ;_; I am SO grateful to those clients for their continued patience! I'm looking forward to opening a few new commission slots at some point, but I'm going to wait until I've finished all my current commissions first this time. Given how long they've already been waiting, to do otherwise would be terribly unfair!
Here's what's left of my current in-progress queue:
ArmoredKangaroo - winning TF sequence YCH - 90% done
Rider and
Wilebobcat - ref sheets - 60% done
IncitedJester - Gutz commission - 30% done
Gasaraki2007 - jungle otters - 15% done
Hope you all have a good Easter/ spring break! ^_^

Various news and NOTE FOR CURRENT CLIENTS
Posted 2 years agoHere's the good news: thanks to the advice and support of folks here, I have managed to get an older version of Photoshop that will run on this computer, my older iMac. It's a little clunky, but I can art :3
Here's the bad news: after two weeks of tinkering in the Mac repair shop, the guys called a couple days ago and said it was no good. Not only could they not get my computer working again, they couldn't even salvage the data off it o_o Which was rather an unexpected blow. My dad's going to have a look at it when my parents get back from vacation next week, but if the Mac repair professionals couldn't fix it, I don't have very much hope.
SO... I've lost all my in-progress commissions, all my PSDs from about the last year (because I am AN IDIOT and only backed up my files about once a year, if that), and my commission spreadsheet with everyone's info, payments etc on it. I *think* most of my in-progress commissions were at the sketched stage, with the exception of Bethany the dalmatian (who was nearly finished, ARGH), Wile and Rider's ref sheets (which I had finished the flat colors for but STUPIDLY decided to wait till they were shaded to share >_<), and of course the TF sequence won by
ArmoredKangaroo, which is the one thing I'm actually able to work on right now as I hadn't yet started it when my computer died.
Which brings me to my IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CURRENT CLIENTS:
If you currently have an in-progress commission with me (even if I hadn't finished the sketch yet), could you please send a reply to our most recent commission communication, just to make sure I don't miss anyone? Also, if we had got as far as the sketch stage or further, email me back the most recent WIP I sent, whatever that was? This will allow me to a) remake a commission spreadsheet after piecing together email conversations and Paypal statements from the last year, and b) use the WIP to remake your commission, probably by tracing it or otherwise manipulating the sketch after blowing it back up to full size.
Finally, some life news: if you're wondering how I'm managing not to starve with how little work I've been able to get done lately, fear not, I'm not doing anything unsavory XD I had been toying with the idea of getting a part-time job for a while, and in fact just started a new job as a veterinary assistant a week ago, after doing a short school course and a 3-week practicum. I have no intention of quitting furry art, it's just that I've been saying for years "I don't want to charge any more for my art, I just need to get quicker at it", and have nevertheless gotten, if anything, even slower. Besides which, I prefer doing art when there isn't quite so much riding on it (ie. rent, food, etc... :P). So far, I'm really enjoying the change, and I think it'll be good for me - after 15 years of working solo at home, I'm finally doing something physical, interacting with real animals and ...*shudder* ...people XD And it's certainly worked out well in terms of timing, giving me something new and positive to focus on while dealing with this disastrous computer situation!
Thanks for your continued support and patience <3 <3 <3

Commission delays
Posted 2 years agoApologies to my current clients for commission delays again ;__; I've just had my ass thoroughly whooped by a flu for the last week and a half, and on top of that my work computer has had to go to the computer doctor >_< It's been having a lot of trouble turning on for the past few months, getting progressively worse, and finally it just wouldn't start up no matter how many times I tried. I'm pretty cheesed off about it cuz I only bought it a year ago, it was an open-box sale though so no warranty. The Mac doctor is running diagnostics on it now, they said it doesn't sound good :( Hopefully I can at least get my files off it, if it comes to it - I have a lot of in-progress commissions on there! And yes, I was a stubborn fool and refused to use Photoshop's new cloud-saving system because "I don't trust the Cloud". What a moron of a mustelid I am.
I had hoped to be able to use my old iMac in the meantime, but apparently it's no longer good enough to run Photoshop - graphics card out of date, not enough RAM, various other complaints, UGH. There's got to be a way around that, surely - I happily Photoshopped on this machine for YEARS with no issue, why did they have to go and evolve on me?? Or maybe I can use Badger's computer, I dunno :S
Anyway, suffice to say, work has been interrupted and I'm very sorry <3 <3 I'll get back up and arting as soon as I can!

Opening a few commission slots
Posted 2 years agoJust a few! Probably no more than 2-3, to keep me afloat while I finish up my current batch.
I'd particularly like to do some more PG stuff this time, my DeviantArt page for non-pr0n stuff is looking a bit neglected XD I gotta have something to show my family members when they ask what I've been working on, after all! That said, feel free to toss an NSFW idea my way if you want, I might still go for it if it sounds fun ;3
My price chart is here.
ToS is here.
Commission applications must be sent in by email.
My email address is ermineart (at) gmail -dot- com.
In your application email, please make sure you include:
- your name and FA username if you have one
- a description of what you'd like to commission
- a description or ref pic(s) for each character involved (if you're including a friend's character, make sure you have their permission or know them well enough to confidently surprise them ;P)
You can keep the descriptions brief for the initial application if you like, just be aware that I won't be able to give you an exact quote until I get the rest of the details.

Quick note to current clients!
Posted 3 years agoJust a quick note to my current clients to say, once again, thank you so very much for your patience! <3 Christmas is always a time when work slows right down, but this year it was compounded by various illness troubles, so I haven't been able to work much at all these last few weeks. I can't focus properly on my arting when I'm stressed out or unwell, and lately it seems that's quite a lot of the time >.< I am, in fact, thinking of getting a part-time job as a veterinary assistant in the not-too-distant future, to help smooth over those times when I can't get my head in the game for creative stuff. Don't worry though, I'm not quitting furry art! <3 I love it too much!
I hope the new year finds all of you well and happy ^.^

Next queue in 2 weeks!
Posted 3 years agoHeads up guys! I'll be opening up a new commission queue on Sunday, October 30th (and no, they don't have to be Halloween themed lol! At the speed I work, they wouldn't be done till Christmas anyway :P)
As always, you're welcome to email me anytime - ermineart[at]gmail.com - to get a quote on a potential commission, but I can't reserve any slots ahead of time as that wouldn't be fair.

Commissions: good news and bad news
Posted 3 years agoHi folks! So, the good news is, I'm finally just about done my previous commission queue and ready to open a new one!
My next in-progress/ wait list will open Monday, April 4th, a little over a week from now.
As always, you're welcome to email me for a quote in the meantime, but bear in mind I cannot guarantee you a slot in the queue as that wouldn't be fair to everyone else.
The bad news is, I've had to up my prices a little bit :( I just did my 2021 taxes and was dismayed to realize that I only made $12,000 last year x_x I've been really bummed out about it, to be honest. If Badger hadn't been paying 100% of our rent all year, I don't know what I would have done. So, I've updated my 2019 price chart and increased my prices by about 20% across the board. I hate having to do this guys, but a weasel's gotta eat! >_<

Posted 4 years agoI thought you guys - particularly those of you in the queue - would appreciate an update on where everything is at in my commission queue, having just uploaded a bunch of finished commissions :3 I know, it would be nice if I had a continually up-to-date list; but as you may have noticed, I'm ...not the greatest at keeping things up to date, LOL. Part-time woozle
Posted 4 years agoHey folks! This message is mostly for my current and upcoming clients, but also anyone else who wants to contact me over the next 6-8 weeks. Our building is having major renos done to the parking garage, which happens to be located right next to our suite. We have to park our car at a friend's house across town for 6+ weeks, it's going to be extremely noisy and stressful here, and my Badger partner may not be able to work in all that time as his job is on the phone. We may end up leaving for days at a time to go stay with friends or family, just to get a break from it all.
SO, the relevant bit: while my job doesn't technically require me being able to listen to anything (and I certainly can't afford to just take 6 weeks off), this is all still going to be very disruptive, so email and commission times are going to be longer than usual. If you're used to working with me, you'll know that I'm already pretty slow on both counts, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your patience! <3 <3 <3
We're kicking off the construction by going camping for the rest of the week - something we've been meaning to do all summer anyway, it's been far too long since we got out into nature properly - so I'll be off the internet till next week. Cheerio!

Posted 4 years agoMeant to post this yesterday, whoops! Commissions are now closed, as always it will take me a day or two to work through all the emails and put my queue together. Thanks so much to everyone who applied! <3 <3
Commissions are OPEN!
Posted 4 years agoHere's the info again:
Commission applications must be sent in by email.
My email address is ermineart (at) gmail -dot- com.
In your application email, please make sure you include:
- your name and FA username if you have one
- a description of what you'd like to commission
- a description or ref pic(s) for each character involved (if you're including a friend's character, make sure you have their permission or know them well enough to confidently surprise them ;P)
You can keep the descriptions brief for the initial application if you like, just be aware that I won't be able to give you an exact quote until I get the rest of the details.
I usually ask for half the payment up front and half when the sketch is done and you've approved it for colouring, though I'm happy to break it into further multiple payments if needed, particularly for larger projects.
As always, I'll keep applications open for at least 24 hours, to give everyone a chance to get in there if they want to. I will then form my queue based partly on first-come-first-served, partly on what I most feel like working on, and partly on keeping a good balance between different subjects and themes.
Here's my price chart...
...and ToS

As always, I'll keep applications open for at least 24 hours, to give everyone a chance to get in there if they want to. I will then form my queue based partly on first-come-first-served, partly on what I most feel like working on, and partly on keeping a good balance between different subjects and themes.

Next commission date will be...........
Posted 4 years ago........ Saturday June 19th!! :D
I do still have a few ongoing projects left to finish up - thanks to those clients for their patience! - but we're almost there, and as usual the need for rent money forces the issue >.<

Hope you guys are all doing well! <3

Taking a few REF SHEET commissions!
Posted 4 years agoEDIT: Wow, that got a bigger response than I was expecting! Thanks guys <3 I'll just take on a few for now, but everyone else please do re-submit your applications when I open my next commission queue! :3
Heh, yep, it's that time again - I'm nearing the end of my current commission queue, and I need to fill a few extra slots to pay the rent while I finish these up :P I always like doing ref sheets, they're straightforward and I get to focus on character design and detail, my favourite subjects!
So, hit me up if you're interested in getting a ref sheet commission from me - ermineart@gmail.com. I'll only be taking a few, but of course I will also be taking a whole new commission queue soon ("soon" in ermine-art terms, it'll be at least 3-4 weeks yet :P), so if you don't get one of these slots you can still re-submit your application then :3
Thanks guys! And hey, happy Easter! :3

Note to my current clients:
Posted 4 years agoJust wanted to thank you all for your continued patience and kindness! Work's been even slower than usual these past few weeks because my Badger partner has been ill again, so Badger-care has muscled in on some of my work hours. Well, that, and the fact that when he's not working, it's so very tempting to hang out and watch TV with him instead of working myself, we do live in a small 1-bedroom apartment after all XP
So don't worry, I am still here, and still plugging away at the arting, just very slowly! And thank you again! <3 I'm so incredibly grateful for the people I work with here in the fandom, you guys are wonderful!!

Commissions are OPEN! (now closed)
Posted 5 years agoEDIT: Commissions are now definitely closed! I got a lot more applications than I'd expected, you guys are amazing!! I'll try to get as many of you onto this list as possible <3 I'll be going through the applications this week, thank you for your patience and for your enthusiasm! :D
Yay!! Time to put together a new commission queue ^_^
All the info you need to apply for a slot is here.
I'll be keeping commissions open today and tomorrow at least. This is to give everyone a fair chance at applying, no matter your timezone or schedule.
I will then put together my new queue over the next week (I don't generally work on weekends - pro tip for anyone trying to be self-employed, make a schedule for yourself, stick to it, and include days off or you'll go crazy!)

Next commission opening date!
Posted 5 years agoWoohoo, at last!! How is everyone doing? You folks in the US managing to stay sane amid the chaos? Well, relatively sane I mean, we are furries after all ;3
I'm finally ready to take on a new commission queue next week! You can send in your commission application by email on Friday-Saturday the 16th-17th. I might keep commissions open longer, I know things might be a bit slow because of Covid (as they should be! Rent and food are more important than furry art!). I do also need to keep my commission queue short though, given how long it takes me to finish the average commission these days, so perhaps it'll balance out XP
My email address is ermineart (at) gmail -dot- com.

Let me know if your commission is going to be a Christmas present for someone, I'll make sure it gets done in time ^_^

Finally, you are very welcome to email me in the meantime if you'd like a quote or have any questions, but I can't guarantee you a slot in the queue ahead of time, that wouldn't be fair.
Much love my furry/ scaley/ feathery/ gooey friends, and stay safe! <3

Down with the sickness :P
Posted 5 years agoJust a heads-up to my current clients... well, a somewhat belated heads-up... I came down with a 'flu a few days ago and will probably be out of action for at least a few days yet :/ I dunno if it's the virus, feels like just a regular flu to me, but a regular flu is still enough to put me off my art game. Which is too bad, as I'll be spending even more time shut in my apartment than usual for the next week or two, self-quarantine and all :P
Stay safe and take care of yourselves everyone!

Commission queue is full!
Posted 6 years agoActually it technically isn't, but my inbox sure is, wow! You guys are the best <3 <3 <3 Apologies in advance for how long it's going to take me to get through all these emails, I got at least five times as many applications this time as I did the last time I opened up, I was totally unprepared lol! And I still have a few commissions to finish up from the last batch, I'll be alternating between those and emails all week (cuz my weasel brain gets too easily confused if I try to tackle too many emails at a time XD).
What a great start to the new year though, I feel so encouraged and excited to plunge back into arting after the usual holiday lazyness around Christmas and New Year's ^_^ Thank you again!!

Posted 6 years agoHooray, at last!!! :D I'm opening up a new commission queue!
If you'd like to apply for a slot, please email me at ermineart@gmail.com. Make sure you include at least a rough idea of what you'd like and a ref or description for the character(s) involved, I can't sign you up for a slot without knowing what it is!

Posted 6 years agoHuzzah, it's finally that time again!! XD Goodness, it sure does take me a while to get through these.
I'll be taking on new commissions starting one week from today - that's Saturday, Jan 4th.
As always, you're welcome to email me before then if you have any questions or would like a quote on a commission idea :3

Couple more slots if anyone wants em :3
Posted 6 years agoSlots filled, thanks again!! <3
Being sick for a week put me behind schedule and rent's due again (how do the months slip by so quickly these days?? Getting older sucks >.<), so I can take a couple more ref sheet slots if anyone's interested :3
To my current clients, again, thank you so much for your patience, I'll be getting things moving again this week!
More delays >.<
Posted 6 years agoJust sending out a huge thank-you to my current clients who are being so very patient! I've been laid out by a nasty 'flu all week and haven't been able to catch up on my work yet :( With the weekend still to recover, I should definitely be back in the arting seat on Monday... for now, I'm gonna send you all my love and crawl back to bed >_<
