So....
Posted 14 years agoSo apparently Ian and I are currently what they call "rubber-tramps". I wonder what they are gonna call us when we start our bike trip.... Cycle tramps??
WHERE IZ SAWCHEE NAOW!?!?
Posted 14 years agoI'm back in NH XD Or atleast for a few weeks. Last week, Ian, Charlotte, Spore and I hopped into the Subaru and sped off from AZ with our two bikes attached awkwardly to the back, made a brief stop in St. Louis to see my in-laws, and then we rolled home to ol' New England :3 We're back in our tent in the woods up in NH, but I stop by my mom and dad's to shower, visit, use internet, etc. so I'll be on here, but unfortunately I won't be uploading any new art for a while :/
Then in June we're going on our BIIIIIIG BIKE TRIP to Oregon. YAAAAY!!!
Miss you guys! <3

Spore needs surgery
Posted 14 years ago No, unlike everyone else on FA who's pet needs surgery, this is not me begging for money. We're okay as far as that goes. I just need to vent. Spore, my cat, somehow lost the very end of his tail and now the bone is sticking out. I suspected it earlier in the week while petting him, but he never allowed me to get close enough to see. He went into the vet today to get his vaccines, and I told the vet about my concerns. She cleaned the wound and sure enough, under all the dried bloody fur was his tail bone.
So, he goes in Thursday to have the end of his tail amputated.
As far as how it happened, there's a few possibilities. My first guess would be the pomeranians that live here. Not in ANYWAY aggressive or dangerous, but they do like to rough house with him. Maybe one of them snagged his tail in play and he bolted suddenly. Who knows. Being an indoor/outdoor cat I was expecting it to be only a matter of time before something happened to him though, since that's the risks of letting your cat outdoors. Probably one of many "battle scars" to come in his lifetime I'm sure.

Commissions and stuff
Posted 14 years agoI'm down to the last few people I owe commissions to (thank God) and wanted to let those who have been very patiently awaiting art from me, that I will be done with ALL of these by the end of April, as Ian and I are leaving on the 27th to head back out east where I won't have access to my tablet. Below is a list of the people I owe commissions to. If I've forgotten anyone, PLEASE get in touch with me ASAP and remind me.

Thanks again for your patience guys!

One year ago today!
Posted 14 years agoOne year ago today Ian and I decided to trust our instincts and take that bizarre leap of faith that completely changed my life for the better. I love you more then anything, Ian! Happy Anniversary!
DISCUSSION TYME!!!
Posted 14 years agoWhat do ya'll think about this 2012 thing? Do you think it's bogus like the whole Y2K thing and every other Apocalypse in history we were suppose to have, or do you think this is really it and we're screwed? TALK TO ME PEOPLE, I'M BORED XD
Question for those who know a lot about Subarus
Posted 14 years agoIan and I are looking into getting a camper RV for next year, and while we've found a lot of them you can just drive yourself, we were thinking about getting a 5th wheel and were curious as to weather or not our 96 Subaru Outback could tow one of those. We've got the manual, but it's lost who knows where, and we can't seem to find the answer online anywhere.
So, who wants to adopt Charlotte's sister? :D
Posted 14 years agoI recently found one of Charlotte's siblings in Nashville, TN while browsing Petfinder.com. Her name is Baby Girl and she's a pitbull/ACD mix somewhere between the ages of 5 - 8. She's house broken, mellow, get's along with other dogs and cats, spayed, and isn't a house destroyer. She originally belonged to a homeless couple for a few years then was given to a family who let her run around on the on ramps of the interstate before they decided to hand her over to Animal Control because supposedly she was killing cats. She has been living at a cat sanctuary with 20 cats or so for the past year, so obviously she's not a cat killer.
I would adopt this dog myself if my current situation allowed, but I really can't :/ If you're in the TN area and are looking for an awesome dog, PLEASE consider her. It really breaks my heart to think a dog that's a kin to Charlotte has had such a rough life. If interested, or know of someone who may be interested, note me!

Why I love my husband :3
Posted 14 years ago*last night after an uncharicteristical fit of low self esteem regarding my looks*
Ian: Becky, people think my beard makes me look like a terrorist, but do you think I let that bother me? Not in the least (referring to a joke we have about his beard).
Me: well, being a terrorist doesn't make you ugly! I've seen some pretty hot terrorists!
Ian: And I've seen some pretty hot women, but you're STILL hotter then any of them.
Me: You're trained to say that.
Ian: I'm trained to THINK that way. Becky when I see women that cosmo says are hot, I see a bunch of skanky bitches. When I see you I see the most beautiful women in the world. I'm the only one you have to impress, and you've already done that.
Me: ;0;

Back to work on art!! :D
Posted 14 years agoA new power cable arrived for my laptop today, which means I'll be able to charge it and work on commissions and other art again! I'll upload a few things tomorrow morning before heading to my actual real job and finish up what I owe people throughout the week, HOPEFULLY clearing out my que before my trip to Tuscon this weekend!
Sachi is on a rampage >:O (WARNING: Rant/venting ahead)
Posted 14 years agoYou want a good way to seriously get on my bad side and turn me into mega bitch? Insult my animals. Charlotte was attacked by a chocolate lab today at the dog park. Even though nothing to this extent has ever happened before, I normally go with Ian just incase. However today we got busy in the morning and by the time I was able to go, Ian had to be at work. I decided to have Ian drop us off, and took Charlotte in by myself. When we arrived there were three dogs there. Two labs and some Shepherd puppy mix. These dogs were owned by three different people, but all seemed to be friends.
Charlotte came in and checked out the other dogs, and went on her way to go sniff about and mingle. After she went about marking the place, she began tumbling around with the shepered puppy for a while. One of the labs there was just fine with her and ignored her, but the other one, a dominant female...you could tell this dog felt a bit threatened by the alpha female vibe Charlotte was putting out.
When I go to the dog parks, I watch Charlotte like a hawk for this reason, to make sure she herself is being nice and to make sure other dogs are being nice to her. I KNOW her body language and I can tell when tension is there. Charlotte was just hanging out in the clearing, about 10 feet away from me when the chocolate lab walked up beside her and the two made eye contact. I knew at that second something was going to happen but before I had the chance to react, the lab threw herself onto Charlotte, and started mauling her. We're talking a 100 pound lab on 35 pound Charlotte that WANTED to hurt her.
Charlotte won... I'm sure as hell not bragging nor am I proud, but Charlotte some how turned the tables VERY quickly on this dog and kicked it's ass. The only way I can figure this is the breed mixes in her. She has the "never back down" attitude, athletic build, and bite of a pitbull, as well as the tenacious speed, energy, and aggression of the cattle dog. Combine those things with the fact that she was a street dog for Lord knows how long and was probably very use to defending herself against other dogs... Yeah, I'm sure the fat, aggressive but inexperienced lab didn't have much of a chance.
The fight lasted for about 1 minute, in which the dogs carried on with each other from one end of the park to the other, smashing into trees and picnic tables. Halfway through the fight, Charlotte was on top of this dog, with her jaws attached to it's face. I reached out several times to grab at Charlotte's back legs to pull her back but she was so fucking fast I couldn't get a hold of her. The fight finally ended when Charlotte was on top of this dog with her jaws clenched down hard on the other dogs face, the lab SCREAMING in pain and the owner of the lab was able to swoop down and grab Charlotte. We had to pry her off this dog with her still growling. The guy handed her to me, and I took her a few feet away to check her over. She was fine. The lab however had a gash on the side of her face from where Charlotte bit her and wouldn't let go. The owner sat there petting his dog and calming her down when all of a sudden the lab turned around and attacked ANOTHER dog that was standing a few feet away! WHAT THE FUCK. Charlotte, who was on high alert and full of adrenaline, I decided to take home at that point.
I originally didn't have any hard feelings towards the owner or his dog. Shit happens. They're dogs. No one was severely hurt. As I leashed up Charlotte and got ready to leave however, I over heard the guy say to his dog/friends "It's okay, no one is going to hurt you. Yes, I know. Some dogs are really mean, but you're not" and turned and glared at me. Fucking fire went up in my eyes and every hair on my body stood on end. The NERVE of this guy!! I'm sure there's far more mature ways I could have handled this, but I was rip shit and just couldn't hold my tongue. The following was the conversation that that happened.
Me: You DO realize that MY dog was not the one that started that, right?
Owner: Excuse me?
Me: MY dog didn't start that fight. YOUR dog attacked HER. Don't go telling people my dog is mean when this was far from her fault!
Owner: Well sorry, but your dog was the one that had my dog by the face, and it was my dog that was crying!
Me: ....She was DEFENDING herself! You get yourself knocked over full force by an aggressive 100 pound Labrador that's OBVIOUSLY out to hurt you, and you'd be fighting for your life too! If you had been WATCHING your animal rather then chit chatting with friends, you would have saw that! Sorry your dog was hurt, but this is NOT Charlotte's fault!
The owner muttered something hateful under his breath to his friends, and I walked out of the park with Charlotte, before things got worse. It's about a 20 minute walk back to the house, and Charlotte was big time on edge. And other dogs that walked by on the path could sense that... I didn't need a second dog fight breaking out, so I quickly got her home as fast as I could and had her go lay down in the bedroom to cool off for a while. She's sleeping now.
I on the other hand am all kinds of wound up. Charlotte has NEVER gotten into a fight like that before. Ever. If it's one gripe I have against dog parks, it's not so much the dogs that come in, but the people. I'm sure I'll go back again sometime, but I'm a little put off for the time being.

Fawkin weird noises >.>
Posted 14 years agoSo I'm sitting here, at my mother in-law's house, all alone with the dogs, working on commissions, and I KEEP HEARING THIS WEIRD THUMPING NOISES. I freak myself out so easily x_x
I'm sure no one really cares but me, but....
Posted 14 years agoIt's official. Charlotte is mixed with a Pitbull and an Australian Cattle Dog. Not...exactly my ideal mixed breed (I really dislike cattle dogs...) but a LOT of things make sense now that didn't before. And in any case, she's still Charlotte <3

Note to commissioners - IMPORTANT
Posted 15 years agoThere is going to be a very brief pause in art commissions due to an issue I'm having with my laptop adapter. It's broken and due to the fact that the battery life on this thing SUCKS ASS and drains within 20 minutes, I'm afraid I have to wait until we're able to order a new adapter for it before I can resume any more art. I'm assuming it will only be a few days to a week, but yeah.
Babble
Posted 15 years agoHmmm. My life has kind of calmed down a bit these past few weeks. Although I tried like hell to try and find work when I first got here, Ian needs the car to commute, so unless I can find something within walking distance or biking distance, I'm pretty much just going to be relying on art commissions and possibly charms to help me make some cash. So my days consists of....spending time with Charlotte and Spore and working on art. Oh AND the new Pomeranian puppy that Ian's mom brought home a few days ago. SOOOOOOOOO FUCKING CUTE!!
This summer Ian and I are going to attempt to ride bikes from NH to the west coast with Charlotte. He's a LOT more experienced with long distance bike riding as I am, but I think I would have a good chance at this if we pace ourselves. Originally we were just going to hitch hike, but I thought this idea would be a lot better for us. For one, we'd get into shape a HELL of a lot faster, we'd experience a lot more, and we'd never be stuck in a town due to no rides because we could just ride out of a city if we didn't like it. Prior to Ian's job starting up, we were climbing atleast half way up Mount Elven everyday to get back in shape for this, but now with his 12 hour shifts, I have to find other ways to exercise. I've been doing BELLY DANCING with Ian's mom XD It's a LOT of fun and I actually think it may be something I want to get more into. Dancing for me, once I get past the self-conscious stage, is about as fun as art.

Posted 15 years agoSo as of January, the wonders of tax season have landed on us, and my husband, who is a tax accountant, has jumped head first into his work and is NEVER HOME because he works RIDICULOUSLY LONG FUCKING HOURS. He leaves really early in the morning and get's home really late at night, eats, then goes right to sleep. I think I saw him a total of, uh, 8 conscious hours this week? *sigh* I know I really shouldn't complain. I was well aware this is what would happen come tax season, and he's making a SHIT LOAD of money, and it's only going to be until April, and that there are people out there who have it far worse, such as those who's spouses are in the military, but.... I miss him so much u_u I'm living in a town that I have never been to before, at my mother in-laws house, and I know absolutely NO ONE, so it's not like I just just head off and hang out with friends. If it weren't for Charlotte, I'd go absolutely crazy.
So, is there anyone else out there who's in the same boat as myself, and if so, what do you do to keep yourself sane?

I am so frakin pissed off! >:O
Posted 15 years agoSo I was told today on a dog forum that taking Charlotte out in public around other dogs was very stupid and ignorant and that she was going to end up killing someone elses dog. The reason of this? No reason other then she's part pitbull. Has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that she's not in the least bit dog aggressive or the fact that she typically tries to avoid confrontation, or that she's ridiculously well trained. nope, she's a pitbull and therefore to dangerous to be anywhere near other animals. It wasn't anything against Charlotte so much, but just pitbulls in general. The funny thing about this is, this was on a pitbull forum. I mean, seriously. Are you THAT afraid of the breed, and if so, why would you own one? It's people with that exact mind set that give the dogs just as bad of a name as those that fight them. It really chaps my ass.
