Commission Help
Posted 17 years agoI want to commission a tshirt design inspired by the movie Sweeney Todd. It would be a restaurant shirt (like this one: https://www.hudsonsonthedocks.com/p.....cts/tshirt.gif ), with the words "Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pies" around the outside with the picture of a pie in the middle with fingers sticking out of the crust, and under the circular part, it would say "The Worst Pies in London" in some fort of basic print.
I would either like to commission the shirt itself, or the artwork to have put onto a shirt by CafePress or SpreadShirt later.
But I have no idea who to talk to about a commission of this nature. Any ideas? I'd rather not spend more than $30-$40 on this

BIRTHDAY PLANS
Posted 17 years agoMy birthday plans have changed.
If I spoke to you PERSONALLY about plans for Sunday (if we talked on IM, the phone, or in person), I would like to inform you that plans have changed, and I NEED TO KNOW if you are coming. We are hanging out at my house from noon until 5 pm, then we're planning on taking the group (whoever is at my house and is interested) to the Crabtree Kanki at 5:30 (we will be leaving my house at 5) for dinner. We'll be back at my house at about 7:30.
If you will be joining us for dinner, I NEED TO KNOW AS SOON AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE so that we can make reservations, to get everybody seated together when we get there.

Posted 17 years agoMy body is no longer staging an intervention.... it's all-out mutiny. Borderline self-destruct.
The rash is EVERYWHERE. It burns, it looks horrible, and it is EVERYWHERE. The swelling hasn't stopped, the drugs haven't helped.
And I'm taking the hint. As of January first, I'm changing my life completely. No more putting crap into my body. Fruits and vegetables and multivitamins every day. No more sodas, water and non-fat milk only, maybe Crystal Light when I've been good. No more sweets, no more candy, only "diet" treats like SlimFast bars. No more saturated fats, oils, grease, fried foods...
I AM FUCKING MY BODY UP AND IT IS TIME TO STOP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
360 POUNDS IS TOO MUCH.
...but I can't do this alone. And I don't know how to ask for help... Please help me.
I'm seriously scared, guys....

Posted 17 years agofrom "Without You"
from the musical "RENT"
Without you, the hand gropes
the ear hears
the pulse beats
Without you, the eyes gaze
the legs walk
the lungs breathe
The mind churns
the heart yearns
the tears dry without you
Life goes on
but I'm gone
'cause I die, without you
without you
without you
without you.....
I can't stop crying and listening to this song... I know I have no right to bitch about my life, but I hate knowing that I won't get the handful of things I would kill to have for Christmas this year... My mother... The arms of the one I love... Someone of my very own... The money to pay back my father... A body I don't have to constantly worry about the health of... A better relationship with my dad, the ability to talk freely to him... The courage to tell my family just half of the things they don't know about me... The guts to tell my boss what I really think of him (and save a lot of other people the grief of having to deal with him in the future)... A better family situation for a friend of mine who is being kicked out of their home in the near future, and all the answers to how I'm going to help them make their life work....
I do appreciate the things I've been given, and the things I've worked hard for, but... I don't know. I really don't.
Maybe I should consider myself lucky for the things that I DO have, but I just can't stop thinking about the things that I DON'T.
I want, I want, I WANT
I feel so weak and selfish right now, and I HATE it.

Birthday Girl and Christmas Cards
Posted 17 years agoMy 21st birthday is rapidly approaching (December 30th), and I am planning on hosting a get-together at my house.
Who: Whoever is reading this! Friends from DA, FA, LJ, Carolina Furs, etc
What: A pirate-themed birthday celebration. We'll be watching the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, chilling out, drawing, eating delicious food, etc. Feel free to come dressed in your pirate garb!
Where: My house, at the address below. (For those of you not exactly in the immediate area, Cary is just outside of Raleigh)
When: Sunday, December 30th, from noon to about 10 pm (if you're not interested in being here the whole time, you're more than welcome to just drop by and hang out for a bit... I realize that not everyone is all for sitting through 8 or so hours of movie)
How: Due to the attendance of both minors and my father, alcohol WILL NOT be served at this party (despite me reaching the magical mystical age of being able to purchase such things). What should you bring? We're making a potluck event out of this, so everyone should bring something we can eat, drink, or otherwise imbibe. Greatly appreciated are chips, soft drinks, hot dishes and sides (like macaroni and cheese or buffalo wings), cookies, snacks, desserts, so on and so forth. We may or may not cook on the grill at some point, it depends mostly on the weather. If we decide not to grill out, sandwich supplies (meats, cheeses, peanut butter and jelly) will be made available, instead. It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring a couple of bucks ($5 at most) to help cover the cost of such items.
Gifts are not required, but always welcome. =3 I like stuff. (If you are intent on getting me something, my wish list can be found here: http://sakura-merquise.livejournal.com/82927.html )
PLEASE RSVP, AS IT WILL GIVE ME AN IDEA OF HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING, SO I KNOW HOW MUCH STUFF TO BUY.
To RSVP or address any questions, feel free to contact me by any of the means below:

Fursona Meme
Posted 18 years agoWhat is the name of your fursona?
Sakky
Where did the name of your Fursona come from?
I started out as "Sakura Merquise" (hence the username I use EVERYWHERE, and yes, I was a Gundam Wing fangirl), but the name shortened and evolved into "Sakky" while I was running my own RP chat on Yahoo for about 2-3 years. My regular visitors kept shortening the name to "Sakky", and so I just kind of kept it.
What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
A wolger, or a wolf-tiger hybrid. I've always been a fan of daoism/taoism and the balance of yin and yang, and realized that two of my favorite animals, the wolf and the tiger represented two very different sides of myself. The wolf represented my more aggressive, alpha-female side, the side that stands up and fights for my place and keeps a protective eye on my friends (or, to match the wolf metaphor, my pack, I guess you would say). The tiger represents my more laid-back, gentle, playful self, a nurturing maternal figure... an oversized housecat, if you will. The two sides balance me out, and so I chose a mix of the two.
What color is your fursona and why? Hair/fur/eyes/etc.
The fur pattern is based off of a tiger, since I chose a more wolfish body, and is basically identical to a tiger's fur pattern, except that it is grey where it would typically be orange, with identifying markings on the face and tail. The hair/"headfur" color is an almost greyish blue, sort of a "cadet blue" or something like that. The only reason I chose the blue/grey color scheme was because it looked better than the scheme of varied oranges, yellows, and blondes that I tried at the time that I was developing the character. Also, the eyes are a unique feature that match my own, one is blue, the other is green. The difference is a little harder to tell in person than it is in the character, and so my eyes are listed as "hazel" on my driver's license, since they lack a single distinguishable color (though I have had plenty tell me that my eyes are a bright blue). I chose the eye color because I wanted to put something into this character that reflected me in real life.
What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your irl personality?
My character pretty much is me.
What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you irl?
For a while, I drew my character with the various jewelry that I wore constantly, but I don't think I wear -any- of those items anymore... My character does carry the same giant pink crayon that I'm slowly becoming known for at various conventions, which also became the name of my website, Pink Crayon Studios.
What is one thing your fursona would say to you if you could meet?
She'd probably wonder why we're not the same build (despite my attempts to draw her with some more meat on her bones... I AM getting there...)
How has your fursona changed over the years?
She started off as a mostly-human character (a wolf-tiger demon) when I began writing short stories (usually anime fanfiction), and I began to view her as more of an animal-like character and the wolger character just kind of evolved from there. The stripe patterns have changed and morphed into the (mostly) consistent pattern that I use now, and I've added in things like my glasses and changed the hair a few times to match mine, as well as wardrobe. I took her wardrobe from being something you'd see on an anime character to something you'd see me wear on an average day (which has changed over the years, as well).
How long have you had this fursona?
About 10 years now.
Would you like to be more like your fursona?
I intend to get a tattoo of some of her stripes at some point, though where on my body I haven't decided yet.

I think...
Posted 18 years agoI think I have an unhealthy obsession with both spirals and stripes.
I feel constantly compelled to draw spirals, and I'm constantly attracted to anything striped. I keep buying striped clothes. I'd spend more on striped decor if I could afford it... It's hard to find clothes and things with spirals on them... Must find more spirals. This is getting progressively worse.
Thoughts? Am I just crazy? x_x;

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat...
Posted 18 years agoThat's right, boys and girls. The time is swiftly approaching for me to send out Christmas/holiday cards!
If you would like a card, simply leave a comment on my LJ with your mailing address, and I'll be sure to ship one out to you. Please specify which holiday you celebrate if you have a preference. All replies containing addresses will be screened. The entry is here: http://sakura-merquise.livejournal.com/79414.html
Also, if you leave me a link to a reference pic (color, pleeeeeease) of your character, you'll get an original piece of holiday art from me in your card!
PS - If you click over to my LJ from another website (like FurAffinity or DeviantArt) and do not have a LiveJournal account, simply leave an "Anonymous" comment, and make sure you indicate your name/user ID/whatever I know you by in your comment.

Upcoming Weekend of Supreme Awesome
Posted 18 years agoOh god, so tired. Working right at 40 hours this week... all opening shifts, except for Sunday (I'm closing, of course x_x; ). I'm getting sick of at least one (if not more) of our new trainees. =/
This week is gonna suck great green monkey balls until late late friday night when SEAN AND APRIL COME TO TOWN. Chinese food, outrageous sex, and cuddle pile are likely to ensue. Followed by the arrival of the ever-fabulous ALICE and FOXXCROSS and whomever else shows up on Saturday (PS - we're meeting at SAS Soccer Park to take the shuttle to the fairgrounds at 5 PM - call me if you need info or directions, my cell is 919 390 5914). NICOLE, what are you doing this weekend? ;_; We're hitting the NC State Fair with JAVAKAT and JBOY (minus Miss Alice, who has a dungeon-warming to host in her new apartment. I shall have to remember to pick up a deep-fried snickers for her).
BRING IT THE FUCK ON, I'M PUMPED!

NC State Fair 2007
Posted 18 years agoIt looks like I'll be hitting the State Fair on Saturday, October 13 with a couple of friends. GET THIS DAY OFF FROM WORK AND COME TO THE FAIR WITH ME, BITCHES! Time of day has yet to be decided, but we'll probably go mid to late afternoon and just kinda cruise around the fairgrounds throughout the afternoon and evening, maybe stay for the fireworks. <3
If you're interested in joining, MAKE SURE YOU LET ME KNOW! CALL ME and make arrangements, my cell number is 919 390 5914.
More later on times and where to meet up. We'll probably take the park-and-ride shuttle from SAS Soccer Park in Cary, since it's a lot easier (and cheaper) than trying to find parking AT the fairgrounds.

Since I can't be a world traveler...
Posted 18 years ago(coz, you know, you need money for that...)
I'd like for everyone to go to their local grocery store/drug store/tourist trap and buy a post card (it can be as bland or as wild or funny as you want), put a stamp on it, and write me a note or draw a doodle, and then send the card to me at the address below:
Kat "Sakky" McDonald
707 Madison Ave
Cary, NC 27513
I want to decorate a wall of my bedroom with the postcards that people send me. If you send me a postcard, I'll do a digital doodle for you! <3
PS - If you want me to send you a postcard in return, put your return address on the card somewhere. =3

The Birth of Tits McGee
Posted 18 years agoYes yes... MFM was AMAZING. COMPLETELY worth every bit of trouble, every bad omen that I pushed past in the weeks leading up to the con. Now, I don't exactly believe in offering up a blow-by-blow report of each day, but an overall summary and a LOT of shout-outs to some freaking awesome people are DEFINITELY in order:
First off, this con was the beginning of a new LOL-tastic nickname for me which I find all too appropriate and just downright outrageously hilarious: Tits McGee. I wound up making an equally hilarious badge to match this new name, and much hilarity followed, to the point where people were actually greeting me by the name "Tits" or "Tits McGee". I certainly did not mind, I found it rather amusing. At least I'll be remembered!
---
Secondly, I was absolutely THRILLED with the popularity of the rolymuffin or "puff ball" badges I was drawing! If you did not get the chance to commission me for one and would like one, let me know, I'll be more than happy to do one for you! They are $15 each and absolutely adorable. =3
I went to this con with little or no intention of taking commissions, as I have never gained anything in the past by spending a weekend behind a table in ANY Artist Alley. I've never been commissioned while sitting behind a table, and so I honestly didn't think I'd do it this year, so that I could just run around (like a lunatic, as usual) and enjoy the con, instead. But then I ran into a bit of trouble with this idea, as my feet started swelling (for reasons unknown, presumably an allergic reaction) on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, making it painful to walk.
What started out as a nuisance became excrutiating, to the point where I went down to the front desk to borrow their wheelchair, only to find out it required a $100 deposit, which was money I did not have to spare. Some of you may remember that I disappeared from Artist Alley on Friday afternoon/evening to seek medical attention... We never did find the clinic that we got THREE SETS OF DIRECTIONS FOR, so I went with a home remedy of binding my feet with ACE bandages, instead, which seemed to help tremendously. Many thanks to everyone who helped me out by running around and getting things for me, as walking was OUTRAGEOUSLY painful for about half the con.
Also, thank you to the generous artists who shared their badge materials with me (laminaters, laminating plastic, badge clips). Again, I hadn't originally intended to take commissions, but with my feet in the state they were in, it just made sense to sit down, stay put, and stay off my feet, and Artist Alley was the most productive place to do so.
---
Driving to Atlanta from Raleigh and then riding to Memphis from there worked out a lot better than I thought it would. As much as I love the mountains, and as beautiful as they are, they slow down the trip. Yes, I went south to get to Atlanta, and then north again to get to Memphis, but I skipped the mountains, which saved a lot on time, and even more on gas and wear and tear on my car, which is kind of important at the moment, as I'm not sure I'd trust my car 100% in the mountains.
As such, I would like to issue an apology to the Carolina Furs for all the mix-ups with the caravan. I'll go into more detail later in a post on the mailing list, and explain myself a little better then.
---
I have some post-con homework to handle which is as follows: Complete Phelan Mahoney's commission and get it mailed out within the next two weeks, draw a rolymuffin badge for RRD, complete giftart for Caldy and ship his book back to him, finish the mouse girl pinup commission that I started forever ago, begin the squishy goodness that is the pair of commissions for Queue, begin FIRST HUMAN DRAWINGS I'VE DONE IN FOUR YEARS, start Mallow's commission, and purchase my own laminater and badge materials.
---
Highlights of the weekend included a text message reading "omg milk and cookies is about baby furs *is trapped in room*" and a room party involving very awesome people and a few rounds of Apples to Apples, due to which Tibet is now BANNED.
---
And last, but not least... Some words and stuff for some awesome people.
A huge thank you TygerCowboy and staff, for putting on yet another amazing con. Without all of y'all's hard work, we wouldn't have such an amazing "pizza party gone horribly wrong" every year, and I would have no reason to park my rear parts in a car for 12 hours and blow an outlandish amount of money on gasoline. You guys make it completely worth it. So thank you!
Queue, thanks for looking after me and dragging me all over creation (we wound up in both Arkansas AND Mississippi) to try and find me a doctor on Friday, and for those life-saving food runs to the McDonalds of Mystery.
Lin and Foxcross, thanks for being amazing car buddies. =D The whole trip there and back rocked because of you two and Queue. Lots and lots and lots of love.
Jouva, thank you for letting Foxcross and I room with you. ^_^ Our con stay would not have been possible without you.
Razerz, thank you thank you thank you for inviting me to THE MOST AMAZING ROOM GATHERINGS EVER. You and your roomies MADE my weekend SO worthwhile~ I felt so at home, and the hilarity that ensued will stay with me for many years to come. Thank you so so so so much for inviting me to come hang out with you. Otherwise, there would be no Tits McGee! =O Looking forward to seeing you again next year!
Similarly, I would like to thank the folks I hung out with Saturday and Sunday nights up in 489 who made my con experience this year totally amazing. You guys rock so much face. Hali, I am SO sorry I missed your show. ;_; I very thoroughly enjoyed the CDs I bought from you, though, and I do hope that we stay in touch so that I can come to one of your shows in the future. <3 Ninnin, thanks for being such an awesome host and putting up with my nonsense. ^_^
Regi, thank you for being the most awesome person I've ever shared a table with in Artist Alley that I did not know beforehand. You made being stuck behind a table too awesome for words. =D
The Orions, Strider and Kerstin. You guys are just too awesome for words. I really can't help smiling when I'm around you guys, you just have really fun auras, I dunno how to really explain it. Kerstin, kudos to you for donating your hair to Locks of Love. Strider, sorry to hear about your laptop dying, hope you can get that taken care of soon. ^_^ Hope to see y'all at FWA~ BOOB SQUAD~! =D
Duo and Caldy, my neighbors to the north that I never knew I had. I really have to come visit y'all when I have some money again.
Leo and Tina, I hope you guys had a wonderful time, and that little Gabriel enjoyed his first con. ^_^ Let me know if y'all ever need a sitter, I'm only an hour away!
Thank you to everyone who commissioned me, you boost my ego and make me feel like my art is worthwhile. SOOOOOOO much love.
Thank you to all the new friends I made, all the awesome people I hung out with... You guys made my con experience 100% pure awesome.
---
That just about sums it up. =D Thanks again, everyone! Hope everybody gets home safe, and that I get to see you all again next year! ^.^

fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck
Posted 18 years agoI am SO pissed.
One of my coworkers stole my wallet, checkbook, and BRAND NEW CELL PHONE straight out of my purse tonight at work while I was on the clock. THEY'RE FUCKING GONE.
EDIT: MY SHIT WAS RETURNED TO ME THIS MORNING AFTER GETTING THE POLICE INVOLVED. My cell phone was DEMOLISHED, fucking asshole. All because he thinks I have something of his I never even touched. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY DESIRE TO OWN A DS, WHY THE FUCK WOULD I STEAL YOURS? JENNIFER IS FULL OF SHIT, YOU SHOULD HAVE FIGURED THAT OUT WHEN SHE GOT FIRED FOR RAIDING THE SAFE.
FUCK YOU, VINCE. I SHOULD HAVE PRESSED CHARGES. I SERIOUSLY HOPE ALEX FIRES YOU. (I can't see why he wouldn't)
Going to the bank tomorrow to get my account numbers changed so that he can't fuck with my money. Destroying current checks. Getting a new debit card. New cell phone arrives by mail on Tuesday. ALL THIS SHIT BEFORE I LEAVE FOR MEMPHIS IN ~5 DAYS.
Watching Sailor Moon STARS is about all that's keeping me from killing things right now.

Posted 18 years agoI wanted to extend a big thanks to everyone who helped me out by commissioning me. If you just sent me something without commissioning me, PLEASE get in contact with me, I WANT to send you SOMETHING to thank you for your trouble. Maybe I'll just ship myself in a big ol' cardboard box to your front step. =3
I don't want this to be some big beg for handouts. It's not that I'm not appreciative, it's just that I feel like a mooch when people just -give- me money. It makes me feel guilty. So I really want to do something in return, to show my thanks.
IF YOU SENT ME MONEY WITHOUT DISCUSSING DETAILS OF A COMMISSION, PLEASE CONTACT ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT.
Thank you again, everyone.

Diet Update 07.12.07
Posted 18 years agoHOLY SHIT, I'VE DROPPED 7 POUNDS IN LESS THAN A WEEK. x_x;
He don't know who I am... I'M THE DUMBLEDORE, BITCH!
Posted 18 years agoGot my hair cut again last night... this makes like... 2 haircuts in about a month. I think I'm trying to find myself through my hair. I'd better find me fast, because I'm running out of hair. x_x;
Went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with Agnes/imoenleslati last night/this morning. I must say that I liked it better than Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. I never really liked the way POA turned out (the movie, not the book), I always felt that the director had taken the huge budget for the movie and turned the damn thing into his own personal art project. GOF was kind of a borderline film for me, I'm still undecided to this day as to whether I like it or not. And for the record, I will always love the film versions of Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets; I thought they were VERY well done and very true to the feeling of the books they were derived from.
So at this point, it's hard for me to say if I liked the movie and thought it was good because I've learned not to expect movies from books to cover every last detail exactly as it was on the pages, or if it was so good that it didn't -bother- me that it wasn't EXACTLY the same. Either way, I very much enjoyed it, but I'm not going to spoil anything for anyone. ^_^
Took some of my old Adderall yesterday afternoon and around 3 this morning so I wouldn't pass out at work from lack of sleep, and I was quickly refreshed on why I started taking it in the first place. I was only at work for five hours this morning, but I had -spunk- and was a very productive and efficient worker, and so I think I'm going to talk to my doctor about me resuming taking Adderall on a regular basis because it works massive wonders on my focus (which is not only good for work, but for my art, too) and my appetite (I've not been hungry AT ALL since I took it... I practically had to -force- myself to eat breakfast around 4:30 this morning so that I'd have something useful on my stomach to power me through work).
Diet is going well, I allowed myself popcorn, candy, and a diet soda last night, but only because I didn't eat ALL DAY to allow for the number of calories and amount of fats and wretched sugars I'd be consuming at the theater. Go me.
Pics of new hair and my random Slytherin/Death Eater costume coming as soon as I can find/borrow a freaking cord for my camera.
PS - I need new work pants and I need more black socks. =/
Welll...
Posted 18 years agoToday I started my new diet, and I did pretty good! I think I'll be okay on this thing ^_^ It's gonna take a while to get used to eating 5-6 small meals a day, when I'm used to just eating two medium-sized meals a day. I'm going to have to start actually eating breakfast (and not at 2 in the afternoon). =/
Today's food log is pretty short. Breakfast was a bowl of cheerios with 2% milk (I'll soon be switching to 1%) and a glass of cranberry grape juice. Dinner was a beautiful salad topped with sliced almonds and light ranch dressing, and I had a snack at work of a pack of granola bars (they come packaged in pairs, total calorie count for the pair is ~150, I think). Getting pretty good about upping the amount of water I'm drinking. NO SODAS TODAY!! =D I'm proud of me.
Money sucks, though. I spent $100 on new-diet groceries, including chicken breasts, whole wheat pasta, low-fat granola bars, cereal, fresh fruits, and LOTS of salad fixin's.
Happy wolger. *wags her tail*
EDIT
PS - I've been working a lot in openCanvas. It is godly. I'm actually LAYERING now! =D New artwork coming soon, but until then, stare at a WORK IN PROGRESS: http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j.....005smaller.jpg
ALSO, BEFORE I FORGET. HARRY POTTER OPENS NEXT WEEK, WHO IS INTERESTED IN SEEING IT THURSDAY NIGHT? CALL ME! 919 390 5914
