DETAILS:
Okay, first official poker meet is going to be this weekend (sorry for the late notice, these'll be posted at least two weeks in advance from here on out).
We'll be holding the meet at our place on Saturday night, starting around 6 (if you can't show up until later, don't worry about it, we'll still be here). No idea what time we'll be wrapping up, this is going to be a very open-ended and rather experimental event. The first few meets will be very slow and light - we'll be teaching folks how to play, and we'll just be playing with chips, no money.
Please bring a few bucks for pizza (if you wanna be REALLY nice, you can bring sodas, chips, cookies, whatever for us to munch on).
We're really looking forward to hosting this event, and hope to see you there~!

This Freaking Hurts
Posted 19 years agoI'm not going to be posting on LJ, DA, or FA for a bit, as my wrists are killing me. What was diagnosed as tendonitis in my wrists in March has come back, and meaner than ever. My right hand is almost useless for gripping anything the size of a baseball or smaller (as it freakin hurts A LOT to do it), I can't make a fist with my right hand, and I'm going to be limiting how much I type and use a mouse for a while. My right hand is in almost constant pain, and my left hand isn't real happy, either.
THIS MEANS THAT COMMISSIONS AND TRADES ARE ON HOLD. I don't know what's going to happen yet. I have an appointment on Thursday at Raleigh Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, to speak with the doctor I originally saw in March, and find out what needs to be done. I'm hoping that I'm not going to require surgery. I can't afford to miss work, and I don't want to risk screwing up my right hand permanently... I don't know what I'd do if I lost dexterity - even slightly - in my right hand... And I really don't want to think about it.
As usual, I'm also worried about my mother. Her cancer is back again, and she's on a new, experimental chemo drug. She's part of a study on this drug, as it's not yet FDA approved. Mom's strong, and she's done this before, but I'm still worried about her. This drug really takes it out of her, and makes her really weak and tired. In the past, she's always gone back to work the next day after a treatment... Now she comes home exhausted from treatment, and can't do anything for the following 3-4 days. I suppose it's better than being violently ill as a result of the drugs, but it's just... unsettling... to see her go from working 40-50 hours a week while on chemo to suddenly not being able to even drive to a Wendy's to pick herself up something to eat without being exhausted afterwards...
Anyways... I'm probably not going to talk much online for a while, so if you need me, don't hesitate to call my cell phone at 919 390 5914. I'll always answer, unless I'm at work or in the middle of something that makes answering the phone difficult.
