Posted 8 years agophew, lemme tell you ladies and gents, it's been a rough quarter. I dont think I've posted a single journal that wasn't commission based sicne my bday. Nothing personal, just... so. so busy. Today was the last class of the quarter and spring break starts now! For a couple weeks I'm free to leap, frolic, annnndddd take a paycut because my job is linked to the school. Damn. BUT. I'm still kicking~
I appreciate y'all's support more than ever and I hope I can stream more the next week~ Thanks for sticking out this crazy last few months with me. ;u;

Posted 8 years agoSo, sorry guys ; - ; I know I haven't been around much. I've been here for commissions, patreon annnnd that's about it, really. School this quarter decided to be brutal and whack me in the ass. I'm taking two classes, and neither of them involve actually drawing a comic, so you'd think I'd be set, buuuut...
ugh.
I just finished REDOING my homework because when I was about to submit my work earlier I read the instructions and realized I'd made several huge errors.... soooo I had to redraw everything. Shit.
And then writing an entire script in my other course is something that's just infuriating and painful at times. So much work...
On top of that, I'm organizing a project with my classmates, working in the production lab as an assistant, trying to have a social life and still make a living off of commissions....
Annnd I changed my brain meds last week with ups and downs as a result. I'm going between exhausted and wired, feeling ok to feeling jumpy and grumpy...
But, at the end of the day, I'm still doing well. I'm pleased to bits with the work I have accomplished, and I'm going to continue to kick ass ;3 Just... bear with me guys.
Your support still means the world to me, and I'm so lucky and thankful to even be where I am right now in my life. <3 Hahaha, eventually things will calm down? Or maybe they wont! I'll just make it happen, somehow. XD

2016 in Review!

So, I had planned to go out to celebrate the new years at my boyfriend's house tonight, but instead I'm at home taking it easy. XD My tat isn't nearly as painful today, but I'd be lying if I said I felt 100%. We slept a looonnng time yesterday. When I got home at 6 I crashed out until 9, then again from 12-10am, and another hour nap from 12-1. My body is exhausted!
Otherwise, I'm just leaving ink stains all over my sheets and pillow, which is frustrating, but predictable. Here's hoping the itchy stage isn't too bad when it comes.
So, obviously 2016 was a bit of a bust for the world with the amount of celebs we lost, the political state of the USA and other regrettable events, but I want to take a minute to reflect on my blessings throughout the year~
I found out in January that I'd been accepted to SCAD.
I quit my job at the pub without burning bridges, as much as I wanted to!
My patreon was renewed successfully~
I finally got on medication that has helped me a lot.
I successfully moved to Atlanta, handling everything thrown at me to the best of my ability, and set up a home for myself!
I got a job at the school~
Made A's and met tons of awesome people during classes~
Living successfully on my own!
Finn~ This little bundle of rambunctiousness is the sweetest baby kitty, and I'm so glad to have found him ;u;
My relationship with my bf has been tested and proven resilient~
My parents and I are a lot closer now, especially my mom.
I went to DC to see a friend and it was an amazing experience~
Working on comics and advancing my art has been so rewarding this year
and this tattoo wraps it all up~
I've worked super hard this year to be responsible, independent and genuinely happy. c:
Even for every time I was tested and fell a little, I climbed twice as high by overcoming each obstacle.
It's true that 2016 was the pits in many ways, and a lot of us are scared for all that 2017 will hold. Just remember that we have some control over our future and our accomplishments are worth a lot~
Let go of the things you cannot change and strive to be a better person than you were the day before.
Happy New Year, everyone~

Brief pseudo-hiatus
Posted 9 years agoJust writing everyone to let you know that I'll be out of town for a couple of days. I've had some serious problems lately with my mental health and while I'm feeling better now, I've decided to go up to TN for a few days to visit family and friends. I won't be able to take commissions, but I may create a few adoptables during this time~ I'll definitely not be streaming though XD

Posted 9 years agoHey everyone! I'm back home from D.C. and gosh, was it fun!
chipo and his roomies were wonderful hosts, and I'm so grateful for their hospitality, as it let me relax into a schedule of childlike wonder and amazement at being somewhere new. Got to ride the metro for the first time, and yup, I still like trains! The museums were amazing, though I definitely melted at the National Gallery. so much pretty, so many moments of complete awe <3 The science museum was also fantastic, and I can't wait to go back with my boyfriend so we can tour the american history museum and cry our eyes out XD
I've never considered myself a patriot, but gosh... standing there, looking up at the monument, or the capitol hill... I nearly lost it. I'm impressed that I didn't flat out cry at some points.
What an amazing trip~ I'm all prepped up to draw and game and be inspired by the world again~ School is out for a month and I've got a lot to do :D
Commissions will be picked up again really soon, and potentially some adopt-a-characters so keep an eye out!
Pidge is back in the drivers seat! :D

Posted 9 years agosorry I've been pretty afk since the election results. I should make a speech about how we should all stick together and protest and move forward, but tbh I'm really really scared. Every time I look online I see hate crimes and I'm so frightened for my friends and family. My parents are talking about moving out to the west coast again, and there's nothing I can do about... anything. I'm just trying to make it through and I'm both hoping and fearing a sort of revolution... but it could be an all out civil war.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that the group of people now in power are perpetuating fear and hatred and bigotry.
I just dont understand.

Posted 9 years agoI was really on the fence on whether or not I was going to vote. I didn't like either candidate, but finally my strong dislike of Trump and what he stands for pushed me to the polls. I don't regret it, either!
When the outcome is already an eventuality, it makes you think about your involvement. I couldn't, in good conscience, handle Trump being elected. So! Let's hope soon we have our first Madame president. c:
Now to go to school and work and pocket that shot of jack daniels for the outcome, no matter which way it goes.

Posted 9 years agoHello peeps! If you're a person who bleeds monthly, you probably have your own method of taking care of the red tide. For the longest time, I thought that there were only two options; pads and tampons. With pads you're consciously aware all the time that you have one on, and at least to me it felt embarrassing and uncomfortable... plus they almost always leaked. Same thing for tampons, with the added risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome lingering in the back of my mind. If you're someone with a heavy flow, you're sometimes doubling up with both of them just to get through the day!
Plus, if you're a FTM and still have to deal with bleeding, you can't easily change your products in the men's bathroom....
But I found out there's an alternative.
Menstrual cups are about what they sound like! They're a cup like device made of medical-grade silicone that rests inside the vagina and collects the blood to be manually emptied later. They're safe, reusable and therefore green, comfortable, and they pay for themselves in just a few cycles. A good cup will last you three years before you want to replace it, but even then it's still SAFE.
Depending on your cycle, you can get away with only emptying it twice a day (no less than that, though!) and they're fairly reliable once you get the art of inserting it down!
Here's where it gets a little bloody, though.
Cups are a little intimidating for some people because yes, you will get blood on your hands. I've found that it gets easier with time, but it's pretty much unavoidable. For some people, the convenience of pads is that you can wrap them up and never have to touch anything, buuuuut cups make you a little more hands on. Now, for me this isn't an issue at all. I'm unphased by menstrual blood and think it's perfectly natural and makes you 100% more metal than anyone who doesn't bleed. But hey, not everyone has that outlook!
One reason I really love the cup is that by making you handle your own business without being able to ignore it or pretend its not happening, it makes you all that more aware of what your body is doing and teaches you to respect it a little more for it.
Bleeding out the vagoo sucks, but it's an important part of our anatomy that is still doing a job. At least, that's how I see it!
So are you still here? Not weirded out? COOL. Let me tell you just a little bit more about the process and drop some linkage!
When you first get a cup, PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH IT. I can't stress this enough. It might seem like you can just shove it right on in, but each cup is a little different. Mine, for instance, requires a complete rotation to create a seal inside me or it'll leak. The instructions will also give you info on how to remove it comfortably, and how your particular cup can be cleaned.
Speaking of cleaning, invest in a nonscented, gentle soap. I found that a small travel-size bottle of dr. bronner's unscented castille soap does the trick. Clean your cup before reinserting it. If you absolutely can't get away with doing that, such as out in a public restroom, just make sure you wash your hands before emptying your cup in a stall. Nobody wants possible infection.
Another protip: If you're like me and buy the cup and just want to find out what it feels like without waiting for bloodweek, PLEASE use a silicone-safe lube. Later on, you probably wont need it due to your cycle, but be gentle with the fact that you're putting a foreign object up your vag.
So, I'll drop a few links below to additional information and links to the cup I use and a few other highly recommended cups. The cup I have is good for beginners, and is a general medium-density silicone and a smaller size. If you've had a child or are over 30 you might need to get a different cup size, but there's definitely a product out there that will be comfortable and safe. c:
So there we go! I guess the reason this is so cool to me is that I spent so long without knowing there was an alternative. I hope someone out there sees this and realizes that too! Bleeding every month is shitty, but it doesn't have to be so costly or involve possible TSS. Plus, if you're a FTM and still have to deal with bleeding, you can't easily change your products in the men's bathroom....
But I found out there's an alternative.
Menstrual cups are about what they sound like! They're a cup like device made of medical-grade silicone that rests inside the vagina and collects the blood to be manually emptied later. They're safe, reusable and therefore green, comfortable, and they pay for themselves in just a few cycles. A good cup will last you three years before you want to replace it, but even then it's still SAFE.
Depending on your cycle, you can get away with only emptying it twice a day (no less than that, though!) and they're fairly reliable once you get the art of inserting it down!
Here's where it gets a little bloody, though.
Cups are a little intimidating for some people because yes, you will get blood on your hands. I've found that it gets easier with time, but it's pretty much unavoidable. For some people, the convenience of pads is that you can wrap them up and never have to touch anything, buuuuut cups make you a little more hands on. Now, for me this isn't an issue at all. I'm unphased by menstrual blood and think it's perfectly natural and makes you 100% more metal than anyone who doesn't bleed. But hey, not everyone has that outlook!
One reason I really love the cup is that by making you handle your own business without being able to ignore it or pretend its not happening, it makes you all that more aware of what your body is doing and teaches you to respect it a little more for it.
Bleeding out the vagoo sucks, but it's an important part of our anatomy that is still doing a job. At least, that's how I see it!
So are you still here? Not weirded out? COOL. Let me tell you just a little bit more about the process and drop some linkage!
When you first get a cup, PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME WITH IT. I can't stress this enough. It might seem like you can just shove it right on in, but each cup is a little different. Mine, for instance, requires a complete rotation to create a seal inside me or it'll leak. The instructions will also give you info on how to remove it comfortably, and how your particular cup can be cleaned.
Speaking of cleaning, invest in a nonscented, gentle soap. I found that a small travel-size bottle of dr. bronner's unscented castille soap does the trick. Clean your cup before reinserting it. If you absolutely can't get away with doing that, such as out in a public restroom, just make sure you wash your hands before emptying your cup in a stall. Nobody wants possible infection.
Another protip: If you're like me and buy the cup and just want to find out what it feels like without waiting for bloodweek, PLEASE use a silicone-safe lube. Later on, you probably wont need it due to your cycle, but be gentle with the fact that you're putting a foreign object up your vag.
So, I'll drop a few links below to additional information and links to the cup I use and a few other highly recommended cups. The cup I have is good for beginners, and is a general medium-density silicone and a smaller size. If you've had a child or are over 30 you might need to get a different cup size, but there's definitely a product out there that will be comfortable and safe. c:
So there we go! I guess the reason this is so cool to me is that I spent so long without knowing there was an alternative. I hope someone out there sees this and realizes that too! Bleeding every month is shitty, but it doesn't have to be so costly or involve possible TSS.
