It's been a minute since making a journal here, but this needs to be said about a beloved individual our fandom has lost.

You and I chatted one time I believe a handful of years ago. I remember I was just a young fluff at the time, and didn't know much about the fandom. But I still remember your kindness and helpfulness when I joined FA way back in 2011. Ever since then, I've always come back to FA as a stable foundation in this fandom, because for me this is where it all started. I'll never forget the amount of people I met and connected with on this platform, and the amount of hard work you and your team have put in over the years to make it a safe and friendly place for furries all over the world. I still feel that way in 2024, and I wish I could tell you how much it all means ❤️

Here's to you Neer! Even though you and I weren't close, I'll always cherish the interactions we had and the way that you made this fandom a better place because of your positive presence and dedication. It will not be the same without you.

Due to unforseen reasons, I have a hospital bill that I have to take care of myself. In order to hopefully cover all of the expenses I am attempting to raffle.off my dragon partial fursuit.
I am selling virtual raffle tickets. They are $20.00 each or 2 for $30.00. Once I receive your payment I will assign you a number and let you know what it is. The raffle starts now, 2/10/21 and will end on St.Patrick's day 3/17/21. At the end of the raffle I will have a number selected at random and that person will win. Another yearly journal by your favorite KittyFox, once again.

Incidentally, the date mentioned refers to October 27th, 2019 which marks 8 years in being a part of this glorious fandom. I will not say it has been particularly amazing or horrible; In fact, it has been rather neutral. I still maintain that this fandom is an important part of my life since finding it so long ago, and I hope it stays that way for many years to come. Staying active in it has always been somewhat of a chore for me, but I think it is time I cease viewing it as such.

I am part of the furry community whether I am active or not. The lifestyle that I have chosen and built up does not always align with it, and that is okay. Furry fandom is not a religion after all. It is what you make it to fit you, and I think that is one of the greatest gifts this community has.

I have certainly had the time and opportunity to grow over the past 8 years, and I hope you have too. Comparing now to back in 2011 when I was a bored and lonely high school kid in front of a laptop, who out of happenstance found the term "furry" from a GMod SFM animation video on Youtube, there really is no comparison. All there is, is an overwhelming sense of contentment.

Being a furry does not define who I am, nor does it need to. It remains only a gift in my life that continues to give and that can be enjoyed when the time calls for it. That being said, it has given me enough space to consider the future. For example, it has been 8 years and still have not had the pleasure of attending a convention. Even after countless opportunities and broken promises, the experience still remains a mystery. Again I say, that is okay. I believe I have learned enough and been around long enough to know what to look for in a convention. That will come in its own time; and I believe waiting this long will be its own reward once the opportunity presents itself. If you and I meet at a convention one day, let us grab a drink, light up a cigar and talk about life. It would be a great honor to get to know you.

No promises. No expectations. No impatience.
Only anticipation.

Finally, I would like to extend to anyone reading this, I would like to ask a favor. One of my points of ambition is to have a V2 version of my fursuit made. If you know someone, or know of someone whose price range is within the $500-$1,500 range for a full suit, please direct me to their page/website. It would be greatly appreciated.

I will say, some of the most magical times I have had the pleasure of enjoying during these 8 years is being a fursuit performer. I have never encountered such magic and wonder just from that simple act alone. It is one of the major joys that this fandom has been able to provide me with. Having the new suit, I hope that the joy will only grow and many will come to appreciate the cute, heart-warming KittyFox.

Well there is my yearly mental purging.
What a journey it has been these past 8 years, and I do not regret a single minute of it.

...typing this bullshit because I've been thinking. A lot. And the more I think, the more I want to spill it.

Okay so I haven't been fully honest with you all or myself. 6 months ago I created that journal about how I'm "done" with the fandom. Well, that hasn't been going so well. In fact it sucks. And here I am.

I was in denial. I thought I had lost what I knew about this fandom for so long, and I didn't feel the same way. Well that's a bunch of boo-hock. The truth is, it never left me. And I've just recently come to terms with what I love about this fandom and the fact that I was fooling myself. Nothing was wrong. To put it simply, I lost myself for a bit there and I'm slowly coming back to who I knew.

What finally put me over the top and sent me away from this place was my most recent relationship (which has since ended this past February). I was ultimately torn between this fandom and that relationship. I had to step away from this fandom, just because this person whom I dated at the time of my last journal was not too fond of this fandom. To be clear, I am not blaming them. But, I believe my relationship with them had something to do with my initial decision in "leaving". I put that in quotes because I don't believe I ever truly left the fandom or the fandom left me. It was always there. It IS there. And I believe it's always going to be there. There ya go. Now you know.

Granted I have had my issues with this fandom over the years, but I believe this period was what you would call a growth period. I had to get to know myself more and ask myself all of the hard questions about life while also trying to stabilize college, work and a relationship. Just as predicted, it all fell apart. These past few months have been some of the hardest turning points I've had in my life. The good news is, I am still in school and I'm still employed. So it didn't all crash and burn. I would even go as far as thanking my ex for giving me this opportunity of soul searching and swinging me back around to... here. Where I belong.

Interestingly enough, since I've had time to reflect and transform, every time I kept thinking about this fandom, the more I wanted it back. I do want it back. I want so much more out of it. So that's what I'm going to do.

I want to finally start experiencing conventions. I want to make things out of this fandom with what I have. I want to meet people muzzle-to-muzzle and build those relationships and hold them dear. I want to update my fursona, and eventually get a NEW and BEAUTIFUL fursuit made into him, who I created many years ago. I want to drink a Guinness and smoke a cigar under the moonlight, at Tonic Bar during Anthrocon. I want to share my life on here and through videos of my experience and the fun I have in this fandom. I want to inspire and love others, even if I don't know them. I want to do so much.

But most of all, I want to be me. I want to be Samson. The kittyfox that is loved by so many.
And being me... I am a FURRY! <3


If you got this far, thank you. But for those of you who would rather I get to the point, here it is.
Take away this one thing: Nobody can tell you who you are, except you. And what you have, no one can ever take away from you. If you're not sure about something, or if you're in denial, just bear up and do it. Be honest, especially with yourself. Don't hold back. Otherwise, you'll look back one day and wish you'd made that one little decision that could have changed everything. Thankfully I didn't miss that opportunity, and I don't regret a second of it. It was not time wasted, it was time constructed.

I want to thank all of those who have kept in contact with me over this time. Especially the ones who commented and sent me notes and PM's over these months just checking up or expressing their concerns on this transition in my life. It really means a lot. And I want you to know, it is because of all of you whom I have met, who made this fandom special and the main reason why I'm back. Something I will never forget for the rest of my kittyfox life <3

So yeah, it's been 6 years since my beginning in the fandom. I realize it's been more than 2 years posting here, but I thought I owed it to the people here. Many I don't even know anymore. Some have stuck around, so thank you to those who have.

Okay here comes the bluntness. I'm out. I'm not as involved in the fandom as I once was and I'm not as excited as I used to be. I think it's because I've changed a lot and the fandom has too. I still love it and I still feel that same magic I felt on Oct. 27th, 2011. But now there's a new feeling.

Completion.

I think I'm done. I've been in this fandom a while now, and I know many have surpassed me by years. But I think I'm done trying to enjoy it. Because lately I have to force myself to find enjoyment anymore. So why try? I don't believe I will be leaving this wonderful fandom either; but staying and trying to be involved, I believe, will not bring me much more. I'm just going to wait for opportunities as they come, if any do.

Hell, I've never even been to so much as a furmeet let alone a convention. I used to be really excited! To getting my very first fursuit (thank you  tailsmilesprower8 for that, once again), going to a con, meeting new people and hopefully one day getting drunk with  kagemushi . I guess I don't need that stuff anymore. If there ever comes a great opportunity for me to go then I will. But until then, I'm not making any plans.

For the sake of making this an easy read, I want to again say that I am not renouncing this fandom. I'm just no longer attempting to participate, only to get very little satisfaction in return. I also want to apologize to those who have been (trying) to reach me on social media and here. Please don't take my, no-reply personally. It's all because I literally feel like I have nothing to say; especially when it comes to roleplaying. I just cannot RP anymore. I hope you can respect that.

I want to thank all of you who I've known and gotten to know over the years. You all made it what it is and I am thankful for all of you!

I'm still here, just way in the back, against the wall, with a cold glass of Jameson in my hand.

Hello all :)

I must say it's been pretty difficult to stay active online at all these days. Despite that, I believe this journal will be a good read because I actually have some good news to address! :3

First, I start the fall semester next week which means that I will officially be a sophomore in college! Yays! It feels good to know I've come this far already. It's gonna be a busy semester; I'm going to be doing 5-6 classes and I am eager to get started :3

The next thing is the bigger news: I got a job! As a matter of fact, orientation is today! I will be working at one of my most favorite little neighborhood restaurants ever, making about $7.80 /hour. That may not sound like much to many, but it's certainly a great start for me. I am so excited! With this job, I believe that I will be able to afford to finally go to my first furry convention! I'm not sure which one yet but that will be decided sometime soon :)

Anyways, I will be in and out on here, skype, facebook and other places. Feel free to go ahead and contact me but I ask that you please not expect an instant response.

I LOVE you all and I really hope the best for all of you too! Whether you're in school, work or other endeavors, just know that I'm thinking of you because I'll be in the same boat.

Soooo hai :3

It's been a while but meh. That's what you get with full time schooling and such.

So how are you? What's been happening? Tell me everything! I wanna know! >:3

Anyways, this is gonna be a more straightforward (and hopefully quick) journal, being that it's currently the last two weeks, and the last two weeks mean one thing: FINALS! Hooray....no... xD

Also, in case ya'll are wondering, (I don't believe I ever mentioned it) I am currently going to college for an Associates degree in Psychology. I'm currently 50% done with my degree (already) and I plan to transfer to University in the next year or so. I'm not sure where I'm going, but as long as I can get my beloved Bachelors degree in Psychology, I'll be happy :)

Aside from school, here's what's been happening: My mother had shoulder surgery (rotator cuff) about 2 months ago and she's in recovery for at least a year. So that's been quite a push to help her heal. But as a son who loves his momma, and after all she's done for me, I think it's the least I can do <33

In other news, I'm happy to say that as time goes on and I'm meeting new people, making new friends and spending time with them, I feel I'm really conquering my social anxiety that I've had for so long. It's been a great change/improvement! Just thought I'd share that since most of you know me and know (somewhat) how I function. That being said, I'm hoping this improvement can bring me closer to all of you on here whom I deeply care about. I guess the reason I've been somewhat distant is due to the fact that I'm not a very social person and it's always been expected of me to be social, especially in the fandom. Hopefully that will change! :3

Finally I want to mention... It's coming to be that time where this little kittyfox won't be so little anymore. That's right! In less than a month now, I will be 19 years old! That may not be very old to many but for me it's a HUGE step! I still remember being not even 16 when I joined this website and found the fandom! It's been THAT long already? Wow!

I guess you could say I'm content with being older. Youth is on the inside and not on your birth certificate. That's what I remind myself :)

Anyways, I'mma go now. It's time to study for about 100 hours and then take three 100 question tests xD

With that, I feel like I've been kinda drifting away from here and from those who I consider my friends/family. I want to apologize if it seems like I've been ignoring you or anyone for that matter. Really, it's not my intention. But, much like everyone else, I have a life and my own stuffs to deal with. So, as Anthrocon approaches so do many questions in my mind! I need a word of advice from those of you who are fursuiters and have fursuited at a convention before. But first, allow me to explain my situation.

Anthrocon 2014 will be my first ever in my life, furry convention; so that's a challenge in itself. I own a full fursuit, consisting of the standard parts (Feetpaws, handpaws, tail, etc) which can also be worn as a partial.

Now, I have a question regarding my situation stated above: In your opinion, is it a good idea to fursuit for your first convention, or not to fursuit? Since this is my first con, it's really left me to start thinking how I'll go about it, and what's best thing to do in order to get a fulfilling first con experience. I'm wondering if fursuiting would be a good idea to do for someone who is a first timer. This will be my first time at a con and my first real experience with suiting around crowds of people.

Basically, I'm asking if I should take it slow and hold off on fursuiting for my first con or not.

What do you think? Please, let me know your thoughts in the comments! Anything will help! Perhaps, tell me how you went to your first con (fursuited or not), tell me some things I should know about fursuiting at conventions if I do decide to suit, and/or give me any advice you have. Like I said, anything will help.

Before I close this journal, I should also mention about packing for the con. I began packing this week and by the looks of it, the load is already a lot to manage, and I haven't even packed my suit yet! So, that's something else to keep in mind regarding my situation.

I was going through my submissions today and I be like... "...Woah! Uhhhh, didn't expect that...! heh..."

For those of you who read the previous journal about my upcoming surgery, I am happy to say it was a success! I thank you for reading and taking time to express your concern/prayers/thoughts! I can tell they really helped!

The surgery itself was very easy and short (it being minor). I'm happy to say the areas are healing fairly quickly, with the help of the bandages, proper medication and given instructions. As of now, I am able to walk but not for very long; and there is little to no pain! Thank God!

I can't really speak for this as a whole, since it was done only yesterday, but that being said I was given a minimum of 10 to 14 days of recovery. So, we'll see what happens in that time frame. Hopefully, there won't be any setbacks! Right now, I'm experiencing some annoying side-effects from the meds but hey, that's normal :P

I want to thank all of you for your support, even if this was a fairly small problem compared to others. It helped me get through it and it's helping me even now in recovery. I couldn't be happier! :)
