General | Posted 16 years agoI been putting alot of planning into this and now I got what it takes to begin. Me and my cousin are choreographing a song and we got about 10 people interested so far, I'd like to get about 50 to pull this off
not gunna tell you where or when yet, this isn't something you can do in a single afternoon. The song is fun.
when we are more ready and have the plans all set up, I get to ask the mall for permission to do this stunt and hey, maybe they might take part too. Lol, someone complains to a security guard.. the security guard starts dancing too, lol =D

Saying goodbye to a cat
General | Posted 16 years agoI don't know which is harder, saying goodbye to my first cat or my other cat losing his friend.
My first cat is a bengal cat, kind of "special" in the head. I bought him from a cattery as an adult ex-breeding cat after he produced too many retard babies (sorry, but thats the truth). His price tag was 300 bucks, and soon became my best friend, he is a big lovable cat that just wants a warm place to sleep. Unfortunately, what happened was, the downstairs tenant got a female cat which made my cat go absolutely nuts, his meowing became out of control and loud, his clawing went from the cat tree to my couch, along with using my cat to piss on as well as my laundry, bed, and carpets. I don't think he will understand why he is going back to the kennels. The price I paid for him is far under the damage he caused. I didn't want to come down to this, but the downstairs tenants are bitches for getting that female cat, and I'm losing an awesome cat because of it. But my house stinks, my couch is garbage now and I got alot of cleaning ahead of me.
If anyone is wondering about the cat, when I bought him, I signed a contract saying I'm not to re-sell or make homeless. The cat will always have a home and food, too bad it can't be with me. The kennels will train the cat and make him fit again to a new home

I live in Winnipeg, it sits just outside of the 600km range that I seen on a picture somewhere.
I've been asking people about it and what would they do, many would just say board a plane and fly away. But I don't know if flying would be such a good idea..
I think if yellowstone suddenly erupts and IF the roads and cars are ok from the blast shock wave that could happen, I'd be trying to go directly north to hudson bay, from there if I needed I could board a ship to some other place around the world. Hopefully the ash wouldn't make the ocean a huge sludge bath that damages the ships haul and propellers.
I imagine there would be immediate panic, instead of raiding walmart like any other would I would just buy a few drinks and lunchables whatever I could find for rations and take off north.
Hopefully it would erupt in the summer or when its decently warm so I could put on my skates and skate to churchill, I know already trying to take a car would be like fighting a losing battle. Hopefully I'd be able to make it far enough north without being killed by a car so I could take the train that I hope would still be still running directly to churchill.
If not, it would be a long walk along the tracks since there are no roads and I don't own a bike. By then I'd probably start seeing darkness behind me from all the ash and dust taking over the skies.
When I make it to churchill if I'm not killed by hungry animals from there I would see if the ships are still running. If not, I'd find shelter and let mother nature decide my fate.
If its winter.. I don't know, I'd probably watch death come before my eyes

My hips are feeling bad
General | Posted 16 years agoI don't know if they are over worked or if I'm just not used to walking after a month of mostly skating, skating to work, desk job, skate home along with 60-90 minutes a day of a skate workout. Today it was gradually getting painful to walk, my aunt has bad hips, just hope it doesn't run in the family.

Wednesday night skating fun
General | Posted 16 years agoFinally they did something a little bit different, only because they have a race comming up in duluth in a week, which I'm not attending this year.
They did a big pack skate, like 20 of us. We did 3 sets of 20 minute pack skates. But only thing is, it was a slow pace, about 20-25 kph. After the first set was done, me and 3 others decided not to take a break since that 20 minutes of pack skating didn't even begin to tire us out so for the 5 minutes, we charged with a 4 person pack at a higher pace until the pack came on again and continued on with another 20 minutes slow paced.
On the 3rd set, me and 2 others left the pack half way through and charged at a high pace again, one guy tried to pick it up even more but he ended up tiring out along with the other guy and left me alone, so I took it up to my pace 35-40 kph, lapped the pack, and decided to lap them again it took about 2km (6 laps) to lap them again. Thats when the 3 others jumped on again after I'm getting really tired, and I kept going with them out of will power, my legs were already screaming for rest. So I ended up prevailing after they got tired and finished the 20 minute set alone.
I tried to do my sprinting at the end of the night when the others were taking off their skates, my legs were done.
You know it was a good skating night when my body is exhausted and legs are screaming in pain. Not lke it hurts or anything, Its what I like.

On a side note, Cheryl Conklyn one of our speed skaters is a world champion at boxing! she entered a competition in kansas 2 a month ago and won!, she brought home a 30 pound belt.

I felt something new
General | Posted 16 years agoYesterday at the track I felt something new, something that came as a suprise. It was the first day I got to skate on the track with my new wheels and bearings, and we did a team program skate, blah blah that was 30 minutes of hell. Then I started doing my own thing, what I did was skate the track, and going into the corner I pick up some serious speed, glide the back straight keeping that speed I gained, and blast through the second corner, and thats when I felt it. Frictionless, my other wheels were worn out and half of the bearings were seized so I never could get the speed as a new set of bearings gave me, I picked up so much speed that I felt more balanced through the corner, I just wish my family would just come out once and see what I'm up to 3 times a week
Its hard to describe how it feels, but it felt amazing and so fast, I like it when I discover something small that turns out to be a big deal to me

General | Posted 16 years agoI ended up entering that race at a cost of $65 thinking I would regret it if I didn't enter. WELL I REGRET ENTERING! ;( , within the first few km my shins cramped up big time and I was in a favorable position. With the shins cramped it prevented me from moving my toes up and down which is essential in skating, it stopped me from double pushing or being able to plant my back wheel first, I was at a huge risk of crashing because I couldn't skate proper. Last September I did the same length race at a 1:14:40, this past Sunday, 1:47. I didn’t have fun at all, I was alone the whole race, and again this year I won a draw prize, it could have been new wheels or bearings, maybe a set of frames or a helmet and gloves maybe.. I got a 1 day free pass to boxing. The best I ever won was a set of bearings years ago.
I’m actually considering leaving Roller Sports Manitoba, and starting a separate club within Winnipeg, “SpeedStreet” or “Roller Sports Winnipeg” Designated to find the top skaters of Winnipeg, people that actually want to compete and set/break records. Winnipeg doesn’t have sprinters anymore besides myself, there is 1 other but he is kind of phasing out. Back in 2001 we had a fast track team cindy klassen was there too, but I was still new to speed skating and could never keep up. Now I’m that one they call Insane, when I’m on the track and keeping high average speeds. Every year I kept asking for more of a program at the track, but it seems like more is being taken away. On Sunday another skater came up to me and was like “you need to show up at birds hill more often” and I just looked at her and said “why don’t you come to the track?” I really could have used that $65 elsewhere ;(
Seems like the sport I absolutely love I’m complaining lots about. Roller Sports Manitoba has took out everything short distance, can you blame me?

General | Posted 16 years agoWhats the point of being a really fast skater and still training hard even though I can't afford to go into the big races?
averaging $50+ just to enter, then I gotta find the money to get there.
I'll admit I have 4 national records and now 10 provincial records all for distances under 3000 meters. The only chance for those to get beaten is by me, because by FAR, my sprinting speed is well beyond the rest of team manitoba. There are a few skaters on the team that can propel themselves to nearly 50 kph, I've been clocked at 58.
Little by little every year they they been taking the short races out. Now, the shortest race is 11km no more sprint races or track races. I am hoping that will change quickly because there is about 10 new skaters this year and keep growing, all of them under 15 years old. There are a couple kids that I see that have great potential, a 9 year old girl (she is actually quite fast), 12 year old boy and a 14 year old boy that I noticed is adopting my technique, if he gets it right he could be very fast and may be able to beat my records, if not, those records are going to stand forever just like my limbo record which I set when I was 10. Had pair of skates on and skated under a 8 inch bar, lowest in manitoba, no one has come close.
I'm hoping these kids will start asking for races, I have been for years, hopefully they will be heard.
I love skating, but its not fun anymore, its just not exciting as it used to be 5 years ago when there were track races. I could have bought a fursuit and a heck of alot of accessories to make Kantar the Orca. But I bought top of the line skates for $1700.

General | Posted 16 years agoLast wednesday on this track (see link) I set a new provincial record, the coach organized a race.. 200 meter flying sprints, meaning your already travelling fast when the timer starts.

Names for my snakes, finally
General | Posted 16 years agoI've chosen names for 3 of my 6 snakes, the other 3 snakes look exactly alike, serves me right for finding 3 snakes of the same litter. with pictures of what they look like, they are not my pictures.
Spot - July 2009 red side garter snake. Got its name from a big black spot just below its head. A wild snake with the temper of a calm corn snake not skittish like the other 3 goofs, its so unbelievable how adapted this snake got to me, within a week of being captured under a street sign at a abandon brick mill.

Rambo - September 2008 Corn snake. I don't know why I named it rambo, I just kinda started saying it one day.

Sticks - July 2009 Anery Corn Snake. Last weekend a cardboard pad became loose and the 2 sided tape was exposed, my snake rubbed against it and got caught. It looked like a pancake snake when I found it, was probably stuck like that for a day. Luckily I found it when it was still alive and took me an hour to carefullyuse a qtip and roll the sticky part away from the snake without hurting it badly. The poor thing must have been in so much pain during that time, it bit my finger probably 20 times, also its been 4 days since the incident and the snake is doing fine
