Art update for everyone. Sorry I'm a bit behind on...well...everything. I caught a rather nasty cold a couple weeks back. I'm still a bit of a cough, but I'm more or less over it now, but until last Friday I was basically comatose if I wasn't working one of my two jobs. This weekend I was supposed to have both Saturday and Sunday to myself so naturally once I have a bunch of free time to get caught up, I get a wonderful eye infection. Which of course appears to be clearing up now that I've spent most of two days with my eyes closed...

I'm doing my best to get caught up but at the moment this is effectively my third job. That might be changing in the future and I'll have more free time, but right now I'm a bit overwhelmed. If I get lucky I might have Tuesday and Thursday off this week and I'll have a couple days to really work on some art.

Since there hasn't been a bid in over 24 hours I'm closing the Yama auction at midnight tonight instead of tomorrow! If anyone wants to place a bid now's the time to do it!

After many months of searching, I have a job! Woo!!! Now that my schedule is going to be less wibbly wobbly I'm going to be able to be more stable on getting art out to! I'm going to be arting mostly on the weekends so it won't be a super fast pace, but steady at least. ^_^

Sorry it's been so long since I gave an update. It's been a hard few months. I'm still looking for a job, but *crosses fingers* I think I might get one very soon. But sadly applying for jobs and doing interviews and all the prep that goes with both of those (rewriting your cover letter/resume over and over, jumping through all the hoops to submit the application, repeatedly doing laundry cuz I only have once set of nice clothes, showering right before the interview and making sure I'm at least 10 minutes early for the interview) plus the part time job I have right now suddenly remember this month that I exist and starting throw hours at me like they're trying to get rid of them before the new shipment of hours came in.

Long story short, I've been pretty busy and stressed for the past 5 months which is why you might have noticed I haven't been churning out a whole lot of art recently. As I said, hopefully my search is over, but no guarantees on that. I'm still owe people art and I just wanted to let you all know I haven't forgotten you.

My goal is to get my commission list back up so people can see where they are in the line up. To those of you who I owe bigger projects to I may finish commissions ahead of yours but I will give you regular updates on where I am your commission as well. I realize I haven't been very good (ok, down right terrible) about doing that and I will do better in the future.

Thank you all for your patience and support while I've been going through this rough patch in my life. You all have been very gracious, considerate and kind. This would have been a much darker time without you and I thank you.

O_O OMG, has looking for a job gotten like twice complicated and a thousand times stupider in the last six years or is it just that I have less of a tolerance for bureaucratic bullshit than I used to? Seriously. Half the time I want to apply for a job I found on one job site, I have to fill out a profile and submit a resume and everything. Takes awhile. Then I click the "apply for job" link only to be sent to a different job site that requires the exact same information. The best (read worst) one was when I filled out two separate profiles on two separate sites only to have the second site send me to the company's homepage and have me apply for the job through their site's interface which requires the EXACT same info I just filled out twice already.

It seems like most of these businesses are completely missing the point of these job sites. They collect all this information for you. More over, what is the point of having someone submit a resume if you're still going require that they fill out every single thing that's on the resume already through your stupid little web interface that makes the whole process take a half hour to complete? If someone already has a resume ready to go then they've already done the work. Now all you have to do is read the resume. Ya know, doing your job. If the resume doesn't have all the info you want then you can disregard it and be done. For god sake people at least invest a little time and have a script that at least searches the document submitted for all the relevant info. Most of the job sites do this which makes me so very grateful every time, but I've seen maybe one or two business websites that do this. Not small ones either, I'm talking international hotel chain level business. Hell that application included filling out the in depth application, a personality questionnaire and then taking a 50 question long quiz that wasn't even specific to the job I was applying for and they estimated it would take you an hour to complete.

Ok, done ranting. Long story short, applying for jobs is taking up a LOT more of my time than I anticipated. So apologies to those who are still waiting on stuff. I am still working on art, I just don't have the kind of time that I thought I would have to be working on stuff. I will get there though.

I am FINALLY done with all my course work for my second degree! OMG it feels good. Thanks to all of my commissioners for their patience while I've been working on this. If you won't mind me taking a weekend to celebrate... and clean my living area (finals are not kind to me) then I can FINALLY get around to all of those projects I had to put on hold!

I am taking three simple character sketch commissions. Basically they will look something like this: Line Art/Ink/Cell Shading. Only one character virtually no back ground. I'm willing to add in the base of a tree or mail box or light post for them to be leaning on things like that, but nothing major. I will do exact poses such as "I want my character to be standing/sitting/walking like this person in the photo" or I can go for just a general idea like "I want my character rave dancing" or "I want them to look goofy/shy/like a seductress".

Again I'm only taking three of these and they are first come first server. They are going for $20 each and I will have them done by this coming Friday. Payment via paypal and in advance only. I will post another journal as soon as I have all three so if you're reading this spots are still open.

I just read an article about a woman in my home town that went to Grace University who got in on a scholarship and was expelled half way through her last semester of her senior year because the college is religious and found out that she's in a relationship with another woman. Not only did they expel her half way through her last semester, but now they are demanding the $6000 in tuition for that semester that she wasn't allowed to finish and her scholarship would have covered. They already destroyed her dream of being the first member of her family to graduate college and now they are harassing her for money she doesn't have because she didn't get to finish her degree.

There is a Change.org Petition to get the university to leave this poor girl alone.

Frankly, I don't care if you think homosexual relationships are a sin or not this is just wrong. Not only is it wrong, but it's stupid. What have they accomplished by expelling her? She obviously hasn't broken up with her girlfriend and renounced her "sinful lifestyle". And why should she? Her girlfriend was there for her, loved her and supported her. What did the Christian's do? They showed praise and support for her achievements, but as soon as they found that she was a lesbian and dating another lesbian the withdrew their support, banished her from their midst and started hounding her for money they agreed to pay for when she started the semester. Give me one good reason why she or any other gay person would EVER care what the "Christian" churches think of them? Why would a gay person convert or come back to the church when the church is actively attacking them like this?

I was raised Catholic. I truly believed in Jesus and God and was a very devout Christian. I went to service every Sunday. I was very passionate about my faith and to extent I still am. I no longer go to church or consider myself Christian because I don't want to associate or be associated with any organization that condones this level of hypocrisy. There is a parable in the Bible (if people care I'll look up chapter and verse) that says that you will know what teachings are right and what teachings are wrong by their results. The Church's relentless assault on gays and gay marriage has done nothing positive. It has convinced parents that they should disown their children, made bullies feel like it is acceptable to pick on someone for being gay, made children lie to their parents and their family, and driven otherwise very devout Christians (I was considering entering Seminary in high school) away from the faith entirely. My parents have been attending the same church for over 25 years. In the past year they stopped going their because the new pastor was one of these young new priests straight out of Seminary who has a bug up their butt about gay marriage destroying the moral fiber of this country.

25 years they were loyal to that church. One guy shows up preaching hate and in a few months they've moved on. One priest tells me (in the confessional) that I'm going to burn in hell and instead of joining up to be a priest myself I leave the church entirely. The church constantly tells gays world wide that they are going to hell and convinces people that they are some kind of evil monsters and gays are treated as second class citizens, beaten in the streets, lynched, disowned, expelled, cast out, abandoned and spit on. Something is destroying the moral fabric of the US, but it ain't gay marriage. It's hate, and it needs to stop.

Hey everyone.  malachitetiger showed me this interesting site recently called habitRPG.com. The point of the website is that it treats your life like a video game. You set up tasks you need to complete and gain experience for completing them. Eventually you can cash in your experience for rewards and other things. As I'm currently doing my best to lose weight (down 18 lbs. so far!) I think this would be a great motivational too and just plain fun.

There is currently a kickstarter for the website going to allow for the development of a mobile app, a party system so you can compete against your friends or, I imagine, work with them to complete a large goal. I really want this to succeed because it's a really good idea and with some help it can realize its full potential. So if you like it like I do pledge your support. ^_^

I got The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics for Christmas so I figured I'd give some of the techniques and tools they have in the book for a whirl, so this one is a 6 panel comic! I know there are plenty of critics out there about doing the character auctions with multiple spots and getting randomly paired with someone, and originally I was going to not do one of those and then it occurred to me that, basically, that's what has happened on every single one of my couches and no one seems to have a problem with that so I don't really see why this would be a problem either. And if it is, then it is, oh well. I'm adaptable. =P
