TIME FOR A HORRIBLY LONG DRIVE WOO AND YAY
I'm going with bare essentials- thanks to my friend Farrah (who may, in fact, be an angel), I have a small collection of markers to use. I've got a borrowed sketchbook, borrowed pens and no print binder or signs for my table, lol. I'm doing small commissions there (no take-homes) to try and build a 'get me out of my shitty house situation' fund, so please come by and give me love. :>
Here's hoping it goes well... See you there!?!?!? D:
P.S. I look the same. Darker hair/autumny colours. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1406634/

IMPORTANT: If I owe you ART
Posted 16 years agoHey guys,
As most of you know already, the past year+ has been really rough. While things are definitely getting a bit better, I'm now in a situation that prevents me accessing ANY of my art or supplies. (I can't really talk about it so please don't ask.) This means, of course, that production is at a standstill and I don't know when I'll be able to resume work on the art I owe.
I've been making a modest but steady income, so if you're tired of waiting and are interested, I MAY be able to give you a refund. I would honestly like to trim down my list a little. If I haven't started work on your piece, a full refund is possible; if I have, money equivalent to the work not yet completed will be refunded, going by my usual price list. You will still receive the work I've finished when I can get to my art stuff again.
If I haven't started your piece and I owe you a sketch or inks, I can work on that with what I've borrowed at the place I'm staying. If you want a refund anyway, that's alright- ask me and we'll figure things out.
Sorry about this, I really am. This is a setback I really didn't need, but I hope I can keep everyone happy.
Much love, all.

Ain't that swell.
Sure, there's a credit there NOW, but I'm told that before, there was not only no credit, but my signature/watermark was cut off.
Credit now given to me or not, this person didn't ask before altering my art... and dammit, that's one of MY characters. I don't want her used for someone else's perving without at least ASKING me first. Jerks.
This should go without saying, but don't alter, recolour, trace or copy significant portions of my art without permission... don't use MY characters for other things without permission... and if you've been heavily enough inspired by one of my pieces that your piece/character looks similar, at least toss me a crediting link.
I work hard on this stuff, as all artists do. The art I create is dear to me, believe it or not, and it isn't cool when people go and bend, spindle, or mutilate that art for their own purposes.
At least ask, dudes. Odds are, I'll probably tell you to go for it- but ASK whether you think I will or not. I guarantee you that it'll piss me off to find that you've done something to my art without asking me first.
Permission is everything.

Posted 16 years agoTotally unexpected!
My phone rings, it's my buddy Shake/Azrael. He tells me that friends of his were supposed to go to the show tonight but that they can't make it, and he can't bring his girl because she's only 18. He asks me if I wanna go.
VERY YES!
It was fuckin' great. They were damn tight and the sound was amazing. The crowd was pretty nice too, no huge douchebags cramping my space or anything, and I saw people helping anyone who wiped out in the mosh pit. Yay!
Ok, I've gotta crash, I work in a few hours lolololol ohfuk

Where I stand on drug use.
Posted 16 years agoIn short: I support it.
Now, before you go running for the unwatch button, please let me explain.
I am an advocate for harm reduction and education. This means providing people with unbiased information so that they can make intelligent decisions. The current system in most places is prohibition, and it has been failing since its inception. Prohibition is exactly the same as teaching abstinence-only sex education; deny people the information they need to do things responsibly, and they WILL do it anyway, and end up hurting themselves and others in the process.
I also believe that drug prohibition is a violation of human rights. If you're using responsibly and not hurting yourself or others in the process, how is it anyone elses' business?
"But drugs ruin lives!"
Indeed, they can. I've seen it personally more times than I've cared to; at least one member of my extended family is on methadone, an old friend of mine is AWOL due to getting into needles, and I've met more than one person who was permanently mush-brained from too much pot or from constantly popping E.
So, why would I still support drug use?
First off, I have seen MANY more lives ruined by inactivity, eating too much, being an asshole, driving irresponsibly, drinking excessively, gambling, having unprotected sex, and playing too many video games. ANYTHING can ruin your life if you're stupid about it.
Instances of drugs ruining lives are because of irresponsibility, lack of moderation and discipline, and a lack of respect for the substances themselves. Saying that drugs ruin lives is the same sort of fallacy as saying that guns kill people. Yes, sure, a gun CAN be a part of making someone die; drugs CAN be dangerous. However, a gun without human influence is just an object. A tab of acid is not going to leap into your mouth and make you stab children. This sort of Reefer Madness-era nonsense persists today, and unfortunately demonizes a lot of innocent substances and the people who use them.
Notice I said 'innocent', not harmless. Taking the wrong thing for you, or too much of even the right thing can have negative to fatal consequences, which is why doing your research is so important. Drugs can be enjoyed safely and responsibly if you go about it right. Don't take ecstasy if you're on MAOI-antidepressants... Don't do psychoactives (hallucinogens; LSD, mushrooms, etc.) if you have schizophrenia or latent mental health issues. Know how to take care of yourself; learn how to keep yourself safe and healthy before, during, and after your trip.
I've heard so many stories about drugs supposedly hurting or killing people when it was not the drugs to blame at all. One story I caught years ago in the news claimed that a girl died from taking E; what ACTUALLY happened is that she popped a pill without knowing what the effects were or how to take care of herself while she was on it. She got a stomach ache (which is normal), and her friends freaked out and told her to drink a ton of water. She did... and ended up dying from water intoxication. OVER HYDRATION is what killed her. The pills had nothing to do with it. Every other supposedly ecstasy-related death I've heard of was actually because of over-hydration, dehydration, overheating, or nasty, not-supposed-to-be-there chemicals in the pills.
(That IS something that you must be careful of, but with legalization and regulation, that would no longer be a concern.)
Another perfect example is my own. A few years ago I got very, very sick with a nasty lung infection; I had a cough that felt like gargling razor blades and glass which was preventing me from getting any good rest, and my doctor prescribed me some extremely strong, Vicodin-containing cough syrup for it. I woke myself up coughing one night, and in my grumpy, groggy, bleary-eyed stupor, measured out one TABLESPOON of my medicine rather than the proper dose of one TEASPOON. When I tried to get up for work that morning with my alarm (I don't even know why I would try, but anyway), I realized that I was so drugged that I couldn't walk. I was pretty much useless for the rest of the day.
Now, did the cough syrup make me miss work, or did my own negligence? Pretty obvious, right?
"Drugs don't do anything good for anyone; they're just a temporary high. They don't accomplish anything."
I really have to argue against this one. Please, tell that to the millions of people who smoke pot to combat chronic pain, lack of appetite, insomnia, and other symptoms. Tell that to the close friend of mine who dropped acid when he was suicidally depressed and found a new lease on life because of his trip. Tell it to the tribes and modern-day mystics who use certain drugs as part of spiritual rituals and as a way to connect more deeply with nature and with each other.
I am absolutely not saying that drugs should be taken instead of trying to deal with things in other ways first, but they can sometimes be a legitimate way to improve one's life, as long as they are used with respect, responsibility, and caution, as always.
"Anyone who does drugs is a drug abuser."
This one really bothers me. I know so many amazing, talented, intelligent people who also happen to indulge occasionally. Any of you who have met me and know me half-decently, do you suddenly see me as a under-achieving, irresponsible, bumbling retard because I have the occasional toke?
I certainly hope not, and not even for my sake; that would be some very flawed logic!
The main problem I have with this is the enormous double standard attached to it. Do you realize that alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and MANY pharmaceuticals are drugs with addictive properties? BILLIONS of people are so addicted to caffeine that they cannot function properly on a daily basis if they don't get their fix (or several!), and it is so prevalent that it is institutionalized. In any given neighbourhood there is a shop where you can go buy your drugs in the form of coffee or tea.
But, Patches, you say. That isn't the same thing! But it IS, you see. It's accepted, though, so it's seen as different, whereas doing some lines on a Friday night with your friends makes you an evil, society-destroying hooligan. The media's demonizing of drug use, responsible or not, makes people afraid to even find out the truth, and that's a damn shame.
"I don't do drugs. Do you think badly of me for that?"
Gods, no! Use or lack thereof is ENTIRELY about personal choice, and if you've made an informed decision to not use, good on you! I'm absolutely not going to think poorly of you because of that.
The only time I may think negatively of someone who does not use is when they've made their decision based on media propaganda or other misinformation... or the types who say nasty things about drug users while drinking themselves sick. Hypocrisy FTL.
Alright, I'm starting to ramble, so I'll wrap this up. I decided to talk about this now because I have a fairly innocuous drug-related piece in the works, and I don't want people freaking out and thinking I'm some crazy junkie or something. O_o
Please, ask questions! I'm very much willing to help people understand this issue as much as possible.
And, well, if you feel the need to unwatch me anyway, so be it. Fare ye well and take care. :)

Sink or Swim
Posted 16 years agoLife's a big old mess right now.
Like the title says, I've reached a point where I really need to swim hard or I'll sink irretrievably, but the water I'm in is vast and dark and scary and I've got a DAMN long way to swim.
Not to say I'm not going to... it's just very hard right now. Hiding away and sleeping/messing around in a room (I don't have one of my own right now) is very hard to resist, and drinking too often is looking mighty appealing. I know none of that is gonna help me though, and I'm doing my best to pull myself out of this.
I have people here helping me, and I'm infinitely lucky and grateful to have them. Still, it's ultimately ME who has to help me most, and I'm my own worst enemy right now. I'm afraid of failure, afraid of success, even just afraid of the goddamn phone. I loathe the idea of going back to work and dealing with more psychopathic bosses who will hassle me or fire me for no good reason and add to my already cumbersome anxiety issues.
To make things even more difficult I have a medical condition that causes chronic, often debilitating fatigue, and food allergies that I can't afford to take care of, so my stomach hurts most of the time.
None of this is new, by the way- things have been spiraling down to this point for the last year and a half at least, if not more. I've been immature in many ways as an adult thus far, and I've come to the point where I need to learn the hard way and actually succeed, or become useless, go-nowhere gutter trash, and I sure as fuck am not interested in the latter option.
I'm not depressed. Stressed as shit, yes; scared, yes; sad and frustrated about all this, yes. But I'm as stubborn as any Taurus, and determined to get my fucking life back in order and better than it's ever been. I want to DO things with my life, dammit. I need to get to the point where I CAN.

Posted 16 years agoOkay, so I have to move all of a sudden. I have one week to pack up all my shit and move it to the place I'll be staying at... and I have a wedding to go to in the middle of that.
I don't want to get into the reasons for this but just keep in mind that this will mean more delays. I'm really sorry. I'll try to work on things as much as I can in between all this madness.

Copics and marker paper
Posted 16 years agoFinally got out to the art store today to grab a few of the colours I've been needing! They had Copics on crazy sale, so I got a few of those.
I now have four Copics, hahah. *pets them* One of them is
rithnok-coloured! :D
I also picked up a pad of smooth-surfaced marker paper, and upon testing my new markers on it...
Holy fuck, why haven't I been using this stuff this whole time? No WONDER my poor markers have been dying so fast- the paper I've been using from the start just sucks them right up.
Can't wait to do a proper piece on this stuff! So smooooth.
Larp this weekend, won't be around until Monday!

Commissioners please read! ALSO: Pee art, lol
Posted 16 years agoOk, so I've re-arranged my slightly scary commission list by TYPE, starting with standard badges, then moving up to the full page shebangs.
Things are still in the order that they were purchased, but by category now.
This is to make things a bit easier for me- Doing all the badges at once is simpler to keep track of than having them all over my list, right? :)
If you have any problems with this, PLEASE let me know. I aim to please, so if you'd like your piece by a certain date, drop me a note and I'll do my best to accommodate you!
The list is here: http://sarahsilver.livejournal.com/
More updates VERY soon, I inked a bunch of stuff last night.
Now for the note about watersports stuff! 8D
Just to avoid disappointing anybody, if you watched me just for that Peein' on *bucks piece, you're gonna be waiting a loooong time for anything else like that, hahah. It's cool with me if that's what you're into, I don't judge, but I also don't really draw that kind of stuff. It's just not my thing, y'know?
Just thought I'd mention, lol.

ONE BILLION ANTHROCON JOURNALS
Posted 16 years agoHey hey! Got back from AC alive and well, thanks in no small part to
popabear, our last-minute ride!
Arrived on Thursday in the afternoon; met up with
gravewalker who brought me and
tracer to the room we'd all be staying in... and we immediately passed right out.
I honest to gods don't remember the order in which most things happened (I really need ADD meds for next year- now I know), but here are some bits n' bobs in awesome point form.
- Artists' Alley for all three days; signups were much less painful than last year, and the actual setup time they gave us was really great. Kudos to AC staff for continually improving things!
- Ended up as 'Patchoulp' on my receipts for one of the days, lol.
- LOST MIKEYCAT and freaked right out, made a sign for my table, and nearly killed people with hugs when they finally found him a few hours later (THANK YOU SO MUCH, BUSHYCAT!). Turns out I dropped him on the sixth floor of the Westin in my rush to make it to signups... worst plushie mom ever.
- I bought the best squid plushie ever and named him Mister Blorp. They had an awesome octopus too but they were sold out by the time I got there.
- SO MANY AWESOME PEOPLE. Seriously. I can't even icon you all because it would just go on forever. You know who you all are; it was so amazing to see old friends again and to make new ones. I just wish we had more time to hang out!
- Yay, commissions! Despite my stressing out about it I managed to cover my con expenses just fine with a good bit to spare for bills and crap back home. Thank you SO much to everyone who supported me! I've got lots of homework now, but I'm in a good arting mood!
- Actually managed to do some trades this year! So happy that me and
ivybeth FINALLY managed to do the trade we've been trying to do for the past three ACs... and
vera and I drew each other very very similar pictures without talking about ideas first!
ritts drew awesome sexy bikini Weeko. fapfapfapfap. I LOVE TRADES, FUCK.
- Seeing Max, Gideon, Gnaw, and Mr. Person again was so awesome, but I was so bummed out that I couldn't go hang with them in Philly like we did last year. They're all so chill and great to be around. Ah well, next year!
- The sushi restaurant didn't serve tempura. Wtf.
All in all I had a blast- not quite as good as last year for me, but still well worth all the stressing out previous to the con. XD Next year, I start getting ready in March.
Haha, you all won't recognize me next year because I'll be BALD! :D
I lurve the lot of you. Thanks so much for making my AC a good one. <3
P.S. - If you ordered a commission from me, keep an eye on http://sarahsilver.livejournal.com/ for progress! Feel free to comment here, note me, or email me if you have any questions or concerns. :)

Polaroid badges! For AC and mailed!
Posted 16 years agoI need to scrape together more money for AC, so I'm offering a few slots for a new kind of badge. :)
These ones are meant to look like someone took a snap of your character with a Polaroid camera and then scrawled your name on the picture with a marker. :)
The only example I have is not worksafe, but you get the idea:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2398785
That's shown a bit bigger than life size. Comes laminated with a slot at the top. I can ship for $2 extra or just hand it over to you if you're going to AC. :)
$35, payment in advance, PayPal only. Please note me with your refs and then send payment to super_jocey at hotmail.com. Slots are reserved when payment is received.
Five slots!
1. Khaos_Silva
2.
3.
4.
5.
Thanks for lookin'! If you want to help but you're po' (I feel your pain!), please point other people in my direction. <3

Commish info & Characters website!
Posted 16 years agoI tossed my commission info and character refs into a couple simple webpages because my profile was looking a bit (a lot) cluttered.
Commission info & pricelist:

Character refs & info:

Please let me know if you find any broken links, or if you have any suggestions to make them easier to look at. :3

Commission info Livejournal!
Posted 16 years agoJust so you know, I have a journal over at http://sarahsilver.livejournal.com/ where I update my commission list.
If you've ordered art from me and want to keep updated on progress, there is the best place to do it! The entries are not locked, so you don't need an LJ account to view them. :)

Scraps dump!
Posted 16 years agoI tossed some bits n' bobs in my scraps- a few pieces of old art, some silly doodles, and some more-or-less recent pr0n that I forgot to post!
Go see. :)
Go see. :)
Character pinups! Discounted ftw! :D
Posted 16 years agoYour character, in a simple pose, clothed to naked, with a simple shape in the background to break up the whitespace.
Flat marker. $40. That's $10 off, folks!
Kind of like this, but without the shading: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2156244/
Three slots.
1. Magnus
2. Rithnok
3. Tamurross
Comment here to reserve, then note me with your refs.
Half payment first, other half upon completion. PayPal is super_jocey at hotmail.com
This is what is gonna make or break me gettin' to AC, so pretty please help me out with some pimpage if your wallet's hurtin' too. <3
HEY: If you don't want what I'm offering here but still want a commish, note me and we'll talk! I'll take pretty much anything right now.

Oh, fuck- PASSPORT!
Posted 16 years agoYeah, I don't have one... and I sure don't have the money for one.
I WOULD have time to get a rush order put through... but there's still the money issue.
I have no idea what to do about this. I'mma go figure that out... in the meantime, any ideas would be srsly awesome. D:

AC Meme, because you totally wanted to read another one
Posted 16 years agoWhere are you coming from?
Toronto, Ontario.
Why AC09?
I have a blast every year, I always meet neat new people, and I get to see old friends that live far away. This will be my fourth!
How are you getting there?
That is currently up in the air.
tracer is looking into buying a shitty old car to get us there... if that falls through, I really have no idea.
Anyone driving from/through Toronto on the way there?
What days will you be there?
No idea, that'll depend on Tracer, most likely. Probably the whole thing.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Most likely in the Artists' Alley, since I have to pay my way in art again this year. If I'm not in the Alley, look for me in the Zoo!
Where are you staying?
I have no idea. In some hotel. Not the Westin this time.
Who will you be with?
tracer and
gravewalker ! Possibly with
vera and her lovelies as well!
Party?
Yeah! Responsible partying is the way I go, though. Let's not ruin the hotel, you know?
Do you do free art?
If you do free art for me back! Oh wait, that's called a trade isn't it. Hurr. 8D If I want to draw for you and I have time, I will! HOWEVER, bitches gotta eat, so I do make exceptions for people who feed me. ;p
Do you do trades?
I fucking love trades and I'll do as many as I can. Don't be afraid to ask me!
Do you do commissions?
VERY YES. If I don't, I don't get to eat or get a ride home D:
I'll be in the Artists' Alley (hopefully) selling badges, blackbook/sketchbook drawings, some limited prints, and that sorta thing.
Do you have prints/ CDs ?
I'll probably have some cheap prints again this year, but no CDs.
Do you do badges?
They're my meal ticket! I'll have standard badges, cute chibi/super deformed badges, silly treasurefur badges, and extra fancy die-cut shaped badges, with a laminator on-hand!
What is your gender?
Bio-female, two-spirited otherwise. I don't object to female pronouns.
How old are you?
Twenny-fur.
Are you taken?
That's a bit more complicated than it was last year; just assume I am, plz. <3
Do you have a s/o and will they be with you?
Again... kinda complicated. Sort of?
Can I talk to/hang out with you?
Yeah, for sure! Just please don't be offended if I seem distracted or anything- AC is stupid busy for me, I hardly sleep while I'm there, and when you pile that on top of pre-existing ADD... well, you get the point. I'm friendly though! Do come say hi! :3 I love sitting around and drawing with people, too!
Can I touch you?
Um D:
Hahah. Hugs and stuff are cool, I'm a very easygoing person. Just please ask if you want to touch my hair, it skeeves me out when people just come up and grab a handful. D:
HOW TO FIND ME:
I'm around 5'7", and fairly thin/fit-ish. I have dark blonde/brightly dyed (not sure what colour they'll be by AC) dreadlocks down to my thighs- pretty hard to miss. I've always got a bandana on, and I wear big spants/shorts or snug 3/4 jeans, some sort of chunky necklace, and either big ridiculous stompy Swear shoes or chucks. 99% of my shirts are black. You'll probably see me wearing my tail, which is very fluffy and striped in black and white, and black and white kitty ears swept back by a bandana. I wear glasses and I've got a pierced lip and septum. I'll likely have a clearish art box with me full of markers and stuff, and probably a black backpack. I'll have Mikeycat with me- he is big and orange and has a very big grin, he's hard to miss.
Will have a variety of badges on that say 'Patches'!
Pictures to help you find my stupid faice:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?p.....p;id=510992501
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?p.....p;id=510992501
Do approach! I love meeting people and chatting and doing sketch or badge trades! Room parties are awesome too!
Things to keep in mind:
I'm very easily distracted. I can't remember names for the life of me! I barely sleep at AC so I might be a bit zonked. DO say hi, give hugs, ask to trade with me, bring me to art jams, or help my po' ass by buyin' some arts! :D
Other cons I may go to:
All that is up in the air, this year! Camp Feral! is a maybe if I have the money (since I took a break from being on staff this year), and I think me and Fuzzy are going to MFF? I don't know! :D
