Surgery! + General Life Update
Posted 9 years agoGood stuff:
I have a surgery scheduled for November 3rd. I'm quite nervous, but also cautiously optimistic that this is a step in the right direction. I am having a partial-wrap Nissen Fundoplication performed to recreate my lower esophogael sphincter. This should, hopefully, fix the majority of my problems with acid reflux. Since I am young and have problems with dysphagia, the surgeon will only perform the partial wrap instead of the full wrap (270 degrees as opposed to 360 degrees).
The recovery time from the procedure is six weeks, so I will have a lot of down time to hunt for more jobs!
I passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam earlier in the summer, so I have been fortunate enough to receive my engineer-in-training certification from the state.
Bad stuff:
Unfortunately, my home life has only become more difficult, and is very physically and emotionally taxing.
I have been staying with my parents. My recovering-opiate-addict aunt and adult-autistic cousin have also failed to move out of my parents' house and have become a financial burden for my parents, using up what limited resources my parents already had. I do not anticipate my home life improving any time soon, so I have been working on finding a stable engineering job so that I can separate from my family. It's one of those "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink" type of situations... I no longer have the energy to be the only one "trying" in the entire house.
Other stuff:
I'm still around on telegram!
(Also if my cutey buffo boyfriend is looking, I miss your face)

Absence
Posted 9 years agoI want to inform watchers and friends that I will be not posting any content to any of my accounts (FA, dA, FN, etc.) as I do not have access to a computer for the indefinite future. A family situation has displaced me out of the space that I had at my parents' house and I do not believe that the space will become available to me again any time soon (aunt and cousins moved in with my parents). This was unexpected for me, as I was hoping to live with my parents for a short while after graduation.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Until I find employment, it is unlikely that I will be able to have regular web access except for through my phone.

Watchers - what type of art would you like to see more of?
Posted 9 years agoI'm trying to broaden my range. I feel like I haven't made as much progress lately as I would have liked.
Is there a particular type of art, subject matter, etc., that you would like to see me attempt? I'm all ears!
(please note that this isn't asking for requests, per se - I can not guarantee that I will be able to make all of what's suggested :). Sorry!)

Monitor Color Correction Help?
Posted 10 years agoWhen viewing images, I notice a large discrepancy between my laptop's LCD screen, my secondary LCD monitor, and my smart phone / other devices. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting my monitors corrected?
Rainfurrest
Posted 10 years agoI was hoping I was going to get to go this year, but it doesn't look like things will line up. I'm still getting over a nasty cold, and I just started back at university and already have homework!
Oh, well. There's always next year!

A very nice list of creative software

Sometimes, people ask what software I use when working. The short answer is "lots."
Digital art is a lot like traditional media. While everything pretty much does the same thing, there's lots of little differences and advantages between programs. Go out and experiment!
