Update / Emergency Adopts??
Posted 7 years agoHi guys. Sorry for all my sporadic updates and inactivity, as per usual. This is a journal I didn't really want to have to make, but there's no use pretending it's not happening, so here we are.
My father passed away on March 26th. It was unexpected. Quite honestly, it was a bit of a freak accident -- but that's all I'll get into about what caused it right now. Unfortunately, with my father no longer here and my mother in a nursing home, I'm being forced to move out of our home. I've found a place to stay, luckily, but now it's come down to money. My job has been cutting hours nonstop, I still have bills I need to pay, and I've gotta try and help my aunt pay off the funeral expenses - she's $3,000 in the red after paying off what my dad's life insurance didn't cover. I plan on doing some emergency adopts when I've got enough time to sit down and work on them (right now everything is an absolute mess), but until then -- and I hate doing this, because I hate being looked at as if I'm begging for money -- I've created a Ko-fi page, for anyone who would like to donate a little to help me out.

bad news all around
Posted 8 years agoso time sort of. got away from me. as did everything else.
my mom got really sick, was in a lot of pain. she had an infection in her leg. she's in the hospital right now, and they're trying to get her hemoglobin levels stable so they can operate.
her leg is being amputated because it can't be saved.
we hope she'll make it through the surgery and recovery. if she doesn't, well. that's another story entirely. if she does, she has to go into a nursing home. it's all really hectic right now.
i want to start taking commissions again soon, because if she goes into a nursing home, we stop receiving her portion of income. which means we could lose the house since we would barely be receiving enough to cover our bills. if i can make enough to help try and keep us afloat for a little while until im able to get more hours at my new job, then i think that'd help matters a lot. as it is right now we're kind of... waiting and watching. even the doctors arent sure of her odds once she gets in surgery.

life update!!
Posted 9 years agoso! hi guys! it's been... a while! I've been super busy. My first year of college has been an experience so far! It's going pretty okay, though. Besides school, I've been focusing on work. In September I got a job at a Halloween store, and then once that ended in November I had to go job hunting again lmao. The good news is I just got hired at Spencer's! (For those of you who know what that is.)
Obviously art and posting here hasn't been a big focus for me, and I apologize. I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to art. Things just.. got really busy. There's been a lot going on - some good things, some bad, but that's just how it is sometimes. I've been rolling with the punches and I've been able to overcome the curveballs thrown my way, so.. I think I'll be able to keep that up! I've had to come to terms with a lot - the loss of friends I thought would stick with me forever, realizing that sometimes losing them feels a little like mourning but worse. Realizing that sometimes removing yourself from people won't help, that it's important to go out and keep carrying on. Just one day at a time. I know there are a lot of people who won't read this, but for those of you that are still sticking with me, thank you!
I don't really have much as far as a timeline goes for this year, I'll be honest. My fall semester ends December 23rd, and my spring semester doesn't start until late January, as far as I know. I'm going to try my best to squeeze in one or two pieces here, maybe a YCH and some adopts, who knows! If I don't end up posting, it's probably because work and trying to maintain a healthy social life along with other responsibilities have me pretty tied up. As for any other plans this year?? I don't know! The only thing I think is worth mentioning that's far off is that I'll likely be going to Zenkaikon with a friend from college, so that's cool! I've never been to a con before. I wanna cosplay but.. I'm plus size, so I feel like my options are limited. I'm considering Bee from Bee & Puppycat, because her outfit seems simple and I have... approximately no fucking experience whatsoever with making cosplays. Props to all of you that do! (also, feel free to leave me easy cosplay beginner cosplay ideas in the comments!) The bonus is that John Patrick Lowrie will be at the con!!! i love him!!! so much!!! i might just cry if we actually get to meet him lmao.
I know this is just me talking about myself and life and little things but tbh? It doesn't bother me too much if people don't read it. Things aren't.. super duper easy right now, but I'm managing. And I'm proud of myself. So I guess putting this out there isn't so much because I want attention, but because I just kinda? Want proof for myself that I'm getting through it. Who knows, maybe things will take a drastic turn and I'll feel like everything is going wrong and I can come back and look at this and remind myself that I've gone through plenty of bad things and I've endured them all.

Posted 9 years agoSO hey ya'll. i know i haven't been super active on this account and i'm sorry. i've been suffering from a months long art block and honestly?? it seems like i'm not gonna be getting back in the saddle anytime soon. i feel like i can't draw no matter how hard i try and everything comes out looking awful. in the meantime i'll probably end up posting lots of adopts (using bases most likely) and maybe doing some $5 customs since i am currently in need of money because there's. a lot coming up in life for me (possibly including surgery) but everything is gonna be pretty expensive. thanks for sticking with me though, you guys! it means a lot.Taking 2 wing it commissions - 2/2 OPEN

Also I've been worrying about college stuff and about my parents and their health and just. IT'S STRESSFUL YA'LL. But I've been finding little things that make it worth it. Anyways, I have design/reference sheet commissions open. $45 USD for each one, which includes the front & back view, the color palette, info, and one bust. If you want to add more things like accessories, outfits, more busts (Which I usually use to show different hairstyles or expressions), it'll cost extra. Posted 10 years ago╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━❤━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮So today's date has like, a ton of different 'meanings'(i dont know what other word to use weeps) for me?? Okay well that's a lie, there's only three-- Either way.
We all know about St. Patrick's Day, or rather, most of us do, so, happy St. Patrick's day you guys!! I hope those of you who celebrate it have a really great time!
The second meaning is kind of sad, so I'm sorry for that, I don't wanna make anyone sad! My aunt Trish died two years ago today. She was an amazing woman, and she had been such a positive, supportive force in my life. My regret about her death is that I didn't say goodbye. I had the chance to-- But I didn't. I was told by her daughter that if I went to see her, I couldn't break down/get upset/cry etc. And I sort of knew that I wouldn't have been able to not do that. So I didn't go with my mom when she went to visit her. I was never offered another chance and about a month later she died. I still don't know how I feel at this point?? Like I'm still so so sad and it hasn't gotten better or easier??? Ah well
However!! The third thing is really happy!!!

Posted 11 years agoSo a few days ago I made a joke to my friend superspooked that I'd do a watcher raffle when I hit 420 followers, because I missed it when I hit 400. And well...here we are! I want to thank everyone who's supported me thus far! You guys are great!
There will be three winners. They'll have the choice of getting either an icon, a headshot or a custom design. (Designs will be done with REKUUHH's base!)
RULES:
1. You must be watching me, as this is a gift for my watchers. Additionally, if you begin watching me after this journal has been posted, I will write your name down, and after the raffle I will check to see if you're still following me. Basically, two artists trade characters. Their OC becomes yours and vice versa! Now I've seen some different rules about this but here are the first ones I saw that I guess I'm going with?
You may give them haircuts and new outfits.
You may draw super porn of them if you want.
They’re YOURS for December. DO WHAT YOU WANT.
You may NOT draw the OC you trade away for the month. At all. When you get them back, it’s up to you whether or not their adventures were canon. But for December, they are out of your hands.
Obviously, only do this with a friend that you TRUST COMPLETELY. Or a friend that you don’t trust at all and want to watch bad things potentially happen to your OC. Or fun things. Who knows.
Obviously, if you depend upon your OCs for a living, be careful trading them away! You won’t be able to draw them. You can use your borrowed OC in their stead, though.
There was one rule about being able to profit off of them that I removed, because that sorta made me uncomfortable--
