Impending Art Dump
Posted 11 years agoI promised my manfriend Martin that in the next few days I'd actually make an effort to upload the 30+ pieces of art I have amassed from some really great artists, as well as work on the script for my profile info. In the meantime, please feel free to ask for my info if you'd like it, and enjoy the bajillion pieces of art I am about to dump on you.

How To Get Rid Of Dandruff (On Humans)
Posted 11 years agoSo this may seem random. But if it helps ONE person I will have succeeded. A brief anecdote:
I was shopping at Best Buy the other day, looking for a wireless mouse to play more league I mean make more excel spreadsheets for class. A wonderful sales associate popped over to help me. And he sure knew his stuff. He was friendly and didn't feed me bullshit. He truly wanted to get me a good deal. Unfortunately, this wireless mouse superhero had a bit of a design flaw. He had dandruff. Like a lot of it. It cascaded in a tiny avalanche onto his blue polo-clad shoulders. When he reached up to touch his head, it released a tiny, disgusting flurry of dead skin. It was gross. No matter how much this guy knew or how kind he was, I was fixated on his scalp droppings.
The word "dandruff" actually means a flaky, itchy scalp caused by a fungus, but it has also come to mean flakes caused by dry scalp or product buildup. Dandruff caused by fungus tends to be thick and white, with fairly large flakes noticeable at the hair root. Dandruff caused by dry skin or product buildup tends to be smaller and more translucent. Try out some of these solutions and see if they make a difference.
1. DON'T wash your hair in scalding hot water. Look. I get it. Terrifyingly hot showers are my thing too. I love the steam. However, really hot water dries the living crap out of your scalp, so try to avoid it if you can. Use lukewarm instead.
2. DO brush or comb your hair before you shower. This will loosen some of the dead skin you already have hanging out up there, and will get rid of a lot of it while you shower.
3. DON'T use "clinical strength" products every day. These often contain harsh active ingredients (like coal tar) that will only irritate your scalp more if you use them on a daily basis. These products will also do a number on colored hair, so if you have an expensive dye job, I recommend only using them about once a week.
4.DON'T go ham on styling products. Things like mousse, gel and hairspray can leave residues that build up over time, especially if you're loading up on them in the morning and not washing them out at night.
5. DO make sure you're rinsing out all of your shampoo and conditioner in the shower. This may seem like a no brainer, but much like with the styling products, the excess buildup will dry out your scalp and provide more fuel to your flake fire. Rinse your hair out for a minute longer than you think you need to.
6. DO check the ingredients list on the hair products you already use. Ingredients like parabens, sodium laureth or lauryl sulfate could be irritating your skin and causing itching and flaking. Experiment with organic products and see if you notice a difference.
7. DO try tea tree oil. This is a natural way to combat fungus.
8. DO see a medical professional if the dandruff is persistent seemingly no matter what you do. Dandruff could be a sign of an imbalanced diet or a myriad of other potential problems. Better safe than sorry.

((Rant)) People Who Demand More Content From Artists
Posted 11 years agoI just wanted to get this out here before I fell into a nice NyQuil-induced coma for 10 hours. I've seen it a lot lately and it's really bothering me, especially since it's something I have experienced.
If a person is making free content, whether it be songs or animations or comics or whatever, you as a viewer don't have room to bitch when the creator doesn't upload as quickly as you deem fit.
Don't get me wrong, if you pay for a service (like subscribing to a comic network) then you probably have a case if the artist gets really laggy or uploads far less than their best. But if you're an average joe who demands entertainment from creators, then you might suck.
Any creator of high quality content will tell you that every song, animation or drawing takes hours. It's a labor of love that they put out for their fans with no expected return other than praise and intelligent feedback. Some get paid, but most don't. They just do it because they love it, and because they appreciate their fan base. But many of these creators have lives (full time jobs, school, kids) that take up a lot of their time. Sometimes they don't feel like drawing or they're too exhausted to work on a project. And what do they get from fans when they don't quite make a deadline? Bitching. Even if the creator finds a bit of filler to tide their fans over they will bitch about that too.
Jaltoid, a semi-popular animation team on Youtube, has said that they feel less and less inclined to produce content when all their fans do is bitch about how long it takes for them to pump out a high quality 4 minute video. Many artists have said similar things. The constant negativity turns their labor of love into an obligation for an ungrateful fanbase, and many stop creating all together.
Even in my own experience as a fan fiction writer, constant begging for updates and new content made writing a chore. It seemed that no matter how much I put out it wasn't enough. There was no sympathy for me when I got sick or had major school obligations, these were simply tagged as "excuses" and added to their growing list of complaint of how I was a "lazy" writer and didn't deserve my fans.
What these complainers don't seem to understand is that their constant whining actually makes creators want to put out less. They start to feel as though whatever they do is wrong. Put out new content and it's criticized for being low quality or filler. Don't put out new content and you're suddenly a lazy bum who sits around all day eating Cheetos and lying on the couch. It's time to cut it out. These creators aren't your slaves and they shouldn't be treated as such. They don't have to update for you and you should feel grateful when they do, because it means they spent hours and hours doing something for free that'll get ripped apart in the comments anyway.
So do I wish Tamyra put out more Tristan comics?
YESSSSSSS.
Do I have any right to demand them and harass her for them?
no.

Much Journal. Wow.
Posted 11 years agoI don't think I've ever done a proper journal, but now that I have some watchers due to my most recent art dump, I figured I'd say hey.
I had a major first world problem when I was uploading all of that art. It was getting to be a real pain to figure out what artist did what and where I saved each piece on my computer (because I did not have the foresight to do something crazy like I don't know name the pictures things that made sense and organize them carefully into little folders). At one point I had about 20 tabs open trying to keep everything straight and give all of the amazing artists their proper credit.
On that note I wanted to make a quick shout out to any artist who worked with my picky butt (Smaller boobs. Smaller. Nope, smaller) and also to my mate Martin for the use of his character and for gifting me a lot of art.
When I get a functioning scanner that can efficiently scan colored pencil drawings without making them look like shit on a stick, I'll upload some of the sketches and full color pieces I've been doing lately.

Liferien
Posted 13 years agoEveryone seems to get commissions from the same few artists these days...
Wouldn't it be nice to get something a little different from an artist with reasonable prices and undeniable style?

Liferien has some great stuff going on, and definitely deserves your consideration if you're in need of an updated character piece or whatnot.
