Fixing my truck
General | Posted 9 years agoI've been saying it for a while now but my truck is in need of work. This week sometime I'll be ordering the parts, getting some new tools and spending some quality time banging my knuckles.
A few weeks ago, I met my financial savings goal to be able to road trip to Biggest Little Fur Con so I can see my best friends again and have a shit ton of fun. This week, I've been able to meet my savings goal for the work I need to do to my truck.
So I'll be taking my absolutely mint 1993 Ford Ranger (4.0L pushrod, 5 speed, manual t-case, manual hubs, 28 spline Ford 8.8 axle, Dana 35 TTB front) into my local 4wheel Parts store to have them install a leveling kit, do an alignment and do my rear brakes. A family member was very generous and offered to pay for the brake service, so depending on the price difference, I may take advantage of them doing a rear disc brake swap instead of redoing the drums. I may have them do the shocks too just because I'll have my truck in there, but that depends on the final cost of that stuff being done.
When all that's been done I'll be doing the following
-New K&N Airfilter
-New spark plugs (exhaust smells raw and the O2 sensors are in good condition)
-CNC Rear diff cover
-Lube Locker gasket for the rear
-c-clip eliminator kit (might be done in the fall or over the summer)
-Maybe the shocks on my own
-Removing the front air dam
-a good cleaning in the nooks and crannies of the engine bay
So I'll need to get a good set of spanners, wrenches and screw drivers, a spark plug socket, jack stands, an impact gun, high lift jack and a bed mounted toolbox for all of it.
I've been toying with the idea of getting a lunchbox locker for the rear diff but I don't think my truck spends enough time in the dirt to really justify that. Maybe when I get some good mud terrain or all terrain tires over the summer I'll go ahead and do that too. It needs some work, but it'll be a nice trail and daily driver truck soon.

Updates
General | Posted 10 years agoNothing is happening. I'm updating this for the sake of updating it.
I still haven't been going to the gym or trying to better myself. School is fine for now.
Firearm plans are on hold so I can get my truck fixed (or at least get the roached brakes dealt with) and I'm going to BLFC to see my friends again.
Good chance I will have an AR15A4 by that time but we'll see. Depends on whether Colt has the manufacturing power they did to make deliveries by early May or else I'll be waiting until August to pick it up.
So long as work is steady, I'll be good.

Merry Christmas!
General | Posted 10 years agoDue to some extenuating circumstances regarding my immediate family, we will be celebrating Christmas tomorrow afternoon.
So I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone who watches me, and my best friends friends a Merry Christmas, from myself and my family. I hope that you all enjoy the holidays with your families, friends, drinking buddies or however you celebrate.
Merry Christmas you guys, you mean the world to me. Have fun and be safe.

Midwest Furfest debrief (actually this time)
General | Posted 10 years agoOkay, so my last journal was facetious but I really did have a grand time.
Since this was my first con, I went in not knowing what to expect, what I was going to see, or who I was going to meet.
All I can say is that I had the absolute best time of my life. I met some of the best people I've ever encounter and got to room with two of the best guys I know as well as Pinku and Vellux.
It was definitely overwhelming at first since the only sort of things I've ever done like this are gun shows and FFLs aren't exactly the nicest people in the world. There was not a single artist or dealer that I didn't enjoy talking to.
I got to commission some awesome artists including Tygurstar and Scottishwolf, I won a print from Pinku in the art show and I got all sorts of cool shit.
I wish I could do a play by play but that would be like 50 pages long. I just want to thank everyone I met and stayed with for making my first con so amazing and so special for me. I can't wait to see what's next in store for me (roadtrip to Reno maybe?)!
