Passed Away
General | Posted 18 years agoA short while ago I received the call that no one wants to get. The call letting you know that a loved one has passed away. My grandpa passed away this afternoon. I guess I just wanted to take a moment to say a few words to remember him by...
My grandpa was always a jokester. He loved to say jokes. He was an amazing accountant and people came to him for accounting even after he had retired. I remember times when I was studying for my Bar Mitzvah when I would sit in his house with him and Grandma and I would study my Haftorah portion and he would listen to me. Grandma, Grandpa, and I used to play cards all the time too. My grandpa would hardly ever smile for pictures, but at my Bar Mitzvah, we got him to smile for a very nice picture. We would always have Thanksgiving at my grandparents house and it was always a nice meal. And Passover won't be the same without him either.
While I was home over winter break, I only saw Grandpa a little because I wanted to make sure I remembered him for the way he was. This past year, he hasn't truly been himself because he had gotten ill. There were times when we thought he wasn't going to make and he pulled through....but finally, old age caught up to him. It's a sad thing, but I can't help but remember all of the things he had been through and I know that he lived a long, full life. He was a father to two and a grandfather to four. He had no siblings, but he was always loved.
May he rest in peace.

Sick Grandfather
General | Posted 18 years agoMy grandfather is currently not doing so well...we don't expect him to last much longer. He has been sick for a while but he had started to do better...He even sounded like his old self again at Thanksgiving. But after that he started to go down hill...and he's been even worse this past week...we think he only has a few days left. Luckily, he's being kept comfortable. It's a sad time but every life has to end sometime. Luckily he had a long, happy life until this past year. If we're lucky, he may come out of this latest down slide and last for a little while longer...but it doesn't seem likely. I'm already mentally prepared to say goodbye to him. It will be tough, but I will make it through it.

The Golden Compass
General | Posted 18 years agoI just saw The Golden Compass today. And it was probably one of the best movies I've seen since Transformers. There was a lot of action and violence and the story was good too. I give it two thumbs up....well...if I had thumbs considering I'm a cheetah....
Anyways, this is the part where I tell you the parts that I liked about it so if you don't want any spoilers don't read after this part. You can read after the marks at the bottom.

First off, I found it kinda ironic that I was talking to a lady with her daughter before hand saying that just because they say it has graphic violence that it's going to be very violent....boy was I wrong. Spoiler #1: Someone's jaw gets ripped off.
Next, I'd like to say that Pan was kick ass. He was so adorable and he would change shapes too. Spoiler #2: Pan is a wuss...but he's a cute wuss.
Finally, I just want to say that right from the start you could tell that the movie was going to be long. It was beautifully done. Final Spoiler: The evil lady is Lyra's mother.

Extra info: Jake is a newcomer to F.H.S. and sticks out like a sore thumb. Looking the part of a typical goth, he typically wears alot of black, black eyeliner, and black lipstick. He tries to stay away from most folks, but will stand up to anyone who tries to bully others. He wears a rainbow bracelet and earring, not bothering to hide his true nature. His most prominent feature is his eyes, one green and one brown. His piercing gaze seems to stare straight into the soul of anyone looking, and his gloomy attitude usually sets others off. He typically speaks in a low, dark sounding tone that seems to reverberate in the listener's skull.

I've been quite busy lately with working on a new story which I'm hoping to get published. I have also been working (very slowly, mind you) on Who said High School would be easy? Things will definetely be interesting in chapters 6-10. After that, I should end the first part of it. Then I'll have the second part...but I'll talk more about that in a future journal.
Also, I'd like to talk a little bit about my new story that I've been writing. It's based in the future. There are two planets at war with each other. One that is filled with taurs, the other with anthros. Within this war, there are secrets. A young vixen leads her troops to ambush a taur camp. However, they are caught off gaurd and the surviving troops remain captured. The young vixen is put under the watch of a young chitaun. The story progresses onward and more surprising events take place.

I guess I should explain about chitauns. Chitauns are a race that I myself have created. They are similar to Chakats but they are not chakats. They were genetically engineered by chakats in the year 2732. They are either male or female but never hermaphrodite. The females can only get pregnant from chitauns. Adults stand between 4' to 5' tall and weigh between 210 and 300 lbs. They are always cheetah based and are built for speed and agility. They are faster than chakats, but not as strong. Their tails have bones in them that they can pull in or push out in a mace like fasion.
Chitauns have a strong belief in a being known as Trija, or great intelligence. They believe that the smarter a species is the closer to Trija that species is. That is why they look upon chakats with high respect and they find it a great honor when a chakat chooses one of them for a mate.
Another unique attribute about chitauns is that their genes cannot be mixed with other species' genes. Therefore if they do get pregnant or impregnate another species, then it will be either that species or a chitaun, not a mixture of the two.

There's still a few things I need to do to get ready to go...like clean out the car. But those are stuff that I'll do later. But anyways, this means that after Wednesday, I'm not sure how long it's going to be till I have internet again. Hopefully it won't be long.
