Night of The White Bat completed, now moving forth.
Posted 3 years agoI take this opportunity to apologize to anyone who has posted comments or sent messages to my profiles as these have remained without reply.
The last couple of months I kept myself away from any activity in social media or any of my art profiles as I wanted to focus on fully completing “Night of The White Bat” and as such completely logged off these sites and even avoided looking at theses to avoid unnecessary distractions. Nevertheless, as you can see by my latest activity NOTWB has been finally completed and delivered.
This comic was a long term project that despite the delays and its prolonged delivery was a commitment I did not want to give up on or abandon. It was as much a learning experience as a personal challenge and in all honestly it was a huge relief once I finalized and posted the last pages. Believe me, there were days were I felt I had bitten way more than I could chew, but I knew it would feel even worse not seeing it through. Besides, it is not as if the comic was my only output during its creation or the only endeavor occupying my attention (more on that later).
I can only hope most people that have followed the comic so far or have discovered it recently do find the end product enjoyable for what it is. What truly matter is that I can finally say that it is a completed project and as the proverb goes: “Better late than never”.
In the meantime I’ll be going through my comments and private messages as there is certainly plenty for me to catch up on and I’ll be replying and tending to this for the time being. After that I’ll be resuming regular activity and will be able to interact more with the community as focus on single art pieces and shorter term projects will be my focus from now on.
As I mentioned before, there was another endeavor that occupied part of time as well. In an effort to expand my knowledge I spend well over a year painstakingly going through Richard William’s Animator’s Survival Kit as part of my desire to expand and improve my skill base. As such now that the comic has wrapped up I plan to dedicate time to creating animation loops and clips which are the type short term projects I was talking about. I really did not want take on creating animation without a proper understanding of the theory behind it, hence why I took my time to really learn the theory behind this type or art and now that I have, I will put it into practice. So now I will have a new type of content to offer regularly together with my drawings and illustrations. (There is an animation loop that I have in-the-works right now to showcase as part of these efforts and will be up as soon as it is completed).
As always, I’ll look forward for your feedback and see what I can do to continue to deliver content you’ll find of your liking and for your support to make these effort possible.

Sorry for the lack of activity
Posted 4 years agoMy apologies for the lack of updates and general absence as of late. I had been indisposed due to tendinitis in my right shoulder (dominant arm) causing stiffness and pain all last month. As such drawing was, as you may imagine, not quite feasible. Thankfully I'm better now.

UPDATE - Recovering PC from Operating System Wipe

EVERYTHING IS BACK TO WORKING ORDER, I'VE BEEN TESTING AND USING THE COMPUTER FOR A FEW DAYS NOW TO ENSURE NO REMISSION WOULD OCCUR BEFORE POSTING AN UPDATE ON THE SITUATION. THE COMPUTER IS BACK AT 85% - 90% OF WHAT IT ORIGINALLY WAS. THERE ARE STILL A FEW SETTINGS AND MINOR DETAILS TO IRON OUT BUT FOR THE MOST PART IT IS IN A STABLE, WORKING CONDITION STATE. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONCERN AND I'LL SEE YOU SOON WITH NEW POST IN THE COMING WEEKS.

Letting you know that the lack of recent updates has been due to a hardware malfunction of my main PC. The solid-state-drive where Windows was located suffered a complete wipe, the drive itself is unreadable and data recovery is not viable.
ALL ART FILES ARE SAFE AS I'VE MADE COPIES OF IT TO AN EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE.
Nevertheless the operating system had to be reinstalled from scratch on a new drive and everything has to be reconfigured to the state it originally was (or as close as possible) which is going to take a while to get things back up-and-running. (Program settings, keyboard shortcuts, passwords, general configuration options, drivers, etc.)
If for this reason I'm unable to post new content this month I'll pause Patreon so no one gets a charge at the beginning of the month.
My apologies for the inconvenience this may cause. I'll update you as soon as everything gets back on track.

Posted 8 years agoNOTICE: I've included a couple of additions to my “Terms of Service” regarding the number of pieces that can be commissioned at once per client. The new terms are as follows:
- The number of commission per slot are limited to six (6) for Black and White pieces (Sketches and Clean Inks) and one (1) for all Color pieces (Flats, Speed, Hard Cell, Soft Shaded and Painterly).
- Commissioners can purchase a maximum of 3 slots, either consecutive or in separate order within the available open queue.
These new terms are being established to ensure a faster turnaround of commissions between slots and to open commission queues more frequently. All other previous terms continue to apply.

KITTY KATSWELL & more uploads very soon
Posted 8 years agoJust to let everyone know that I've completed and delivered all pieces in my commission queue. Now that I've fulfilled those previous outstanding commitments with clients I'll be able to dedicate my focus towards my Patreon projects and pics which means more frequent updates as well, not only on Patreon but on all my public sites as well.
I want to apologize for the lack of uploads this month due to the next-to-last commission being a long series of character sketches (17 characters in total) that the commissioner payed with a PRIVACY clause in mind so no uploads to this or any site is possible.
Recently I completed the latest winner of the Patreon Poll which was Kitty Katswell in three versions: Jumpsuit, Nude and French Maid outfits (last one suggested by patrons) and it is already available on my Patreon, together with wallpapers, PSD format files and even a timelapse of the whole painting process. As always I'll upload versions of these images later on the rest of my profiles. I decided to keep the poll and the ability to vote and suggest costumes as a Patreon only feature.
You can also expect more consistent previews and updates to "Night of The White Bat" from now on.
I don't discard taking commission further down the line but it will be done it a far more limited matter as I took too much of a workload at once previously which hindered my output in the long run, but in the meantime you can expect to see more of a personal spin to my output from now on.
I want to thank all of my Patreons and followers for your continued support, views and comments and that I'll do my best to fulfill my duty towards you for said trust.

Posted 9 years agoJust to let everyone know that I apologize for the recent delays regarding the delivery of commission and assure everyone that has commissioned me that work is still ongoing and I'll do my best to deliver to each an everyone in as satisfactory a matter as possible.
Also the comic “Night of the White Bat” is still ongoing, it really pains me to keep people waiting for more updates on this front, some real life circumstances coming at a bad time have messed up my schedule, but I'm not quitting on delivering this project, this is something I promised myself I want to see completed. While the Patreon initiative still hasn't hit the minimum goal I set up for the project to move forward, it has slowly grown and has had a positive reception so far, of that I cannot be thankful enough for this to everyone who has contributed.
Regarding the upcoming Character Poll, it will be up next week as well as a preview page of NOTWB. Additionally I'll prepare a special set of wallpapers based on the recent collection of sketches but with added color to live them up and make them desktop worthy.

Contact me through the email: scificat@hotmail.com, this email is for commission related purposes only, this email is not linked to Paypal so DO NOT SEND PAYMENTS through it.
I'll issue a Payment Invoice to your email, the payment must be done fully in advance via Paypal before a slot can be assigned to your commission.
The works will be delivered digitally via email, at a 480 dpi resolution and an average size of 8 1/2 by 11 inches. (Aprox. 21 Megapixel image) Said resolution will allow you to print it either at home or in a professional printing house at a large format.
I do not send physical copies to avoid possible damage or loss of the piece during the delivery, it is also meant to avoid extra cost for the client.
The piece will be delivered within a period of 3-4 weeks maximum since the date of initiation of work of the commission itself. I will keep an updated Commission Queue on my profile page to inform of the progress done on each clients' commission. I'll send a notification to inform of the moment I'll begin work on each commission to the corresponding client plus sketches, line art and color progress reports as the pic is being worked on to certify that progress is being made and for the client to request corrections and changes to better fit the piece to what is desired. (Previews do not apply to Speed Painted commission.)
The better the client provides me with information and reference material the more accurate the final piece will be to the final result that is desired. Any sort of insignias, logos, markings or special characteristics that the characters or background will feature must be pointed out and given example of.
If several pieces are commissioned at once, a discount can be negotiated.
Depending on the simplicity or complexity of the piece, price can be negotiated.
Any particular kind of work or style that is not covered on the preceding list is to be commissioned, please consult me over its nature and a price can be negotiated.

Commission consisting of 4 sketches of Sylvia Marpole, 4 of Rebecca Cunningham and 1 of Minerva Mink. Sometimes I'll include a variant if I find the image appealing and fun and want to draw it just because I like what I'm seeing (very much like the "Tropical Heat" variant I included and there may be a couple other variants that I might have kept private for the commissioner ).
I'm not gonna lie, Rebecca Cunningham is one of my all time favorite characters from the Disney animated series, so it is always enjoyable to draw her. The pics "Overtime" seems the one that has attracted the most attention and the Minerva Mink pic as well (yeah, big surprise there *eye roll* =P ) Miss Marpole is a great looking character but since her appearance was limited to "An Extremely Goofy Movie" instead of a weekly series unlike TaleSpin or Tiny Toons, it is logical that a lot more people didn't get exposed to her presence. Also, drawing Minerva was a first for me, I did studying of screen caps of her and her anatomy is really a throwback to 1950s pin-up body styles with the obvious stretchiness present in animation. Overall, a very satisfactory set overall.

SUMMARY
flafty commission has been completed and delivered - The commission itself was made up of 3 separate Flat Color illustrations with added complex design and annotations as a sort of profile or character sheet. Custom armor designs and plenty of research was made since the scifi setting for the characters demanded info in biotechnology, experimental metamaterials and an added lore of mythology thrown into the mix. Due to the images containing spoiler content related to a comic, the commission was made private.
2. bboyhunter --- Flat Colors--- Jessica's Class: Single character with background
Commission consisted of a single OC character; Jessica, in a classroom setting. I was given a relative direction regarding the pose and everything else was left to my own criteria. Two version were created as I was also given free reign on this and since creating such alternate required relatively minor editing, it is always preferable to give the client and viewers more options. As a side note, since the color of the erogenous zones of the character was not specified I used what I considered the most aesthetically appealing, nevertheless it was pointed out to me that the colors I chose felt as a "mismatch" so I created an alternate version with matching colors. (Currently found in "Scraps") Also, it is worth pointing out that the background's perspective was done thanks in no small part to the perspective guides that Clip Studio Paint provide which are a huge help compared to the time consuming, by-hand guide drawing that had to be done previously using Paint Tool SAI.

Updates and the upcoming year.
Posted 10 years agoHappy belated New Year to everyone, I've been so focused on RL issues and completing my commission queue that barely got time to post anything else written wise.
As for updates in general I decided to get Clip Studio Paint Pro (aka Manga Studio) and basically "mothball" Paint Tool Sai as I needed a program that offered me more flexibility and creative options. SAI served me well for the last 3-4 years I used it and maxed out its possibilities, ending up outgrowing it at the same time I grew frustrated with the complete abandon SYSTEMAX has allowed the program to stagnate and become obsolete. I really do not understand how they can sell a painting program so bare bones when similar priced programs such as Open Canvas or Manga Studio can do so much more for about the same price. I really don't see Systemax staying in business for much longer if they don't do something drastic. A real shame since SAI really did a lot of things right.
Currently I'm 275 pages in the Clip Studio Paint's manual (of nearly 900!) Yeah it is going to take a while but so far since the program is so similar in many respect to Photoshop, a lot of prior knowledge overlaps. The brush options alone are mindbogglingly deep and I can't wait to fully get a grasp of what this program can do. In the future I hope to upgrade to the EX version which would be great for a future comic project I have in writing.
On another front I'll be uploading some of my art and WIP and even stage by stage progress pics plus other stuff that might not qualify to be uploaded elsewhere.

All in all it was a interesting year, and I hope for this next year to be even more productive than the last.
As a side note, 2016 seems to be a huge year for animated movies that appeal to the furry audience, with Sly Cooper and ZOOTOPIA looming on the horizon these is a really big chance that if these movies prove successful, there is going to be a lot more studios willing to create more in the same vain. This is going to be interesting.
