A Christmas Meme from Dineegla and friends
General | Posted 17 years agoThis is my first journal here. My friends Dineegla and MuscleWolf asked all their friends to try it out, so I decided to put out my thoughts. I'm not sure if any'll actually read it, but here goes:
A 2008 Christmas Meme
1. Real tree or Artificial Tree?
Artificial
2. Italian lights, LED lights, or Old fashioned bulbs on your tree?
Old-fashioned bulbs/LED
3. Do you prefer Tinsel or Garland?
Garland (cats do so love tinsel; it's Christmas Catnip - and it gets everywhere!!)
4. What kind of ornaments are on your tree?
Anything my family and I have collected over 40 collective years together - home made ornaments, gifts from around the world. We each (in our separate homes) have a different Christmas ornament collection that's from the great pool of the family's ornaments.
5. Do you have a favorite?
The ornament I made with my brother and mom in pre-school. It's a hand made ornament. Both my brother and I made them for our parents as Christmas gifts, and they've hung prominently on every tree we've decorated since.
6. Angel on the tree top or a star?
Depends on the tree
7. When do you take the tree down?
After the New Year. We like Christmas, and we like to keep the feeling around (especially when we're spread out during the rest of the year.)
8. Do you have a Nativity Scene (Creche)?
Several. Both nieces enjoy putting in the Baby Jesus on December 25th and hearing the Nativity Story.
9. Where do you set the Nativity Scene up?
In a couple rooms, usually Dining Room and Living Room
10. Do you celebrate Advent before Christmas?
If I remember :)
11. Do you celebrate the Feast of the Three Kings?

12. Do you celebrate other faith holidays during this season?
Other than to wish my friends their respective holiday greetings, not really
13. Is there a special thing you you do (or have done) with your family at Christmastime?
Bake Christmas goodies (we're talking 20-30 dishes that we make platters for our neighbors - the whole family joins in to make them!!)
14. Do you go to church on Christmas, watch it on TV, or nothing at all?
Simply rest with the whole family together
15. Have you ever put out cookies and drink for Santa? His reindeer?
Just for Santa, (though in later years, the cocoa was spiked with rum;) )
16. Did you ever try to stay up and see Santa?
Yeah, and that was the year I caught my parents setting up the new Nintendo for my brother and me. Stubbornly, I believed in Santa for another 3 years, as one gathering of evidence did not prove a case.
