Happy Birthday to me.
Posted a year agoMany of you have noticed that I haven't posted anything since Last October. It's because, since then, I have been suffering from bouts of insomnia that have me falling asleep in mid afternoon like a Mediterranean. It has also prevented me from focusing on any task more than a few minutes long, so I have been having some art block. Other than that, I have been good with my health, with no pain. As for the insomnia, I did visit a sleep doctor, and he noted that my CPAP machine was subject to recall, and after an examination, declared that the CPAP even if working properly was the wrong type for my anatomy )Apparently I have a narrow jaw, and a wide tongue) So to change my prescriptions around I will have to go to a sleep survey on May 16th, and a Follow up on June 5th. Hopefully I can have this solved so I can resume drawing. I have joined a gym so as to improve my walking endurance, and be in better shape for surgery at the end of the year. Being able to focus on drawing again would be nice as well.
Other than that, I am still slogging away on Blender tutorials, to learn more, and get more fluid with it. But blender is showing it's remarkable depth. It took me about two weeks to get decent with Maya, and about a year to get fluent. It's taking me more than a year to get decent with Blender, as it has so many options, and procedures. It's more for me learning character animation and rigging, as I have had poor conversions with face rigs on characters, and may have to switch to Morph targets.
Here is hoping you all are having a smoother time with art than I am. Take care, and maintain your health.

Hellboy COmics in the Humble Bundle!
Posted a year ago$18 for Hellboy Graphic Novels. Mike Mignola's art has always been a joy, but the stories are pretty solid as well. An enjoyable read for me, that you may enjoy as well:

Godzilla Munus One.... Go see it!
Posted 2 years agoSaw it this afternoon as well. Spectacular film. IT really captured the sorry shape Japan was in right after the war, and the tensions between the U.S. and the Soviet Union were in. Also this movie did more with a microscopic budget, than Disney has been able to do all year with 300Million dollar budgets per film. But this film shows the importance of compelling characters, and a good script. The VFX were top notch. Godzilla was a scary creature, made worse by the Bikini Atoll tests.
EMERGENCY COmmission
Posted 2 years agoOffering an emergency commission for $50 USD, as I got surprised by a garbage collection biill that I have to pay by Friday or they will tack on a late charge. So as this is a set amount, I can offer either finished pencils or standard inks (No colors_ of a SFW subject of your choosing. How things are usually don is here:

But the deviation from this is it's $50 flat, and either finished pencils, or Outline inks. First come , first serve.

Opening up for 2 or 3 Commission Slots
Posted 2 years agoSo it's time once again to open up for commissions. I am thinking of opening for two or three slots depending on interest. Rates and TOS are here:
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2691882/
I can do pencils, inks, and colors if need be. Just a reminder that I work clean, and specialize in clothes and uniforms. Half up front to reserve the spot. the other half upon completion. I am open to negotiations. I would like to get a fairly fast turn around on these, like within this month. Note me for PayPal address. Let's see what we3 can do.

About 3D models.
Posted 2 years agoFor a long while I was keeping my skills up by modelling historical aircraft for use as scripted flyers on Second Life. In the past I was a character animator, and occasional modeler on P.C and Console Games (see: from 1999 https://www.furaffinity.net/view/29373331/). However, unscrupulous other users collapsed the market for aircraft there, by uploading "free" 3D models, and putting nearly no hand work into them(LODs), and putting shitty scripts into them, souring the aviation experience for new, or uninformed users. It took the "fun" as well as the money out of SL for me. I had been using Maya 2010, but it was a decade old by the time my old machine had to be replaced.
I got the new machine last year around this time, and installed Blender and have been working to learn it ever since. In September, I set myself a challenge to create a model to use for the Christmas color image (see: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50332960/) It took a bit of time, but it was completed in time for Christmas. But that got me to thinking.
Is there a market for models here? One of my SL friends has moved his interests over to VR Chat and think something like Giselle the Doe would make for a decent VR Chat avatar (provided she's better dressed for public areas). In general I tend to take a bit more realistic direction to models that a lot of those in other areas. Style would tend to follow closely to how I draw and paint, but can shift if I get enough consistent reference. Follow on Models should take a little less time. But is there a market for animation capable models? Blend files with custom rigs and materials? Game Engine ready avatars (Unity and/or Unreal)? Base geometry and maps for one to experiment with? model with a set of Game animation? In an age of $7 eggs and expected inflation I need all the extra income I can get with my formerly expensive skills. If you have any suggestions, hints or what you think that Doe (see: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/50714589/) should sell for, please drop a comment or question below.
Thank you

Some Good News about A.I. Art
Posted 2 years agoThere is some good news about A.I. art. Because A.I. art is not generated by a Human, it cannot hold Copyright. This will imit financial oppotunities for the use of A.I. art, because it's generation by A.I. is automatically Public Domain.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix (Recommended)
Posted 3 years agoJust finished Binging Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix. It's not often you watch an Anime made from a property you have worked on. Well it was more based on Cyberpunk 2077, as it was produced by CD Projekt Red, and the story was written by a Pole, but my former Boss' name was on the first title card "Based on the world created by Mike Pondsmith. The story was a very straight Cyberpunk story, with a team consisting of three Solos, two Net runners, a Tech and a Nomad. One of those Solos, David Martinez is a prep school drop out who recently lost his mother to random gang violence and needs to find a job quick. He meets up with an attractive petty thief, who leads him into the world of the Edge runners, and the attendant money. The animation was by Studio Trigger, of Japan, and was quite well done, with backgrounds that were based on locations in Night City from the game. If you like Cyberpunk stories, this works well and has that echo of film noir plots that A lot of cyberpunk stories have. Recommended.
Blender roadblock.
Posted 3 years agoI installed Blender 3.3 yesterday, so I could take advantage of the new hair system, and the geometry nodes. However, installing the new system has shut off the ability to sculpt. The brushes do nothing, but the brush setting seem the same as before, or are they? I have been unable to get the brushes to do anything to a subdivided cube or cylinder at all. Previous versions of Blender haven't had this problem. What gives or has something else changed?]

Recommend Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal
Posted 3 years agoFinally caught the first season of Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal on what’s left of Adult Swim’s Roku channel. Dinosaur and a caveman team up to survive in a prehistoric world. Very well animated, with a lot of clever animator tricks. No dialogue what so ever, and a bit less abstract than Samurai Jack, but often with the same pauses before frenetic action. The stories feel like early pulp adventures with time periods mixed up, but there are rules. Just enjoy watching “Spear” the Neanderthal, and Fang the Female Tyrannosaur as they interact with each other and the world around them. Unfortunately, since I do not have a cable or HBOMax subscription, anything after the fifth episode, I am locked out of.

question about offering commissions.
Posted 3 years agoMay need a bit of money in the upcoming month, and I was wondering if there is any interest in commissions. So if I were to offer commissions, what type are you all interested in? I've been doing a number of D&D commissions on the side, but that has halted until I can replace my pen tablet, but taking that into account, what sort of commissions are people interested in?
I love comics. Here's a partial list of comics on FA
Posted 3 years agoIn the earliest day of The fandom, it was about stories. and comics. Even the Porn was sequential (Omaha, The Cat Dancer). I love comics, but as the years went by, the fandom gravitated to pinups, and single images. However, over time I have collected a number of artists that consistently produce comics regularly on FA. Always satisfying to pop open one's feed, and see a stack of comics, Here's an incomplete list of comics on FA:

Brad Colbow reviews 20 Art apps
Posted 3 years agoIn my search for a new pen tablet, I ran across Brad Colbow’s site. He reviews screen tablets and pen tablets. But because he is a working illustrator, he uses a lot of drawing software or art software for various platforms. This is his review of 20 common art programs for desktops, iPads, Android, and even a couple for Linux. I thought I would share this as his reviews are very concise. You can see if he agrees with you, or that he reviews an app that you might be curious about. Take a look below
Need to replace pen tablet.
Posted 3 years agoYou have probably noticed I haven't done a lot of art in th3e past couple of months. Mostly this is because I am grinding through Blender tutorials, but kind of slowly. The other problem is that the Huion pen tablet I have been using finally crapped out and doesn't work any more, due to age. I got this I think 7 years ago. I am not the most gentle with my hardware, admittedly, but it gave good service (though not as long as my Old Intuous 2, but that dies due to a bad connector). So does anyone have a good recommendation for a graphics tablet for less than $200 US, so that I can get back to more finished artworks and more digital flourishes? Please give me your recommendations in the comments below, please.
