For years I've had a policy of not advertising commissions, but accepting them if I'm asked and had the time. This was mainly because I'm not a fast artist and not advertising comms meant I could pace myself without a deluge of requests.

Going forward I'm stopping commissions entirely. Doing comms is not worth it monetarily, as I make much more from my daytime job and if I'm drawing for other people I'd rather do it as gift art than paid art. I really enjoy drawing for friends and would rather not have the stress of making the picture 100% perfect because I'm being paid to do so. Sometimes the more interesting pics will be the ones I've done as gifts and they're usually much faster to draw as well.

So that's it! Still gonna keep drawing though~

Well apparently while I was away I hit 1000 pageviews; a small milestone. Huzzah or something... Only 600 views until it catches up to my DeviantART pageview count!

So as of today, I have officially finished high school.

The day started off with a 'Valedictory Service' in which me and all the grade 12's headed off on a bus to a cathedral for a 3 hour long final farewell. We were presented with candles and crosses and then anointed by the Arch Bishop of Brisbane (my school being an Anglican school and all...). The event didn't have as much emotional impact as I thought it would, although one of the girls sitting beside me managed to get quite teary.

After the service I took the train home with my friends and their parents and managed to get fast food along the way.

The next 4 hours or so basically involved me playing CoD: Black Ops (a game that I have predictably become very addicted to).

Later on me and my parents headed off to go to a 'Valedictory Dinner' (because the service wasn't enough apparently). Sat down with my friends again and had a generally good night. The food was... Well... There wasn't much of it, but at least there was a lot to drink! The teachers displayed multiple slideshows of our time at school and then presented us with our exit grades and certificates. Thankfully, my grades were as I expected them to be, so I'm quite happy. I managed to take some decent photos of the event, despite one of my friends avoiding being photographed at all costs! Also, there was cake, which is always a good thing!

So now I am a high school graduate... It is gonna feel really weird not going to school on Monday. More to the point, I won't see most of my classmates again (except on Facebook of course).

In about a week's time from now I'll be heading off to the cost for Schoolies... Well it's technically not schoolies because it's a week after schoolies finishes and it's at the Sunshine Coast and not the Gold Coast.

If you have no idea what I meant by that, don't worry. What it does mean is that I am now able to resume my artistic voyeurs (or lack thereof).

Now, the people who have actually bothered to look at this journal and didn't delete it in 2.5 seconds are probably asking: But Scram, didn't your computer die?

The answer to that question is yes, and it is still dead. The good news is I now have a fully functional, non-crap laptop in my personal possession! :-D

My parents purchased the machine today to replace my aging (and now dead) desktop computer and so that I can use it in college. I must say, this beats my school-issued netbook in every way imaginable (then again, I think my iPod can beat my netbook! :lol:).

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite with a 2.4GHz i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 1GB dedicated Graphics, 600GB Hard Drive, BluRay burner and the biggest screen I have ever seen on a laptop! (it's freakin' excessive!)

One feature i do like about it is that the keys light up when you type, so you can go on forums and art sites in the middle of the night. :-P Always useful!

So anyway, because I now have a decent computer to work with I can fire up GIMP and get to drawing some art! Hellz yeah!

Today my 5 year old computer decided while booting up that it didn't like me. What it has decided to do is basically fail to load windows properly, so I can't even run it in safe mode... I love it when technology fails me. Oh wait... No I don't! :/

Thankfully, unlike the last time my computer died, all my media (music, videos, games) are stored on an external hard drive, so if I am faced with having to reformat the thing, it won't be a complete loss.

Unfortunately I was right in the middle of completing a request for  VentKazemaru which wasn't saved on the external HD. Add to that the fact that it's my last term of high school and things aren't looking great.

I still have my netbook, but due to the small screen size and lack of power, I can't really do much with it.

Oh why does technology hate me so?

Why is it that Fur Affinity seems to want to murder me every time I submit a .png file? Sure, it's perfectly fine with .jpeg's, but I hate .jpeg files due to poor-quality and no transparency.

Just now I tried to submit a transparent .png file for my profile ID and a swear this is what the site thought (if FA was alive):

Me: I'm going to submit a transparent profile pic so it blends in with the site colours! :D
FA: Hey, Scramjet's trying to submit a transparent .png profile picture. What a noob!
FA: I know, I'll turn the transparency into blackness just to mess with him. Yaaaaay! :P
Me: Aww :'( Why are you so mean?

In all seriousness though, I think it's because FA scaled down my profile pic (despite it being only 268px x 400px in size) and whenever FA scales down something it turns it into a .jpeg file. (Because .jpeg is sooo much better apparently)

This has happened many times before and it kind of irks me... Ah well... At least DeviantART still loves me and my .png's! <3

So Christmas has ended... For me this year's Christmas was quite good. I stayed over my friend's for Christmas lunch and received heaps of additions for my PS3. On top of that I now have finally got around to submitting a couple of pictures. I'm dreading the day when I have to go back to school and face yr 12. :(
