ROOMMATE NEEDED!!
Posted 10 years agoMe and my mate are moving on short notice and are looking for someone (or a mated pair) to fill the empty bedroom of the apartment we're looking at. We would feel more comfortable rooming with a fellow Fur whom we know we share commonalities with than a total unknown.
The place will be in Reno, Nevada, home to the Biggest Little Fur Con. It's also where my father lives, so I'll get to see him a lot more often than where I live now in Cali.
It will be a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo, so you'd have a whole room and bathroom of your own. Most of the utilities will be included in the rent except for electricity, but there's a chance I can even get that reduced. There will be a Dishwasher, Washer/Dryer, and small pets will be allowed (we have pet rats ourselves).
Rent will be split 50/50 and will be about $400 per month.
We are not heavy drinkers, and we don't smoke.
We aren't certain of an exact date we'll be there, but we're shooting for early August.

Going to BLFC?
Posted 10 years agoTake care going over Donner and have an awesome time! Remember there's no fursuits allowed on the Casino level (I think it has to do with covered faces). Be sure to hit the buffet at least once and join a game of Cards Against Humanity when you have some down time.

Huffington Post: Furries Set The Record Straight
Posted 11 years agoThe Huffington Post just made another article on Furries. They tried to paint Furries more positively this time than they have in the past probably due to the recent attack at MFF while still criticizing others of ignorance and getting some of their facts wrong. And of all the Furry networking sites they could have referenced, they promoted Inkbunny. I have no problem with individual users or staff, but because of the allowed content it's the last Furry networking site I'd send my family.

Tumblr vs. Twitter
Posted 11 years agoI was just thinking of how I always try to look at a site's TOS concerning usage rights before joining.
An excerpt from Tumblr's TOS:
"... you grant Tumblr a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable right and license to use, host, store, cache, reproduce, publish, display (publicly or otherwise), perform (publicly or otherwise), distribute, transmit, modify, adapt (including, without limitation, in order to conform it to the requirements of any networks, devices, services, or media through which the Services are available), and create derivative works of, such Subscriber Content...
You also agree that this license includes the right for Tumblr to make all publicly-posted Content available to third parties selected by Tumblr, so that those third parties can syndicate and/or analyze such Content on other media and services...

It's not as bad as DeviantArt's where I will never ever post anything. Basically, whatever you submit you give them free permission to copy, alter, and redistribute. Mainly for just how the site is used. It also lets third parties collect information on you based on what you do. Lastly, it implies that if you've deleted your account, things you've posted will remain.
If this is all okay with you, then go ahead and use it. Personally, I'd go ahead and make an account and comment and lurk, but never post anything important.
Twitter has a similar TOS:

Why does anybody join a furry networking site? I wanted to become more active among the community. I already had accounts on the VCL and Furtopia.
2. What does your username have to do with you?
Scrimno (a river otter) is my main character, my fursuit, and whom I aspire to be.
3. What is your current avatar of?
It's Scrimno, with his trademark grin and headband. From my first badge by

4. How many watchers do you have, and how many do you watch?
I have 290 watchers, and I watch 424. I think most of them are fellow otts :3
5. Do you have more than one account?
Nope. One is enough.
6. Name 3 of your favorite artists on FA.
Kinda putting me on the spot here. There are soo many I love.
kipper is definitely worth a look. 
flinters is both awesome and prolific. And I know he's a writer, but 
jeevestheroo's stories are truly art. Look at my faves gallery for more inspiring artists!
7. What artist do you admire because of their personality?
snapback definitely has max ottertude! 
lei-lani is as beautiful as she can be sweet or opinionated. Finally, amwulf does amazing art, is a great DJ and has always greeted me with a smile and a hug.

I'd say I comment more than I fave. And more than just "cool" or "oh murr". And I reply to comments. I reserve faves to art I want to revisit or share with others.

Photos of animals, objects, fursuits, and food I've made. Art by me and that I've commissioned. A piece of writing here and there.
10.What's your favorite submission in your gallery?
I'd have to say Pretty Little Pup. It details an experience of a necropsy (animal autopsy) of a sea otter pup. Very NSFW but moving.
11. What are the things you wish you could draw better?
Figures. Anatomy. The body. Proportions. Shapes. Lines. Dots :/
12. How many hours a day do you spend on FA?
Not enough, according to my mounting pile of unlooked-at submissions. An hour or two.

Medium I guess.
14. What is the most annoying thing people ask you?
"What if something happens?" So what can you do? How can you prepare for 'something'? Almost anything can happen at any given time. Remember Donnie Darko? Freakin' jet engine fell right into his bedroom. What if?
15. What is the most annoying/offending comment you've received?
Dunno. Must've repressed it. I think I got in a debate with someone once over whether lizards had forked tongues. Turned out that some do and some don't.

A while back, I got in a bad place and cleared everything from my account with no notice and stayed away for a bit. I never believed in posting about my problems, as that puts them on other people who are dealing with their own problems. I tried to live as mundane a life as I could in order to heal, but I missed Furrydom. I eventually realized that allowing me to express my furry side would aid in my recovery. I came crawling back and I'm here to stay!

summercat is gearing up to do a run of his Furry Fuel energy drink. Some of you might remember that I had it at my last Otter Party. It's very tasty and sweet like liquid candy. Some might say it's reminiscent of Pixi Stix or Fun Dip. He needs at least 10 interested parties in order to process his product. The catch is that you have to commit to buy a $60 case worth. The good news is that it works out to about $2 per can since the shipping is free.

With great space comes great price tag, so note me if you want to room. I'll try to keep it reasonable. Be forewarned, it IS the noisy Party Floor, and I WILL be hosting the Otter Party probably the Saturday of the con.
That said, while I still have most of the party decorations from last year, I could always use extra otter or fish themed ones (my fish pinata last year was a huge hit). They're not cheap either, so funding is ALWAYS appreciated. I take paypal gifts at scrimno|at|yahoo.com.
Lastly, I need people to volunteer their precious time to help me out during the party. Setting up, checking ID, attending the bar, etc. I'm going to be busy the whole time making fresh sushi, as is tradition for the Otter Party.

BLFC Was a Nice Reprieve from the House Fire
Posted 12 years agoMe and my mate had a good time at Reno's Biggest Little Furcon, seeing old friends and meeting new. My dad was a gracious host for us and we hung out with him when we weren't at the Grand Sierra Resort living it up with the furries, games, panels, and all the things. Lots of pics were taken and I hope to post some at some point. We had such a good time, it almost made me forget that a fire destroyed half my mother-in-law's house a few days before the con.
The same week as the con, a fire tore through the roof of my mate's parent's house. Nobody was hurt, thank goodness. It started near the kitchen and worked its way into the attic and went down the house. The most damage was to the bedroom that me and my mate stay in when we visit. We had a lot of things in that room, but nothing irreplaceable, like a couple pieces of antique furniture that they lost. The total estimated damage was nearly a million dollars. Who knows what the insurance will pay though. The ironic thing is that they were renovating the house to sell.

Oh, and I witnessed a car crash on the freeway on the way home from the con. It was between a Winnebago and a Mercedes, and the Winnebago took off. I called 911 and left a statement with the police and everything. The guy in the Mercedes was okay, he just had a concussion.
