Your Words Matter
Posted 6 years agoAs many of you have undoubtedly heard from social media and/or the various news outlets, today (Thursday the 14th) witnessed yet another shooting incident at a high school in the U.S.. This time it happened at my alma mater, Saugus High School, in my home town, Santa Clarita, and only one mile from where I grew up and currently live. It has been revealed that the shooter is a student of this high school and turned 16 today. The media is reporting that this young student lost his father a few year ago and various classmates have stated he was a quiet person who kept to himself.
Sounds all too familiar, doesn't it? As a person who has been bullied, marginalized, picked on, and put down by others who simply lack empathy or have a juvenile desire to control others, I remind all who read this that your words matter. What you say or write, as well as how you chose to say or write your words, can have a profound impact on someone's life. This impact isn't just felt in the heat of the moment but can last a lifetime. This impact can be just as hurtful and damaging as a punch to the body with fists can be. As a person who has been bullied, marginalized, picked on, and put down, I can tell you first hand how alone that makes one feel and how it has the effect of silencing a person. I can also confirm first hand that these negative effects last indefinitely.
At a time when the U.S. is experiencing what I have come to term a "Cold Civil War" among leaders, political parties, and blue versus red states, I ask each and every one of you to think before you speak or write. I ask each and every one of you to put yourself in other people's shoes first. I ask each and every one of you to respect and tolerate the "other" person, even if they don't act, look, talk, think, write, or worship the same as you do.

Fursuting Event: 2019 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade
Posted 6 years agoHappy November 2019 my furiends! It's starting to feel like fall as this year is rapidly coming to an end. But between Halloween and Thanksgiving comes another fun day . . . the Pasadena Doo Dah Parade!
The 42nd Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade will be taking place on Sunday the 24th (later than usual for November due to Thanksgiving being later in the month this year). That's two weeks / two Sundays from today! It's still taking place between 2500 to 2700 East Colorado Boulevard in East Pasadena at the usual step-off time of 11:00 AM and you're ALL invited to participate with the rest of us crazies or help by escorting/handling. So, here's your chance for some local fursuiting fun that began way back in 1990 with Thaddeus Fox of California and the late Rapid T. Rabbit of New York who walked under the banner "Coast-to-Coast Furries" (now "Coast-to-Coast Critters").
So here's how to join in on the fun:
1) Simply message me at dlely[at]juno.com (NOT this list please) telling me you'll be attending. I will reply with a confirmation giving you more details.
2) Check out the Parade's official web site at http://www.pasadenadoodahparade.info/ for further information, maps, news, history, highlights, and pictures from previous year's parades.
3) Join the "Coast-to-Coast Critters" Telegram Chat Group at https://t.me/CTCCrittersChat for event coordination and information and to ask any questions you might have.
4) Join the "Coast-to-Coast Critters Photo & Video" Telegram Channel https://t.me/CTCCritters to view our group's photos from previous year's Doo Dah Parade.
3) Then on Sunday the 24th of November: meet all of us furry participants no later than 10:00 AM on shady Nina Street between North Altadena Drive and North Vinedo Street (which is just north of East Colorado Boulevard) in beautiful Pasadena California.
4) Pay your $10.00 per person entry fee to me who will then turn over the total collected loot to the parade organizers (The Light Bringer Project - a nonprofit arts organization based in Pasadena - http://www.lightbringerproject.com).
5) Wait around a little, jump into suit, then join the parade around 11:00 AM and have tons of fun being crazy, out of control, silly, wacky, and zany to thousands of crazy, out of control, silly, wacky and zany spectators lining both sides of East Colorado Boulevard.
But wait there's more! After the parade everyfur usually regroups for a chow-down at a popular Pasadena hunting/grazing/watering hole.
If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me or contact us in the Telegram Group. Hope to see you there!
PS: Feel free to invite family and furiends who would like to suit up with us or escort/handle us. Also feel free to announce this fursuiting event on your social media sites like Facebook or Twitter. Thanks!

2016 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade Thanks and Records Broken
Posted 9 years agoWe had so much to be thankful for this past Sunday at the 39th Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade on East Colorado Boulevard plus we had a number of firsts happen:
1) Despite rain early in the morning, the weather worked in our favor with cloudy but rain free skies and cool temperatures. Just as we finished, though, it decided to rain - what luck!
2) In another stroke of good luck, the parade organizers placed us second in the lineup. That was a very pleasant and surprising first.
3) As we proceeded to walk our route a huge gap developed in front and behind our group allowing us to leisurely meet and greet the spectators lining the street without feeling pushed or bunched.
4) And the last but certainly not least first to be thankful for . . . a record number of fursuiters plus new critters to join in the fun - 22 fursuiters, and for the first time, two rubber pups and one rubber dinosaur.
So, without further ado, those joining the "Coast to Coast Critters" this year in Pasadena were (in alphabetical order): Al Bear, Bengal Tiger, Bouncer Pup, Brown Wolf, Dexter Fox as Bouncer Chipmunk, Flamie Shadow Tiger, Growly, Hoof as Rodney the Rottweiler, Kaze, Kei Fox as Nick Wilde, Lori, Maggie as Judy Hopps, Minnie as Candy Coon, Motomo, Neko the Red Fox, Pro Husky, Ruppy Puppy, Sahara as Brach, Sandoz as Lavoris Moose, Scruff E. Coyote, Scruffy the Fox, Single Speed Cheetah as No Name the Dinosaur, Ultra Gor, plus two other fursuiters who joined in but I wasn't able to get their names (if yer out there reading this, get in touch so I can give ya credit).
But, as always we couldn't have done it without our handlers: Fire Wolf assisting me and handling all 25 critters plus Kureno taking tons of awesome pictures! I also wanted to thank three furry visitors for showing us their support: C-Eagle, John Connors taking video of us and the entire parade, and Ryan Valencia. Thanks guys!
But wait, there was more fun to be had. Afterwards, most of us trekked over to Rounds Premium Burgers in Pasadena for some tasty gourmet hamburgers, yummy fries/onion rings, refreshing drinks, lively talk, boisterous laughter, and rest and relaxation.
Kureno's awesome photos can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/quv2zr7i.....7nyKXz9Ya?dl=0
Al Bear and Dexter Fox found some edited footage NBC took of the entire parade with us in the beginning:

WOW, what a day - a day of firsts, breaking records, and fun! In addition, I wanted to mention that with the $10.00 per person entry fee, our group as a whole donated $270 to the parade organizers, the non-profit Light Bringer Project. Very cool! Thanks again for an awesome event everyone!!

5) Wait around a little, jump into suit, then join the parade around 11:00 AM and have tons of fun being crazy, out of control, silly, wacky, and zany to thousands of crazy, out of control, silly, wacky and zany spectators lining both sides of East Colorado Boulevard (in the 2500-2600 blocks for you map searchers).
But wait there's more! After the parade everyfur usually regroups for a chow-down at a popular Pasadena hunting/grazing/watering hole.

2015 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade of Awesomeness and Thanks
Posted 10 years agoYet another awesome time was had this past Sunday in sunny southern California at the 38th Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade! What made it so awesome you ask? Nice weather, a well behaved crowd happy to see us, . . . and, drum roll please . . . a record being made. For what I believe is the first time in the 25 years furries have participated in the west coast Doo Dah Parade, we had 18 fursuiters planting their furry feet on East Colorado Boulevard!! Yes eighteen!!!!!
So, without further ado, the 17 joining me this year in Pasadena were (in alphabetical order): Brown Wolf, C-Eagle, Croc, Dexter Fox as Bouncer Chipmunk, Flamie Shadow Tiger, Growly, Hoof as Fenway the Boston, Kaze, Kei Fox, Lester Lizard as Richard, Muffle, Sahara as Brach, Sandoz as Lavoris Moose, Scotty Minotaur as White Gryphon, Scruffy the Fox, Single Speed Cheetah, and Ulric as Neko the Red Fox.
But, as always we couldn't have done it without our handlers and supporters: Al Bear taking pictures, Fire Wolf handling ,Sandoz's friend Lori handling, Procyon our water savior, Raw Dawg handling, and last but not least Shinra God handling. Non of us could have done the parade without ya.
Afterwards, most of us trekked over to Hook Burger in Pasadena for some tasty gourmet hamburgers, yummy fries/onion rings, refreshing drinks, and luscious chocolate cake made by Kei Fox himself! And if that wasn't enough, a few of us paid a visit to Dave and Busters in nearby Arcadia for some gaming fun!!
WOW, what a day! Thanks again for an awesome event everyone!!

Fursuiting Event: 2015 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade
Posted 10 years agoSunday before Thanksgiving, it'll be time for the "38th Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade" in Southern California! This year it will take place on Sunday the 22nd of November and you're all invited to watch, help, or if you have a fursuit, participate with the rest of us crazies in East Pasadena! So, here's your chance for some local fursuiting fun that began with Thaddeus Fox and Rapid T. Rabbit way back in 1990 . . . 25 years ago - that's a quarter of a century of fursuiters in this parade!
And hey, I have some good news: I can report that for the first time in I don't know how many years, the parade is marshmallow free - YAY! The ban on throwing what should be toasted over a fire and eaten worked. So other than the long held traditional tortillas being flung and a bit of silly string, our paws should be caked in gunk no more.
So here's how to join in on the fun:
1) Simply e-mail me (NOT this list please) at dlely[at]juno.com telling me you'll be there. I will reply with a confirmation giving you more details.
2) Check out the Parade's official web site at http://www.pasadenadoodahparade.info/ for further information, maps, news, history, highlights, and pictures from previous year's parades.
3) Then on Sunday the 22nd of November: meet all of us furry participants no later than 10:00 AM on shady Nina Street between North Altadena Drive and North Vinedo Street (which is just north of East Colorado Boulevard) in beautiful Pasadena California.

2014 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade Thanks
Posted 11 years agoWe couldn't have asked for a better Doo Dah Parade this past Saturday in Pasadena California! Now back in November, after being in the spring for four years and before that in the winter for two years, it felt so right (and a whole lot more comfortable), having it in the fall before Thanksgiving once again. I'm also so elated to report that the marshmallows spectators would throw at us participants were pretty much nowhere to be seen!! The parade organizers have been trying for years now to get people to stop chucking them as it made for a sticky mess on the parade route not to mention our paws and my skateboard. Tortillas were still being tossed and silly string sprayed, but that's nothing compared to those white spongy sugar cylinders!!!
So, joining me this year on Colorado Boulevard was (in alphabetical order): Croc (for the first time), Brown Wolf (in suit for the first time), Fire Wolf as our one and only AND very indispensable handler), Hoof as Fenway, Kyash-tyur (for the first time), Procyon, Sahara as Joust, Scotty Minotaur (for the first time) as his Griffin, and last but not least, Scruffy the Fox!
Afterwards we all headed over to Rounds Premium Burgers (formally Wolf Burger) in Pasadena for some tasty gourmet hamburgers, yummy fries, and refreshing drinks!
Thanks again for an awesome day everyone who came out to be in the parade or to watch. And to those who missed us this year, don't fret, there's always next year and without fail furry critters will be in it!

Fursuiting Event: 2014 Pasadena Doo Dah Parade
Posted 11 years agoTo One and All - Fursuiters and Furiends:
Soon it'll be time for the "37th Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade" in Southern California! Yes, you read that right - it has returned to the fall where it once reined supreme for many a year. This year it will take place on Saturday the 15th of November and you're all invited to watch, help, or if you have a fursuit, participate with the rest of us crazies in East Pasadena! So, here's yer chance for some local fursuiting fun that began with Thaddeus Fox and Rapid T. Rabbit way back in 1990 . . . 24 years ago!

** As a public service and warning to all who wish to participate: in the past years spectators have been armed with tortillas, marshmallows, and silly string. Due to a growing problem with the resulting mess the parade organizers are calling for a prohibition on marshmallows. We'll see if this works or if they will enforce this prohibition. Regardless, I wanted to warn all who might suit up that the parade (and our paws) can get a bit messy and some spectators (mainly the kids) can get a bit ornery with the throwing of what should be eaten. **
