It's been awhile.
Posted 6 years agoSo my depression got pretty bad a while ago and I didn;t really update anything, but I'm going to try to jump back into things. I'm not going to open for commissions for a while because I have some personal projects I'm working on, mostly painting, but I will be hopefully uploading the stuff I have been working on in the mean time.
I'm also on some supplementary antidepressants now, so that has gotten quite a bit better.

Sorry about delays
Posted 8 years agoSorry about going slow lately, my depression has been getting the best of me quite a bit, and most days I struggle to get out of bed. Trying to get my shit together though, and gonna talk to my pcp soon about adjusting my meds, since this is not at all what I need to be feeling like.
But I'm working alot today, and I'm just about done with
yiggers badge buddy, then I'll get the icon for my labrat
minibell drawn up. Look for more stuff getting posted recently, I can't lay on my couch forever.

Posted 8 years agoOpening 3 more badge buddy slots. I'm going to stick with the $30 flat rate for now and that includes basic shipping.
Comment below with a reference to nab a slot. If you have any questions check my TOS.
I'm also wanting to try to make icons. I would be making the physical icon in felt, probably 2x2 inches, and would scan it in and send you a couple different sizes. I will only be doing one side, and would not be mailing the physical product, just the digital scans.
So for the first experimental icon commission I'm only charging $10 for the first one, and only opening up the one slot.
Also I may be raising my prices a little bit after this run of comissions, I'm getting my confidence back a little, and I'm trying to balance my views of how much work is put into them, and what is ultimately a disposable *EDIT* disposable is a bad word, but... with a limited life span? *EDIT END* product.
Anyways, comment below with refs for a slot. Say something special if you want to be my lab rat for an icon.

Posted 9 years agoFinally got some time to get my FA back up and running. Life has had some highs and lows in the last year or so. Valentine passed on last Dec 20th, and I had her cremated so I could keep her with me always. With the treatment she was able to stay with me several more months, and was snuggling and purring in my lap until the end. Thank you for those of you that sent some funds with me to help with the bills, it certainly helped alot.
But basically I've been up and down depression/anxiety wise. Things are getting to be a bit better, but with some new bills coming up, and not getting a lot of hours at my regular hours during the colder months, I'm going to be opening up commissions again starting in January. Gonna be checking over my TOS and such in the next few days to make sure everything is still good and current.
Also hoping to get some business cards made up soon with an image I made up a while ago, so I'll be uploading that soon too.
Look for more updates coming soon. Seagull is getting back into the professional art game.

Need help with vet bills. Looking for Donations/Commissions
Posted 10 years agoSo this is my first time doing something like this, so bear with me. Also a bit TLDR
I got my cat, Valentine about 8 years ago when she was a young adult. She was living in the street outside a friend's house, and he called her "Stubbles the porch kitty" since she was missing a back foot. I took her home and named her Valentine after the main character's sister in Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.
Cut to 6 months ago - Valentine started getting really skinny and lethargic. After a couple vet visits we discovered the problem was with her kidneys, and started her on a prescription diet, daily medication, and fluids.
A month ago she got really bad. She stopped eating, drinking, and could barely move. I rushed her too my vet, and they didn't have anything they could do. I took her home, and doubled her fluids, and started giving her kitten formula with a bottle twice a day. For days she spent her days laying in the floor under my shelf, and her nights purring her head off while I bottle fed her and pet her until I couldn't stay awake. Against all odds she started to regain the weight, and eventually started eating solid foods again. She started getting more active, and I started getting hope back.
Two weeks again one of her paws was swelling and I took her back in. Turns out it was just fluids settling and not absorbing too fast, but they went ahead and ran blood tests to check some levels while she was there. Her numbers were terrible. After consulting an internal medicine specialist vet and talking about options and prices, we decided to give Valentine all the chance she could get, and go ahead with a blood transfusion to replace red blood cells, and medications to keep her condition in check.
Valentine had Feline Chronic Kidney Disease. It is a serious but treatable condition. And she can live for years with proper care.
More info on CKD - http://www.felinecrf.org/index.htm
With careful research I should be able to get her medications and supplies for about $60-70 per month, with is fine.
Unfortunately, all the vet visits and treatments in the past month have added up to about $3,000 on my credit card.
The bill is going to be due November 8th, and at least until then I'm going to be picking up extra shifts at my job, working seven days a week if I'm able. But I'd like to see if anybody would be willing or able to help me get out of this hole.
I have a list of things I can send to people for donations, and I'll be opening up a few commission slots, as well as selling off some previous projects, to try to raise enough to get this bill payed off before the interest gets too bad.
FOR ALL DONATIONS

Please put "For Val" in the subject line, then the letter for the reward/thanks you would like. Some things have very limited quantity, so I'm going to have to make it a first come first served basis.
Also every little bit helps, so please spread this journal around if you can, and if you'd like to donate some artwork just note or email me the details and I'll add it to the list.

G. $100 Donation : SURPRISE CRAFTING SPREE I will make you something amazing with my current crafting supplies, mostly paint, felt and thread, based around an animal or theme of your choice. The finished piece will be flat enough to hang on your wall, and will be a minimum of 30 hours work. For an example, Badge buddies and puppets take an average of 10 hours to complete. (ONLY ONE AVAILABLE) The perfect option if you want to help out a lot, and you like putting sections on your wall in the hands of a near stranger.
Well, that's all I've got for now. I'll be adding to this list as I go. I'll probably be seeing if there are any plushies I can part with, and start up a bit of a virtual garage sale. Any sharing of this journal is greatly appreciated, and any advice on fund raising would be great too. I didn't want to make a GoFundMe since they take at least 3%.
Thanks for reading, and currently Valentine is doing great! She's still gaining weight, and is active and loving as ever.

Needing a small amount of black fur! Nevermind!
Posted 10 years agoSo I've been working on my suit lately, and I'm needing a touch of black fur for my face markings. The Joann's by my place didn't have anything suitable (ha! SUITable) and I was wondering if anybody would be willing to send me a little bit.
I'd need very little. 1 square foot would be plenty, and I'd be willing to pay $ to cover cost + shipping. I just need something about 1/2 inch long and not terribly matted looking or shiny.
If anybody has got a little extra left over from a project, let me know!
EDIT : Found some black craps I grabbed from friends in the bottom of my work tub.

Commissions still open! Also personal projects!
Posted 10 years agoI'm still open for commissions. Still waiting for approval from a couple commissioners, so I've been working on personal projects in the mean time.
I've finished two paintings which I'll be posting soon, and I've resumed working on my fursuit with some extra fur I picked up from Beastcub a while ago when she was cleaning out old stock. I've ordered my claws and nose from Dreamvision so I can keep having something to work on in the mean time, but I totally wouldn't mind getting interrupted by a badge buddy or two. :P

Spring Break! Also why I'm so unproductive.
Posted 11 years agoSo... I've taken some time away from other crafts to work on my painting, which I've never given an honest try to before. I'm enjoying the break, but I'm about to get back into the felt game.
Work has been crazy busy lately too. There's been a lot of changes where I work, including a completely new menu and system, so that's kept me super busy. Plus spring break just started yesterday, which is super busy in my line of work. So lots of changes, plus super busy spring break, equals an exhausted and frazzled roo.
I'm gonna jump back into it though. Gonna try to get some sketches done for the round of badge buddies I picked up at furry fiesta soon, so I can get back in to the habit of a relaxing sewing session after work.
Hopefully I'll be opening up some commission slots in the next month or so.

Opening 3 commission slots tomorrow! 1/2/14
Posted 12 years agoI'll be opening three commission slots tomorrow at 6pm Central standard time.
The slots will each be one item, so I'll only be taking commissions for three items.
There won't be any restrictions on the number of items each person can commission, so one person can take all three slots if they'd like.
I'm only wanting to make three things this time around so I don't have a super long list of things to work on. Plus I got alot of painting supplies for Christmas, and I'm going to start teaching myself to paint, so that will take a bit of time away.
And thank you for all my friends and watchers for having patience with me and keeping an eye on my work. I'm glad that there are people out there that like seeing my work as much as I like making it. <3
I'll see all you crazy kids tomorrow!

Commissions opening back up in January!
Posted 12 years agoBeen taking a little time off to de-stress from commission work. Something about the holiday season just throws my anxiety into overdrive. But I'll be opening back up for commissions in January, as well as introducing some new options for stuff I can make. I've still got pictures to post from Oklacon, as well as a couple of small things I've been working on since then. But I'll keep you guys updated. And remember to check out my TOS. It's constantly updated with current prices and such.
Back to work!
Posted 12 years agoBack from Oklacon and I had a blast! Welcome to my new watchers and I promise lots of cute felt things posted in the future. I've got two commissions to finish up from my previous list, and a couple small commissions from friends I picked up at the con, but I should be opening up some commission slots soon. Probably not going to open trade slots for a bit though, since I'm gonna be doing another trade with my amazing friend
thatgreenmonster Turns out she loves my stuff as much as I love hers! Got a couple things from the con that'll be posted in the next couple of days, including some pony badge buddies I made that didn't find homes at the con. Keep an eye out!

Posted 12 years agoHad an awesome time in Florida with my family, got to see lots of alligators and loads of different touristy stuff. But now I'm back on the grind. I posted the stuff I got done while I was gone, and I'm jumping back into the game.
Tour dates announced for Summer of the Seagull! (vacation)
Posted 12 years agoSo I'll be on the road for 2 weeks having a summer adventure! My mom and grandmother own a timeshare in Hollywood, Florida, about half way between Boca Raton and Miami. It's a nice little place right on the coast, and I'm super excited I was able to get time off work to go.
I'll be bringing my sewing stuff along, so I can work on commissions a bit while I'm there, but I'm not gonna put on a huge priority on owed art until I get back. Vacation you know? I'll probably spend most on my time laying on the beach with a book.
We'll be taking four days to drive down there so it's not to hard on my grandmother, and three days to drive back. We'll get to Hollywood, FL on Saturday, and we have a week at the timeshare.
Due to the proximity to Megaplex, I might be able to make an appearance, but it'll probably just be for Sunday if I'm able to make it up there at all.
Anyway, I'll have my laptop, and my sprint aircard, so I'll have internet while I'm away, but I'm gonna try to just relax for a bit and enjoy my vacation.
Thanks a ton guys, you're all the best! I'll miss all the local furs for a bit, but I'll be back!

Thanks a ton guys, you're all the best! I'll miss all the local furs for a bit, but I'll be back!
Update! No Fiesta for me, also new job.
Posted 12 years agoSo I'm not going to make it to Furry Fiesta this year. It's gonna be the first year I missed, but it would take a lot of financial stretching and things to make it possible, so I'm just giving it a miss this year.
On a more positive note, I am now officially employed by my local zoo. Today was my first full day, and although I'm basically doing the same stuff I've done before (Food Service), it seems like it's going to be really easy and a lot of fun.
It's a seasonal and part time position officially, but I don't think it'll be hard to get my foot permanently in the door if I let them know that's what I'd like.
Also met a fellow fur on my first day. It's always nice to have a friendly fur face in a new environment.
I'm going to be working quite a bit, but I'm going to be working on commissions in the evenings, and try not to get more behind than I already feel like I am. If you have a question about the status of your commission you can always check my userpage, and I keep an updated list on there of my current commissions and their progress. And if you have any other questions feel free to note me.

Sorry for the Delay!
Posted 13 years agoSorry I've been working slowly and not posting lately, but I've been dealing with a pretty bad cold since before Christmas. But I'm back in the game now and getting some sketching done for the next round of badge buddies.
Sorry it's pushing all my commission back a bit, but I'm gonna be pushing myself alot these next few weeks, making up for lost time and putting in a bunch of job applications.
Wish me luck and thanks for being so patient with me everybody!

Order of Commissions
Posted 13 years agoOkie dokie, so I thought I'd clarify the order of which I'll be completing my current commission list, just so everyone is on the same page.
First I'm going to complete the badge buddy for
taillone , since that should have been done at Oklacon.
Next I reconnected with
MidnightFyre at Oklacon. Apparently her notes got lost in the system, so I'll be working on hers next since she's been on my list forever.
Then I'll get to work on the list of commissions I opened here on FA, starting with
gargoyale , then on to the new commissions I picked up at Oklacon.
Thanks for being patient with me guys, I'm still relatively new to taking commissions. I've only been in the game for a year or so, and that's why I don't take money from commissioners until I'm ready to start sewing on theirs. Makes me feel a little better about how long it takes me to sew sometimes.
And welcome to the new watchers streaming in after Oklacon. I appreciate every single one of you, and was so surprised with all the attention and compliments I was recieving there. It's happy faces that make me so happy to be doing what I'm doing!
