Deadpool review (NO SPOILERS) and a quick State of the Ott.
Posted 9 years agoA quick State of the Ott first.
So, We went to Walt Disney World at the end of January.
It was awesome, We met SO many people there, literally I has arranged to meet people EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Locals and people who happened to be vacationing when we were.
I hope I dont leave anyone out but- Wildmark- thanks for the fast passes and being out guide all week.
Tigeris and Goliath- I love seeing you guys as often as I can. Yay, daddy and wuff/otter time!
Ozzy and friend- I am SO SO Sorry I don't remember your name- We didn't see ya long but was nice to hang out
Haku- I hope we get to meet up again at FWA. You are awesome.
Noxy and Boon- Love you guys, Sorry we don't talk as often as we should.
Digo, Melly, and kiddo- Always awesome to see you guys again. Sorry it was short.
Javi, Cadpig, and Autumn- Awesome hanging out. Sorry it was so rainy :(
So yeah, we met up with a LOT of people. And both Paul and I got pretty sick. I got bronchitis/pneumonia, and I am STILL trying to shake the cough. Annoying.
Ok, now to the Deadpool review.
AWESOME.
Ok, a little more than that.
As it goes, it wasn't like earth shattering or like a movie for the ages or anything.
It was the most gory movie I have ever seen (Take that with a grain of salt as I don't go around looking for gory movies, but this one was like seriously gory).
It was also one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen. There are so many 4th wall breaks, and even a 4th wall break INSIDE a 4th wall break. There are pop culture references and a lot of self-humor.
With the excessive violence and language, it is NOT for kids.
I am not sure that people who are not fans of comics would really get all the humor. You don't really have to know anything about Deadpool, or comics in general before you watch the movie, but it will REALLY help. It will help you get a lot of really fast moving references and TONS of in jokes. TONS.
I think they do a good job weaving the movie together, and it is not just action from start to end like some super hero movies. There is a lot of character development, but that's OK, it's done at a fast pace, so it never ever gets slow or boring. You are always excited to see what comes next
People who are fans of the comics will see character names they recognize, even if some, like Weasel and Blind Al are slightly different from the comics, they all have their place and are not shoehorned in, they all have an integral part to the plot.
They did have Colossus and another X-Men character in there, but again they had a fairly minimal part and did move the plot along, and there were some funny parts with them, I wasn't sure if they would fit in, but they did a good job, they weren't in there too long. And Deadpool got some good X-Men jabs in there.
If I had a complaint, it was one I was worried about. There have been a lot of very good parts of the movie that they have put in the previews, so they are less of a laugh cause I know what is coming. But that is a pretty light complaint. If that's the worst part of it, that is pretty good.
Well that, and as someone else complained about, all the previews before the movie were shit, but that isn't the movie's fault. Not sure who to blame on that.
The soundtrack is AWESOME. There are some great songs from the 80's and 90's in there. It sounds weird. but if you watch it, they actually make a lot of sense. Even from the very opening credits, which were a fucking laugh riot.
BEST. OPENING. CREDITS.
EVER.
Oh yeah, and the closing credits are funny, and STAY FOR THE END. The every end, there is a little outro bonus. I hope everyone gets the reference. It is fucking hilarious.
So yes, as long as you are over 18, (which I hope everyone who is watching me is), GO SEE THIS MOVIE.
IT'S FUCKING GREAT!
I'm going to go hug a unicorn. (Watch the movie and you will understand......)

I need photography help! I have questions about Disney trip!
Posted 9 years agoHey Photografurs (yeah, I said it)
I need some help.
I am going to Disney and I really want to take some nice pictures.
I will be going from Jan 22- Jan 29 so I don't have much time to do this.
I have a Nikon 3200D with 2 lenses, the stock 18-55mm and a 55-200mm.. They are 52mm wide, so that that is size of the filters I need.
I am wondering what kind of filters I could use to take better shots. I will be outside in clear and cloudy weather, as well as inside under different lighting conditions, as well as taking pictures of animals behind glass.
Also, any suggestions that you can give me about shooting animals, behind glass, moving objects, etc, I will greatly appreciate.
Please link this journal to any photographers you know.

Well, I feel like crap.
Posted 9 years agoThere was someone who was looking to commission someone else. I offered that I was open for commissions and gave a link to my prices and examples.
And I received back... Thanks for the offer but I need some to draw it better."
For someone who has already had a lot of self-esteem issues, especially when it comes to my art, this i REALLY not what I wanted to hear.
That really tanked my mood today and makes me want to draw even less. Not that anyone would really notice, I get so few commissions anyways.

INCOMING ART DUMP- Lots of Christmas art for friends
Posted 9 years agoSo I am just about to do a giant art dump.
I wanted to make some of my friends a little picture for Christmas.
I feel bad that I think I sacrificed some quality for quantity. There were even more people that I wanted to draw for, but I just ran out of time.
So if you didn't get one, I am very sorry.
I am not sure if I will be able to do this every year, the list of people I want to draw for just seems to get longer and longer. But for this year, I am finally done.
To the people who got one,. I hope you like it, and I am sorry that I am not a better artist.
Enjoy.

Star Wars review- WARNING!! SPOILERS!!!!!
Posted 9 years agoThis review has SPOILERS.
So this is your last chance to turn back.
If you do not want spoilers to Star Wars, do not read any further.
Ok, well if you are still reading, I assume that you have already seen the movie.
And it's gonna be pretty long, so bear with me please.
So, I guess I have to address the elephant in the room. Han Solo. Apparantly Harrison Ford had wanted Han Solo to die in the original trilogy.
Well. I guess he got his wish. When they started to talk, I had a bad feeling about this (pun TOTALLY intended). I have heard some people say that it wasn't really a good way for him to die, that he should have had a more heroic death, but I have to disagree. He has gone past all of that. He is much older and wiser now, and while he obviously can fight when he needs to, he doesn't go out of his way to pick a fight. In fact he was actively avoiding it, which was what he had always done, even in the first movies.
As soon as he got lightsabered, I literally yelled out "Oh come on!" I was thinking it might happen but when it did, I STILL wasn't ready for it.
And Kylo Ren. There were so many rumors. Many people thought he would be Luke, but one of the first thing he ever says proves that wont be the case. He was obviously looking for Skywalker as well, so the question was, who is he?
I was afraid that they wouldn't tell us until close to the end. But we found out about halfway through, which was nice. And wow. I was sure that he would be related to one of the main characters, but who? I am actually kinda glad it was Han and Leia. That makes sense. So how long has he been bad? (prolly not too long, as he looks fairly young) and what turned him bad? (We still don't know). And I love that his name is (was?) Ben, I assume after Ben Kenobi.
And the other gorilla in the room- the similarities between this movie and the 4th movie (sorry, its always the first movie to me, so I am gonna call it the first movie from now on here.
Some people don't like that Abrams did that And I see why people could say that, maybe thinking that its a lack of creativity.
But I don't see it that way at all. The force has always been cyclical. It makes sense that things have come back around again. There is a TINY part of me that was VERY slightly taken out of the moment when I thought "Oh, I see what part of the first movie this is like." But then something would happen that would draw me right back in right away.
Despite what I said above, I LIKE that they made it thematically like the first movie in places. You can see who is playing what characters. Po is kinda like Han (even though he kinda has elements of Luke as well, with being a good pilot and a major player in the rebellion. Rey is definately like Luke. Finn, I am not really sure where he fits. He has some elements of Luke and Han, but honestly for the most part, he is his own character, which I like.
I love the character, I am sorry I dont remember her name, the orange alien they meet, the one that has Luke's lightsaber. She is kind of like Yoda- a wise voice and a way to point people in the right direction (albeit without any force).
I really hope that Finn doesn't turn out to be, like some rumors think, Lando's son. I want people to be their own characters, they dont all HAVE to be related to each other.
On that related note, I am not sure if I want Rey to be, as again some have speculated/rumored, Luke's daughter. Again they don't ALL have to be related, though it WOULD make sense since she is strong in the Force. So I am of differing opinions on that, but we won't know anything for a while anyways, so I will let it play out as it will.
JJ Abrams- only a few lensflares (thank you!) He did a GREAT job. I had faith in him as a director, but this was a BIG job to take on. There is a LOT of lore and a LOT of fans who would pissed if he got it wrong. (Looking at you, Lucas.)
Oh yeah, I almost forgot (HOW CAN I FORGET??) Luke Skywalker.
So, I was a bit worried that he would only be there at the end. And he was. I was really hoping we would see a little bit more of him. By then end of the movie I was thinking "Are they gonna shoehorn Luke in at the very end?"
It felt a TAD shoehorned, and it would have been nice to have him say something, but then again, it still worked. You can read the emotions in his face, and that was all you really needed.
So overall, it was an awesome movie. Obviously if you are reading this you have seen it already, so I don't really need to tell you.
I saw it in 3-D and I was glad. I am hoping that I will get to see it again. If I do I want it to be in standard so I can compare the two.

Star Wars- NO SPOILERS.
Posted 9 years agoOh lord I SOOOOOO want to write more here, but I don't want any spoilers, so I will have to keep this kinda brief and generic.
GO SEE IT.
SERIOUSLY.
It is awesome.
And I would strongly suggest going to see it in 3-D. There is no 3-D for 3_D sake, It is very well done, and it isn't overdone.
The plot, well, I can't say too much. You get to see some old friends and some new heroes. I love the way that Finn is introduced. We don't get a lot of backstory, but enough that you can understand his motivations.
Thematically, this movie has a lot in common with #4, a New Hope (it will always be the FIRST movie to me, lol) No that isn't spoilerish, because it doesn't explain what happens, just that you can see some of that movie in this one.
Man, there is so much more I want to say.. Maybe I will make a spoiler review as well. (Yes I will mark it)
Just please, go see it. You won't regret it. I promise.

LAST CALL FOR ADDRESSES FOR CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY CARDS!!
Posted 10 years agoThis is my LAST call for Christmas/Holiday cards.
There are certain friends who I would like to get back with me ASAP, please DM me your addy and REAL NAME!
Noxy
Armand
Flash Lion
Blake Otter
Wildmark
Lazer Hyena
Anyone else who is not on this list, if you would like to get a Christmas/Holiday card, please comment here and DM me your REAL NAME and address.
I am willing to send out of the US, but it is possible it may not make it in time.
Due to having pretty limited funds, I will have to put a limit to the amount of people I can do this for, so if you want one, get in early.
Also, these will not be hand made cards, they will be store bought cards with a personal message (and maybe a 10 sec sketch?) inside.
And I love getting cards as well, so if you want to send one back, just tell me and I will give you my addy, but it is not required of course. :)
If anyone knows anyone on this list above, PLEASE get in touch with them and tell them to DM, Email, Skype, AIM or YIM me their address ASAP.
Thanks.

FA Grant-A-Wish Holiday 2015
Posted 10 years ago~Step 1~
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really and truly want.
If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.
________________________________________
~Step 2~
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it is in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another person's treasure. If you have a leather jacket that you do not wear, or a gift certificate you will not use, or even know where you could get someone's dream for free -- then just do it! You do not need to spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point is not to put people out, it is to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -AND- to spread the holiday joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not since it is your choice. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just make a wish and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you will have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
_______________________________________________________
~Step 3~
My Top 10 Wishes (In order of need/want)
If anyone does want to send me something through the mail, just DM me here please and I will DM you my physical address.
1. Money. I know its silly, but around June, we had to pay out about 3K for funeral expenses and car repairs, then about $500 more in July to help a family member with bills, and $300 more recently for a trip, so we are really depleting our savings nest egg (not to mention actually OWING the IRS this year because of a mistake last year).
If anyone wants to do this, my paypal is seaweed[at]seaweedotter.com
2. Art of my characters. Of course Seaweed (and especially cubby Seaweed) would be first on my list, but you are more than welcome to draw whichever of my characters that you like!
A few refs in case ya want em.
Grown up Seaweed (Southern Sea Otter)- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8279777/ (feel free to have her wearing the same t-shirt/shorts as in the cubby ref below or the Gamecock jersey also in my gallery)
Cubby Seaweed (Southern Sea Otter)- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15873562/
Gulo (Wolverine)- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10211567/
Nevermore Blackmane (or simply Ne'er) (Raven/Panther gryphon)- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16608817/ (also a better pic of his face) http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16548876/
Punk'n (original species)- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16609273/
3. A new tablet. I know this is a very long shot, and I am not looking for anything super duper expensive, but I have had this tablet for at least 4 years now. I got it when I worked for Best Buy and that was at least 3 years ago. It's served me well, but its scratched up to hell and occasionally derps and stops working right. This one is the base model Wacom Bamboo. I'm guessing the drawing surface is 4x5 inches maybe? That's all I want, just something similar to replace it.
4. Almost anything otters, especially sea otters (Yes, I love river otts too!). Plush, books, figurines, videos, ornaments, whatever. If it's otter, then I am sure that I will like it. This is a tad tricky cause I have a LOT of otter plush (I'd guess around 200?) but even if I have it already, I will keep it and treasure it!
5. Almost anything Disney, especially if it has to do with Figment from the Epcot ride "Journey Into Imagination" and DOUBLE especially if its older and has to do with the ORIGINAL ride from the 80's. One thing I also LOVE are old travel guides, like the Birenbaum guides, or the Official Guides that you can find on Ebay and Amazon real cheap sometimes. I'm looking for Disney World more than Disneyland, as I have never been to DL.
This one is a little tricky as well though because I already have a lot of stuff like pins and plush and such, but even if its a double, I will still put it into my collection and treasure it!
6. Padding. I know not everyone is into this, so please skip this if it isn't your thing. Sorry to put this here, but it is part of my wish list. There are some brands I would LOVE to try even if its just a 2 piece sample pack. That would include Crinklz, the original and the new safari, Rearz spoiled, Snuggies Waddler overnight, the new ABU that will come out soon, Snuggies SeX, and any Fabine. Size wise, XL if they come in it, or Large if they don't. If anyone has any type that either they have changed sizes or just want to send a one or two my way, I don't care what type they are, I would give them a good home!
7. Legos- But a little caveat with this one. What I am really looking for is actually kinda hard to find. I love ANY legos, but what I am MOST looking for are the OLD space sets from the early/mid 1980's, like
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LEG.....4AAOSwZVhWSoBf
and
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-197.....cAAOSwnipWXMoz
I don't care if they have the box or instructions (though its a plus), I'd just like all the parts to be there.
8. Anything from my Amazon wish list. https://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/.....=AF7BAP4OXNPX3 (Hopefully that link works...)
9. Certain candies (though not sure how they would get shipped to me without melting) such as Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, the *REAL* Smarties from Canada (the chocolate ones, not the chalky ones from the US), also from Canada- Lion bars (including the new WHITE CHOCOLATE ONES (I wanna try one so bad) and Kinder eggs (semi-illegal in the US I think). Peanut butter M&Ms, Peanut butter Twix (noticing a trend?), regular M&Ms, Hershey Kisses and almost anything white chocolate are loved as well.
10. Paid cards for a month on World of Warcraft. I've let it lapse and haven't really had the desire to pay for it, but I do want to get back into the game, especially because there is a new expansion coming out. I guess I would put as an and/or... A copy of the newest World of Warcraft expansion, Legion. The release date sounds like summer of 2016, so a Blizzard card to pay for it when it does would be totally awesome.
Also, please feel free to post a link to your wish list here. I am not sure what I can fulfill, but I can at least get the word out to others!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!

No Homecon (not that anyone cares most likely)
Posted 10 years agoWell, since there has been ZERO interest in my Christmas/Holiday YCH, I see no need to participate in Homecon, as I have no commissions to work on.
I do have some art to do, the highest priorities are a monthly trade due on the 20th, and another trade that I have already received my half.
If I get a wild hair, I might stream a little bit on Thursday 19th or Friday 20th to finish these two.
But right now, to be honest, I am not feeling particularly artistic. I am actually pretty discouraged that the last two YCHs didn't have ONE SINGLE PERSON interested.
I want to thank all the people on here and especially on Twitter that spread the word and retweeted when I advertised that I was open for this YCH. You guys tried to help as much as you could, and I really do appreciate that.
I mean I know I'm not the best artist, but I'd like to think that I am improving. I see my art even from earlier this year and think that it looks at least a little better.
Are my prices too high? I tried to price my items reasonably, but it takes hours to do art, I am not quick about it, and if I priced out how much I charge as opposed to how long a piece of art takes, I'd probably be earning $3-4 an hour. I know, this isn't my job, but still its a lot of work.
Anyways, enough of my bitching. I doubt anyone wants to hear my sob story anyways.

State of the Ott- November edition
Posted 10 years agoSo, 2015 has been a very up and down year.
I have have some friends come to visit, which was great. I have been to a couple of cons and seen more friends there, and made new friends as well which was really fun.
But it has also been a really sad year. Paul lost his mother (my mother in law) in late July, and just a couple of days ago her sister, Paul's aunt, died as well. So it's been really crappy in that respect.
In other news, the cat has been settling in well, we have had her I'd guess about 6 weeks or so, and she seems quite happy here. Though with a cat its hard to tell what they are thinking.
Because of what just happened, we are not sure if Paul's dad (my father in law) is going to come up for Thanksgiving. He was planing on taking a Greyhound up here, but because of this, everything is kind of up in the air.
Also, I updated my art queue, the one that shows up at the bottom of every journal. I have a lot to do this month, and that will go into next month as well, as some of this art is holiday gift/Secret Santa related. It's actually kinda nice to have a queue, a reason to draw. Or else its easy to just be lazy and not bother drawing. So happy I have a commission! And it's for a friend too, so that's extra pressure to do well! :)
We are starting to gear up for the holidays. If Paul's dad comes down (which it looks like he probably will) then we may put up the tree before he comes, so we Ill have the tree up by the 20th, or do it while he is here. This will be the first year of having a Christmas tree with a cat, so this should be.. interesting, LOL.
I guess that's about it for right now. Don't forget that despite my queue list, I am still open for commissions!
And coming soon will be a holiday themed YCH, so keep an eye out for that! Tigerdile is doing another HomeCon for the after Thanksgiving weekend, so I think I will open them up for that! I will also have other specials running, so keep watching! :)
Stay awesome, people!

ABU Space Diapers Review
Posted 10 years agoI know there is a section here with pictures, but I apologize.. I have not uploaded the pics yet.. But I wanted to go ahead and put up the review. I promise I will update this when I can get these and more pictures of the "aftermath" uploaded either here on on my personal website.
So, I was lucky enough to bother AB Universe until they agreed to send me a sample of the XL space diapers.
I was very impressed, they were sent 2nd day air. I spoke with them on Thursday afternoon and I got the sample in the mail on Saturday morning. Of course I know that they will send the packs and cases regular mail and they will not arrive that fast, but I was impressed that they sent the samples so fast. I am guessing that it was because they are going to go on sale in a couple of weeks and they want to get as many reviews and opinions as they could before they available to the general public.
Okay, so on to the review. In the interest of full disclosure, even though I will release the review in one big post, I am actually going to review and test the product in two parts over two different days.
The first part will be a general overview of the product, pictures of different angles and features, and general opinions. Because of my schedule, I will not be able to actually try on the product and test it until several days later. I will review its fit, how comfortable it is, its absorbancy, and other general thoughts.
This review will be punctuated with MANY pictures to help illustrate my thoughts and give a better overall picture of the design and features of the product.
First thoughts- THICK. I am not sure how they are going to feel when I put them on, but they look pretty huge. They are probably not going to work too terribly well for walking around under clothing, but with the all over design. I don't think that is really the point.
The second first thought would be the design. There have been perhaps one or two companies that have tried any sort of all over design. I know the makers of Fabines have, and also whomever makes the Amour diaper, but as far as I know this is the first one to have both an all over design AND a color as well. I could be wrong, but this diaper is a first in many ways, it seems.
On to the pictures and some more specific talk about the look, features, etc.
<IMG_3257.JPG>
This is both of the diapers I got stacked as they came in the bag. Its a bit hard to tell because I have no point of reference for size, but they are quite thick.
<IMG_3258.JPG>
A side view of the diapers stacked on top of each other. You can see a bit of the very crinkly and quite wide landing zones for the tapes. Of course the diapers are plastic backed, with a thicker, louder clear tape for the landing zones, so I have a feeling that these will be quite loud when you have them on. You can also see a bit of the elastic waistband at the top. I have a better pic of that later.
<IMG_3259.JPG>
This is top view of one diaper by itself. The design is really cute. There are green aliens and UFOs, moons, stars, rocket ships, planets, and the space ABU icon. Even though its branded with its own logo, it isn't too overwhelming. It might have been nice to not have their own logo or have it less, but that is a pretty light complaint. It also would have been awesome to have something like the stars or moons or something disappear when wet, but I know that would really up the price and they are trying to keep these somewhat affordable, which I really appreciate. (PLEASE SEE MY ADDENDUM TO THIS COMMENT IN THE LAST SECTION OF COMMENTS)
<IMG_3260_JPG>
Side view of the single diaper. Sorry it seems a tad fuzzy. My iPhone4 doesn't have the best camera. Again, you can see the thickness, even folded. This is its initial fold, it has not been opened and refolded (they always look thicker when they are refolded).
<IMG_3261.JPG>
The diaper up on its side so you can get a better idea of how damn thick these things are. It also shows the nice overall design.
<IMG_3262.JPG>
This is the back of the diaper, showing some more of the design.
<IMG_3263.JPG>
The diaper unfolded, with the wings still folded up. You can see some of the quilted design of the inner padding, as well as the side gathers.
<IMG_3264.JPG>
Another view of the first unfold. You can see one of the two tapes for each side. They are very wide, and as with most diaper designs they have the blue undertape so you can refasten them once if you need to.
<IMG_3265.JPG>
The front view of the first unfold, which gives a nice view of the wide, crinkly landing zones for the tapes.
<IMG_3266.JPG>
A view of the diaper totally unfolded. As you can tell, it has leg gathers in the middle, and an elastic waistband in both the front and the back, so I am hopeful that this will be a nice, custom fit to each person's individual body. There are two wide tapes in the back that are set a bit high and a bit close together, so I am not sure how that will translate to how it fits on the body. I will have to find out. It is interesting, the middle has the quilted design but the front and back are just flat. I wonder if that will be a problem for a female like me or a guy who points up when he is padded.
<IMG_3267.JPG>
Another angle of the diaper unfolded. There is an interesting continuation of the inner liner right to the edge of both the front and back of the diaper. I am not sure that I have seen that feature in other diapers either. One would think that something like that would really help, especially with bowel containment, but I do not intend to test the bowel containment abilities of this diaper, sorry. That will have to be left up to another reviwer.
<IMG_3268.JPG>
Close up of the quilting in the center. I am glad this seems to be quilted and not that cheap fluff you get in some diapers. I am hopeful that this means that I can wear it for a while without having the trouble of bunching fluff that comes with some cheaper diapers, but again I will have to wait and see.
<IMG_3269.JPG>
Close up of the elastic gathers on the middle sides of the diapers. It looks like it comes up pretty far, so I am hoping that will help with containment. I have a problem with wetting while I sit, either because of the weight of my body or the lack of quick absorbency, that almost every diaper leaks out the sides. I am hoping that this will be less of/not a problem with these. We shall see.
<IMG_3270.JPG>
Inside close up view of the elastic gathers, it gives a much better view of how high they come. You can see the smaller inside gather that most diapers have as well.
<IMG_3271.JPG>
View of the front elastic band, and you can also see what I was talking about with the inside gather that literally goes fron to back and down both sides. Unusual and very interesting.
<IMG_3272.JPG>
View of the back elastic band. Its adorable how the all over design really goes everywhere except the absorbent part of the diaper. Makes it very cute.
<IMG_3273.JPG>
The outside close up view of the tapes. They are pretty wide, I would guess that they are about as wide as the other premium diapers out there. As I said before, the placement seems a little odd, a bit high and fairly close together, so I am hoping that wont cause leaking/fit issues. I just noticed, there is a big dipper in the design too. How cute!
<IMG_3274.JPG>
Another close up of the inside absorbent layer.
<IMG_3275.JPG>
Sorry, it's another slightly blurry picture. This is a close up of the landing zone. You can see how wide it is, and it is super crinkly when you rub it. These are not stealth diapers for sure.
<IMG_3276.JPG>
Inside view of the tapes. Wide, with the blue double tape for re-taping if needed. The tape are wide but they seem a bit short. I wish they had been a little longer, especially with larger people, it helps to be able to pull that tape a litle further to get a little better fit, but I will have to see how they work when I try them.
<IMG_3277.JPG>
Bonus pic- I decided to try to re-fold the diaper and see how I could do. Not too well. That of course makes it look thicker than it normally would when it comes folded from the factory, but any way you slice it, it is a very big diaper.
So those are all the pics for the initial review, before I try it on.
A few last thoughts.
I love the all over design, I think the inside absorbent part looks like it will work well, but that will be determined soon. I like the gathers at the sides and the elastic in the front and back, I am hopeful that this will make it fit well. I did give it a dry run without taping it up, and I am more than a little concerned that they still look pretty small for being XLs. They look like they fit more like larges on other diapers. But I am going to reserve judgement until I actually try them on and see how they actually fit.
Several days later and I am FINALLY getting to try them on.
First impressions:
The fit is alright. They really don't feel like XL size, they fit like a roomy large. The overlap of material at the top is probably only a few inches.
The tapes are nice and large, and they seem to attach well. I had no problem with putting them on and making them stay.
The fit seems to be fine. It doesn't seem extra tight, but it seems like it fits well. It is THICK. I did not put any stuffers inside because I want to test its absorbancy, but with a stuffer or some other layer, one could very easily make this too thick to close your legs, if that is what you like.
ONE WORD- LOUD. I had a feeling that it would be loud and crinkly, and I was not disappointed. There is no way that you could hide that you are wearing a diaper, because of how thick and crinkly that it is. And honestly, with an all over diaper like this, this isnt the type to go out with and hide under your pants. This is the type to stay at home, have a little day, and show off your cute padding.
It is just as cute on as it looks like when unfolded. It is super adorable, and the all over design makes you feel really really little.
After use thoughts:
I wore it about 10 hours.
Wow, I am quite impressed. I drank a lot on purpose to try to test it, and I think I gave it a pretty good run.
I did not get any leaks after multiple wettings. Now to be fair for whatever reason tonight there were no larger "floods". Most of the wettings were smaller ones. But still, to wet while sitting down and not have it squish out of the sides is very good. That is a HUGE problem with what I normally well.
The material in the middle was not the cheap fluff, and there was absolutely no splitting or settling that you get in the cheaper diapers.
Normally because I am female, I soak the bottom part of the front, it tends to leak forward, and I leak before I can get a good front to back soaking.
But because these held well and soaked up well, I was actually able to go pretty much front to back, a rare feat, and something that was very much appreciated.
And I want to make an important addendum to something I said above. I thought that they did not have anything that faded when wet.
I WAS WRONG.
The large green spaceships that are all over the diaper, one of the more prevalent designs on it... THEY FADE WHEN WET.
This means that it is QUITE obvious when you are wet because there are a lot of indicators that will fade out.
That is even more reason to not wear them under pants, just wear them out at home so your mommy or daddy or caretaker can see when you need a change.
Final thoughts:
I am not sure when they will go on sale (pretty soon it sounds like) and I am not sure of what the prices will be, but this is an excellent what I would call "premium diaper".
By that I mean not one that you would wear every day (most likely too cost prohibitive for most, and too thick to go under anything but very loose pants/shorts), but this is a great diaper for when you have a day off and want to lounge around and play video games or color or play with legos all day. It could also be good in conventions or nursery sessions when you are in a room and you have someone who is taking care of you and will need to check you for when you need to be changed.
Diapers are like many things. You get what you pay for. And you can tell with these that they are just made better than the cheap diapers that you can find out there now. The price is higher, but you are getting a good fit, excellent absorbancy, good tapes, an adorable design, and even wetness indicators all over the padding, from front to back, which is a very unusual feature.
Are they perfect? No. I wish they were a little longer, and I wish the wings on both sides were a little wider, so you had a little more control over where the tapes go, The tapes are close together, and because of that you have a bit of a narrow window where the tapes sit north to south.
But the features in this diaper FAR FAR outweigh the little nitpicks that I have about it (and other than the length they are very very minor nitpicks). I think overall they did a great job of listening to what us- the consumers, want- and giving us an excellent product.
I definitely recommend giving them a try when they come out.
<IMG_3257.JPG>
This is both of the diapers I got stacked as they came in the bag. Its a bit hard to tell because I have no point of reference for size, but they are quite thick.
<IMG_3258.JPG>
<IMG_3259.JPG>
<IMG_3260_JPG>
Side view of the single diaper. Sorry it seems a tad fuzzy. My iPhone4 doesn't have the best camera. Again, you can see the thickness, even folded. This is its initial fold, it has not been opened and refolded (they always look thicker when they are refolded).
<IMG_3261.JPG>
The diaper up on its side so you can get a better idea of how damn thick these things are. It also shows the nice overall design.
<IMG_3262.JPG>
This is the back of the diaper, showing some more of the design.
<IMG_3263.JPG>
The diaper unfolded, with the wings still folded up. You can see some of the quilted design of the inner padding, as well as the side gathers.
<IMG_3264.JPG>
Another view of the first unfold. You can see one of the two tapes for each side. They are very wide, and as with most diaper designs they have the blue undertape so you can refasten them once if you need to.
<IMG_3265.JPG>
The front view of the first unfold, which gives a nice view of the wide, crinkly landing zones for the tapes.
<IMG_3266.JPG>
<IMG_3267.JPG>
<IMG_3268.JPG>
Close up of the quilting in the center. I am glad this seems to be quilted and not that cheap fluff you get in some diapers. I am hopeful that this means that I can wear it for a while without having the trouble of bunching fluff that comes with some cheaper diapers, but again I will have to wait and see.
<IMG_3269.JPG>
<IMG_3270.JPG>
Inside close up view of the elastic gathers, it gives a much better view of how high they come. You can see the smaller inside gather that most diapers have as well.
<IMG_3271.JPG>
View of the front elastic band, and you can also see what I was talking about with the inside gather that literally goes fron to back and down both sides. Unusual and very interesting.
<IMG_3272.JPG>
View of the back elastic band. Its adorable how the all over design really goes everywhere except the absorbent part of the diaper. Makes it very cute.
<IMG_3273.JPG>
How cute!
<IMG_3274.JPG>
Another close up of the inside absorbent layer.
<IMG_3275.JPG>
Sorry, it's another slightly blurry picture. This is a close up of the landing zone. You can see how wide it is, and it is super crinkly when you rub it. These are not stealth diapers for sure.
<IMG_3276.JPG>
<IMG_3277.JPG>

State of the Ott- October edition
Posted 10 years agoFirst off, just a reminder that I have a cubby Halloween YCH still open. It will be open until Halloween. It's only $20 for flat color, full background, any species, and gender!!!!
Okay, now that I got that out of the way....
October has marked some changes in Casa Del Ott y Wuff.
We got a kitty! I posted up a couple of pics of her so far on here and Twitter, but I am sure that there will be many more coming. She is so so wonderful, so loving. All black with a white star on her chest and big white blotch on her belly. We think she is about two. She's pretty vocal, likes to meow, and she is a LOUD purr machine! OMG get that motor running.
But.. Paul noticed this morning that she might have worms, so I am waiting to hear back from the shelter we got her at to get some meds, I hope. If she does, I don't think its bad, but it still worries me a lot.
In other news, I have been a slacker otter. I have about half of my gallery sorted, but I have neglected finishing it cause it is such a daunting task.. I have a A LOT of art here. But at least it will make all future submissions really easy to post already sorted so I wont have to do it again.
Also, I have been slack with keeping up with the art that I owe at the bottom of each journal. As you can see that is now fixed. I update it every month with new monthly art, as well as periodically when I get new commissions or finish what I have on my plate. I only have 2 current items on my plate, plus one optional contest I may enter and another swap that hasn't sent out assignments yet. So I am pretty light on art.
Of course I would love for that to change. I would LOVE to have a longer list than that.
To that end, I am still OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS! If you aren't interested in my Halloween YCH, I can do something else for you, Just take a look at my commission sheet and let me draw something for you!!!!

In friends and visitors move. I recently had an old friend form my past move about 20 minutes away, so I am hoping that we will get some hang out and some cub time soon, as soon as he gets settled here and everything. Apparently they have a nursery with a crib so I am interested in seeing that.
I had another friend visit at the end of September. I really should make a separate journal about that as we had a fund week of travel and puppy stuff.
And My buddy Lazer and his GF will be visiting just in time for Halloween, so we plan on doing cubby stuff and prolly giving out Halloween candy in fursuit. I actually did it last year and got some positive feedback. :)
And for my B-day I got a voucher to go see the otters at the Georgia Aquarium and do the Otter Encounter! I hope I get to do it soon, Ive been so busy that I haven't been able to get down there! I wanna see the otts!
Work has been.. interesting.. and by that I mean stressful. We just moved over to a new system so I am still trying to figure out how to do my job and not getting a lot of help in figuring it out and it is causing me some stress. But I know it will smooth out eventually.
And on a last note.. .. my annual pull my hair out and try my best to herd cats (AKA planning for the 2016) Disney trip has started. Last year was really bad because we had someone drop out (it was a family issue. there was nothing they could so about it) but it left us kinda scrambling price wise, and Disney didn't release their sale prices until late so we had less time to pay it off.
Well so far this year it has been strangely better (though still some high stress moments). We seem to have our lineup set already (Me, Paul, Ocicat, SteelClaw Fox, Brejar, and Bedtime Bear). We also have the dates set (Fri Jan 22- Fri Jan 29). AMAZINGLY, we have all- rather quickly- decided that we will go back to the Pop Century again, I think this is the third year in a row now. And even MORE AMAZINGLY, Disney is on the ball, and they have already come out with Play, Stay, and Dine prices (which is park tickets, Disney accommodations- for us the Pop Century, and 1 sit down meal, 1 snack, and 1 table service per day per person).
Trust me, if you go to Disney, USE THIS.. you will pay SO MUCH MORE for food if you pay out of pocket. I did the math.
And a bonus for the Disney trip, I will get to hang with some locals and semi locals including my daddy- Tigeris, Goliath, Kameron and possibly others, I am not sure yet.
And a double bonus, Haku Pamfer just happens to be going down there THAT SAME WEEK with his family, so we may get to hang with him some in the evenings at least, which is cool. I haven't seen him since FWA a few years ago.
So yeah, Disney is looking good right now. I am NOT liking the price, Disney keeps upping it, but dammit, PandaCon is a yearly tradition we have been doing for many years, so right now I just can't not go. *sigh*
So I guess that is about it for the state of the ott.. Thanks if you actually read this far.
Stay awesome! *wiggles into the sunset*

Folders
Posted 10 years agoSo.... I am struggling a bit on how to get those new fangled folders created and set up and such.
I am going to start work on organizing them into folders over the next few days.
I have the first page done.. So 1 page down, about 13 pages more to go I think? Eep!
Please give me a little time, I have over 600 submissions to go through so it may take a bit of time.
Thanks!

post MFM thoughts
Posted 10 years agoSo, another MFM has come and gone. And once again I am at home, trying to keep from crying because there are so many people that I only see for those 4 days every year.
But, as always, even though I had an awesome time as I always do, I am still left worrying and wondering. Lingering doubts and troubles enter my mind.
I know that jealousy is an inherently human emotion, but the jealousy is always followed by self loathing and disappointment that I feel that way. I have no real reason to be jealous, and yet I am. And it makes me upset that I feel that way, but I cannot stop, its like telling someone to stop breathing, its just ingrained in your being.
But its a weird dichotomy. On one hand, I felt some jealousy over the weekend, but at the same time I also worried that I was being too clingy and too much of a pest, and the two feelings were constantly warring with each other.
There was one particular group of people that I hung out with the entire weekend. And while that larger group sometimes broke off into smaller groups, as a general rule, this large group was pretty much together the entire con, which was great. I love every single one of them, and I miss every single one of them as well.
But I feel like I am just tagging along, like I am just trying to be with the "cool kids" or something. I know that a lot of it stems from my lack of self confidence and nervous nature, and there is a part of my brain that tries to tell me "Aww, you are just imagining things". But I can never shake that feeling that people are just tolerating me or just being nice to me to not hurt my feelings.
I almost wish people would have told me if I was doing something wrong, if I was being too loud, or if I was being too clingy or whatever. It'd be tough because of my self consciousness, but it would make me a better person in the long run, which would actually improve self confidence.
I dunno.. *sigh* I'm just rambling, and maybe its just the post con depression talking, but even not at cons I feel this way, that I am on the outside looking in, and that people for some reason are nice enough to let me hang out, but that I will never really be a part of whatever group I am with.

When it rains, it pours.
Posted 10 years agoWhen it rains, it pours.
Well, we were starting to get back on our feet again.
But as usual, life throws a curve ball.
My father in law was told that the Social Security that he got this month for his wife- he will have to give it back because she passed at the end of July.
So that is $500 that he doesn't have.
He is an elderly man, with no job and a litany of his own medical problems, including asbestosis and he is almost legally blind, and partially deaf.
Of course there was no discussion between my husband and I, we sent him a check for $500 in the mail yesterday (08/26/2015).
So now we are down $500 more dollars, and we still haven't recuperated all of our losses from before.
Can't win for losing, I suppose.
I hate that I keep having to ask all of my friends, but I still need help. Thank you to everyone who has already donated. It has helped immensely. Without it we probably wouldn't have been able to help him.
If anyone can help, here is the link to my GoFundMe.

State of the Otter- Birthday, MFM, and life in general.
Posted 10 years agoWell, things are kinda getting back to normal here.
The tires have been changed and aligned, the windshield has been replaced, and we are both getting back into our normal work schedules.
We are still way in debt, but I am so very glad to have some friends who have helped us out in one of the worst time in our lives, and I thank you all.
I know it seems stupid to plan to go to MFM when we are so tight on funds, but I am on staff and have events that the con is depending on me to do. Yes, I have a second in command, and I trust him with my life, and I know that he would do a wonderful job, but it would not be fair to him to suddenly lump all of the pressure and responsibility on him.
I am going to save money by carpooling to the con, and staying in a room with 3-4 other people in it, so that will help.
But the issue right now is that the people who I was planning on carpooling with, they may not be able to go. And to be honest, if they don't go, there are only literally only a handful of people that I would hang out with at the con. It makes me going a lot less likely. It may not be cost feasible to go for so few people. It has me quite stressed to be honest.
Right now I am starting my prep to go to MFM, doing laundry, brushing out the ole fursuit, with the assumption that I am going, but it may be a last minute decision. which sucks.
On another note, my birthday is in 2 days. I will stop being in my 30's and go over the hill. *Sigh* I know its just a number but it just seems like more to me. I don't really want to leave my 30's behind. I don't want to get older.. But of course time marches on and so do it.
We really have no plans for my birthday, prolly a decent dinner or something. Part of me doesn't want it to be a big deal, but the other kinda selfish part of me wishes we could do a little something more. But that isn't gonna happen.
So that is the state of the otter right about now.
Also, I am still running my GoFundMe to try to recoup some of my bills, if anyone would like to take a look and possibly help I will be forever in your debt. Thanks.

Stress...
Posted 10 years agoI was feeling really terrible all day yesterday.
I am beginning to think that it might have been sheer exhaustion from everything that has been going on.
We have both really been in a constant state of stress for last month, and in all honestly, really since February, and that is a long time to constantly be on edge.
The problem is that while there is one stress that is over, there is another that is affecting me, and I'll have to deal with it for about 3 more weeks.
Because of everything that is going on, we have been hemorrhaging money lately (and I am about to go get my windshield replaced, woo hoo, 300 more bucks)
I has already made all the arrangements to go to MFM, I am on staff, head of the fursuit games and parade, So it isn't like I am just going cause I want to go. Of course I want to go, but I also have responsibilities when I do go.
Right now, I am not sure that I am going to be able to go. I had planned on two friends of mine (which I will not name for their privacy) to come up, stay a day, and then we all drive to MFM.
The reason I wanted to do that is two fold. First off, our "new" car is 8 years old, has over 160K miles on it, and I am trusting it less lately to get us places safely. The second reason is that because of that I do not want to drive 8.5 hours by myself, That means I either need to find a ride or shell out $150 for a bus ride that will take like 15 hours (which means I have to pack very minimally)
My friends are having major money issues of their own and they aren't sure that they can go. If the cant go, then that gives me much less reason to go, and puts a monkey wrench in how I will get there. And the other side of it is if they CAN go, I will of course have to help with gas and staying in their room will cost a lot more than a normal con, and that is money I don't have.
There are other options. Another local friend is going and I could catch a ride with him, of course still helping with gas, but the only problem is that since I am staff I kinda need to be there early Thursday and he wont get there till late Thursday, and I kinda have an event I'm staffing Thursday evening.
There is also another friend who has offered a bed, though since I'd be in bed with someone I dunno I'd prolly take the floor. Its just a little quirk of mine, don't like to sleep i a bed with strangers. So that could help as well.
So there are options, but right now if my two friends don;t go, there is really only one or two people I'd wanna see, I'd have a fairly miserable time there without those two people. I am desperately trying to find a way to get them there, and that is causing them and me a whole lot of stress... They have had such a hard last couple of years.. They deserve a weekend off to forget their troubles and have fun and hang out with friends. They are staff as well and also needed at the con, and I want so badly to try to get them there, more for their happiness than mine. This will be the only con they get to this year. They couldn't even get to a LOCAL con because of monetary issues, which really sucks. All the more reason that I know they'd love to go to MFM.
Also, I am still running my GoFundMe to try to recoup some of my bills, if anyone would like to take a look and possibly help I will be forever in your debt. Thanks.

More money and GoFundMe updates. and PWYW commissions
Posted 10 years agoYesterday, we went to Firestone. We replaced the 4 tires and got an alignment.
The total bill was just over $380.
We have an appointment to get our glass replaced on Monday 08/10/2015 with Safelite.
With tax it is going to be about $315.
I really really appreciate everyone who has helped us with our GoFundMe account so far.
I would really appreciate all my friends continuing to spread the word.
Even if we only get enough help for the2 car issues, we still need to raise almost $700 just to cover those two costs.
Here is the link if anyone would like to help: http://www.gofundme.com/9h3u2pnn8
Also, I am open for commissions, as well as Pay What You Want commissions. If you would like to donate and get a drawing out of it, then that would be greatly appreciated as well!!
Thank you all for helping us through this rough time.

Life and GoFundMe updates, and thanks
Posted 10 years agoSo, we are back from Pensacola.
It was a nice funeral. There were a lot of family and friends there. Lots os tears were shed of course, but there were laughs as well, remembering good times.
I always like visiting P'cola, but of course it was nice to get home, though I get the feeling that my fish didn't miss me, even if I missed him.
My GoFundMe is still live.
I am so happy that I have gotten $220 so far.
Just to let you guys know again why I am asking for $2700:
$2000 for the funeral
$400 for 4 new tires and an alignment
$300 for a new car windshield.
The funeral has been paid for, which severely depleted our savings.
The tires are the most desperate right now. The front passenger is about to start running on wires and the two back tires are wearing oddly because I am badly out of alignment, causing odd sounds.
We were scared to drive the 550 miles from P'cola to SC but we had no choice, and now we have to get those changes ASAP before something really bad happens.
The windshield crack is bad and on the passenger side but it isn't in the way of my driving as of now, so it is secondary to the tires.
Needless to say, the tired REALLY worry me, we NEED to get those done THIS WEEK if we can afford it.
I want to sincerely thank every single person who donated to me. I don't care if it is $5 or $100 or more, no matter what it is, it is going to be used to get the car fixed and recoup the costs from the funeral.
Even if you can't help monetarily, you can help by getting the word out on FA, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.
Thank you all, so co much for your help during these dark times.

In Pensacola.
Posted 10 years agoPaul's mom passed away at 10:30 PM CST last night.
So early this morning we got up and traveled back down to Pensacola. We made it here safe.
Had a lot of family here when we got in which was nice. Its pretty quiet here now, but I dont think anyone got much sleep last night so we will all probably hit the hay early.
Viewing is Tuesday Night and the funeral is Wednesday.
We will probably be here until Saturday or Sunday to get everything else in order.
I really appreciate everyone who has helped us through this time. We really appreciate it.
I still have the GoFundMe up to help pay for funeral costs. If we meet our goal, anything above the goal will go to his family to help them, as they are on a limited income.
