Hey fursuiters (especially fursuit makers) I NEED YOUR HELP
Posted 10 years agoHey guys.... I am on a big of a time crunch here..
I am going to FWA in about a month.. (ok, just over 5 weeks)... and I REALLY want to put a pair of glasses on Seaweed. I now wear glasses IRL and I want to reflect that on Seaweed as well.
But I really have no idea how to make decent looking glasses for her. I don't want something flimsy like foam, cause that will just look silly I think. I want them to look like decent glasses.
It would be nice if there was something on the inside of them for the lenses like clear plastic or something but I know that I am working on a short time period so that is less important.
My glasses are kinda rounded rectangle shape with fairly thick black frame. I'd love for them to look as close to my actual glasses as I can.
So I am asking for help here, Does anyone know how I can make a decent pair of fake glasses for my fursuit before FWA? Or is there someone who can do it for a decent price, as I am still recovering from owing money for taxes.
Even if you are not sure how to do it, please please breadcrumb for me, spread the word, I really wanna get this done before FWA! :)

Posted 10 years agoSo, today someone was selling some stuff to raise some money. They were saying that they had school debts and may be homeless in the fall. As a courtesy, I took a look, and as I usually do. I also took a look on their main page to get some information about them.
I thought it was interesting that they had it listed that they were going to 3 cons this year, including one that is about a month away.
This seemed odd to me, so I made a very innocent comment asking about that.
And.. of course, this set off all the white knights.
To be honest, it was odd that the OP and I were very civil. I never called anyone names or insulted anyone, but I got insulted and demeaned by the OP's "protectors".
Even the last comment I made was totally civil, and the OP responded civilly. I was only going to write "Ok, good luck" and I found that I was banned from commenting.
And that is of course when the white knights started getting very insulting. It wasn't even the OP. There were making insulting and false accusations against me.
I honestly do wish this person the best, though I dont think they are reading this.
And to the white knights? All I can say is LOL, you guys really made me laugh. Thanks for making my evening fun.

Posted 10 years agoSo.... we did our taxes today. And for the first time in the probably 20+ years that we have done taxes, we owed the federal government. We owed them $500 because Paul cashed in on a bunch of stock.
That is $500 I really didn't have to spare, plus only a week or two ago I sent out $400 to the in-laws to help with their car. I don't regret doing that, as they REALLY needed it, but we are hemorrhaging money right now.
I cant quit my plans for FWA in about 6 weeks because I promised people I would be there, I already have a ride and a room. Of course I will the 5th person in the room, and I bet they wont give out 5 keys, so I have no idea how I am gonna get in and out of the room. And being a fursuiter that's kinda important, so that is more stress that I don't need.
I already have enough stress dealing with the health of my mother- in-law. I am so fucking terrified that any day, any time now, I can get that call that is going to shatter Paul's world and there is not a fucking thing I can do about it. I am constantly on edge, Every text, every phone call, every IM makes me jump, I am worried that this is it..
And.. this fucking cough that I have had since Disney which just won't go away,and now it seems to be more of a wet cough, coughing up stuff. But can I afford to go to a clinic? NO.
I really just want to crawl back into bed., forget today ever happened, and pretend that this was all just a bad dream. But one look at my bank account and it reminds me that the nightmare is real.
Fuck my life.

But, really? over $8000 for a fursuit? And it isn't even your original character?
I understand that some furs have more money than sense, but come on.
You can get a GREAT suit from an EXCELLENT maker for 1/4 to 1/3rd of that price. And it would be your character.
You can pay less than that for a decent used car. Hell, my first car was right at 10K. It was 1 year old with only a few thousand miles on it.
It's a fursuit, an article of clothing you wear MAYBE twice a year.
I really don't get furries sometimes.. *shakes head*

Through the generosity of many, he has already raised some money, but he still needs over $250 before next weekend.

My Christmas!
Posted 10 years agoI had an awesome Christmas. The evening of the 24th was spent with my wuffy and my family, talking and drinking and eating and opening presents.
My main present from my family was an basic exercise bike that I got before Christmas. Also got gift cards, my yearly USC Gamecock tree ornament (a tradition for many years) and a gift card from Wal-Mart with a sticky note on it that says "THIS IS A CROCK POT". LOL. So we get to go pick out a Crock Pot in a few days after the holidays calm down.
After the family we went home and Paul and I exchanged gifts. He got me a 1600 piece set of basic Lego bricks, good for building, and I made a GIANT lego tower, about 3 feet high at least! Lego wise I also got a small Lego Movie vehicle AND ECTO-1!! The glider is already built, Ecto-1 willy prolly be built today or tomorrow.
Also got a couple of Disney Infinity 2.0 figures- Stitch and Malificent.
The cutest gift had to be hoodie monster pajamas. The tummy is fuzzy and its so cute, it makes me feel soooo cubby!!!
It was a great night.. I went to sleep early, I was a TIRED ott after all that.
In the morning, Santa had left me 2 more things.. A huge Snuffleupagus plush and Pokemon Omega Ruby!!!

Posted 11 years agoI was playing with my legos today, and I realized that I am sorely lacking in some of the most basic types of legos that help me build the spaceships that I love to make!
I made a list of some of the basics that I need (ideally I could spend hundreds, but this is the bare minimum).
Then I went to the Pick-A-Brick section of the Lego website and I made a shopping list of the legos that I need.
And.. then I realized that to get just ONE of each kind, it would be $8, and that doesn't include shipping.
To get enough for me to build with, it will be $40-50, and again that doesn't include shipping.
So... once again, I am going to offer my services. I am willing to draw pretty much anything to raise some money to get some Legos.
I tried a couple weeks ago to raise some money for for some padding, and not a single person was interested, so I'm hoping that people will be more willing to help me get some toys that I love.

I'm kinda happy that Italian was the highest, as I am very proudly half Italian (as in my dad was BORN in Italy). The only one I couldn't choose was dark hair/dark eyes. I have dark hair, but I got my mother's mother's blue eyes. (maybe that's some latent Irish blood?)
Im not really surprised that Irish was second, as my mom's family WAY far back are English/Irish.
I was kinda surprised that Austrailian, German, French, and Dutch were third with 5. Austrailian and Dutch are just kinda... HUH? At least French makes SOME sense as my dad's family was French, then emigrated to Italy A LONG time ago, and I married a man with German on BOTH sides of his family.

As much as I was lambasted on Twitter for giving an opinion, I want to take a moment here to say a few things.
I am sure that I will get a lot of negative responses to this, and I can only hope that my friends will take this with a grain of salt and not make any rash decisions based on what I say here.
Before I start, I want to say that I am sorry about to all the people who were injured or inconvenienced by this. It was not funny, it was not appropriate, and it was a terrible to to happen, and I hate that it had to potentially ruin people's con experiences, especially for the first time con goers.
So... here goes...
First off, people are saying it was a terrorist act.
Here is a definition.

What happened in Chicago fits none of these criteria. The only one it comes close to is #2, but in all honestly by the videos that have been posted, it looks like most people were either amused or slightly annoyed, not induced into a state of fear.
There was no coercing, no statement of political purposes, and no resistance of government.
By definition, it WAS NOT a terrorist attack.
As with anything that happens in the furry fandom, I have heard many rumors going around, someone had to be cut ot of thier fursuit, some people were throwing up blood, and others.
There HAS NOT BEEN ANY substantiating evidence of these things happening.
Yes, people were complaining of nausea and dizziness, and 19 people (there is no listing of if they were staff, con goers, or even other people in the hotel) were went to the hospital. From the newspaper articles that can be found online, 18 of the 19 were released the next morning. There is no information on whether the last person is still in the hospital or not as of this writing.
My thought is, that most likely it was one of two things:
1. It was a random person, either with a beef against furs or dogs (as there was apparently a dog show there as well according to newspaper reports) and they wanted to cause problems.
2. It was a fur or an ex fur who wanted to cause problems or thought it would "be funny" to cause problems at a con.
All I can ask is this.
PLEASE think before you write something or say something that you don't know to be true. Don't spread rumors, it only makes things worse.
If you have read this far, thank you very much for hearing what I had to say. After what happened on Twitter I felt like I needed to get out my thoughts in a manner that takes much more than 140 characters.
Please, if you are going to respond, do so in a constructive, adult manner. It is okay if you disagree with me. But leave insults and name calling out of it.

Incoming Picture Spam AKA Time for Seaweed's Christmas Pics!

Since I can't get most of my friends gifts, last year I decided to draw pictures for them. Sure, I am not a great artist, but I wanted to show my friends that I care for them and that I hope that they have a great holiday!

I'll be putting them up alphabetically and since I think there a limit to the amount of pictures I can post per day, it may take a couple of days to post them all.
I know that I was not able to draw for all of my friends, and if I was not able to draw you, then I am sorry. Unfortunately there is no way that I would be able to draw everyone that I would want to. I drew 14 last year, and did 20 this year.
