Back in 2022 I started a SubscribeStar page. It had a lot of promises and I didn't have the wherewithal to meet every perk, so I told people to unsubscribe and left it in the dust.

Several years and some changes later, I'm here promoting it again! With reasonable perks like discounts and early access, and a special deal for new subscribers for the remainder of July.

So I kind of disappeared for a few days and return with a big update that some people on Discord are already aware of.

My Dad's transplant finally happened! We were called in on Father's Day morning and his surgery began extremely early the next day (coincidentally, his birthday).

I'm extremely relieved to say that he has been recovering well - better than well, actually, it seems everything about this was just perfect.

The next year is going to be a little rough for him as it's important to make sure his body continues to accept his new liver, but the results are already being seen (he had always had a bit of brain fog but I guess the new liver is clearing out many of the toxins so he's less scatter brained).

So the past few days were me stuck in one set of clothes staying between a hospital and a hotel with my mom as we stressed out over all this, but here we are!

Huge thanks to everyone for their well wishes, prayers, kind words over all of this. It means the world to me!

Hi I'm back, and I'm trying to be more frequent with how often I take/complete commissions. I made a New Year's resolution to take them every month but I've been skirting by with sketch commissions I get on stream (that's over on Twitch (by the way, I stream there on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday usually but I'll also be streaming there tomorrow because it will be Bat Appreciation Day!).

Hey guys how's it going. Many of you may be aware of what I've been up to the last couple of months, or mainly what I've been doing last month.

October was my first Voretober that I took part in, doodling almost once a day and posting it over on my BlueSky, Twitter, and Discord. I'll be trickling them into the FA Gallery eventually in the coming week. I completed the prompts for 30 days out of 31 - an absolute win tbh given my tendency to be lazy up until then. I think Voretober was the push I needed to get me in a consistent mood to draw like I should be.

Last time I posted a journal I brought up the problems my Dad has and I have good news if you haven't seen it elsewhere: not long after that journal entry an examination found that the tumor had vanished - so we believe he is in remission. Since then he had one other indirectly related procedure and now we are simply waiting again, all is well. Thank you for the well wishes if you offered them, they meant more than you probably realize.

Stepping back - regarding my socials: as mentioned earlier I have been posting to Bluesky, Twitter, and my Discord. Nothing has changed from the links in the previously journal entry save one big difference now: my Twitter, thanks to Musk's bizarre blocking policy, is now private. I simply did not care for it. I finished out Voretober, but with my profile provated I don't really think I'll be sharing much over there any more. I really just have it to see memes every so often. With that said, I am doing my best to be very active on Bluesky, which has proven to be intuitive and not a pain to use unlike certain other alternatives.

So, with all that said, you can find me on BlueSky and my Discord server Cardinal Crossing. Twitter, as I said, is a little bit of an issue, but I'm @/LiliaSchadn over there. Mastodon I do not post on whatsoever lately - I kinda find the community to be kinda like THAT type of Linux user (you know the ones - "I'm having a Windows issue" "USE LINUX GET LINUX WHY ARE YOU USING WINDOWS 11 IN 2024"). But it's a good enough fallback so you can find me over there too.

I don't stream all too often save for on Discord (and usually then I kinda don't stream on my own if that makes sense), but when I do open OBS you can find me on either Twitch or Picarto.

What else... VRChat? I mean, kinda? I use it but I'm a desktop user - I need to save up a lot for computer upgrades and everything I need for VR (which happens to include prescription lenses so there's that complication as well). So you now know one thing I'm saving up for.

Anyway with Voretober done and anything blocking my motivation successfully dealt with for more than several weeks now, I am preemptively announcing that my commissions with me reopened this month! Keep your eyes open for the return of the Google Form.

Hey, I figured I would take the opportunity most people are taking after The Incident to also share some links and give a small life update that I've already informed some people of. Let's start with the life update:

As some people on my Discord (link below) will be aware, several months ago my dad began the process of being put on the liver transplant list - he has cirrhosis of the liver, a condition mostly alcoholics tend to get but he got from who-knows-where. 26 years ago he was basically told with the assumption that he was a regular drinker that he would have five years to be on the transplant list, but since he was NOT an alcoholic and never even drank this ended up not happening. By and large he's a very healthy man despite everything, however he has finally entered a new stage of of condition and its starting to rear its ugly head. When he consulted his doctor about on condition he had, the doctor indicated that the condition was undoubtedly linked to the cirrhosis and that it was likely time to start looking into getting on the transplant list, which he agreed and started the numerous checkups. During these checkups, the specialists discovered a lesion on his liver - confirmed to be liver cancer. This is expected with cirrhosis, and thankfully was caught early. They came up with a plan of action and as of last month he received his treatment. It's our hope that this treatment was enough to deal with the tumor, but there is one overarching fact: regardless of whether the tumor is completely killed, my dad will EVENTUALLY, it could be later this year, could be later NEXT year, will be told to come in for the transplant surgery.

I am not asking for money, our insurance is good. I am simply being open that I have a lot of responsibilities on my shoulders that will become doubled whenever we get that call. I'd like to thank everyone who has sent well wishes over this on my Discord and has been patient and understanding about it.

Those of you who keep an eye out for my work or word of it may have noticed I haven't been active in the wake of opening and completing some of my commissions. Those of you who are on my Discord will know the reason for this is a bit heartbreaking.

Last week my Dad had broached the subject with me on making a trip to Florida to see my Grandma for what may be the last time as she was declining in health. On Saturday however we were made aware that she had not gotten out of bed all day Friday and wasn't getting out of bed on that day as well. And more to the point she was asking to see her sons. We were going to make the trip n Monday but we determined it was an urgent enough reason to pack our things and IMMEDIATELY get on the road.

I got to see my Grandmother in person for the first time since before COVID, and also the last as she passed away on Tuesday afternoon.

As of writing this journal I have only just gotten back from the road trip over several states and back to handle things, and I'm absolutely drained. Emotionally I'm actually alright, hopefully - I was prepared for this day. However I'm physically exhausted as the trip down was 19-20 hours in itself but the trip back so close to labor day ended up being over 24 spent mostly sitting in a car with no sleep.

I'm going to rest for today, and tomorrow I'll see about working on some commissions and sorting what I've gotten.
