No advent sketches this year
Posted 12 years agoSorry to be the bearer of bad news to all of you who were hoping Sef would do the advent sketches again this year. For the past week she's been fairly under the weather, and in the past two days her health has begun to suffer to the point that it's unlikely she would be able to meet the time constraints that the advent sketches would impose. Regrettably, we've had to make the decision to call it off this year.
We may still do some less work-intensive sketchy stuff for Frisky Ferals that was planned to happen alongside the advent sketches, but even that may end up cancelled at this point. We'll have to wait and see.
Sorry, you guys. Hopefully next year. We may even try to do something similar at an earlier date, even though it won't be able to be Christmas themed.

Legal Jargon Interpretation Help?

I'm one of those people that doesn't skip over the agreements that come with websites, or programs. I'm not great with legal stuff by any means, but I think it's important to know what I'm getting in to, and agreeing to.
This one, though, has me scratching my head a bit. I was hoping to see if anyone had a different interpretation to this part of the agreement I'm reading:
4.4 Materials included with the Software. "Materials" means content, including without limitation, animations, characters, clothing, materials, meshes, props, textures, and similar files and data that included with or is otherwise used solely with the Software. Subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement and your payment of the applicable Software license fee, SmithMicro and Celsys grant to User a limited, personal, nontransferable (except as otherwise expressly set forth herein) and nonexclusive license (without the right to sublicense (except as expressly set forth herein) to reproduce, prepare derivative works based upon, distribute, publicly display, and publicly perform content you create using the Materials solely in conjunction with the Software in accordance with the Documentation and for lawful purposes.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, nothing shall limit SmithMicro's or Celsys' right to independently create, develop, own, market, distribute, license, sublicense, import, export, sell, or otherwise exploit any content or materials similar to any derivative works based upon the Materials.

Is that saying that if I use one of their "Materials", like a texture of theirs in a picture I'm making, that they can exploit, sell, etc, that picture I just made? Posted 12 years agoJust a quick thank you for everyone's response to the last journal. The responses were really interesting to hear! I apologize for not responding to everyone; I'm terrible at that type of thing and often lose track of time.. and once a week has gone by.. I just feel rude responding so late so I don't at all.
Next up, SOPA; Yes, they're doing it again. You can find the petition here: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pe.....-2013/LMzMVrQF
They're 3000 petitions away from the goal. Even if you don't sign, I think it's good to be aware of. I am super impressed by the fast response time this has gotten.
Some things to note: Piracy would become a felony under this version of SOPA. So if you stream a video with your LDRs, or sing a cover of a song and put it on youtube... that would mean you're going to jail.
I have my own views on piracy, but I think that a felony for the act of piracy is complete overkill and bullshit.
Lastly Manga Studio 5; Anyone used this and can give their opinion on it?
I've been wanting to purchase Photoshop CS6 for forever, but at this point it's just.. outside of my price range, and after having found out Adobe charges Australians approximately 41% more on their products for NO FUCKING REASON, that kind of lowered my opinion of them. Plus I am not a fan of the Creative Cloud direction they're taking.
I don't like "acquiring" products like this, in case anyone suggests that. I like to support a good product and a good company where I can, hence asking if anyone has used Manga Studio 5!

Essentially, I'm curious if anyone in this community utilizes tumblr for furry related stuff, or if they primarily stick to the main gallery based sites like FA, IB and SF.
I'm usually really hesitant about social networking sites (although tumblr seems a bit more self-orientated to me and less active networking), as I'm not a fan of being particularly social, but it's still a very interesting platform to spread information or items of interest.
Which is why I'm asking, as I've always found it fairly strenuous to find out about new projects in the community.
To answer my own question though; yes, I do use tumblr, and I use it to follow artists and webcomics I'd forget to check up on individually.

Posted 12 years agoIf there's one thing I love about this community it's the sheer amount of creativity in it. I honestly can't think of another fandom that produces and supports as much original work as this one.
So it goes without saying that I love seeing projects in the community come to life. Lately it feels like there haven't been as many projects as there have been in the past. It's understandable, but I thought maybe I just hadn't heard about them.

This'll be my first time in a Dealer's Den, and my second furry convention (The first being C-ACE, but I don't think I was even part of FA back then! It's been a while!). I'm really excited that western Canada is getting some convention action!
It's been a printing and burning marathon of madness here as I attempt to get ready. The prints are turning out stunningly, and I'm blown away by the quality. Hopefully others will think so as well!
If you're heading to VancouFur and hit up the Dealer's Den, stop by and say hello~! I should be at table 9 or 10 (I'm not quite sure which!).

Posted 14 years agoMaybe not just germs, but something is very responsible for my radio silence for which I apologize for. I've been down and out with a variety of illnesses that decided they wanted to manifest inside my delicious, delicious guts*.
While the kryptonite for said invaders isn't exactly all flowers and bunnies, it's still a significant step up from where I was.
TL;DR updates a comin'. Although they may not all be seen D=.
As an aside, and while it may be late in saying so, the Reindeer Raffle won't be taking place this year. It was something I was really looking forward to, but circumstances, illnesses and just all around poor timing didn't get it to happen this year. I'll be doing my best to make it happen next year, though!
Apologies in advance for any groggy medicated jargon I spew in the next couple of days that is nonsensical.
*guts are not actually delicious.

What's this mean?! It means charges will be happening to credit cards within the next 72 hours as mentioned by PatchTogether in an e-mail sent out to those who made a purchase. Please double check your spam folders in case you can't see yours!
If shipping address or credit card needs to be changed, information is supplied in this e-mail on how to go about doing that! And it is best to do it now!
We would have loved to give you guys more notice, but it's been a bit of silent ride for us as much as everyone else. So, we're doing our best to let people know now!
Estimated shipping times from what we were told were between 2 weeks to possibly even 2 months after charges to credit cards have occurred.

I'm still, very slowly, slugging away on the Brynne Comic. Thank you everyone for the fantastic feedback! We've definitely got a better idea of what you guys like, and hopefully can get out some more interesting stuff that you'll like ;).
As far as the actual comic goes, I'm almost done my second draft. I'm a bit picky I'm afraid, though, and will want to do a third draft before the final draft, as well as going back and tweaking some more story orientated elements on the second draft. Least to say I've got my work cut out for me!

The black and white female pin-up portfolio I've also been working on is also almost finished! We've also contacted PatchTogether, and have been told that the Felix Fenra Figurines will be shipped in approximately a week's time! Shipping is by boat, as I understand it, so may still take some time to get over here along with any potential customs delays. Fingers crossed, though, that it'll be a smooth and easy process ;)!

Brynne
I'm still, very slowly, slugging away on the Brynne Comic. Thank you everyone for the fantastic feedback! We've definitely got a better idea of what you guys like, and hopefully can get out some more interesting stuff that you'll like ;).
As far as the actual comic goes, I'm almost done my second draft. I'm a bit picky I'm afraid, though, and will want to do a third draft before the final draft, as well as going back and tweaking some more story orientated elements on the second draft. Least to say I've got my work cut out for me!

The black and white female pin-up portfolio I've also been working on is also almost finished! Hopefully some of you had had a chance to sneak a peek at the Hump Day Sketches to get an idea of what it'll include! There will be a more detailed journal entry in regards to this as I finish up the last bits and pieces of this before release =)!

[Feedback] Fenra Merchandise? Please take our Poll~!

We're looking for feedback once again; this time on the Fenra! We'd like to know who you guys would be most interested in purchasing stuff of, as we've been playing with the idea of getting some stuff made. The only limitation with that is that it's expensive and almost always comes in bulk!
So, we need to know if we would be able to afford offering some of the things in our poll list. This will depend almost entirely upon what, if anything, you guys are interested in buying! We're currently looking mostly at smaller things because of limited capital. Although we'd love to make plushes, they're a bit out of our price range right now for the quality we'd like. We are researching ways to make plushes a reality, though. (I might have to break out a needle and thread... there would be blood!!).
We'd really appreciate the feedback, as I've never been to conventions up to date and have this belief that I'd need several VISAs or the like just to sell at a US based convention (not being from the States myself). So, selling off extras at Cons isn't a reassurance for us. (I should probably pester some of the awesome Canadian artists on here who have gone though! I am ill-informed!).

[Feedback] Brynne Comic? Please take our Poll =O!

Hopefully you guys have had a chance to see the recent Brynne uploads. She is our yellow-footed rock-wallaby gal! While she's been on the back burner for a while, so has a comic we've been roughing with her.
The inaugural comic is NC oriented, and would be about 35 pages long. Thing is, we just don't know if there's any interest in that type of thing! Brynne is not the luckiest wallaby around. She tends to find herself in all manner of non-consensual sexual situations. She'll always bounce back from her harrowing encounters, but it's important to note that the series will be rape-themed from start to finish. The comic that is in the works features a shapeshifting, visage-snatching tentacle monster, and every comic after will involve some sort of supernatural creature or scenario and Brynne getting the short end of the stick. We don't want to slack any part of this, though, and really need to know if it's worthwhile pouring hours of work into this, or if it's just not something interesting at all for you watchers!
If you guys can spare a minute or two and fill in our poll to tell us if this is something you'd be interested in buying, we'd appreciate the feedback =)!

Animated Tron Light Cycle Icons

I'MMA RUN YOU OFF THE GRID, OTTERFACE D8<!
So in my longing for the movie, I made otterface and myself some animated light cycle icons. I thought I'd ask if anyone else was interested in one before the file gets lost somewhere in mess that is my computer (absorbed by the Master Control D=?! I dunno, I haven't seen the new movie yet XD).
They're $12, unless you have some crazy horns/something that sticks out weirdly/additional stuff, then probably a little bit more. If you're interested please e-mail me with references of your characters face, and what colour you'd like your markings. Dirty Dog T-Shirts
Posted 15 years agoThese playful pooches are burying their bones, but maybe they could use some help? I'm sure they'd appreciate it ;)
Last night, I was finishing up some designs I really enjoyed drawing, and once they were finished otterface and I decided that they would look great on a t-shirt. So, that's just what I did!
There's two designs so far, a doberman and a siberian husky, but the husky also comes in a pink =O. All three frisky critters come slathered in innuendo, but you have the choice of getting them with or without the text depending on just how blatant you want your Dirty Dogs to be!
If anyone is interested in snagging some of these risqué canine t-shirts for themselves, you can find them up for sale at MySoti!:
I'd love to do more of these, as I really just enjoyed drawing them XD.
