Request for help keeping furs in their home
Posted 5 years agoThese are difficult times (unless you're, say, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk or Warren Buffett). Money is tight, everyone's scared. Yet when I see a goodfur on here begging for help because of circumstances beyond their control, and being afraid -- at this time, purportedly of good cheer and kindness to and compassion for others -- of being out on the street, I can't be silent. I won't be.

Upcoming live RPG stream for charity!
Posted 5 years agoHullo all,
I've been asked by a dear friend if I'd publicise a for-charity, live RPG stream that's coming up soon. For those of you who are fantasy buffs, one of the players will be veteran writer Mercedes Lackey. The artist Larry Dixon will also be taking part. I think this is going to be an absolute scream.

If you know anyone who might be interested, please pass the word on. These are splendid and awesome folks, and it's for charity. I know it's a bad time, but it's for the World Central Kitchen, who are currently risking life and limb to keep as many people as possible fed.
I hope that you and yours are all staying safe, and well.

Why I stopped writing
Posted 7 years agoA while ago, I stopped writing; a while later I disabled this account. The two are not unconnected.
Depression is a swine. I'm there right now. I have no desire for to do anything, no passion, no drive. This is despite having met the most wonderful wolf, whom I love with all my heart and who fills my days with joy and earthly delights. Yup, depression is still kicking my scaly butt and I suspect long will be.
Anxiety is also a swine. The belief that anything you do will be - may be - almost certainly could be - completely wrong, that it will cause major trouble and utter chaos, binds one up tight in a strait-jacket of inaction.
And, also... I just didn't think I had anything to say that anyone would want to read.
Look, we all know that the only writers who do well in the fandom are Kyell Gold and the porn writers. (Tautology, there, I know.) And, you know what? Good luck to them. I find it difficult to write porn. Maybe because I don't like sex that much anyway; who knows.
Still, I came to the belief that nothing I had to say was different, or novel, or interesting to anyone. Not that I lack for ideas. Teddy Ventnor and Cicero Drake have had many adventures since we last saw them, Kesha and Heth have had a love-hate-screw relationship across half of the Fourth Octant, Joseph and Jim have moved again with Jim's promotion, Korestai has married a human named Seth and their P.A. and factotum Kathlyn, the most eligible bachelor lynx on the East Side of Midtown Green, is -- gasp -- engaged... Oh no, it's not for lack of ideas. (Let's not forget Edwin and Malachi, or Jeremy and Welkin, or the gorgeous Chocolate 'Milk' Bayou, transgender secret agent bunny extraordinaire...)
No. I just stopped because I looked at everything that was being written and I thought, "What's the point?"
So there we are. I'm still alive. I'm dating and I'm very much in love. Big changes are coming up in my life. It's very exciting. But I'm not writing any more.
