Moved to Germany
Posted 6 years agoRawrrrrr! Hello everyone!
Well it's finally official, I am here in Munich, Germany! Got my dragon ass yeated out of America thanks yours truly, Czero. Now I am a German derg butt, and I can make fun of people in the USA for dealing with Trump and having far inferior beer.
We are living together in our own apartment. It's kinda small and cramped for two dragons, but we will find somewhere bigger soon enough. Right now, we're sorta focusing on dealing with the German migration office, and not letting them fuck us over too much like they have already. I almost got kicked out of here since they would not let me have an appointment to get my Blue Card. Luckily, my head hunter was boss and shit on them real hard, forced them to give me an appointment so I didn't have to wait until April. Damn, it would have sucked if it weren't for him! If you're ever looking for a job, and you're going through a headhunter, I totally recommend Hays. My headhunter has been extremely helpful through this whole process, almost like a personal lawyer.
Anyways, I finally feel like I am getting situated here. We built a desk so I can actually use my laptop properly. I am learning German, but I am still very far from being able to participate in normal conversation. That should hopefully change over the coming months.
Think that is it for now! Thanks for reading!

Starting a new chapter
Posted 6 years agoRawr! Hello everyone!
I had a really great time with my boyfriend Czero in Germany. We got to do so many fun things together, and we have made so many fond memories. Some of the highlights of our stay together were attending BFD 9 (Bavarian Fur Dance 9), which was in Nuremberg, going to Italy and visiting GlowingSpirit, and finally attending the EAST furry convention in Suhl.
Visiting Nuremberg was great because we got to see a lot of historical sights as well as party with a bunch of German furries! They sure know how to have a good time. Then in Italy, GlowingSpirit did a wonderful job showing us around certain parts of Italy. We got to see Verona, Lake Garda, Sirmione, Mount Baldo, and several other lovely places! Finally for EAST, we drove up to Suhl where we had a nice relaxing time with all the furries there, enjoying the convention greatly.
Aside from this, just simply spending time was Czero was great. We got to play through almost the entirety of Zelda Breath of the Wild, including finding all the shrines and getting pretty much all the best armor. I also watched Rick and Morty with him, so now I am caught up with that! Plus I got a good taste for what it's like to live in Germany, and it's certainly much different. The most important thing is that I learn the German language, and I've been practicing a whole lot with that.
Unfortunately, the summer wasn't all just fun and excitement. I had several losses to contend with, but I have already come to terms with it. My grandmother from my dad's side of the family passed away and so did my grandfather from my mom's side of the family. In addition, one of my cats passed away and another cat went missing, presumably eaten by a coyote. It certainly feels a lot different, and I have a new perspective on life. Us humans only have finite time on this world, so we should cherish every moment we spend together, and we should make an effort to show compassion to those we love.
At some point, Czero and I want to move in with each other, and I am hoping to eventually find a job in Munich so it will be possible. But for now, I have started my first full time job ever! I am currently working as a Software Engineer in downtown Chicago. It's kinda exciting working in the big city as most of my life, I always stayed in the suburbs, only visiting the city on occasion. It's neat having a taste of the city life, and so far I am loving my job. Everyone is really nice and the work there is fun and interesting. I am already excited to go back! The only thing that would make it better would be to shorten my commute which is currently 90 minutes. However it isn't too bad considering most of the time I can simply relax on the train.
Anyways, just wanted to let you all know how everything is going. Thanks for reading!

Graduated university!
Posted 6 years agoHello everyone!
The last several months have been pretty action-packed with lots of stuff going on. I was very busy, and I did not have much time to get on FA and things of that nature. But now things are starting to wind down a bit, and I wanted to give a little update on how things are going for me. The most important accomplishment I wanted to share was that I graduated university at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign! I graduated with two degrees: a Bachelors of Science in Statistics & Computer Science and a Bachelors of Arts in Music Technology. I am so glad that it is finally over.
Gosh it feels like a lifetime since I started my college career as a freshman, and it is crazy how much I have changed too. I remember freshman year, I was still super new to the furry fandom, I was timid and shy, and I did not know many furries or dragons either. Over the last four years though, I've definitely grown a lot through all the triumphs and hardships. I feel like nowadays I am a much more open person, and I am excited to go out and participate in the fandom and meet other furries and dragons. I am planning on getting myself a fursuit as soon as I can, so definitely keep an eye out on that hehe~
I also feel a lot smarter too! I remember my freshman year, I wanted to program a software synthesizer, but I no idea how to do it. I had hardly any experience with programming, not to mention the audio computing concepts necessary to actually program it in the first place. Fast forward several years and for my senior music technology project, I coded a wavetable software synthesizer VST plugin. It works pretty well and can make some really cool sounds. If anyone is interested, I can share a copy for you to use in your favorite DAW.
When it comes to music, I have definitely changed a lot too. Four years ago, I was really into producing electronic music; however, I sorta started losing interest in that once I began doing commissions. I found doing music for video games and such more exciting! After all, it was the movie soundtrack for HTTYD that got me into making music in the first place, so it makes sense why I gravitated towards that instead. I've also become very interested in jazz music. I love the rich harmonies and expression. As a result of this, I've found myself improvising and playing lots of jazz music on the piano! It's definitely a lot of fun. I plan to start writing some more music this summer. I cannot wait because it's been a while since I've had time to focus on music making.
One of the biggest things I wanted to mention though is that this summer, I am going to be living with my boyfriend, Czero, in Germany! We are going to have a wonderful time together I am sure. I am so happy I got to meet him and become so close. He's such a sweetheart for taking me in, and soon enough, I hope to move to Germany so we can live together permanently. While there I will be focusing on music projects, programming projects, and looking for possible jobs! However, in August, I have a job lined up in Chicago. I will be doing software development of course, and I will have a nice view of Millennium Park from a big skyscraper. Should be interesting!
Anyways, I think that should wrap things up for now. It's kinda fun to just type away at all this stuff, but rather not rant too long! Feel free to leave some comments or questions if you want to know more. Also I am available on Telegram and Discord, so don't be afraid to message me. Thanks a bunch for reading <3

500 watchers! Thank you!
Posted 7 years agoHello everyone!
I just noticed I've reached 500 watchers. I don't know why, but I feel like it's pretty neat that so many people have found some sort of interest in watching me, whether it be for my music, my artwork, my commissions, or maybe just my personality. I want to thank you all so much too, and I want to express my appreciation as it makes me pretty happy. I'm not sure exactly what I've done to deserve this really; I don't think I've really done much for anyone, or that I've really have contributed all that much. I'd really love to get more involved, but life keeps pretty busy!
Anyways, I wanted to also leave a little update here too while I am at it. Currently, I just finished my third year in university, which means only one more left! Also this summer, I am interning at Schlumberger in Houston, Texas. I flew in last Sunday, and the last two days have been orientation. I've got to meet a lot of cool people from all over the world, and I also get to hang out with my friend Avimus who's also interning here with me. I couldn't be more happy with this situation! Looking forward to this summer a lot. I am also planning to go to AC as well, which will be a first for me! Once the summer is over, it will be back to school though.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a great day or night ^.=.^ rawr!

Furaffinity Image Sorter ***Now downloads artwork too!***
Posted 7 years agoHello everyone!
A few months ago, I posted a journal describing how I created a little program that could sort all the images you download from FA by artist name. Well after a bunch more work, I am now happy to say that the Furaffinity Image Sorter will now also download artwork from Furaffinity, and then it will automatically sort the artwork into folders on your computer.
I have asked several people to test the program for me, and I have been finding all sorts of bugs and problems. One such issue is that on Windows, if you have a different scaling factor set, some GUI elements will not display properly. It is recommended to have your scaling set to 100% when trying to use the application. In addition, you must be using the Beta theme/format on your Furaffinity account, since I wrote the code to work around that theme. I might later write the code so it will work for both themes.
Anyways, if you'd like to give the program a try, all you have to do is download the application from my GitHub. There is a helpful description of how the program works, and there is also a set of instructions on how to set up the application for use on your computer. If you do give the program a try, please let me know how it goes, if things were successful, or you if you ran into problems!

Happy downloading and sorting!

Furaffinity Image Sorter
Posted 8 years agoHello everyone!
So yesterday, I was feeling kinda adventurous, and I decided to create a little program that could sort all the images you download from FA by artist name! Not sure how useful it might be, but it was just a fun little project.
It's really simple to use, you just specify what folder(s) you want to the program to sort, then you specify where you want it to output the sorted images to, and finally, you press sort! A new folder will be created for each artist, and all the artwork belonging to that artist will be placed inside the folder. What's great is that you can run it multiple times! It will only copy over new content to the output, so for example, you download a bunch of artwork, but you just want it sorted to the right place really quick, simply run the program, and it will copy only images that have not been sorted. I also made a feature where it will copy all images that it could not sort into an unsorted folder. That way, you would not have to manually search through which images were sorted and which images were not.
I have uploaded all the code and the program with instructions on how to use it. Feel free to download and try it out, as I have not had many people test it yet. I have tested it myself though, and it could sort through thousands of images on my computer in just a few seconds. Here is the link: https://github.com/Seledrex/Furaffi.....y_Image_Sorter
I think it would be fun to add some more features too, like an ability to download all submissions currently on your FA, or to download all images that are in your favorites. And of course, after it would finish downloading, it would sort them for you! I think that might be a bit more challenging, so maybe in the future when I have some more time I could do that.
Anyways, feel free to let me know what you think, and also let me know if you find any bugs, or if you have suggestions to improve it.

Going to IFC 2017
Posted 8 years agoI am going to IFC 2017! I can't wait, it is going to be very fun! I went last year with two close friends, but this year I will be going with two new friends! It will be their first con, so I'm going to show them the ropes. They are both very excited ^.=.^
I wanted to see if anyone else is going to IFC, and if so, I would love to arrange a meetup. I don't get to meet many of you often, but furcons provide a great opportunity for this.
I will be wearing my red tail to the con, and maybe my dragon hat and red coat. I will be very red essentially xD If you see me at the con, don't hesitate to stop and chat.
Anyways, thanks for reading! Does anyone else have con plans in the future? And does not have to specific to IFC!

I have returned!
Posted 8 years agoSorry for disappearing from FA! I got really caught up with the end of school, and now I've been working full time as an Associate Software Engineer for a telecommunications company called Amdocs.
I am planning to be a little more active now, like actually responding to comments, shouts, favorites, watches; and I also plan on uploading lots of artwork!
Let's just hope this goes to plan... I am pretty lazy with social media stuff, but I really like it here, and I am missing out on so much artwork! Trying to plow through all 10,000 submissions that I have missed, and I always favorite the ones that I like the most!
Really don't know if anyone is going to read this, but feel free to leave a comment to tell me how you're doing! ^.=.^

Back to school update!
Posted 9 years agoHello everyone!
I wanted to give an update on how things are going for me. I am currently back in school right now, and it's just starting the third week. I am really loving it here; I am just so happy to be back in school. My classes here are fantastic. I am taking a computer science and a statistics course, along with four music courses. It's going to be an exciting year, and already things are going very well!
Last week I was lucky enough to go to IFC (Indy Fur Con). I had a really fun time with two of my dragon pals, Aquilla Whitegate and Ra-Meil. I might post some pictures if you guys are interested, but I did not take too many photos. Also, I commissioned a badge from the fantastic artist Sleepersharks! I can't wait for it to be finished, and I will be sure to upload the art here when it's done.
In addition, I am happy to say that my music commissions have been doing fairly well. I would like to thank Nomads of Korsun and Jasonafex for commissioning me this summer, and I am hoping to work more for both of you in the future! As you may have noticed, I have created a Trello page to show the progress of my music commissions. I am hoping that I will gain some more exposure soon, and that people here on FA will commission me for more music.
This has been rather brief, but if you are interested in chatting with me more, just hit me up on Telegram! Look up Seledrex and you should find me easily.
Thanks for reading,

Artist Bio
Posted 9 years agoI am an aspiring artist and music producer. I'm new to the community, and I'm very interested in meeting new people! To introduce myself a little bit more personally, I would like to let you get to know me by telling you how I've become an artist, and why I've decided to come here. I know it's a bit long, but hey, its got to be said somewhere right?
I first started loving dragons when I saw the movie How To Train Your Dragon a few years ago. Ever since then, my life went for a huge spin. I first began creating fan artwork in my free time, and I also attempted to learn how to use 3D software such as Autodesk Maya (though I gave up on this pretty quickly). I decided to stick to my path as an artist, and I continued drawing art. Not only did the movie inspire me to draw, but it also inspired me to compose music because of its amazing soundtrack. At the time, I knew a bit of piano, but as a kid I hated practicing. The inspiration I obtained from watching the movie led me to enjoy practicing as I began to play piano arrangements from the movie's soundtrack. Many of the arrangements were too difficult for me to play unfortunately, but that didn't stop me.
I created my own arrangements based off the more difficult ones. After mastering my own versions, I switched to the more difficult ones and began to master those. I soon realized that my skill as a piano player and my understanding of music had increased tremendously. I could now play songs that I never thought I would be playing. But I didn't stop there.
I wanted to learn how to create my own music. So I began to compose on a website called Noteflight. Here, I composed my first scores, and I learned a lot about how music is made. I watched tutorials, read books, took classes, about music theory. While learning I experimented on the piano, and with practice I could then improvise on the piano with ease. High school then came. It was then during my first year when a friend of mine introduced me into the world of EDM. I loved the sounds, emotion, and drive that the genre contained, and I eagerly wanted to begin creating my own EDM. So I began my career as a music producer. Now one of the most important things an EDM producer needs a good a DJ name.
After much brainstorming, I chose SoundFu5ion. I decided on this name because I wanted to combine different kinds of sounds together, such as orchestral and electronic, to make interesting fusions of sound. I've since changed my name to Seledrex. Reason 5 was the first program I used to create EDM. I decided that I would switch to Ableton Live because Reason did not have VST support. It took me a while to get used to Ableton Live, but let me tell you, after making a few tracks in Ableton, I would never use any other program to create music! I eventually was able to build a studio in my basement,
You can find the music I create here ---> http://www.soundcloud.com/seledrex
Along with creating music, My interest in drawing also increased. I currently use a Wacom Bamboo drawing pad, Adobe Photoshop CS5, and PaintTool SAI. I love the beauty, emotion, and freedom that all dragons represent. Wanting to learn more about how to draw dragons, and also to view other artists' work, I came here.

Tools of my trade
Novation Impulse 61 MIDI keyboard,
Novation Launchpad,
Pair of Yamaha HS80M speakers
Scarlett 2i2 soundcard
Pair of Audio Technica headphones
Audio Technica AT2020 microphone.
The software I currently use includes Ableton Live 9 Suite, Komplete 10 Ultimate, East West Composer Cloud, and iZotope Ozone
I'm still learning how to become a better artist, and I would love to hear any advice or feedback you have on my work. I appreciate you reading about my entire artist career, and I am looking forward to meeting you!
