Back from AC
Posted 13 years ago*inchworms her way into the internet* OMG I will never say anything bad about the Westin ever again. We staid at the Omni this year and I could NOT keep going back and forth between the hotel and convention center. My back was killing me the whole time and I finally broke down and bought a cane. Westin oh my sweet "no we will not give you any amenities" Westin. I will never forsake you for another hotel, or complain about waiting for elevators ever again.
I had the time of my life this con. Thank you to everyone. Especially to BrillWolf who made sure that I was cared for and safe at all times.

Posted 13 years agoThese are the two types of assassin guilds in Blood and Shadow. Not the only two, just the two TYPES.
Shadow Clans
Original assassin guilds.
Are rumored to be members of a single family.
Are called shadow for their ability to meld into the shadows.
Members of the shadow won't be expelled from the shadows when light is shined on them.
The clans only job is to kill other assassins, or troublesome members of the merc clans.
Clan elders are retired assassins.
Is rumored in some parts to kidnap children and turn them into assassins.
Merc Clans
Splintered from Shadow Clans a generations ago.
Are not related by blood.
Clan elder is a title more then the leader being a person of old age.
Elders are forbidden from participating in any fights involving persons outside of a guild/clan.
Do jobs ranging from spying to assassinations.
Jobs are divided based on danger level and pay. Purple being the lowest and most easy jobs, while red and black are the highest. Black being assassination jobs.
The clan places it's members in hotels and apartments around the city. These locations are top secret, and protects the clan from losing it's members in a singular pin pointed attack.

AC and fursuit
Posted 13 years agoGot my AC trip nearly ready. I have to book the plane ticket home, and everything will be complete. A friend of mine has everything in order on their tripit. There will be nearly 5 of us meeting at the airport, riding the bus to the hotel, and staying in the hotel. I've been promised a bed due to my back issues. I love my friends so much. I don't say it nearly enough.
Speaking of how wonderful my friends are. My buddy BrillWolf put in a good word for me to the guys at Critter Factory. He let them know of my issue with the previous "fursuit maker," and told them to expect an email from me. So on Thursday I shot one off to them giving them the details of what happened. They gave me an amazing quote for a body suit and feet paws. I was expecting a much bigger bill, and by bigger I mean a couple hundred dollars bigger.
I will be bringing my partial to AC which is just the minimal hand paws, head, and tail.
If I had the money I would have the new suit in time. These guys are so good that they can make a full suit in one day, or so I have heard, and have it shipped out. Unfortunately it would take a whole pay check to pay for the suit, and I just can't spare the change right now. I did ask about paying them $100 each month after the con, but I have to wait till Monday to hear back from them.
From the email response: "if you go with us, you will get your suit in under a month. You will be able to contact us directly via my personal cell phone. You also have the assurance of 8 years of combined experience in costume making. A lifetime worth of support for your body suit."
As if I would go with anyone else after such a wonderful quote and customer care! They even offered to make the DTD for me if I could head over to their shop! I am falling in love with the workers at The Critter Factory.
The only downside is that they are going to try to get the materials from my old fursuit maker to help drive down the price. I wish them luck, but I know it isn't going to happen. I tried doing that myself once, and it nearly started a fight. So I am fine with paying for the materials if they can't get what they need from her. They seem to be super nice, professional, and are prepared to go that extra mile, which is what I was missing the first go round.

Generally I am not one for jumping on bandwagons of any kind. I like to do things my way, but right now I am jumping on one that is very important to me.
Last year was my very first AC (anthrocon), and my first time in Pittsburgh. It was my second furry convention, and my mother's very first one. I knew that the convention itself would be a wonderful thing for my mom to experience. I rarely thought of anything outside of the convention.
I like so many regular con goers did not think about getting food to sustain myself throughout my convention stay. My mother on the other hand was animent that we get food. Our first few days at the convention hotel we wandered out to the corner shops, and stores across the street. We'd get a small bite, or buy snacks to take back to the hotel room with us (root beer BAWLS and gummie worms FTW.)
The day before my boy friend was to fly in my mom and I wandered around the corner from the little shops we had been frequenting. We had grown a little tired of snack food at that point. There we saw a small crowd of furries and other people at a building a ways down the street. We wondered what could be down there that was so interesting. Curiosity got the better of both of us and we walked over to see.
The first thing I noticed was a sign in the window that read "FURnado's." My mom commented on how awesome that was while I giggled and squealed at the pun. I had heard that a lot of businesses catered to the fandom when the convention was in town, but I did not know they went that far. We went into the little deli style shop. It was packed with furries! Some I knew others I did not. I still can't remember what I ordered, I only know that it was good. We sat next to some unknown furs, and by the end of the meal we were all joking and having a good time.
The next day once my boy friend was in town we spent our time getting him settled in, and showing him around a bit. By the time evening had rolled around we were famished. My mom mentioned going back to that little deli place that was down the street (Fernando's.) I agreed, and very excitedly dragged my boy friend down the the street. The whole time I mentioned how great the place was. The food was top notch for a deli of that size, and the comradory was even better. We went in, I ordered the same thing as before, mom bought me a t-shirt, and sure enough we had an amazing time meeting people there. From that point on Fernando's had become a staple of our convention diet.
I was very sad to hear a few months ago that Fernado's was going under. The economy had finally taken it's toll on the small business. My mom even heard the news, I had tried to keep it from her, and was near tears when she read up on the situation.
When I found out about the drive to keep Fernando's open, even if just for another year, I was relieved. The goal was to raise $10,000, just enough to keep the cafe afloat. At this point in time the money raised to keep Furnando's alive has nearly doubled from it's original 10k mark! Even people who have never been to Pittsburgh for the convention are donating! We want to keep this place going for as long as we can so that future AC furrs can still enjoy the staple food of the AC convention. We may not be able to save the economy, but we can pull together to save a business, and some jobs.
Lets do what we can to keep this business going strong!

No More Art
Posted 13 years agoI will no longer be posting artwork or stories to FA. The site is so broke in so many different ways, and the admin team's view of "if you don't like it just leave," is less then acceptable. How about you grow the fuck up, admit to your mistakes, and try to fix things? No, it would be so much easier to sit in the dark and bitch then to put an effort into a sinking ship.
At least I agree with you on one thing admins, we need to just leave. We need to let this site dwindle and die. Then the admins with "our site," will have nothing but that. Their empty little site where only they can circle jerk each other.

How the hell am I supposed to feel about this?
Posted 14 years agoAfter posting that last piece of my art last night I was feeling pretty lousy. I worked so hard on it. I spent hours switching back and forth between SAI and Photoshop to add details here and there.
Today on SF I get a comment on one of my journals. The poster boasted about how my art touched them and made them think. It made me feel so much better to hear that somebody actually appreciated what I do. They mention a piece that they really liked and my mind raced trying to think of which one of my pictures that was. They also supplied a link and when I clicked it. Not only was it a beautifully sketched image it was also not mine...-_- Now I feel even lower then ever about my art.
I hate this, artist that piss and moan about their art enrages me more then anything and yet here I am doing it myself. FML

Getting back to living
Posted 14 years agoFor me there is nothing better then being in a skype call with my furry bros. watching stupid youtube videos, cracking jokes, and talking about plain old stupidity.
I got something special in the mail the day I got out of the hospital last week. A fursuit resin head from Draconiknight. It was supposed to be for my sugar glider, but it looks far too canid. So I am thinking of making it into a fox. I also want to tear apart the head I originally made for Marine and try to make it a Preza suit head.
It's amazing what I lust for life you get after a suicide attempt.

She is going to have a light blue body (a little darker the Rainbow Dash's color), two tone pink to red tail and mane, and yellow eyes. Get the color scheme yet? Her cutie mark is going to be a paint brush painting a rainbow circle. The name is going to be Doodle Pop.
Our Car is Evil
Posted 14 years agoSo on the way home from a friend's house we drive past a house that had caught fire between the time my mom left the house and the time we came back. There was a fire truck to one side and the family was all huddled out front. Over the radio I hear "Burn baby burn! Disco inferno! Burn baby burn!" I start yelling at the car, "that's not funny!" ...Now I think our car is evil and runs off of irony. I'm going to call it Brimstone from now on.

Posted 14 years agoWhile heading out to breakfast, at Pot Belly's, yesterday mom and I came across a house for rent on the other side of Interbay. After breakfast we stopped back by the house, looked it over, and gave the number a call. The gentleman set up an appointment to show us the house later in the day.
Around 3pm we met the man and he showed us the house. It is a 3/bed 1/bath, trazzatine floors throughout, a nice sized living room, a bigger bath (with a TUB) then we have now, and a soft water filter. There is also a quirk to this house that I love. It has two front doors. Not together, separate front doors! *giggles*
It still needs some work according to the renter. He will have an electrtsion fix some of the wiring, and the roof of the car port has some water damage he wants to fix.

Posted 14 years agoYeah I'm not dead nor is this account. I am still keeping a close eye on the community and events. I have just taken on other interests that keep me from doing any furry art. I still doddle and stuff, I'm just studying new things. At this rate I might as well go back to college.

Considering a story
Posted 14 years agoI've been working on a story in private (obviously). The only thing is I get writers block very easily. When I suffer that for a period of time I tend to drop the project. Please, please, please anyone who can help, crack the whip on me. Let me know if you are interested at all in the project. That helps me to stay on task. Sky is helping me out by being my proof reader and editor. He's good at it too. He can be a real hard ass even when it comes to me.

The blazing noon sun on the scorching hot sand made the dry heat of the desert even more unbearable. He may have had white fur to reflect the sun's rays, but his thick under coat was not helping. Hybrin would much rather be on the slopes of snow-capped mountains than traveling down a desert road with the guild's southern chapter.
The caravan came to a stop ahead. Looking around, Hybrin could see nothing but desert surrounding them. Curious to why they stopped, Hybrin adjusted the cloth over his muzzle and stood in his stirrups. Glancing ahead he could see an object lying in the road a ways ahead of the travelers. Settling back in the saddle he directed his steed to the front of the caravan. As he got closer he could make out the square shape of a steel cage, and a few members of the southern guild mending their wounds. Coming up beside Zamier, the leader of the southern chapter, he caught the ornate wolf's eye.
“It's a slave cage”, Zamier informed Hybrin, while watching his men cautiously move closer to the cage. “Whatever is in there, it's desperate and attacking anyone who gets near.” He met Hybrin's ice cold gaze. Dismounting their thaluks, Hybrin and Zamier walked over to one of the men observing the cage.
The man took a moment and bowed slightly to Zamier before he spoke, “Sir, there don't seem to be any brands of ownership.”
“It must have fallen off a slave trader's wagon then”, Zamier surmised.
Hybrin knelt next to the cage and was horrified by the sight that greeted him as he peered inside. Lying against the bars that made up the side of the cage, was a young feline. Everything about her showed that she had been there for a while. Glazed clear blue eyes were fixed on the ceiling of the cage. Gray and black tipped ears lay flat in distress against a matted head of tangled violet hair. Her gray and black stripped pelt stretched thin over her protruding ribs. Her side rose and fell with each ragged breath she took. Her lips were thin and wrinkled a clear sign of dehydration.
