Serif, in New Jersey?!?!
Posted 12 years agoYou read that right! Serif will be in New Jersey in May! I'm going to the Steampunk's World Fair, or SPWF!
If any furs are interested in Steampunk, look me up! I'll be around in a hat much like this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10189348/
Maybe I'll see some of you?!

Anyone here draw robots?
Posted 13 years agoSpecifically, furry robots? Or, well, not furry. But anthro animal robots?
I'm looking for someone to commission a ref sheet from.

Fanfiction?
Posted 13 years agoI'm considering uploading some of my fanfiction. I know I haven't posted anything for a while. Mmm.
Guess who kind of came back?
Posted 13 years agoSorry for sort of ditching the furry fandom lately. Quick catch up.
Became REALLY into the Steampunk fandom. It's always been something that's interested me, but now I'm super super into it. You can blame Steam Powered Giraffe for that one.
http://www.steampoweredgiraffe.com/news.html
Been doing some writing, some attempts at drawing. Drawing hasn't really happened.
Other massive stuff has gone on in my personal life, but I'm not going to touch that right now. Maybe later.
Attempting to create a new ref sheet for Serif, he's LONG over due.
As always you can catch my writings and fandoms on my Tumblrs!
http://bloggerserif.tumblr.com/
http://writertimes.tumblr.com/
Blogger Serif has Robot Serif on it, while Writer Time has Dapper Serif. Both are Steampunk icons. Fun huh?
Oh, and you can follow me on Twitter under the name of BirdOfTricks! It's my public twitter!
Been taking some commissions in the prop field. I'll post those up later. I'm quite proud of the guns I've painted.
So yeah. Sorry about that? Not sure what to say just at the moment, it's been a longish day.

Book of short stories.
Posted 13 years agoI'm considering writing and selling a book of short stories. It would be separate from Headfeathers, self-published, self-sold, and self-bound. Depending on the length, it would probably be $30, but you would get a custom book cover, and a signed copy. It'll literally be the only one in existence, even if I sell fifteen of them.
Anyone interested? I'd upload samples of the stories here. None of the included works would be commissions.

Writing commissions?
Posted 13 years agoHow do you guys feel about writing commissions? Like, if I were to open for them? Pay a certain amount, I write you a certain amount on the topic of your choice with X amount of characters?
What do you guys think of that?
I'd price it like this:
$5 * 100-200 words, two characters max, clean
$10 * 100-200 words, two characters max, mature rated
$15 * 200-400 words, two characters max, clean
$20 * 200-400 words, two characters max, mature rated
+$5 for each additional 100 words.
$35 * Up to four word-document pages, single spaced, two characters max, clean or mature
+$5 for each additional page
+$3 for every extra character
Does that seem like a fair price?
To give you an idea of size:
Fram's writing sample http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6817188/ is 242 words. Cramming porn in 200 words is hard, so it'll have a higher price.
My latest fic "Hey There Hedgepig" http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8038752.....there_hedgepig is just shy of 2,000, and is three and a half pages.
You'd buy "writing space" and I'll write your set amount. If my writing goes over by ten to fifteen words, or even twenty, I'm not going to charge you extra. They'd be uploaded here, and to my writing Tumblr (if work safe) and perhaps to my Fiction Press account, depending. I'd also send you the original word document via email.
How does this sound? Anyone interested? If so, send me a note and I'll start to hash out the details!
Paypal only, I'm afraid.

Reviews in "Writer Times."
Posted 13 years agoHello everyone! Doing a quick plug for my writing blog, "Writer Times."
Once a week, or so, I’m going to be posting a review-like blog about a movie or television show that I’ve watched recently. Or maybe even a book, if I can find a new one to read, rather than re-reading old ones.
These posts will be titled “Thoughts On” and will have two specific tags. “Thoughts On” and “Reviews.” My first one can be found here, at “Thoughts on ‘Scandal in Belgravia’” which doesn’t follow one of the rules because of when it was posted. See below:
These sections will be tagged, and will have a reply box open on them. “Scandal” does not, because I can’t figure out how to open a reply box on a post that has already been posted. I didn’t know I’d be doing this at the time.
All posts will be honest. I will not say I loved something when really I hated it, and I will not say I hated something when really I loved it.
All posts will have screen caps if applicable. If it is still in theaters, I can’t get screen caps. And therefore won’t. If it is on home video, I’ll get screen caps. “Scandal” will not fit into this, because I watched it on a television with friends, and do not have the file, so I cannot get screen caps. I will not download it, because I said I’d only watch it once, so there you go.
Because of how honest I’m going to be, if you suggest something and I dislike it, please keep a civil mind, and a civil tongue, and don’t “chew me out” for not liking your particular fandom. I will be kind in my reviews, but I’m not going to lie.
Oh, and yes. I do take suggestions! I welcome them, in fact! My ask box is open to logged-in and anonymous alike. I can’t be everywhere and “up with the times” as much as the whole of Tumblr is. So please, do suggest me things to watch/read!
Don’t be afraid! I don’t bite hard! Even though there’s a chance that I may not enjoy the movie, show, or book that you suggested, there’s a chance that I WILL enjoy it! Don’t be afraid! You never know until you try, now, do you?
Please help spread the word. The more suggestions I have, the more segments I can write! And the reply box will be open on this post, so please feel free to share your ideas.
If I miss something in the section that you noticed, if I got something wrong, if you agree/disagree, if you just want to leave a little message of any kind on any of these posts, please leave a comment in the reply box. I’d love to answer them. I’d love to hear what you thought of the story. I’d love to hear what you thought about my thoughts of the story! This is a give and take blog. Please don’t be afraid to raise your voice here. If you want me to reply I’ll do so. If not, that’s fine too. Won’t you join us?
First (really, second) part of this segment is either going to be “Hounds of Baskervilles” or “Third Star” unless someone throws a suggestion my way.

Have you ever moved to another country?
Posted 13 years agoHey everyone! So I have a bit of a weird question.
Have you ever (legally) moved to another country for permanent residence? If you've done so illegally, I don't want to know. I don't care, what you do is what you do. I'm not the police, and I don't want any hand in that.
But if you've moved legally from one country to another, how did you go about it? What kind of paperwork is needed? I'm sure a passport is important, but what about buying a one-way ticket and staying? Citizenship is a whole 'nother barrel of worms that I'm not looking into right now. Just the moving part.
If you've ever moved to another country, or know of someone that's moved to another country, PM me here? I'm looking specifically for USA to somewhere else, but ANY country to another country is fine with me. While looking on websites and Wikipedia is useful, personal stories can tell you more of what to be prepared for and how hard/easy it was. Person to person teaches you more than a website.
So anything you want to share would be most welcome!

Signal boost! Fundraising auction!
Posted 13 years agoHey guys. Something big and extremely tragic went down to a few really great furs. While I didn't know them personally, I had offhandedly met them through friends at brief gatherings/cons. I'm sure you've heard about it. We've lost some amazing people, and some amazing friends, in a rather horrific way.
There's an auction going on right now, to help with those that are immediately hurt by it.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7592005/
If you are able to, please, check it out. Or at least spread the word. It's to help out
. This fandom is great at helping out those in need. And if there was ever someone in need of love, support, and people that care, it's them. And it's now. Check it out. And hey, I know we all have money crunches right now. If you can't donate/bid, please, help spread the word. The more people know, the more people that can be of help in such a hard time.

Hey guess what.
Posted 13 years agoSerif's back! Yeah yeah, I've been kind of missing lately, sorry. Quick update because wow.
Been working at a theater in Tustin. You would think that would mean that I'd have more time. Not when I pulled fourteen hour days for three weeks straight. The money was good though! No work until March, fuck, but I'm okay for now.
Had a few days working at the Pond and the Stadium. Woot for that!
Achievement unlocked! I have a 3DS now. If we chat now and then, and you're interested, send me a note and I'd be glad to swap IDs. Ocarina of Time fuck yes! Also been playing the fuck out of inFAMOUS 2 and Skyward Sword.
Been obsessed with... well, fandoms. So far I've bled these fandoms dry in the last three months: Mario, Legend of Zelda, inFAMOUS, Dr. Who, Dr. Horrible, Castle. I've read every fanfiction, and seen every fan art, available on the internet. I'm so bored now, I have nothing to read. Anyway.
Working on making a Link cosplay now. I'll work on Serif and Riddler later.
Also been making and playing and learning the ocarina. Yes, you read that right. I've been MAKING ocarinas. I just finished burnishing my third one, and I'll fire it when I know for sure it's not going to rain. My weather app tells me it's supposed to rain, so there you go. I fire my clay outside in a strafire brick kiln, it needs to be dry out. Anyway. I'll upload photos and sound clips to
ms-manuscript later.
I've written some fanfiction. It can be found here, if you're interested: http://www.fanfiction.net/~msmanuscript
I'm thinking of uploading it here too, but I'm not sure yet.
Oh yes! I have a new phone. If you have my google number I'm linked to that, so text me all you want, it's good.
Sarah broke her arm the other day. Yep. That's been fun. She fell off the roof. It's stupid, but she did it. I've been babysitting her for the last week and a half.
That's pretty much it for now. I'll be commissioning people soon. I keep getting comments of "Commission me!" And I will be very soon. I just need to figure out exactly what I want. I know I want ref sheets, but of whom first, and then of what style. Not high on my priority list for some reason, though it should be.
My "art break" has been a bad idea. I'm afraid to pick up a pencil and even try drawing a circle now. I should have just powered through it. Not sure how to bring myself to even attempt drawing anything. It's weird. I'm in a fandom that revolves around drawing, but I can't draw, I can't think in three dimensions, but I'm pretty good at sculpting. Go figure.
Welp, that's it for now. Peace, Serif.

Ref sheets?
Posted 14 years agoCross-posted to my old account
ms-manuscript.
So, I'm in the market for new ref sheets. Since I'm no longer drawing, and since I can't keep a standard look for Schrecklich, I'd like to have someone make a few for me.
I'm looking for someone rather good at adopting art styles, and hybrids. Not sure if I'm going to have everyone's sheet redone or not, but I know I at least need ONE for Schre. So there is that. Suggestions here! Suggest yourself, other people, the like. Ready steady GO!

Posted 14 years agoLoves his new icon. Found it on DA. GO TEAM LUIGI!
Onto other news.
I have a new job! While I'm still employed by the baseball stadium, I am now working at a theater during the off season (and during the season, I'll see if I can swing it.)
I'm getting paid a bit weird. I'm working for less money, but my paychecks are bigger. More hours, see. $11.59 an hour at the baseball stadium, but I only work six to twelve hours a week. I've only worked one week at this theater, and I've put in over thirty hours. So even if it's $8 something an hour, I'm getting more.
Even though I have a specialty in lighting, I'm doing set construction for the time being. The theater is still under construction, actually. They built the stage last week, and the walls are being painted right now. So there's no lighting to be done just yet. Instead, I'm building this massive nativity scene. Because we all know just how much I believe in seven pound six ounce baby Jesus. But it's a Christmas show, what you gonna do? I'm kind of hoping to put an eyepatch on Santa and make him Odin for a bit. You know, the original idea behind a large bearded man flying through the cold December night sky on an eight legged horse.
Oh wait, obscure reference warning. Forgot about that.
But yes! I have a new job! I don't have any time to sleep! Yay me! But no, it's fun. I enjoy it. My hands and knees and back hurt, but we're getting things done. Not standing around waiting to pour beer.

My writing Tumblr!
Posted 14 years agoSo, I have linked on my other account, my other Tumblr. Sadly, that Tumblr shares a name with this account, so it's confusing. But, to organize everything, I put my writing on a NEW Tumblr blog!
http://writertimes.tumblr.com/
Writertimes "Writer Times," is a writing blog. Yay! Go there and watch me write more there than I do here!

Digital SLR camera
Posted 14 years agoHey everyone! So I've been trying to get into photography again. I really miss it, not going to lie. My point-and-shoot is nice, but it's not the same as an SLR. I love my SLR camera. It's seriously amazing, I love what comes out of it. Problem is, it's film.
Film is fun, I love the details I can get out of it if I print by hand. But that's the problem. Developing is expensive, printing is expensive, and film itself is expensive. Plus, I have to wait before I can see them/share them.
I'd love to have it be faster, with the same control and detail and quality that my film gives me. Quality in film comes from how you set up the shot and how you work the light. All of that can go down the drain with a shitty camera. Cameras aren't everything, but they help.
I'm looking at a few cameras that are somewhat in my price range by Christmas. Anyone know anything about Canon, or Nikon? Any suggestions on brand and model numbers? Don't worry about the price of the ones you suggest. I'm just looking for reviews and preferences for camera types and what you suggest looking for.
I'm trying to switch from film to digital, so any "this camera doesn't have this," or "this camera does this without you wanting it to" is helpful!
Ewan McGregor?
Posted 14 years agoOkay guys, I need some help. I have a character that uses Ewan McGregor as a "face claim." It's... long and complicated. Anyway. I'm aging him down from his mid thirties, to fifteen. I need someone young and "hip" to play him now. Any ideas on who looks like him, but is twenty five or under?
Also, if someone can suggest an actor that looks like Adrien Brody, but again younger, that'd be nice too.

No raven today.
Posted 14 years agoNo raven at school today. I did tell him I'd have bread "next week" on a Wednesday. So let's hope he'll be there on Wednesday then.
Welcome!
Posted 14 years agoHello and welcome! Clearly this is a new account. If you're interested in my dead art account, head over to
.
That being said, even though I am jobless at the moment, I will be looking into getting some commissions for this account. Things I'd like to have:
+Updated ref sheets for my characters
+Profile ID picture
+Cute new avatar, though this one is awesome
These will be gotten through the next year or so. Focus is mostly on the new ref sheets, and my characters are MUCH overdue for someone with some actual talent to be drawing them. So yes. As soon as I figure out my financial situation with a job and what-not, expect a few commissions to be uploaded here!
I know I have one on the way from a few weeks ago. If it can be uploaded here or not, I'll find out. Until then, writings!
Writing: I'm hopping to be able to post at least a writing a week. Maybe two, if I have time. That's my goal, start small. A writing a week.
