HelixFTR Lorca sketches
General | Posted 2 years agoHello. I mentioned a while back working on a followup HelixFTR character and then went radio silent on that for... checks watch 4 months? I haven't been idle, though.
Currently, I've got sketches for all the core animations, and have some level of code completion getting everything linked up. In the interest of keeping my progress public I'm releasing the sketches for the Lorca.
These sketches are about as WIP as something could be. There's no camera work, no sounds, no tweening, not even symbols for the character yet. It's as early as something like this could be. This is purely for interested parties wanting to see what kind of animations the Lorca will have. That's also why this is in a journal, rather than in a proper post.

Load it up like any real character and it should work.

Hungry Lizards Update

There's now a RC (Release Candidate) for the Rain World mod "Hungry Lizards" I've been working on. Release Candidate is even earlier than Alpha - it's going to be REALLY buggy at the current stage, but I wanted to get something out there sooner rather than later.
It was a huge amount of effort to get everything working, as a LOT of things changed between versions (not the least of which is the damn mod configuration menu, which I had to rewrite nearly from scratch due to how the interface changed.)

As a note: I've only tested with base Rain World. None of the extra Downpour DLC content has been tested (at all).
I plan on continuing to test the basic functionality some more in the coming days, and hopefully will have something more stable out soon.

Details on the HelixFTR character stuff

Realized I mentioned doing another character for HelixFTR and then went radio-silent on that. Sorry about that. I haven't been idle, though. So, here's the situation:
1. The character I'll be making next is the Lorca. I kinda drifted away from the intimidating portion of "something intimidating that wants to be your friend" a bit as I concept out animations, but that's just life sometimes.
2. I'm about half way done sketching out the core animations for the Lorca. I'd say that the Lorca is likely about 30% more animation-work than Jaeger, which means that It'll likely be summer of this year before I have anything meaningful to show.
3. I'm not quite sure how much people want to hear about progress. Do people want to see in progress versions of the character? (If you check out my scraps you can find a post containing the in-progress .swf files for Jaeger. It'd likely be sketches, then keyframes, then tweening, and finally polish.) If not I'll just post the final thing in a few months.
