Posted 16 years agoI had an awesome time the past couple of days with my mate. Tuesday (the day before my birthday) we got some housewarming gifts for my mom (she just moved in her new place a couple of weeks ago), got lost in D.C., had dinner at the Melting Pot (a slightly expensive fondue place - meal for two was about $110), got home at about midnight, had some awesome sex (we've had a two week dry spell because he was with family and I couldn't afford to pay my way) and collapsed asleep.
In the morning, we woke up and had even more amazing sex, then headed out to Kings Dominion (a theme park in central [?] Virginia) for most of the day. Got to ride in the front seat of the roller coasters (we were determined to get front row every time no matter how long the wait), and later enjoyed the water attractions... though that got cut short when it started raining... we weren't too worried until we went back to get our money, and they were closing the park because the Weather Service announced that there was a tornado possibly heading toward the park. It was a huge thunderstorm, I wish I had gotten pictures (the clouds were black and the lightning was incredible!), eventually he and I got out of there, sopping wet and scared as hell but very excited too. So we got out and eventually got to IHOP for dinner at almost ten at night, if not past that, even though the sign said they close at ten. By the way I recommend the banana macadamia pancakes! We left around 11, got back to my place at about 11:25 and crashed around a quarter after 12 or so. He stayed the night because he didn't want to wake his folks up coming in at almost 1 AM, so he got up and left this morning at 5:30.
In a couple of weeks, we're going to Salisbury and Ocean City ^^ I saved the rest of my birthday money for that :D

Lacking inspiration
Posted 16 years agoI really want to do some art. But I never seem to have the inspiration and/or the time. I look and see I have all these projects I've started for people but... I don't want to work on them, even though I feel like I should finish them before starting on other stuff. Yet I still feel the desire to start new things. Does this make me a masochist? A sucker for pain? Maybe I just lack follow-through? I haven't finished an art project since I did that reference picture of Shivani.
Then there's the matter of time. It seems that whenever I really want to draw, or paint, I am under a time constraint and cannot work this desire through because I have to go do something (usually not of my own volition). Then I have the time and... poof! No inspiration. I'm lost for what to make. Even my "little" projects are extremely involved. I just can't do "speed painting" or simple pictures, no... I'm too obsessed with detail. If I can make it look really good, I don't want to stop until it gets there. Still... I lose interest easily, too... knowing I have to do the rest of that detail, painstaking as my hand cramps up.

Posted 16 years ago@_@ I have WAY too many art projects I need to work on, and most of them are pretty ambitious. For example, I just re-opened and did some more on Hinote, the flying raptor I started on ages ago... she's still nowhere near finished for all the detail I intend to put into her.

I'm trying to draw a reference but it keeps looking all wrong... it's difficult because I want her to look snakelike, but she is an anthro, and snakes do not normally have the amount of muscle that mammals have to make facial expressions, so I have to compensate for that. She also has three color phases - blue, green, and gold - each having stripes of a certain color, and her eyes change color with it... and I need to convey those too.
I'm really trying to make her distinguished from the other serpent fursonas out there. It's a little frustrating because I like the idea of her being in a snake charmer situation, whether she is being charmed or if she - the cobra - is doing the charming to another (not necessarily a fellow serpent)... but I can't really request that unless I get her reference finished. Why are you a furry?
Posted 16 years agoOn another forum I frequent, some have asked why people would want to fursuit/have a fursona. The general attitude, when asked that, was that of someone who is perplexed at why anyone would want to pretend to be an animal (this on a therianthrope board, where many on there believe they are animals inside, whether mentally or spiritually). I offered my own hypothesis as both a therian and a furry, but I cannot be sure if it is only my perspective or what.

Posted 16 years agoOkay, so I started spring semester on the 20th (yes, Inauguration Day). I made it to the Student Center at my campus to watch it, and now my picture is in the local newspaper! =D there were photographers there taking pictures of all the students in attendance, and I just happened to be in the right spot (so glad I did my hair that day!).
Anyway, one of my classes is Calculus 2, which almost any math professor at my college will say is the hardest math class, and it's mandatory for my degree. Ugh. So that means I probably will not be posting artwork as much, and more delays on my works in progress.
Lately I've been trying my hand at all-digital work, as in no scanners, no paper, just my tablet and GIMP. But now I'm wondering if I should start using a different program. I love GIMP, but I think I got some software with my tablet, including basic versions of Photoshop and Corel Painter. Should I stick with what I know? Or should I try my hand at the other two and if the latter, which of the two should I go with?
Finally, I still really need a new avatar, but I have too many things I'm doing and not enough inspiration to do one on my own, so... does anyone want to make a new one for me? I love jaguars and cobras, if anyone needs an idea, or one of my animal characters (scan through my gallery and take your pick, or you can go to my dA http://borncrazy7189.deviantart.com to see more). Be creative, I like to see other peoples' takes on my characters!

Posted 17 years agoMy name's Kameron. A lot of people know me as either BornCrazy7189, or SerpentineZebra. I'm a 19 year old, straight female in a relationship. I am relatively new to the furry community, though I've been drawing anthro/furry art for a long time.
I identify as a Jagrabra - I have the head, neck, hood, and tail of a cobra; I have the body of a raptor; and the front paws and fur of a jaguar. Both mammal and reptile, I thrive in warm climates. Mostly a loner, I can tolerate large groups but am much better off alone, with my mate, or in a small gathering. However, I'm pretty friendly and generally will happily answer questions you may have. I'm a carnivore with a conscience, as I love to eat meat (chicken, pork, and fish especially) but still feel a little bad; not to say I will not devour some good veggies too, but sometimes it just needs a little flesh with it! Favorite foods include sushi, cheese, sunflower seeds, grilled or fried chicken, and Chipotle steak tacos. I like to be thought of as some combination of tough and tomboyish, yet seductive and even a little coy.
As an artist, I've worked in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, Prismacolor marker, graphite, charcoal, pastel, and colored pencil, and have recently delved into digital coloring. I miss doing oils and Prismacolor, but both are very expensive (and oils are messy; I live in a house owned by neat freaks). I have the resources for watercolor, pen and ink, graphite, and colored pencil... except for time, energy, and space. As I am currently working on an Associate's in Computer Science, I have not had much time to fit art classes in. This has taken a toll on my emotional health, and I intend to get into an art class next semester, to hell with the fact that it might not fit into my actual degree, this is my mental state we're talking about here. I miss being in IB Art, and miss my high school art teacher, she was like... that crazy aunt you love to death because she's really cool. Anyway, I did research workbooks as part of the class, and even though I only got about halfway through the second, I submitted slides of my art work and scans of my RWBs, and I got 5 out of 7 (which is REALLY difficult to get, as most of the kids in my class - who also put blood, sweat, and tears into their work - got a three or four).
As a furry artist, I plan on getting into yiffy art, but my photographic memory of anatomy is abysmal at best.
In my personal life, yes, I have a boyfriend of almost a year who is a wolf therian; he's 20, and we couldn't be more in love with each other. He's kind of neutral to the furry fandom. I'm hoping that we'll eventually get married, though no definite word on that will be said for now. My other hobbies outside of art include Dance Dance Revolution, astrology, listening to music, general snacking, and sex (is that a hobby? lol) as well as Instant Messaging and forum lurking. I'm an animal lover and would love to have a house full of pets one day. My vices include staying up late, DDR masochism, yiffy art, caffeine/energy drinks, junk food, and high libido. I have an interest in zoophilia (not to be confused with bestiality >_> ), love fetish fashion, have not tried fursuiting (but I want to), but don't really have many true fetishes. Maybe light bondage.
Spiritually, I believe in the occult in a lot of ways, as my practice with astrology has shown incredible accuracy in many cases. I do believe in ghosts, an afterlife, reincarnation, and loosely in a heaven and hell. I get the inkling that there is a higher power, but it interferes very little with our day-to-day lives, if at all. I don't know, I haven't totally decided what I think about that concept. Anyway, I did research workbooks as part of the class, and even though I only got about halfway through the second, I submitted slides of my art work and scans of my RWBs, and I got 5 out of 7 (which is REALLY difficult to get, as most of the kids in my class - who also put blood, sweat, and tears into their work - got a three or four).
As a furry artist, I plan on getting into yiffy art, but my photographic memory of anatomy is abysmal at best.
In my personal life, yes, I have a boyfriend of almost a year who is a wolf therian; he's 20, and we couldn't be more in love with each other. He's kind of neutral to the furry fandom. I'm hoping that we'll eventually get married, though no definite word on that will be said for now. My other hobbies outside of art include Dance Dance Revolution, astrology, listening to music, general snacking, and sex (is that a hobby? lol) as well as Instant Messaging and forum lurking. I'm an animal lover and would love to have a house full of pets one day. My vices include staying up late, DDR masochism, yiffy art, caffeine/energy drinks, junk food, and high libido. I have an interest in zoophilia (not to be confused with bestiality >_> ), love fetish fashion, have not tried fursuiting (but I want to), but don't really have many true fetishes. Maybe light bondage.
Spiritually, I believe in the occult in a lot of ways, as my practice with astrology has shown incredible accuracy in many cases. I do believe in ghosts, an afterlife, reincarnation, and loosely in a heaven and hell. I get the inkling that there is a higher power, but it interferes very little with our day-to-day lives, if at all. I don't know, I haven't totally decided what I think about that concept. I guess you could say I'm somewhere between a Unitarian Universalist, a LaVeyan Satanist, and a Neo-Pagan.
