this is a quick review of the latest version of the Cube i7 line that I thought might be a possible Cintiq Companion alternative http://www.cube-tablet.com/cube-i7-.....gb-tablet.html

So to start off, this tablet is absolutely worthless for art.

The actual drawing stylus, which you have to buy separate because it doesn't come with the tablet, doesn't work on sai. In fact it only works with 3 programs, Adobe CC, Freshpaint and Manga Studio/Clip Studio Paint.
Now Obviously no one is going to "rent" Adobe CC just for this tablet, and Freshpaint isn't even a real drawing program but all of that could be overlooked if if only Manga Studio/Clip Studio Paint worked, which they don't and I'll explain why in the next part of this rant.

The Cube i7 Stylus ships with some bastardized version of Windows 8.1, and if you were unlucky enough to buy from Geekbuying (like I was) then chances are you received a unit with a stolen Windows key that you can't upgrade or reinstall.
All of this tablet's faults seem to spring from this version of Windows 8.1 because it is neither a Chinese version an English version so that means you can't install Manga Studio/Clip Studio Paint in either Chinese OR English.
The worst part is that all of this could be fixed if you could just install the Wacom Feel Drivers, which would allow the ElectroMagnetic Screen hardware to use pressure enabled stylus just the same as on a Wacom product, however the Windows OS you get with the tablet actually prevents those drivers from working.

Now why don't I just do a clean install of Windows or upgrade to WIndows 10? Because the tablet drivers/bios are incredibly hard to find online and from what I've read you might lose screen rotation and other functions associated with internal sensors.

So unless they push out some major driver changes, which they may never do, it is just too much effort to turn this into a drawing tablet, especially since no one has actually made it work yet.

On the other hand the hardware is very solid for a non-art tablet and you'd be hard pressed to find another tablet at that price with 4GB of RAM

Before anyone actually buys this though keep in mind that it's certainly not cintiq quality and it's not optimized for art and the main reason you'd buy a cintiq companion is the express keys and on screen controls but you could probably get around those with a keyboard and some touch screen software
I just thought this might be interesting for anyone who wanted to try drawing on a standalone tablet but had a budget
