I'm happy. Now get them back in the cartoons and I'll be even happier.

Morenatsu continued
Posted 12 years agoThe main character can be such a dumbass. When Tappei-san was coming on to me, no way would I have turned him down. "I could teach you so many things. I know a place where adults have fun." I was like yeah-yeah-yeah. I felt quite angry at my virtual vessel at that moment.
Morenatsu
Posted 12 years agoStarted playing Morenatsu today, and wound up wondering why I haven't gotten into it sooner. So charming. And Tatsuki is cute. I've got a thing for Tappei too.
Klump rules
Posted 12 years agoAnd you wanna know one of the reasons? He's not human.
So often I hear, in defense of needless bland and usually human characters on a cartoon, "We need them so we can identify with them."
That is the biggest pile of bullshit I have ever heard, and it needs to STOP.
Ever since storytelling began, humanity has been imbuing animals with human characteristics. It is one of the grand old traditions of storytelling. It's how we identify with animals. Yes, you can read that again. We identify with those different from us. Look at the Aesop fables. Tons of morality tales starring animals. You know why? Because the message goes down easier.
So the Ben 10s and the kids-on-Sonic-X-whose-names-I-can't-be-bother-to-look-up can walk off a short pier for all I care. I grew up on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and I'm calling your bullshit. If you think that in order for me to get invested in a cartoon, there needs to be a bland and colourless character, then you are implying that I'm bland and colourless too.
For all of those reasons, General Klump from Donkey Kong Country rules.

Gay dream
Posted 12 years agoI had the best dream last night. Three guys wanted to have sex with me. They knew how inexperienced I was and wanted to almost rectify that. It felt so real, too, not surreal like most dreams. When I woke up and realized I had dreamt the whole thing, I wanted to cry.
Sony, seriously
Posted 12 years agoThe whole purpose of downloadable games is so more people can play them, worldwide. And the world =/= the USA. All the cool retro stuff (Mega Mans 9 and 10, Virtua Fighter 2) seems to be US only. Why?
Virtua Fighter 2 on PS3
Posted 12 years agoIs there a way for someone outside the US to buy it? International sales from that store seem completely bulletproof and I can't find the game in the UK PSN store. Anyone? I REALLY miss playing it (my PC is too powerful for the PC version I own).

Frozen... :'(
Posted 12 years agoNice going, Disney. I was very excited about Frozen, and then you put a scene with man-eating wolves in it. Really? Like, really?! In 2013? With all the shit that's happening to wolves? And at the same time there is a Disney Nature film called Bears being released. Double Standard City. Thanks a lot for spoiling a movie I was excited to see by making me morally unable to like it. Seriously, the anger, it boils.
Gargoyles!
Posted 12 years agoGot the first season on DVD for my birthday, and am really getting into it. It's a wonderful show, with great characters, mood and animations. The themes are also so refreshing. A particular episode features Broadway (a food-loving Gargoyle) fascinated by a western, so when he sees a gun that their policewoman friend has, he plays cowboy with it and accidentally shoots her, nearly killing her (fortunately she pulls through). Overcome with guilt, Broadway has to work up the guts to tell Goliath it was him and not a shady weapons dealer. Talk about powerful storytelling and character development. Man this show is awesome. If you haven't seen it, you should.
Region code sucks
Posted 12 years agoWhy does such a thing as region code exist in the internet age? We can buy from all over the world, but we can't play it just anywhere? And these companies wonder by piracy exists.
I was under the impression that the PS3 was region free. Apparently not, as I just discovered, about to watch Gargoyles. I can watch it on my PC, but it's just not the same hunched in front of my computer as it is sitting on my bed in front of a widescreen tv. Sony, I like a lot of the stuff you do, but screw you for this.

Music player meme
Posted 12 years agoGot this from
rufferstuff
1. Put your music player on shuffle.
2. Press forward for each question.
3. Use the song title as the answer to the question even if it doesn’t make sense. NO CHEATING!
4. Bold the questions and with the answers, give your own comments on how it relates to the questions.
How are you feeling today?
"Skull Castle #1" from Mega Man II (so, pretty epic)
Will you get far in life?
"The Modern Things" by Björk (cryptic but I take that as a yes)
How do your friends see you?
"Emotion" by Daft Punk (yeah, pretty much)
Will you get married?
"Dead to the World" by Röyksopp :-|
What is your best friend's theme song?
"Southern Blues" (he loves Spain, so yeah)
What is the story of your life?
"Play Dead" by Björk (I think my iPod's trying to tell me something)
What was high school like?
"Sound of Our Hearts" by Compact Disco (might be confusing with college)
How can you get ahead in life?
"Lullaby for a Volcano" by Philip Kirkorov. (Straight answers, who needs them?)
What is the best thing about your friends?
"Fun", a comedy podcast (quite true)
What is in store for this weekend?
"Sweet Dreams" by Janet Jackson (not much, I take it)
To describe your grandparents?
"Danger IV" from Tomb Raider III. (hardly)
How is your life going?
"Mother and Father" by Madonna. (I am living with them, true.)
What song will they play at your funeral?
"When I Grow Up" by Garbage (yeah, never grow up!)
How does the world see you?
"To Go Beyond" by Enya (as someone who keeps following his heart; I like that)
Will you have a happy life?
"King's Castle" from Villgust, a Famicom game (alright!)
What do your friends really think of you?
"Broadway" by Sebastien Tellier (I'm ambitious and a primadonna)
Do people secretly lust after you?
"Aftur og aftur" by Todmobile (it means "Again and again". And thus we have the answer to that.)
How can I make myself happy?
"Give Up the Ghost" by Radiohead (good advice)
What should you do with your life?
"Storms in Africa" by Enya I'd love to go on a safari!)
Will you ever have children?
"Adam's Song" by blink-182 (I guess yes, and his name will be Adam)

To all of you from Eastern Europe...
Posted 12 years ago...how do you deal with it? I'm having a hard enough time stomaching the awful, seemingly rising wave of homophobia springing up, and not just in Russia - and I live in Iceland. Why do so many people think that targeting gay people will solve all of their problems? Have we not come further from the age of lynch mobs?
It's sad that in an age where half of Europe is losing its last traces of homophobia, the other half seems to be having an upsurge. I just can't fathom that kind of thing happening now.

Something personal
Posted 12 years agoI wanna share something personal with you guys. The privilege of anonymity, I guess.
As may be obvious by my favourites, I'm gay. Still closeted, though. My mom knows that I'm thinking about who I am, though, and she's told me that she'll love me no matter what.
It's been my dad's possible reaction that scares me more. Whenever we're driving and a beautiful woman is walking on the street, he's liked to point her out to me. I've become used to this and tried to skive it off with little enthusiasm, but recently he's started to mention the concept of girls often, and first I began to wonder whether he really could not read the signs, and then whether he suspected me and this is his way of coaxing me out?
Then one day, about two weeks ago, we were driving and after he asked me what I thought of a girl serving us fries, I told him that I wasn't interested in girls "right now" (a phrase my mom had encouraged). One thing led to another and he asked me whether I looked at guys, since I didn't look at girls. To be honest, I told him I wasn't sure, that I was just in another place right now (and to be fair, for personal reasons I won't get into here, I am). He then told me something that I'm first now realizing lifted years of fear off my shoulders:
"Oh, well, you have to understand that most parents would prefer if their child were straight. But whatever you choose, I'll always be happy for you."
I've read loads of tragic coming out stories, and now I'm asking myself, what am I waiting for? I clearly have some of the most understanding, least homophobic parents on the planet, so why am I still waiting? I've realized that I'm more afraid of my own reaction than theirs, signalling that 'gay' box and wondering how that will change my life.
I don't know, maybe I'm totally out of line sharing this. Just felt like venting.

Art material ideas?
Posted 12 years agoI'm declaring war on my art block. So I'd like to get ideas on materials to use for art (mainly drawing but also painting). What do you guys like to use?
I must be related to Alan Grant
Posted 12 years agoBecause computers seem to hate me too. Well, not computers per se, just the fact that I'd like to use them to draw. Uncomfortable technical glitches are attracted to me like moths to a flame. Things like my Wacom board not working with the whole screen when I use Photoshop. Things like a slight delay when I use my stylus on my Android. Just enough to puncture your creative mood. Sound familiar?
Symphony of the Night confused
Posted 12 years agoSo this week I finally tried out Symphony of the Night for the first time, and while I've had a blast with it, I'm fairly certain that something is wrong. After getting the ability to become a bat, I fly across the broken stairway and fight Richter Belmont. After that, the game just ends. No Shaft, no Dracula, no inverted castle or any of the things I heard of in the latter half of the game. Did I do something wrong? Activating the switch in the Underground Caverns also doesn't seem to make the barrel skeleton monkey appear. What's going on?
Great day
Posted 12 years agoI got a job AND a PS3! So all in all, a pretty swell day
Save wolves!
Posted 12 years agoI try not to get political on this site, but on a site where wolves are a pretty loved species, I think it's relevant. The U.S. government has proposed to remove protections for gray wolves across the country! This is NOT due to scientific foundations, but lobbying by wolf-hating politicians. Please sign here, it only takes a second and non-U.S. citizens can do it, the new Secretary of the Interior will get these signatures:

Nosebleeds...
Posted 12 years ago...I hate them.
That's one of the most worryingly popular fetishes I've seen. In furry fiction, instead of a guy getting a boner when looking at a hunk he's into, now he's just as likely to orgasm through his nose. I've begun seeing this in such disparate places that it worries me. I have enough problems with bloodletting to begin with (last time I had to give blood for medical reasons, I threw up), but what I don't understand is why this is so popular to begin with? I can safely say I've had quite a few boners, and I don't ever remember having to clog my nose with tissues. I know this started out as a little joke, but enough is enough.
What's wrong with an old-fashioned boner, huh? Everybody can relate to that. Or if it has to be liquid coming out of your head, how about saliva? Both are tried and tested ways to tell if a guy wants to bone you.
So the moral of this story is; make boner, not blood.
