Cymbal, we hardly knew ya... wait a minute, yeah we do
Posted 14 years agoCymbal, the awesome dragon from Dragonball. I'm stung that this charismatic, menacing guy was killed so quickly in the cartoon (and by Yajirobe). But the good thing is that cartoon characters don't really die except in a particular storyline.
I salute you, Cymbal. (He has a sexy voice, donthca think?)

Wrist problems?
Posted 14 years agoSee your doctor!
Wrist problems is probably the thing every working artist fears like the plague. We can still draw if we break our legs, but what when our working hand is incapacitated?
Luckily I'm not incapacitated, but my wrist had been bothering me for some time, and I realized that I had to do something about it. My doctor gave me prescriptions for a muscle-relaxing potion, and told me to do stretch exercises and buy a wrist brace (which I did, you can get them at every decent sports outlet). I feel much better now, and my work rhythm is no longer compromised.
So my advice to you is; if you feel something, don't be afraid, just see a professional. You'll be glad you did it sooner rather than later, and can solve the issue much quicker as a result. Happy December! :)

I'm the DJ
Posted 14 years agoI have netted a spot at my school's Halloween party as DJ, and the ideal time slot from 1-2 AM. The sole condition was that it was music people could dance to, and I think I can fulfill that promise. These songs will definitely be on there:
"Thriller" (but of course)
"Sponsored by Destiny" and "Malmö Beach Night Party" by Slagsmålsklubben (look them up, they're brilliant)
And I'm planning on having something by Justice and the Prodigy among other things. I've wanted to do this for some time and I'm really excited. :D Is there anything Halloween dance-related that I'm overlooking and could be a potential floor-filler?

Doppelganger?
Posted 14 years agoI just discovered that there is a guy actually called Seth Blizzard on Facebook. He even has a blog. Nothing artistic, and he's not a furry as far as I can tell. But I still was pretty shocked. I totally made up my name out of very personal things, so I wasn't ready to discover such an accurate doppelganger.
But I guess that's to be expected. After all, my dad and my mom gave me my two names, and then two guys at dad's office (where he started long after I was born) have the same two names. Go figure. O_o

Doggie Kruger. Anubis Cruger. The same or not? Help!
Posted 14 years agoThis has been driving me crazy. Is Doggie Kruger the same as Anubis Cruger? Because the two don't look the same; the design is different. I googled Doggie Kruger and I slowly got redirected to Anubis Cruger, who doesn't look the same. Help, who is he? Or they? :S
Ronal the Barbarian
Posted 14 years agoI was just at a screening at my school of the Danish film Ronal the Barbarian (no relation to Conan). It's a really fun, freaky animated movie fantasy with leather, fire and nipples galore.
So much masculinity there. There's even a scene with a giant demon and all I kept thinking was, "Wow, he's buff. I wanna cling onto those pecs." So if you get a chance to see it, please do.

Why do you do this to me?
Posted 14 years ago...Kung Fu Panda 2 ain't coming out on DVD until mid-November? Are the forces of the universe conspiring against me ever seeing it? Or trying to kill my with unfulfilled desire?
Techy question on acknowledgement (here on FA)
Posted 14 years agoNoob question, really; how do you link to a particular artist in submissions and journals, where you just put their avatar on there, which links to their page? I want in on the fun, please help!
I'm 25 today
Posted 14 years agoJust wanted to let you know that it's my birthday today. I would have drawn something to celebrate but my wacom's birthday present was to lose its pressure sensitivity for no reason at all. Oh well.

Terror in Norway
Posted 14 years agoOnly yesterday, two terrible incidents happened in Norway. First, a bomb went off in the government offices in Oslo, killing 7 people and injuring many more. Then, on the island of Utoy, a man masquerading as a police officer gunned down 84 people before he was arrested. The people were there for a political get-together and the man said he was there to check the situation.
91 people dead in the course of 1 day. I couldn't believe that number when I heard it this morning. Norway is not a country where I imagined something like this could happen. I'm now a bit anxious for my sister, who is leaving for Norway to live there in a couple of weeks (a town just outside Oslo, as it happens).
My heart goes out to the people of Norway for this tragedy. May nothing of the sort happen again.

Awkward
Posted 14 years agoMy dad just came in my room to talk about my television. I was drawing something maybe a bit too masculine-adoring for his tastes so I minimized the window. I didn't realize until after he had left the room that my desktop background is that of a buff foxy chef lying down wearing only underwear, a chef's hat and the words "Happy Birthday Nick300" over his body in frosting. Awkward.
Loopy de Loop
Posted 14 years agoEver since I saw this submission by Rthur...
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6089490
...I've taken a big interest in Loopy the Loop, the first cartoon Hanna Barbera made independently after leaving MGM.
I love Loopy the Loop because he is a wolf determined to erase the bad reputation of wolves. Why have I only just heard of this guy? He goes around doing good deeds that people unfortunately mistake as bad deeds. Poor guy, but he never gives up, always charming, and I love that.
I also love the way he looks (plus his scarf and cap), and his French accent doesn't spoil matters either. He's awesome.

Goodbye, Po
Posted 14 years agoI have zero luck when it comes to animated movies shown in the theater. I was aching to see Kung Fu Panda 2, in English. Unfortunately, while in Denmark, the town theater only showed it in Danish. I held out to get to Iceland to see it there, in English.
So I planned to go with my friend tomorrow, Saturday, on his birthday. And that just happened to be one day too late. From now on, they're only showing the movie in Icelandic (both regular and 3D - who takes their kids to watch dubbed 3D?!). I've missed the one movie I've looked forward to seeing all year, and I will never see it on a wide screen in a packed movie theater. That is an experience I will never get to enjoy. I want to cry.
I want to move to a big city, where I won't have to put up with this kind of stuff.

When you get the chance, SEIZE IT (learn from my example)
Posted 14 years agoA word of advice to anyone who's reading this; if you get your chance to do something you really wanna do, do yourself a favour and just say yes, right away. You can figure out how to do it later. If you wait, somebody else who also wants it will steal that chance from you.
That happened to me. This Friday we have a school party with an awesome theme; out in space disco party. I was thinking of DJing in the closing hours (or at least after midnight) because that's when people are really in the dancing mood. But I wasn't quite sure of all the technicalities of it so I hesitated and put together a playlist, intending to talk to my classmate arranging this stuff.
This morning I opened my email to find that the golden two hours have already been taken. Before midnight is still free, but that's no good for the music I had in mind. So, if you wanna avoid massive disappointment (and possibly heavy tantrums), I advice you to not hesitate when you get the chance to do something you wanna do. You will thank yourself in the future.

Test tomorrow
Posted 14 years agoTomorrow is our final test for our 2nd year in character animation. I'm a bit nervous, even though I found out I passed my last (midway) test when I wasn't that happy with the outcome. Hope I'll do better this time. Anyway, the test takes five days, and I haven't touched the program we're using for some time, so here's hoping.
Thanks all of you who are watching me. I really appreciate your faves and your insightful comments.

McGruff vs stupid people on the internet
Posted 14 years agoWhy do idiots always congregate to comment on the most ingelligent things, and put them down with snide comments?
Just search for videos on YouTube with McGruff the crime dog. You will always find some idiots who completely miss the point (and garner a lot of plusses from the asinine comment rating system). Case in point: "Winners don't use drugs? Explain Charlie Sheen". Oh, please. And the uploader called it "Epic win" or some other statement. That's just the tip of the iceberg too. Come on, guys, being witty is fun and all, but not at the expense of intelligent and important things. It's like they're trying to undermine the important messages McGruff gets across.

1916 the videogame
Posted 14 years agoI'm back in Viborg after a successful presentation of our game. Sure, I only animated in it, but it was nice to be involved in something bigger than just your individual scenes.
You can play the game here: http://www.1916.dadiugames.dk/
Watch out for my dinos.

On Dinosaurs vs WWI
Posted 14 years agoSo, we're over halfway through the production of this videogame project I'm helping develop as part of school. "Helping develop" meaning that I'm animating this velociraptor chasing soldiers in the trenches of WWI. Asking me to do 17 animations in 2 and a half weeks was, shall I say, a bit crazy, but by the time I realised, I was too far into the process to be bothered.
It was a bit of a slow start, but I like the guys on the team (yeah, just guys on it). Nevertheless, my need for storytelling is too strong and I think I enjoy movie scenes better than videogames. As a focus point, at least.
Aalborg is not a bad city, and neither is the campus. The thing is that it's a sports campus, and you totally feel like a fish out of water there when you're an artsy nerd like me. There are fixed meals (we have no cooking facilities in our rooms), so basically you have to count on the Chef's Surprise (they don't call it that) to nutrify you (is that even a word?). If it sounds a lot like prison it's because that's what it felt like at first. Fortunately, my classmate and friend has been giving me rides to and from Viborg over the weekend just to get some sanity in my room. And I do have a room to myself at the college, and I'm only staying there for a week and a half more, so that's good news. My only quirk is; why is that bed more comfy than mine? *sigh* Guess you can't have it all in life.

And I do have a room to myself at the college, and I'm only staying there for a week and a half more, so that's good news. My only quirk is; why is that bed more comfy than mine? *sigh* Guess you can't have it all in life.

Going away for 5 weeks
Posted 14 years agoI'm going to the city of Aalborg for the next 5 weeks to work on a videogame project as an animator!
The theme is World War I... with dinosaurs!
It'll be nice to get away from sleepy Viborg a bit and get some new experiences. You'll hear more once things are more underway. Ciao.

To my watchers (can't believe I have 'em)
Posted 15 years agoJust want to say, I haven't done nearly as much on this site as I would have liked to at this point, and for that I apologize. I DO draw (haven't been able to control it since I could hold a pencil, actually). Fact is, though, school life takes up a lot of time. I work usually in the evenings as well, and in the weekends I try to relax and I don't feel particularly creative. So you can imagine how easy it is to keep interest in my personal work.
But I do plan on raiding my sketchbooks for stuff I have drawn in the near future. In just over a week, I'll have a whole week off on my hands...
I would like to thank all those people who watch me. Can't believe there's so many, considering that I've only posted one drawing (which I did in an hour or so one evening), but I am really touched and plan on making your watch more worthwhile. Till then, keep being awesome, FA.
