So here's the thing... My last journal was written at the peak of my depression. I suppose it is unclear to some of the full story. First off, in direction to Silikiyu's comment, my mother is not fat or lazy. She works hard to provide for our family with the job she has had for several years now. She uses a good portion of what she earns trying to pay for my shortcomings. And has for far too long. I am ashamed of it, honestly... I wish she didn't have to pay for all she does, but she DOES support me, both financially, as well as in keeping a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in. Sure, privacy has all but disappeared, but she's been finding it harder and harder to trust me after lies to her about my job situation. Not just this one, but for a few in the past. And yes... I have had many jobs... all while trying to pay back what I rightfully owe. It's a dismal outlook, having to pay back $14,000 in debt, but it's something I have to do. I can't cut and run from something like this. You all should know that of me by now, but I want to make it clear. She is due what she is owed, and I am due to pay it. It has been several years now this has been escalating... basically since my ex left. Hell, before that even. For any number of things... support for my little one... simple gas in my car... for the past two cars I have had, unfortunate as that is, for the lawyer... for trips to pick up said little one after we won our custody battle. It's been a hard road for everyone, ans while the supportive words were appreciated, I realize in retrospect that the jeering was not. To shoe I have given the wrong impression to, i would like to say... you need to leave it be. I hate it... surely you all hate it, but... all I can do is continue to work toward getting a new job and trying, once more, to sort this all out. For good, if I am lucky. I would appreciate apologies for anything said without the full story... fact is... my mother DOES take care of my various needs. I really hate it... being 25 and having to say that... but it's true. Kind words are always welcome to those of you who know me well, but barbs at my family are... un-warranted. *Sighs* that said though... to prevent myself from lashing out like this again... from saying things that could hurt people if seen, I think I am done with FA. I hate to say it, as it has been a strong outlet for me, but... I cannot stay. And I am sorry it has to be this way. You've all been great... and I cherish friendships made along the way. Okay, folks... so here's the story I have for you today. I was working up until a short while back. However, knowing my mother, she would simply flip out about me telling her I no longer am employed. Especially in telling her I terminated my own career. That I quit because it was, quite simply, not the job for me. Made me ill just driving into work each day. Every day was stressful and wore me down, both physically and emotionally. Suffice to say, telemarketing, especially SCRIPTED telemarketing, is not for me. There's no soul or compassion in it. I could not stand it. That said, last night, my mother went to the extra lengths of locating me, a town over, 20 minutes away from my home town, and in the opposite direction she EVER travels in, at the local library in said town. She went OUT OF HER WAY... and found me. She stood in the library, demanding I get off my computer and return home so she could bitch at me in private, rather than making a scene. She stood over me while I wrapped up everything I was in the middle of. Bear in mind, I had intended to tell her on Monday I was no longer working this job, but she found out early somehow. And SOMEHOW knew I was at this neighboring town's library. Fucked. Up.

Anyways, so she demands I return home, I wrap up what I'm doing, head out to my car, and she begins her bitching. Wanting to know why I wasn't at work. I told her I quit and closed my car door to get ready to head home, only to have her come over, whip open my door, and demand I explain. I simply re-iterated that I quit. Plain and simple. She said to get my ass home so we could talk. That said, she pulled out of the library parking lot ahead of me and sat across the street waiting for me to head home. Once I passed her, she followed behind me. The whole way home. So, to spite her, I drove 20MPH under the speed limit the whole way home. Nothing like driving 50MPH on the highway. xP She, of course, remained right behind me the whole way, in spite of my slow speed, so as to ensure I returned straight home. Which I did, just slowly.

Once I get home, she begins her ranting and raving, insisting I tell her why I would quit my job without having a new one lined up. I explained why I quit, and she actually didn't seem as upset about my reason for quitting as I expected she would be. She was more upset about my not having a new job lined up. After all, she's wanting all her money back. Even threatened to pull out the list of what I owe her and why. I told her I trusted her numbers to be accurate, and still she wanted to run it by me. Not sure why, but whatevs. Thankfully, she did not. Would have been little more than me sitting there nodding my head and saying things like 'Mhm' 'Sure' 'Ah' 'Okay' and the like for what would likely be an hour or more. At any rate, so we get into the punishing side... because at 25, I still need to be punished by my mother, obviously. -w- Anyways, so come to find out she had removed my bedroom door before she even came to get me, so she already knew where I was, I guess. Funny. And on top of that, she insists I cannot use my laptop in her house save for job hunting. If I want to play games or the like, I am expected to go outside and do it... in freezing weather, mind you. It's below 32 degrees Fahrenheit these days. Below zero at night more often than not. And she doesn't want me staying up past 11, I guess. Not that I have any intention of it if I have to bee outside in below zero temps to enjoy my time. >w>

Anyways... then there's the last bit. If I don't have an interview set up by Monday, then I'm getting kicked out of the house when she leaves in the morning between 6:30 and 7 AM to do whatever until she returns home, usually around 5PM. She also insists she plans to pay for nothing more, regardless of if it adds to my debt. This means my car insurance that's due in a couple weeks, or to fly out my son for his three month visit in about 6 weeks. Or even gas for my car. So she plans to kick me out every day and job hunt with only half my gas tank remaining. Oh, and better still, she doesn't want the gas tank falling below halfway since it's still Winter, so as not to freeze the gas in the tank. So awesome. My life has gone rather FUBAR if you ask me, and I see no good way out. *Sighs* Just thought I should update you all with my life drama, since this latest installment is the most colorful yet, I would say. Again... I'm 25, but she feels the need to keep me on some kind of leash like I'm a child again. All throughout our fight calling me stupid, ignorant, less than dirt, useless... this has been my entire life... and yet somehow I'm expected not to have developed a wrothlessness complex in all this time. She thinks I have a problem when I talk down about myself. And she thinks I have an internet addiction. But honestly... wouldn't YOU decide to hide on the net if your real life was this fucked? I dunno folks... this home situation needs to be fixed, but... it's not going to happen any time soon. Even if I get a job... she plans to take all of my paychecks save for what gas costs me. So I'm looking at earning nothing but gas money for the next year and a half minimum IF I get and keep a job for that whole duration. Lovely. -w- Anyways... life prospects for me are not happy ones... but I still felt an update on my life situation was necessary after the crap I put up with last night. Thanks to those that listened to all this, I know it's a lot to take in and such... and obviously none of you guys' problems. Throughout the world there exist a great many Mana Crystals, often offering different benefits to the land, the most prevalent of which are the ones scattered throughout the Westerlash Desert that provide small oases around which villages formed and thrive in spite of the terrible conditions of the world outside. Mages possess the ability to tap into the Mana of each crystal from varying distances based on their skills in the craft. The downside to this is that great range from a crystal provides a reduced magickal effect. Additionally, the Mana Crystals produce run-off in the form of wispy mana that floats through the air as a visible sort of luminescent gas. This gas is potent and quite magickal in it's own right, but often fills up the skies around crystal habitats with a unique Aurora Borealis Effect, lighting and coloring the sky. If you can see this coloration, chances are you have an active line to Mana. As a mage taps into the mana of a crystal, it depletes the supply. However, natural mana sources are tied into the earth itself and regenerate their mana in this way. That is why it is prohibited to remove a Mana Crystal that is tied into the earth. Once a crystal has been removed, the removed portion holds only a limited tappable supply that can not be refreshed in any way, and once it is gone, the crystal is not unlike a decorative rock, both in value and appearance.

Truly skilled mages can resupply limited storage mana crystals that have been severed from the earth by funneling energy from one crystal to another, usually by tapping into a live crystal source, much like filling a canteen with water. Any seeking services of this nature, however, tend to pay a pretty hefty some to those skilled enough for mana transference, and for those who can perform it, the action can take quite a toll on a person's stamina. The larger, natural Mana Crystals are forbidden from exclusive access, and trying to keep the mana source for one's self is a well-regulated crime. The exception to this is Diomundus, the Star of the North, where the mages call home. They have access to some of the largest, living, floating mana crystals in all of Tempestia, and worked the citadel's design heavily around the gorgeous stones to maximize power and it's availability within the structure. Because of this, the capital city of mages is often aglow with life and power, quite literally. With a nearly limitless, massive supply of mana in the city, most mages call it home simply out of convenience.

As final notes regarding the Magickal class of Tempestia, it is to be noted that there exist those outside the constraints of natural magickal ability. Those who do not need a mana source, be it living or personal, in order to tap into rather impressive energies. The avatars, living creatures made by the will of the gods themselves, can forge magick out of nothingness. They wield a power that is un-matched by mortal hands, and are made up solely of their own magickal energies that no mage has, to date, successfully tapped into (Though this shall likely be exploited in one of my stories down the way). They exist at the whim of the gods and goddesses, and their life forces may be extinguished EXCLUSIVELY by the hands of their creator-gods, and no others. They are an ageless, undying species who can take on any form they want upon birth, often favoring anthromorphic forms, such as the well-known Cerula, wolfess (Avatar) of storms and rain. If un-wanted, the avatars simply cease to be. However, an avatar can, under the busy eye of their god, go forgotten and live solely how they choose. In the event, of course, that they are, indeed, forgotten. Avatars can destroy other avatars in cataclysmic battle, but never in recorded history has an avatar been slain by mortal hands, regardless of their number of challengers. Unfortunately, the avatar Durra has been known to take advantage of this fact from time to time and has yet to be punished by his creator-god, Exhelm.

Magick stones seem to be more readily located in the north and west, the corroded and de-forested regions of the southeast having lost their mana presences long ago, either sold for profit, or destroyed in calamity. However, those of the steam nation (Name to be decided later) have no need for such crystals, favoring their technologies instead, a society housed around the power of machine, man, and steam. They know not of electricity, but have still harnessed the power of steam to craft their own airships and steam-weapons. More and more advances into steam-tech are being developed all the time.

The steam nation has taken up residence on a large island in the southeast portion of Tempestia that is almost entirely the mass of an old, forcibly-dormant, volcano. The residents took to a huge project centuries ago and cleared the volcano entirely, leaving nothing but a ten foot thick shell of rock around what soon became a sprawling volcanic city. The lava was removed and repressed, and a tunnel was dug out to the mainland for underground access, a port city on the mainland being an extension of the city within the volcano. The only access outside of the underwater route is to fly via airship into a cut-out of one of the rock walls facing the port city outside. The airships may enter through a wide docking bay in the volcanic wall, or through the top of the volcano to land on the upper airstrips depending on where one's business happens to be taking them through the city. The underwater route leads to the lower levels, or the steam-works, where much of the steam is harvested from what remains of the volcanic energies. The wall entrance leads to the main city section, and the peak entrance is for the sky-city portion, a very beautiful overlook on the city sectors below with a view out to the ocean and the other towering structures nearby.

The two major cities, Diomundus, and the steam city, are often at odds with one another, but try to maintain an uneasy peace when it can be managed. Individuals from each nation also do some business with the tribal nations in the west that have their own unique supplies for things such as alchemy or herbology, or other medicines, but most people of each nation see the tribal villages as little more than savages that live off the land in their own crude ways. The tribal nations see it differently, and hence make no official ties, instead allying themselves with trusted individuals passing through or visiting.

Each nation it's own powers and benefits, and other sub-nations to note as well, but these three are the ones to be particularly aware of and understand. Each has sky power of their own, steam with airships, magick with their own uniquely-powered vessels, and the tribal nations with their flying beasts. And, of course, each nation has their own ground versions of transportation as well. No one sect has a greater advantage in life than the others, so they all work to co-exist, though this is not always the case. Weapon-wise, tribals favor spears and bows, whereas in steam society, steam-powered pistols and guns are the norm, and the mages do not trifle with weapons for the most part, favoring their spells and such.

I am off this morning on my way to see my mate in person for the first time. It's a nerve-wracking experience MOSTLY due to the fact that I have not, in my memory, ever flown on a plane before. Apparently I did back when I was one, but fuck if I remember that at ALL. xP That said, I've checked in for my first plane and am in the process of waiting for it to board now... figured I had 30 minutes to kill, so why not come tell you all about my feelings/emotions and the like. x3 So! Again, nervous as hell... and frankly, quite surprised the plane isn't a bit bigger. *Peers out the window at it and shakes head before continuing* At any rate, nervous, but... feeling very safe and comfortable, which is nice. Well... with the exception of this damn coat. *Tosses it* Feck Winter, mang. I ASSUME it shall be warmer down in Texas, but we shall see. x3 At any rate, a BIT anxious to meet my mate face-to-face, in spite of the fact that we Skype video call on a relatively regular basis and talk via it daily. Not a LOT of surprises in my future, I imagine, but... gods know he's gonna surprise me more than once during my visit. xP Anyways! Okay, so... I'm an art whore. Period. And it's really awesome when people you know are holding raffles or other free opportunities for art. But you see... here is where I find my dilemma... I log in... checking my stuff as per the norm... only to find I have approximately 20 journal entries from people... a risk you take when you end up +Watching a whole shitload of people to enter raffles, I guess... But of those approximately 20 journals at least 14 of them were MORE raffles opportunities with MORE people I don't know and could really kinda care less about. x.x;; What's more is that 3 or 4 of those journals were multi-raffles. Like... someone collected a few raffles going on and pasted them to one journal so they only had to make one journal for access to like... five raffles. So... the madness ensues. And you know what? Much as I love free art... I think I'm going to stop entering raffles unless they're being held by an artist I actually KNOW and give a damn about.

There it goes again... doing alright... minding my own business and BAM... mother comes down on me as she ALWAYS FUCKING DOES. *Sigh*

So here's the story THIS time... we had ourselves a lovely little blizzard night before last... needless to say EVERYTHING was snowed in yesterday and the roads were shit. That said, I was STILL expected to go to work. Well, originally anyway. *Sighs again* So I called in to see if they needed me because of crap weather, they said it was up to us, so I opted out. Sorry, I was already feeling sick (Still kinda am) and to drive what is ORIGINALLY a 45 minute trip to work and another back again in THAT!? Fuck that. I pass. Which they said was fine, and my mother agreed with. So... APPARENTLY my mother is monitoring EVERYTHING that happens on the home phone at ALL times. That said, work called today to ask (This being a time I would have to leave right then and there if I wanted to make it) if I wanted to come in today to work the time missed yesterday. My opinion on it? Fuck no. Not fond of my job to begin with and now you're asking me to make up OPTIONAL time today that I didn't take on yesterday? My day off? When I have to be BACK in at 8 AM TOMORROW AS WELL!? No. Fuck you guys. Not doing it. That said, my mother, monitoring the phone as she apparently does, realized there was a call to the house from my work, even though I erased the message AND deleted the called ID ( She still has a phone in her room I cannot access because she feels some disturbing need to lock her door every fucking day. -_- ). Anyways... I had FINALLY forgotten about the day off and them calling when she comes home and, not long after, apparently CHECKS her phone... finds out work called... I tell her what happened... and she FUCKING BLOWS UP ON ME. Apparently I must be working every possible hour I can every fucking day so she can milk my paycheck for even more.

To those who don't know, I have a large, inane debt to my mother for everything under the sun, because she can't just be a SUPPORTIVE parent... it's all about the dollar signs. Everything I do is charged to my bill with her. : / Since I haven't been working (Unfortunately) it has wracked up quite the debt. That said, she has, in the past, during these very circumstances, taken all of my paycheck money save for what I need for gas to get back and forth... so I really don't stand to benefit from working any extra hours... she is the only one that does. : / *Sighs heavily and curls up* So it's frustrating, ya know? To work this job... to earn HER money at a job I HATE... only to continue to be berated and scolded DAILY it's... it's just a lot beyond what I can handle. : / I can't WAIT for the opportunity to get out of here, even if just for a couple days, to go see my Thareal... being here... I swear to the GODS is killing me slowly... and has been for YEARS... if it weren't for him... I just... I can't promise I'd be going on. I have good friends... and I care for all of you... but... I just hate this card I've been dealt in life... my mother... is HONESTLY the bane of my existence... and I fully plan to sing songs of joy at her funeral... my favorite, and perhaps family favorite to all, regardless of it perhaps being in bad taste, would be 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead'. Seriously. Gods? End her. Please. I'll do anything.

So! At the urging of a certain purple dragon, I have been asked to let you all know that I've got myself a job now. :3 The Interview (Which got bumped back to Thursday since I couldn't find the place Tuesday and was running low on gas) went smoothly, I was leading the questioner, answering the questions in such a way that they would segue into the next question. It was pretty awesome, and the questioner and I got on pretty well. In the end, I got the job. I get to go in on Monday for training. In fact, I believe it will be all week long. :3 What's better still is that they're more than okay with my going to visit :12eku: during the New Years time. I couldn't be happier that, not only do they want me, but they want me enough to even let me miss a day of training because of my visit to him! ^w^ Yup... things are DEFINITELY looking up. I just hope it stays this way. <333

As the title suggests, I have a job interview in just a couple hours. I'm really hoping I get this job for a myriad of different reasons. Just... SO many reasons... x.x;; I am doing EVERYTHING I can to get it, including some research into my prospective company. Not sure if it will help or even be relevant, but gods am I praying for the best. Okay... not LITERALLY praying cuz I don't do that, but... my fingers are crossed harder than they've ever been. Seriously guys... wish me luck... Imma need it. x.x;;

As the journal says, if you give her the name she picks for the character, there is plans to have a tasteful, yet sexy, Christmas piece done up with said character, and the character you own of your choosing. :3 Figure it's worth a shot for any of ya to get in there and throw in your suggestions. :3 Best of luck to all who try out. ^w^

That said, I was planning to draw up my Alunis. However, I might try a hand at one or two of you watchers as well for the sake of variety. I promise you it will not be great. It will NOT be grade A art. But it WILL be free! 8D So! If you guys could post here with refs, that would be awesome. Hell, spread the word by journal if ya like... might make it an incentive by meaning it ups your chances of getting your character drawn up to pimp this journal. Again, I don't know how many, or how long it will take. But post away, and I shall do with them what I can. Drawing shall begin tomorrow, and shall finish once I am fed up with trying. xD Let's improve my skills together! 8D
