Posted 11 years agoI know it's not December 25th yet, but here in Finland, the 24th day is usually the bigger day of Christmas celebration, with all the family reunions and Christmas present sharing. Fundraising for a short animated WG movie? (IMPORTANT)
Posted 11 years agoThis might come right out of the blue, but I'm just curious to know... If I were using, let's say, patreon.com to accept donations, who would be willing to pay me and become a patron (monthly donator with the sum of your own choice) for at least a year?
I've had this passion for creating furry animations for quite some time now, and I have plans for a 15 to 20 minutes long, animated short film about weight gaining. No dialog, just the animation, music and sound effects (which I can create all myself). The story is about this young, relatively slim guy, who gets a job from a local gym as an assistant. While enjoying his job, cleaning places and taking care of the equipment in the gym, some of the beefier customers can't help but to notice how much of a sweet tooth the new employee is. Because of this, customers start to bully him by dumping all their energy drinks to him and sneakily feeding him with treats, perhaps more than what he can chew. While this kind of bullying keeps going on week after week, and as our hero of the story starts to plump up a bit, making him feel somewhat depressed and worried, one of the customers (second main character) is slowly starting to show affection to him and his new figure. From there on, they start to getting to know better with each other, hang out more together, having dates and creating plans for their future. The plans are mostly concerning the ways how the hero of ours could fatten up even more and even faster, as he's starting to feel more confident about the whole gaining situation, thanks to his new friend. After a year of working in the gym, both of the main characters stop going in there, as our hero has become too fat to carry on with his job any longer, and his partner in love has also started to show signs of roundness on his waist. And that's the story in a nutshell. ^^
So that's the basic idea for the story. This is something I would love to work on with my time, but without backing up my financial income, there's no way in hell that my free time alone will be enough to make this happen. This is something I would work on as my full time job if I'm being payed. One year of time in total, five days a week, eight to ten hours per day depending on how inspired I am. That would be my schedule plan for all this. I don't necessarily need money for new equipment or anything like that. It's all just to pay my rent, bills, loans and groceries while working on this. If I would get about 1,500 USD per month, that is more than enough for me to make a living out of. And considering what's the average wage for animator, that's basically nothing.
Really, the only problem that I have with this whole project is the fact that I don't have any kind of "proof of concept" to show you. At least, not for now. I know how animation works and I have the tools for creating one but I haven't done animation production this big ever before. So, as one of my friends told me when we discussed about this, the project is a bit of a leap of faith to back up in it's current state. I can't guarantee you anything about the quality of final product just yet, but I'm aiming to draw everything in the fully colored and shaded style that I'm used to do and that you all are familiar with. But if proof of concept is absolutely needed, I'll whip up something as quickly as possible. Game Grumps animated, perhaps?
Luckily I'm not in a hurry with this fundraising. For now, I'm just testing the waters in here to see whether this project is worth the effort or not. At its earliest, I would probably start accepting donations on December 2014, but that is something I shouldn't think of just yet. I want to hear from you guys first what're you thinking of all this.
Here's how I've thought about the funding itself. With different amounts of monthly donations, you'll get different prizes:
If you become a donator for twelve months and pay me 1-4 dollars on each month, you'll get your (nick)name in the ending credits of the film.
Donate 5 dollars per month, I'll draw a still picture of your fursona and plant it somewhere within the movie. It can be a poster, billboard, magazine cover or something else like that.
Donate 10 dollars per month, I'll give your fursona a one scene cameo role in the movie as a background character.
Donate 25 dollars per month, I'll give your fursona a one scene cameo role in the movie as a character that's interacting with at least one of the two main characters.
Donate 50 dollars per month, and I'll draw your fursona as one of the gym bullies or the manager of the gym, the next best thing right after the leading roles.
Donate 100 dollars per month and I'll draw your fursona as one of the two main characters of the film.
And as a bonus goal; if we reach the total donation amount of 3,000$/month, I'll add a sex scene in the movie including our main characters doing it. Whether it's gay or straight sex, and our main donators are okay with it, I'll do it! Just to challenge myself a bit.
The prices may be high, but this is an animation after all. I have to draw _a_ _shit_ _ton_ of art (sketches, inks etc.) to make this work. I feel the amounts that I'm asking for are quite acceptable.

I Created a Tumblr. Blog!
Posted 11 years agoYes, I noticed how FA was down for a couple of days because of those DDoS attacks, but this is not about that. Or... maybe it is, in a way. While the site was offline, I was honestly feeling a bit lonely as I was drawing art and beside my Weasyl account (which nobody really follows) I have no proper ways of sharing it to my fans in the case of emergency. I'd also like to have a try with the ways of social media to keep in touch with other furs. I mean sure I have a Facebook account, but that one I'm never going to share with any furs, for obvious reasons. Yet, I want to have a somewhat same kind of channel for furs only, so Tumblr. is a go, I suppose.
This is not supposed to be one of those "I'm leaving FA for good!!" kind of journals. I just hate it how narrow my current network of art sharing has become. After all, we are living the days of social media and spreading art has never been this easy. I'm going to give Tumblr. a change, 'cause I kinda like the way how it works. Now I only wish more people would follow me there.

Posted 11 years agoSome of you might have noticed that I've once again been a bit inactive during the past few months. I mean, I do keep going on and off every once in a while with my art activity and during the past few years this is somewhat normal behavior from me. After all, I'm a college student and that stuff keeps me busy sometimes. But since I've had a couple of commissioners waiting for some art from me (thankfully no money transactions has been done yet), I feel like I should give you an explanation why I haven't been able to do any art recently. And believe me, I have very good reasons for my "lackiness" this time.
Two things that I'd like to discuss about:
1.) I've been working on my thesis for the last three months or so. It's been the one and only project for me that's been preventing me from graduating. It's been on my mind for well over a year now, causing a lot of unnecessary stress on me. I wasn't able to make much of a progress on it because I kept working on some other, minor things with my free time that weren't too relevant for my studies. So I had to ignore everything else and focus 100% only on this task. I guess it was worth it, I was finally able to finish the job and take part in our school's thesis seminar (not sure if that's the correct term for such an event, but whatever). I had my presentation and I can pretty much leave it all behind now. One thing less to worry about.
2.) About a month ago, I got a phone call from my doctor. I had taken part into some experiments (ordinary blood tests) because of a possible case of hemophilia that I may have. While they weren't able to find any symptoms of that kind of disease, they did notice that my blood sugar was extremely high and came into an obvious conclusion that I now have a diabetes. I had to spend the next nine days in a local hospital and get some insulin treatment in order to get my blood sugar back to normal. It's a type 2 diabetes, so currently I'm only having some pills for a medication. No need for syringes/injections.
If you're feeling sorry for me, then please don't. I feel like I have this new situation quite well under control. It's not affecting in my life all that much, I'm doing fine. Really, the only thing that annoys me about all this is the fact that I had to spend nine days in the hospital. That took a lot of precious time out of my thesis writing process. I mean, I had my laptop with me in the hospital so I could've write my thesis in there too, but I couldn't focus on the job in such an environment. I was not helping that I had a couple of hobos as my roommates during the nine days I spent there. They couldn't stop smelling nor talking! But I'm back on my track now.
So, that's all I wanted to talk about today. I can't say that there's been too much or too many things going on in my life, but the few things that's been occurring are quite heavy ones. They had definitely affected to my free time and capability of drawing any art. I guess now I have to start sending PMs to those who I've discussed with about commissions that haven't been finished yet, to find out whether people still want 'em or not.
With all that being said, Happy Easter to everyone!

I wanted to have something different for a specie of my character. Back when I joined (and I guess things are still pretty much the same way) there were just way too many foxes/canines/felines out there. So I wanted to have a character that would stand out from the crowd easily. There weren't too many gators back in 2007 in FA. I personally can think of only one,

I was also thinking about picking a tiger as my species back then. But I quickly came into realization that those stripes aren't that easy to draw on a paper on the character, especially for a rookie artist. So I dropped it there and went with something easier.

Nah, I think he's way fatter than me in real life. Such a porky! :-P
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
Yeah, he has. Though, sometimes I like to act a bit dumber than what I really am when I'm talking with other furs (possibly when having an rp). You know, the typical fatty behavior from various animations. Goofy and clumsy.

Yes.
Does your fursona look like you at all?
I don't think so. Though, we both don't have much of a hair on our heads.

I had this idea of my sona coming from the sewers much like Ninja Turtles does, causing ruckus and trouble of many kinds in the city. But after realizing how good (and fattening) the life can be on the surface, he decided to calm down, not to return back to underground and ever since been hanging with other furs, destroying only buffet restaurants ever since.
...but yeah, there's nothing on a paper about that story. It's all only in my mind.

He's not mated. But if/when that happens, it would be the real life mate of mine.

Opening for more commissions
Posted 12 years agoThis time on a more serious level.
I came into a decision that I'd want to start saving some money in order to travel around Europe (later on maybe even America) later on in my life, meeting with other (fat) furs and whatnot. Maybe also start looking for that special someone to get together some day. Since I'm unemployed at the moment, my only option to gain money is to draw some art. And I need your help with that.
Let's stick with the 30$USD price tag per picture, but this time I will do all the steps, from sketching to inks, colors and shades. Hell, I can even throw two characters in one picture if wanted to. More than that, and more complex background than just a simple colouring, we'll negotiate about the price.
Give me a comment/note if you're interested. Every single commission makes me a bit closer to my goal. Also if you can spread the word around, that would be superb. ♥
I came into a decision that I'd want to start saving some money in order to travel around Europe (later on maybe even America) later on in my life, meeting with other (fat) furs and whatnot. Maybe also start looking for that special someone to get together some day. Since I'm unemployed at the moment, my only option to gain money is to draw some art. And I need your help with that.
Let's stick with the 30$USD price tag per picture, but this time I will do all the steps, from sketching to inks, colors and shades. Hell, I can even throw two characters in one picture if wanted to. More than that, and more complex background than just a simple colouring, we'll negotiate about the price.
Give me a comment/note if you're interested. Every single commission makes me a bit closer to my goal. Also if you can spread the word around, that would be superb. ♥

Posted 12 years agoI might as well let it all out... I'm getting kinda broke. That is the major reason why I've been feeling miserable lately. I've been looking for a job for a month now, so far I've managed to have only one job interview which led me nowhere. I'm still looking for a job, but just to ensure I'm not running out of cash in the middle of everything and I can pay my rent for the summer, I guess I'll have to figure out some other ways of earning money. And because I have a lot of free-time now (no studies going on) which can be dedicated for drawing, I'll ask you this:
How many of you, dear +watchers, would be interested to give me commissions?

Posted 14 years agoYep. Now there's another change to be part of my next picture. This time there's no restrictions about character's body type and I'm going to choose more than just one. I'm going to ask only one question:
Who wants to go dine with me to the nearby hot dog stand?
If you think you can give me a positive response to that question, keep posting those references. This time I'm also going to give more time. Let's say... after 12 hours, I call it and pick those who pleases me the most (not sure if I'm going to reveal the lucky winners right away).
Edit: Twelve hours has passed, but I still haven't decided who or how many of you are going to join me. I guess I'll find that out once I start doodling. This'll probably take a while before I'm finished, so be patient.

Must be also a fatfur fan, but not a fatty character itself (we already have filled the role of fatso ^^;;). It's a non-mature picture, so no worries about being part of anything too kinky or anything.
