The Secluded Life
Posted 17 years agoI've found that a good strategy to use to productively output on a regular basis is to isolate myself a significant amount. I still look at submissions in the evenings, though I regulate what I take in (this particularly affects reading, as I don't want to clutter my mind too much).
But, if I'm not as communicative, that's the reason. This affects every portal of communication I use, but I figured I should post a notice here so I have an excuse not to feel guilty about written attention (or lack thereof).
Perhaps another two weeks is enough to get things done here, and I'll get back to being accessible and chattery. You'll likely look back fondly on the relative quiet then.

I Don't Mind Electricity
Posted 17 years agoAt the rate I'm going, sadly, I pretty much think that 95% of the music I've recorded a quarter of a year back is extremely.. inadequate. This phenomenon is one of the reasons it's been taking far more time than it should to get things done. See, by the time I'm halfway in a project I'll already start tossing songs out that are done and trying to write new ones to replace them. Thus setting off an endless circle.
One of the problems with being just by yourself.
This is the reason there's so much acoustic stuff out there (see the scraps I've recently added and the sketch album I released in June) while I do think my music shapes itself much more favorable on my Telecaster. I think it has something to do with downpicked power chords sounding not as intense as they should on an acoustic guitar.
But there you have it, one of my curses in a slightly inflated nutshell.

Everything's Better!
Posted 17 years agoMore beautiful, more engaging! I have all the colours again!
Isn't that just a lovely bit of closure right there?

'Special' Art
Posted 17 years agoThis isn't surprising. FA looks silly in 16 colours. But art in itself does too. Even pencil sketches look like weird abstracts half of the time. I had no idea how easy it is to make abstract art just by altering the colourscheme. But now I do.
But, unfortunatly, the intended artistic images don't really reach me, which makes it a tough matter to look at submissions by my favorite artists - let alone go browse for ones I don't know yet (without my brain to pick it apart and imagine what the pictures really look like). But I'll go drop by my brother's place a couple of times just for the artistry. Really. I'm that dedicated!
So, what am I saying here? I'm basically in a state of time-delay, where I'm released from limbo every once in a while, and otherwise am stuck doing silly party-competitions. So.. errr.. keep that in mind.

Photos From My Trip and Such
Posted 18 years agoWell, I'm sorry. I seemed to have forgotten all about you. My dearest, most beloved 2nd place journal. Why didn't I beautify you with a link to my travel report earlier?

There, there you go. With all the photos the lovely furries could ask for, and probably more. Scenery, sports, magic, warhammer, booze and foxplushies.

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
Posted 18 years ago*ahem* once I locate a scanner (or get home) much new sketchy travel art will be submitted. And if I get the opportunity, I'll even respond more elaborately to queries and check out people's no-doubt fabulous art. I'd like to be a bit more courteous, but I'm simply too busy having fun. Currently I'm in the realm of the finnish folk, and to keep things on-topic, it's extremely inspiring. I might even get around to recording a little song on-site. Upcoming sites will include the pathway to germany and a few places there as well. Possibly some other places as well.
Finally, I hope everyone's doing as well as I am. Let the art run free and tumble around your creative juices in your lovely brainpanels!

The Europes Will Taste the Wrath!
Posted 18 years agoFor my presence will contaminate various locations on my trip. I'll be abroad for a month and engaged in various travels to maintain that status.
Stay tuned for random 'n foreign pseudo-artsy updates, and if possible, enjoy a nice summer yourself (if it's approaching winter, you have my permission to enjoy it too!).

Less Bleak, More Bleach
Posted 18 years agoI see the best April Fools jokes are the ones that last long past a single a day.
Yes..
Artistically I'm at the point where I'm about to reveal a more 'serious' side of me. To some this may come as a shock - if you're expecting only cute animals and countryside backgrounds or a collection of seemingly random objects there for the purpose of abstract interpertations of reality. Currently, as a good example, I'm drawing a picture that features blood and exposed genitalia. It's not a sexual piece, but I'm a big fan of treating these things like they're nothing special.
Sexuality to me, is all about intent and individual interpertation.
Music-wise I'm not quite ready to return yet, which in turn makes me turn to other methods of expression - when my instable mind allows it - but I do have a song in the works that also makes sense in the confines of this overelaborate journal post.
It's lyrics include 'ties' of multiple kinds, semen, destruction and mythological hellbent creatures. All in the context of a dead-serious song.
Stay cool everyone, there's no sugarcoating but what we make ourselves.

Update on the Previous Entry
Posted 18 years agoI'd better update here as well, as I know of at least a few who don't read my 'real' journal. Okay, that month thing is about up now, almost, so what gives? I've got radial nerve damage, so, assuming it ever recovers, I will be out of comission for half a year.
Half a year's a pretty long time, so, that means you won't see any fresh art or so here. Fortunatly, I'm not good enough to have people watching over my back and weeping when hearing this.
I'll probably dig up some more old improvised songs to post here, just to seem busy. I don't have much to do these days, except be occupied by the constant pain.. so it helps to do even this much.
I hope I'll get back to the guitar and pencil in summer.

Hospital Blues
Posted 19 years agoI just returned home from the hospital, and so I figured I'd put some notice up here as well. It's annoying to type the same tale, one-handedly, twice so I'll just put a link to my LJ here and call it a day.

Updates are on hold as my arm needs at least a month to get back into near-regular working order.
Oh, and I love you all good furry freakjobs! You were probably in my mind at some point, though I've had difficulties remembering such details from the past week worth of trauma/recovery/accidentery.

Hi There
Posted 19 years agoSo, now I've settled into my account here and everything's just so great from up here. I can look down on all two people without accounts who are looking at this page and it just makes me laugh when they don't want to invest in the time and effort to register themselves needlessly! Hah!
Just a quick notice, because it's apparently a frequently made mistake, my MSN username is not an email address I actually use. It's just.. kind of there. Email should be directed to shadeatsilver-wiredotorg instead. Or, you can write imaginary mail to the hotmail addy, if you prefer. As long as you also imagine that my replies are wittier than your messages.. I'd see it as a big favor.
Yips and greetings,
-Shade
