So Weasyl may not be the best choice...
General | Posted 2 years agoFor a new gallery. Weasyl as a site is pretty much a ghost town I forget exists half the time. It was kind of a spur of the moment choice that I am changing my mind about. I'll keep the stuff I've already upload there, but it may not actually end up being my final posting location after all. As far as sites that I am actually somewhat active on... Itaku is currently the main one I'm actively using, but I should get around to actually posting on it soon. Nothing in the gallery yet as of me posting this journal, but I'm planning on putting at least some of the newest stuff up there: https://itaku.ee/profile/javeloz
New Gallery Location and Where to Find Me!
General | Posted 2 years agoAs some of you may have already realized from my last journal I am moving my gallery OFF of FurAffinity, meaning I am DELETING ALL IMAGES from it starting TOMORROW (May 25th as of posting this journal)! If you are seeing this on May 26th, you may still be able to find my old art on an archive site for FurAffinity, but sorry about anything you can't find.
I can't bother moving my entire gallery over there, but I moved some of it before my fingers started to hurt from reposting so much. I'll be posting any new images that I do post on Weasyl!

I also have the alternative of Twitter that I may or may not actually end up posting things to, but it is a place I will make my voice heard if needed. Expect most of it to be me retweeting art and/or porn I like though: https://twitter.com/Javeloz_Sspark

Some people think the new policy is not a big deal- but.....
General | Posted 2 years agoA lot of people are leaving for a good reason, especially people who have small fursonas (chihuahuas, corgis, mice, ferrets, etc) and prefer to have them REMAIN small/cute because it fits the design much better. Blanket bans and one size fit all policies do not work for these kind of things. It's like trying to put a glove that says "one size fits all" on a 6 fingered hand or even a foot. Banning EEVEES? MEWS? Saying that every SMALL species has to be "aged up" in appearance by giving them abs, pecs, or outright changing their species? So we have to apply HUMAN ANATOMY to a TALKING MOUSE now? This is FLO all over again.
My gallery is staying up for a few days as of posting this, but I am giving a warning: my gallery (including the more obvious larger species like Javeloz) is going to be CLEARED soon. My livelihood does not depend on my furry popularity, I don't have a career tied to furry art, and I primarily just want a place to document images of my characters and share my interest with others. I want a place I can socialize with furries who share my interest.
I won't be deleting my FA account, but I AM clearing my gallery of ALL images: dragon, bat, pokemon, or other. If this site ever decides to go back to having a sane policy about pokemon and cute characters I will return, but until then... and as much as I hate this site too, you can find me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Javeloz_Sspark

New FA Policy
General | Posted 2 years agoIs extremely vague, hurts people with small/short characters and assumes age not based off of actual age, mentality, presentation, intended age, etc but instead based solely off perceived age by the admins. Cute does not mean the characters are young. Stylistic preferences ARE a thing.
If this policy goes through I will be clearing out my gallery and leaving this site entirely. Their policy is not clear and definitely will not be enforced fairly.
I left several other sites due to them banning quadruped body types and characters under 4 feet tall, this site will just be another on that list.
Edit: I have not decided where I will be posting from here on out. I would rather not make IB or Twitter my main gallery, but my hand may be forced if I can't find a better alternative. I will TRY to post where I am moving to once I have decided... assuming they haven't decided to ban me before I even say where I'm moving to.
Edit 2: FA trying to cover their obvious mistakes with a "clarification" does not defeat that fact that this can STILL be enforced arbitrarily based off an admin's perception of a character. It's like they don't understand the problem at all.
I recommend people save whatever they care about from my gallery. I have no clue what FA staff think they are doing. This is a horrible decision.

Yet another Minecraft Journal
General | Posted 3 years agoSo there is no point in fully leaving minecraft entirely when it is still able to be modded, I was being petty but I still think they're in the wrong with the reporting system. I'm still playing but with no chat reporting mods on. Sadly I can't just mod out that VRC banned mods.
I was honestly thinking about starting my own Minecraft server right before this whole thing with the global account ban chat report system went down. At this point? I'm mixed on the idea, but I don't think that I will outright quit playing Minecraft. I'll still play it multiplayer with a group of close friends at the very least. I uninstalled it out of frustration with the whole situation, but as of right now? As long as mods are allowed, I can mod a solution to the problem.
On a semi-related note, the new Minecraft Mob Vote is coming up again. As poorly as it went last time and as much as I disagree with the system of the voting for a mob to begin with, at least the Allay (eventually) got properly implemented after it won.
For those who want to see the 3 mobs (in the order they appeared, which happens to also be the order of my preference this time around):
1 Sniffer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPJ2dzVcOgg
2 Rascal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NXbtp9uhOI
3 Tuff Golem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EYP3_yRD1k
Personally I'm voting for the Sniffer, though the Rascal seems like a good secondary option as I like the idea of the mini game. The Tuff Golem is the most disappointing out of the 3 as it only serves the function of an item stand or an armor stand, but is even less useful than either of those. The Sniffer is an "ancient mob" which actually has quasi-lore implications, and it looks a lot like an Appletun or a 6 legged dog-dinosaur and gives new plants which sound like they will actually serve a function.

Well, first Minecraft, now VRChat
General | Posted 3 years agoWhat's with big companies and making decisions against the wishes of majority of their users lately?
A major portion of VRChat used mods for years. Many games THRIVE with mods. I'm pretty sure Minecraft Java Edition would be dead without mods, especially after their recent madness in spite of their own community. See my previous journal if you want to know more about the Minecraft situation and why I say it is entirely reliant on mods now to be playable in multiplayer whatsoever.
A long time ago VRChat updated their Terms of Service to include a thing about mods being against their Terms of Service. People mostly ignored it, a few got scared and stopped using modded clients. Others couldn't stop using mods due to various reasons, from simple performance improvements for lower end computers, to full on necessity for people with physical disabilities. The ironic thing was many staff members used mods themselves and ignored their own terms of service.
VR Chat managed to thrive despite the slow rollout of these changes from the actual game. VR Chat does not have things such as Speech to Text built into the base game, nor does it have a way to customize your menu layout or have it face you when you are laying down. There are SO many reasons to mod the game.
...but here we are now, with an update that entirely kills modding, kills your performance on your computer and has way too much access to information on your computer than it should have. Easy Anti Cheat (EAC) is an extremely poorly written system and it is so poorly written that I refuse to even run the game anymore.
You can check out their official twitter post for more information about it https://twitter.com/VRChat/status/1.....29026799730688 but I think the comments on the thread say more than the actual post does. Oh, also while you're at it feel free to check out the current reviews of the game on the official Steam reviews and compare overall over recent reviews.
...with that said! ...I am moving to play Chillout VR (as soon as their servers calm down a bit- currently so many people are making accounts their servers are crashing)

The Death of Minecraft?
General | Posted 3 years agoMojang (and more so Microsoft) is overstepping their boundaries with the WORST decision they've ever made, and this is coming right after they ignored the community on several other issues over the last 2 years. From scrapping features, to breaking promises, to just flat out ignoring everyone and shifting blame (fireflies and birch forests anyone?). Microsoft started out improving the game at first after they initially purchased it, but now they're going down a rabbit hole of hurting their player base and ignoring every bit of input from their users.
They now have a set of community guidelines that supersede server moderation.
How would you like to have your entire account banned from EVER playing online again over something that got misconstrued as offensive or because someone didn't understand a joke with only like 10 people on 1 server? Or maybe they didn't get an inside joke and got angry and that was all it took?
If you got banned from the server you'd normally go "well damn, guess I should watch what I say- or maybe just go to another server where people don't care and just play with only my friends"
That won't be an option anymore though.
Yes, I am not joking. Private server owners are no longer going to be able to control who can or cannot join after this coming update, and people will now be permanently banned because enough players reported them to Microsoft's new automated all encompassing moderation system (which about 99.9% of the community hates after realizing what it means). We already have enough issues from servers like Hypixel where their false bans go off left and right, and player moderation is so much more effective when it is done on a small scale. It is LITERALLY the reason I refuse to join servers like that.
Please let private server owners moderate their own servers. Everyone has a different idea of what is considered hate speech, and furthermore adult only anarchy servers do exist where people shouldn't have to worry about their speech at all. It's been made abundantly clear the community as a whole hates this idea. Let people be shitheads and get banned on a server level. Don't overstep your reach here Microsoft... for a game that has been alive for around 14 years or so without this feature.
Griefers can re-write their own messages to completely change the context of someone else’s. Servers can completely edit any message sent to them and make the fake look legit. The "unable to be faked" thing they keep saying about messages due to their new chat system is a complete lie, and it's already been tested and proven.
Please use the feedback site if you're able: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/e.....eport-feature-

Another Minecraft Journal: What is Mojang doing?
General | Posted 3 years agoMinecraft community is upset and Mojang refuses to accept that the criticism from the community is valid.
They shouldn't show concept art AT ALL if they don't make it abundantly clear that it isn't even planned to be included. Players want fireflies, biomes and renewable Allay.
Most game companies realize this simple fact: Show concept art AFTER it is confirmed to either BE there or NOT be there, not when you're at an uncertain time in development.
Minecraft IS profitable even if this update is "free" it is keeping the game active. I don't know if this is Microsoft putting too much pressure to get things done fast or if it is their PR team telling them to ignore community feedback. Microsoft owns Minecraft for a reason.
Edit: Allay are actually going to be renewable in 1.19.1 or 1.19.2 ("Allay Duplication" with Amethyst)

Another Minecraft Journal: Why aren't Allay Renewable?
General | Posted 3 years agoI figured they would at some point at some way to breed Allay, or maybe create more of them in another way (EX: "curing vexes"), but there has been no signs from them so far and they are already in late stages of 1.19. The Allay is the MOST important feature of this update to be renewable, especially on older worlds or larger servers where people are gonna have to compete over the finite supply of them. The Allay is a utility mob you can very easily lose due to bad RNG or it simply flying into lava while following after a player.
I don't know how this doesn't have more upvotes but...

New Minecraft Mob Votes: My thoughts on the choices!
General | Posted 4 years agoSo now that all three mobs are revealed
Glare: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYIQsr9vsws
Allay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdxGwg7cgjw
Copper Golem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8MaEqA3jcw
We have some confirmation as to what each does, and personally Allay is my choice.
Glare: Finds dark spots, but we're already having a new lighting update that makes it so mobs only spawn at light level 0 unless they're in the nether or from a spawner block. All it does is detects light level 0 and makes a noise and angry face at the spot. My least favorite of the three.
Allay: Collects items from nearby, likely from chests and from the ground based off the description given. Useful for mob grinders as well as gathering items from outside your house after dawn to bring them back to you. Also works for filtering unstackable items and gathering items during dawn after skeletons, zombies, etc die outside in the sunlight. ALSO, it's cute and I wanna just have one as a friend around my house too. Adds new mechanics to redstone. "A hopper with AI and a filter that works for stackable items" My preferred choice of the three.
Copper Golem: Presses buttons randomly and based off the appearance likely also attracts lightning (literally has a lightning rod on the head). Does NOT actually fight like an iron golem. Dies over time, but CAN be waxed at any stage (slowing down with each until the final stage it "dies" until brought back). Does NOT add new mechanics to redstone, but is a more aesthetic way of doing a specific one (randomizing redstone signals). My second favorite of the three.
That being said, at least all three have a use this time that DOESN'T require killing them to get an item (like the glow squid...). Vote for what you want, because all three have uses! (Though I strongly suggest Allay ;D)
EDIT: ALLAY WON :D

Looking for a specific game I can't remember the name of....
General | Posted 4 years agoI'm looking for a specific game that I can't remember the name of... It's like Xbox or PS2 Era if I remember right, maybe XBOX 360? It's got a main character with a cursed energy sword weapon on their arm that slowly eats their life force, but you can fight enemies and have the sword eat their energy so it stops hurting you. There is a spirit dimension that you can go to any time, but automatically get sent to if your character dies as well. In the spirit dimension you can phase through glass and metal bars by walking up to them and pressing a button. You lose any special elemental upgrades your sword has when you die and go to the spirit dimension so you're discouraged from doing it unless you specifically need to do so for a puzzle. Sometimes things happen like some pillars get taller or shorter or things change shape in the spirit dimension and you can use that to get up to places that would be otherwise unreachable. Water also becomes intangible allowing you to walk along the floor of flooded areas.
The main world has elemental upgrades you can get, and once you unlock them you can swap between the elements at various nodes by inserting the energy sword into one of them and then the sword changes colors and properties.
Does this sound at all familiar to anyone?
Edit: Never mind, found the game! It was Soul Reaver

Axolotl In Minecraft! Cave Update! All the things!~
General | Posted 5 years agoThere is a lot to be hyped about for this update, probably more than any previous update. The addition of a new tamable underwater mob, the new light sources and vegetation, the new hostile mob underground, copper ore, marble among other new stones, a built in optifine-style-zoom, lightning rods, crystal geodes, many new underground biomes differing from surface biomes, etc. The early game mass storage bag in particular was what surprised me, they're like a downgraded shulker box you can use until you get access to normal shulker boxes. I feel like the storage thing was needed for a long time with the addition of so many variants of blocks that don't stack together at once!
That being said... AXOLOTLE <3!!! I am so happy about them, they are so cute and the bucket sprite makes them even cuter! They can even be tamed and carried with you, and there is so much to love about them!! <3333
The glow squid may have won over the one I wanted (Iceologer) but they will at least make the new underground ocean biome look rather atmospheric and more fun to explore!
https://feedback.minecraft.net/ perhaps we can convince them to add in the lost mobs in future updates through use of the feedback website! They pay more attention to this than many players may think.

Minecraft Mob Vote: My Take on the Mobs to Vote For
General | Posted 5 years agoGlow Squid: Pretty but doesn't actually produce light, it is only fake emissive light (glow without any actual light output). They only glow in the same way Enderman eyes do, which is to say... fake glow, not a light source. It adds no new functionality to the game. It is literally just a re-textured squid.
Moobloom: Pretty and has a cute interaction with bees. A pretty useless functionally. Drops same as cow. Leaves trail of flowers, but flowers aren't exactly how to come by in FLOWER FORESTS of all places. It adds no new functionality to the game.
Iceologer: Helps with blue ice bridges! Drops ice! They may also add additional things later that are related to their ice magic, but even with just a simple ice drop imagine how much easier grinding for blue ice bridges would be! For those worried about a "new phantom", keep in mind this only spawns in specific snow biomes and doesn't even have knockback. It won't push you off the mountains.
I honestly think that they could have easily added all of the above, but out of these options? Iceologer is my choice.
I'll take anything that isn't the useless Glow Squid. Moobloom would be my second choice if not Iceologer.
Edit: Glow Squid won. Definitely not my choice, but with the addition of underground oceans it could actually be a nice addition. Gotta look on the plus side.

Final Chance for Blackstone Renewability
General | Posted 5 years agoLooks like we're not getting this in 1.16, but possibly 1.16.1 if we keep at it?
For those of you who are hyped for the Nether Update and want to build some mystical looking castles out of this new material: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/e.....tone-Generator <- Because this stuff SHOULD be renewable, but isn't
Edit: So we didn't get the blackstone generator but 1.16.2 has it on piglin trades! So it is finally a renewable resource!

Blackstone Generator (Minecraft Feedback Vote)
General | Posted 5 years agoI managed to get the other thing I wanted (Gold Ore in the Nether) but then they added a new block type. I realize this is another Minecraft related post, so feel free to ignore it if you don't play the game. Blackstone (new material found in the nether) is my new favorite building material, but it is currently as of this snapshot non renewable. Basalt meanwhile has its own generator much like a cobblestone generator.
So for those of you who are hyped for the Nether Update and want to build some mystical looking castles out of this new material: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/e.....tone-Generator

If there is one feature I want added to the Nether Update that I feel is missing - it is this.
