Sexism in Twilight
General | Posted 16 years agoI just went to a meeting at Western Washington University about all the sexism in Twilight, etc. I have read the first book and am too afraid to read any more or watch the movies. The 2nd; New Moon does look better but not nearly enough. Even the effects even look quite ridiculous, lol.
How Bella is a wuss who lets herself be stalked and always taken care of. All the traditions of a stereotypical romance. No wonder I hear lots of mid aged ladies hype about it. I like True Blood even though I still have issues with it. at least Succy can kick some ass, lol. Also the false & lack of knowledge in the native werewolf tribe. she should have done her research if she was going to use a real tribe. Otherwise what is the harm in making one up?
As my watchers know I am one to love vampires and all my characters that I have had for over a decade. I am trying to get my comic series going and my next part is going to have vampire characters. I truly like to think tat my characters are so much more though. Vampires are just an extension of the human mind, a way to be immortal but with new tasks and difficulties. Their emotions often deepening over time, some handling it better then others. some want to live in society, some want to be violent and kill any human for their meal. most are probably in between.
Twilight is horrid about showing any variety. the 'good' ones want to go to high school for ever and the 'bad' ones are ferrel demons on a killing rampage. And all are after one silly puppet named Bella. sure she gets stronger in the series I hear but only under the shelter and help of a more sufficient man...
I just hope the world will be able to accept another vampire story after this catastrophe!

So far she has been correct in that everyone seems quite nice here. Thank you to those who are already watching me! I really do appreciate it!
I'm doing just a little journal for now but should be updating with more info soon enough.
Shortly, my true name is Shannon and I work at a print shop as a graphic designer and printer. this has helped my drastically in putting together my own projects and getting good rates when I print them-saves my broke ass! XD
someday I hope to use this to my advantage and get my own comic out.
