I first heard Casey Kasem on the radio in 1989 on Casey's Top 40 on 93.3 WSNE (Providence, RI). I listened off an on for the next several years before listening regularly to the show around 1996-97. Every week I would listen to his stories and wait to see which song made #1 each week.

I started keeping track of the Top 40 (particularly the top 20) starting in September of 1997 and have been keeping track ever since. That inspired me to create a music chart of my own in February of 1998 which I still update every week. When they decided to bring classic episodes of American Top 40, I would get up early to listen to them on Sundays then tune in to hear the current version.

When he handed over the reins of AT40 to Ryan Seacrest, I was sad but knew that he wouldn't host forever. Years later, I decided to go to Connecticut School of Broadcasting to become a DJ. My Goal? To become the next Casey Kasem. I'm not quite there yet, but someday I hope to be as well known on the air as he was. If not for him, I may not have been inspired to be on air and there would be no 'Shane's Lost Hits' right now.

Rest in Peace, Casey..you have finally reached the stars :)

What is the name of your fursona?

Shane Mackenzie LaFleur


Where did the name of your fursona come from?

Wanted a name that would seem the male equivalent to Sasha LaFleur (from the All Dogs Go To Heaven series of movies and TV show). I picked the name 'Shane' out of nowhere and it just seemed to fit.

An interesting note..I did a search for the name 'Shane' online and I found out that it has a connection to my RL name. The name 'Shane' is based on the Northern Irish (ulster) pronunciation of 'Shawn' which is the Irish variation of the name that known in England as 'John' which is my real first name.

The 'middle' name was a holdover from a Balto fan character that was supposed to the brother to Jenna. When that character fell by the wayside, I added the name to give Shane a full name.


What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?

Shane is a domestic canine.. a mix of both Irish Setter & Siberian Husky. I chose Irish setter because Sasha was one.. the husky part came from the Balto fan character that I decided to combine with the original Shane.


What color is your fursona and why?

Shane is mostly a deep shade of red with creamy coloration on the face and chest. The coloration is consistent with the original coloration of Sasha (noticing a pattern here? hehe) and the green eyes are mainly because green is my natural eye color.



What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?

Shane generally is more outgoing than I am and very friendly and loyal but has a bit of a goofy side that he keeps hidden most of the time. I tend to be more reserved IRL until I get to know people..then I open up and am more like him. Shane generally doesn't let things bother him..too much..unlike me.


What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you IRL?

My baseball cap...the main reason he wears one is because I'm almost never seen without one on my head. It's not because either of us is hiding something..we just really like wearing them :)


What is one thing your fursona would say to you if you could meet?

"You really need to get out there and show the world what you can do..don't be afraid of the unknown"


What is one thing you would say to your fursona?

"You have such wonderful, beautiful daughters..and did you know there's an otter girl staring at you with a dreamy look in her eyes right behind you?"


How has your fursona changed over the years?

When I originally created Shane, he was a four-legged purebred show dog with an overprotective, rich owner...he evolved into a family man (originally with lot of pups) and a wife. He was also originally Sasha's brother. Several years back, I switched him to an anthro character and added in a bit of husky (a holdover from my Balto fan character). I dropped the amount of pups he had to a more manageable 2 (tho the two I kept have the same colors and personalities as two of the original pups) and made him a single dad. The reasoning behind that is the original wife was a character owned by a very good friend of mine. There was a point I wanted to go in a more 'mature' direction with the character and I wasn't sure how my friend would feel if I used her character in those situations. Still working on what happened to his wife and mother of his pups.

I also dropped him from an ADGTH fan character to a more 'original' character to give myself a little more freedom when portraying him and the characters around him. He also went from very wealthy to more 'well off enough' so that his daughters will never go without.


How long have you had this fursona?

Shane has been around since 1996, right after the release of All Dogs 2. His first appearance online was in 2000 in a story that my friend (same one I mentioned earlier) wrote. The anthro (and mixed breed) form has been around for almost 10 years..I forget exactly when.


Would you like to be more like your fursona?

In many ways yes. I would like to be more independent and outgoing and be a bit better off financially. I would also love to be a father someday. But there is a lot of Shane in me. I'd like to think Shane would have the same wonderful friends that I've met along the way online.

Today is my birthday..this year it's my 35th! :)

Megaplex was so fun this year. I was excited long before because of the anticipation of meeting more Little Tales friends and I must say the the convention met and exceeded my expectations :) Not going to go into too much detail, just the basics of the weekend that was :)


Thursday (7/25) - The first day was so fun :) After arriving at the hotel, I met a familiar green hyena.. the wonderful  HollieHyena Around the same time I met the queen of shinies herself  Kittybird and her hubby along with FermentedSkunk and JadedFox and Jaezel (didn't recognize him with pants..hehe). While waiting for our other roommate, we went out to dinner at Sonny's where a great, hilarious time was had by all. Back at the hotel, I met my second roommate for that night  arisuvixen :) Soon it was registration time and while waiting in line, we met the overlord herself  Foxenawolf . Before getting my badge and my con goodies, I got a hug from the wonderful  Genesisw

After some downtime, I went with Hollie, Arisu, Fermented and Jaezel to bowling where we had a wonderful time! (I even bowled a strike in one frame)


Friday (7/26) - The next morning, there was a knock on the door of the hotel room.. it was none other than the wonderful  Beaglederp who I would be rooming with for the rest of the con. After a great breakfast at Denny's, Beagle got checked in and I moved my bags to his hotel room (right next to Hollie's) then went to a very brief Opening Ceremonies before bounding off to the Dealer's Den. I saw, Gen, Fox and Uriel and met CoyoteCanuck along with Merrihop who is an absoulte delight! :) The rest of the day flew by..I mostly hung out by Gen's table (where I got my wonderful Marina Badge, my amazing Jonas badge and year 5 of Little Tales), taking time out to go to Rhubarb's concert. After a bit of downtime, I hung out with several of the Little Tales crew in the lobby (Including Wolfteller, Uriel and Merri :)) The night ended with some Karaoke.. I sang two songs "Everybody's Talking" and "Overkill" and watched some fun performances before going back up to the hotel room to see my roommates (Beagle,  starallon and  sk-1 )


Saturday (7/27) After waking up and having some nummy breakfast, I went down to the Dealer's Den and hung out mostly by Gen's table. That day I met another member of the Little Tales family, the lovely  RosemaryTeatree :) Later on, I commissioned Foxena for a pic of my otter girl Marina then later in the day, I commissioned Gen to draw a postcard of Marina and picked up my commission from Fox :) After a bit of downtime later on, I hung out in the gaming room with Arisu, playing a round of Bubble Bobble on the NES. I went to the Fox Amore concert on Gen's recommendation and I'm glad I did..it was amazing! I was on my feet the whole time and even dance a bit towards the end. After that it was bedtime


Sunday (7/28) On Sunday I woke up with what seemed at the time to be a harmless toothache. Took a couple pills in the morning with breakfast then went down to head towards the Dealer's Den. I got to see Gen create my postcard that I had commissioned the night before! :) I was so pleased with the results..probably the cutest pic of my otter girl so far! :) As the afternoon went on tho, the pain in my jaw near my tooth got progressively worse. Before long I had to excuse myself and find a place to sit. The pain got so bad, I was in tears. I took some more pills later on and that seemed to make the problem better for a time. Beagle, along with Hollie, picked up some Anbesol while they were out in case the pain came back. Once the Dealer's den closed, I went back up to the hotel room to rest before the party. It was then that the pain flared up again. Blackwell suggested a remedy and Beagle asked if I needed anything and to call him if the pain got worse. Before they left for the party, Beagle gave me the gift that  Koichi18 had made for me. :) I put some of the anbesol on the affected area and tried Blackwell's remedy. After almost 2 hours of pain and more crying, the pain had subsided enough for me to go to the party :)

~The Party~ - I showed up late to the party and the pizza was already gone :( but there was still delicious treats and homemade soda. I finally got to meet the Rancourts (Dusty and Katya) and I must say they are even more awesome in person! :) Dusty's sodas were delicious (especially the root beer..will have to get that recipe!). The biggest treat at the party was when Gen offered to sit next to me for a little bit :) The party was so awesome and my only regret is that I wasn't there for the whole thing (darn tooth). Towards the end, I got a bottle of the delicious root beer. At the end, I got hugs from everyone before saying goodbye. Just like the streams, I was one of the last to leave the party..hehe.


Monday (7/29) Alas, all good things must end eventually. That morning I said goodbye to Blackwell before he left and packed up my bags. Luckily the pain from the previous day had lessened considerably. After leaving the room with Beagle, I sat back down in the lobby to hang out before catching my flight later on that day. I gave Beagle a big hug and I thought that was the last I would see of my friends at the hotel...but it wasn't. I found out from Beagle that Kittybird, Darggy, Wolfteller and Fermented were hanging out on the second floor so I decided to join them. Once up there, Beagle gave me a present.. two 45 Singles from the 80's! ('Twilight Zone' from Golden Earring and one my favorite 80's songs.. 'Pressure' by Billy Joel). After another hug, I said goodbye to Beagle before he left the hotel. After leaving my bags in Kittybird's hotel room, I joined her along with Draggy, Wolfteller and Fermented for a delicious and filling lunch at Chili's. Back at the hotel, I joined them back in their hotel room for a showing of 'The Hobbit'. Not too long later, I waved goodbye and hugged Teller before he left the hotel then watching the rest of the movie. When the movie was over, it was almost 5 and I had to go. I said goodbye to Kittybird, Fermented and Draggy before heading down to catch the 5pm shuttle to the airport. On the way out, I waved goodbye to the hotel and was on my way to catch my flight back to Boston.


It was sad to have to go, but I will always have very fond memories of my very first Megaplex :) A special thanks to Hollie for allowing me to room with her the first night and just being all around wonderful! :) A special thanks to Beaglederp for being so wonderful and for helping me out when I wasn't at my best on Sunday. I will never forget that! :) Special thanks to my other roommates Allon and Blackwell :) A special thanks to Arisu for gaming with me on Saturday. As for any additional information.
I do have Aspberger's so I am pretty shy and I may not make direct eye contact when I first meet someone so don't feel discouraged if I don't look at you directly at first. I can be somewhat sensitive, especially if something is frustrating me or if I'm extremely tired. I also can't tell sometimes if someone is joking with me.

Despite this, I will not use my condition as an excuse for any bad behavior so don't be afraid to call me me out if I try to.

Don't be afraid to talk to me tho *hugs* I am pretty friendly and be quite talkative once you get to know me and I'm comfortable.

Got a new (used) vehicle on Thursday :) It's a 2003 Toyota RAV4. Automatic, Power Windows/Locks, AM/FM/CD/Cassette, Power Sunroof (Yay!), Remote Car Starter (Double Yay!). Should be picking it up from the dealership today :)

After leaving work tonight and stopping for gas, I was on my way to join my dad and sister for a late dinner at my favorite Pizza place when I took a shortcut to get there. On the way, I accidentally missed a Stop sign at an intersection and didn't see someone coming down the cross street in time. :( I was OK (mostly bruises and soreness) and the people in the other car were ok, but my car, a 2000 Chrysler Concorde suffered heavy damage to the front and is likely totaled :(

Today is my 34th Birthday! :)

Helloo All :) I got back from Rocket City Fur Meet early Tuesday and I must say that I had a pretty good time. Despite being practically broke the whole weekend, I still managed to have a bit of fun. The staff at the con definitely did a remarkable job considering the circumstances. I salute them for keeping this wonderful convention running as smoothly as possible. :)

A special thanks to all those who made my weekend enjoyable and who helped me out before, during and after the con! :) I will always be grateful for them.

I will definitely plan better for next year's RCFM so that I can avoid many of the issues that I had this year (namely..save more money!..hehe)

I will definitely be at next year's RCFM and will most definitely get Booster Reg again :)

Got back from FWA on Tuesday and I must say I had a wonderful time :) A special thanks to everyone who made the con extra special for me!
