Signal-Boost: Kickstarter Campaign of Interest
General | Posted a year agoFeels like forever since I did one of these, but I figured it was important: for anyone who follows me and is interested in regular meditation, or especially learning about it, this is a super-neat campaign that you may be interested in: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/krishs/playne/ I've been using the Steam version for over a year now, and it's definitely helped me, so I'm also personally invested in the mobile version as well.

Update on MLP/Pathfinder Game (More Players Needed)
General | Posted 7 years agoSo, a month or so ago, I made a journal post mentioning a Ponyfinder game that I was planning to start... and we had some pretty good leads. Sadly, though... it looks like two of our players dropped out just before the first session was going to start, for various reasons. :( So, if there's anyone out there interested in MLP and Pathfinder (or even just Pathfinder), feel free to check out the entry for the game here: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/136930/tangent-harmony
So you like MLP? You like Pathfinder?!
General | Posted 7 years agoOkay, so. Some crazy jerk I like to call 'my sweetums' prodded me into starting up a PnP RPG game on Roll20, based on the Ponyfinder series... which is a MLP-themed version of the Pathfinder setting. So, if you're interested in roleplaying, and have any kind of interest in MLP (or just an interest in roleplaying in general), feel free to check it out at https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/136930/tangent-harmony
Ah... well, shit. :(
General | Posted 7 years agoAlright, this isn't something I've ever done before, and frankly never thought I'd have to do, but... basically, I need some help, since I'm in a real tight spot. For a little while now, I've been struggling some financially; trying to get back to the same level of income I had at the best job I ever had, but sadly lost after getting laid off (which is a whole other story... #FuckRIM), it's been a bit of a roller-coaster for a bit. It's not made any better by higher expenses, like my car insurance deciding to double in price about a year ago, and a cable bill that got way too big for what we've needed, and took way too long for us to cut off.
Long story short... my car got repossessed Tuesday, and it's going to take me $2000 in order to get it back. :(
This is, needless to say, kind of a big deal, since I need a reliable car to work. I have a rather nasty commute (about 70 miles), given where I live, and sadly working from home is not an option where I'm at now. We only really have my car to get around as well, unfortunately.
So... yeah. I may be able to work something out, but if anyone is willing to help me out in any way, it'd be more than appreciated. :( My Paypal information is spencerfox@fracturedreality.net.
Thank you again, everyone, if only for reading this journal... this won't happen again.

New SL Project!
General | Posted 8 years agoAlright, for anyone familiar with my... wow, second-to-last journal? Sheesh... anyway, if you're familiar with my 'Start of Something New!' journal post, I (finally) got around to making a similar-themed video, based on an idea mentioned by a friend of mine.
Took a bit longer to come up with than I'd almost like, and there's one or two elements that I would've liked to have tweaked, but it still came out pretty well, IMO. Feel free to check it out!
(And now to see about actually 'finishing' the previous video...)

... DAMN YOU CAWTHON!! *shakes fist*
General | Posted 10 years agoSomething interesting about me: I love horror games. I really do. I have quite a collection of them, as it happens, including some rather rare oldie ones like, say, Harvester and Silverload. Not sure what it is about them, but there you go. I in fact just got done finishing the first Allen Wake game on Steam (interesting story, but horrible combat, in my opinion... thank god for Cheat Engine and FLASHBANGS FOR EVERYBODY!), as it happens... still need to finish the two DLC episodes, though, if only to find out how the main character reappears in American Nightmare.
The thing is, though, my first impression of a little-known trilogy known as 'Five Nights at Freddy's' has been 'Man, this looks really boring.' Even just watching various people do playthroughs of it bored me insensible, and I've seen a few now.
Lately, though, I've been reading up on it more, because the concept, and what little of the plot (that's been debated and discussed more than your average conspiracy... and I say that as someone who was around the fandom for the first Kingdom Heart's secret ending) is rather fascinating, especially with Game Theorists' videos on the subject here and here. Of course, mind you both theories have arguably been disproven, but still. I even find myself enjoying derivative works such as Five Crimes at Freddy's and MandoPony's Survive the Night
But, still, I wasn't really up for paying money to play something I may not enjoy at all... and then this comes up today.
Anyone know what's Anamatronic Screech for 'First hit's always free'?
(PS: On a related note, while I'm glad Xenoblade Chronicles is getting a new lease on life on the 3DS... fuck you, Nintendo and your 'Only on New Nintendo 3DS' bullshit, and thank goodness I got a copy of the original Wii version.)

The Start of Somthing New!
General | Posted 11 years agoAlright, I've been toying around with an idea for a while now, and I'm finally ready to show it... it's definitely still a work in progress, but this should give people an idea of what I'm working on:
Waiting for Sleep (Of Ponies and Superheroes)
General | Posted 11 years agoHuh. Over half a decade on FA here and not a single 'real' journal post. Let's go ahead and fix that...
First, a video!
This is actually a song that I happened to come across in the rather famous 'PONIES: the Anthology 3' (specifically this part). It caught my attention enough to try and track down the original song in the credits and give it a listen. (The fact that it involved a bunch of scenes from my favorite episode of the series, 'Sleepless in Ponyville', probably helped... since apparently I am a complete sucker for anything involving Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo.)
At the time, I thought it was only okay; the chorus that was used in the Anthology video seemed like the best part, but I did rather like the 'story' that the video for it had, as it fit rather well. Still, I kept at it, and I ended up starting to really like it.
Anyway, I mention it now because it ended up being very epiphanic (as potentially pretentious as that term may sound, anyway...), along with the aforementioned 'Sleepless in Ponyville' episode of MLP, and another one that I rather like, 'Party of One'.
Basically the last few days, I've been feeling a mixture of anger and depression; the specifics of which I won't go into, due to it being somewhat personal, but basically it had to do with how I handle social situations, which has always been a real problem of mine. I've always been rather shy, mostly around people I don't know... but even with people I do know, I'm still like that, in that I'm absolutely terrible at talking about my true feelings, and what may be bothering me. It's led to some unpleasant issues in the past, including previous bouts of depression and such.
In the end, though, after (finally) talking through my problems, I finally managed to feel better... and I'm hoping that this time it'll stick, because I realized that I needed to stop being so passive and shy when it comes to social situations and with my friends, and be more open with what I want. I've always been worried that, if I did so, that I'll end up upsetting someone... but not saying anything arguably ends up causing more problems.
That ended up being why I started to really enjoy that song in question: you can't just wait around for things to hopefully get better all the time; sometimes you need to take the initiative yourself and do something about what's going on. Likewise, with 'Sleepless in Ponyville', you can't be afraid to say how you truly feel because you're worried about the consequences, because you just end up hurting yourself in the end.
Sorry if this seems really rambling and nonsensical; it was something I felt like doing, both as a way to open up in general to everyone watching my account, and also as something of a personal reminder to myself. Thanks for reading so far too.
~ Shannon, hopeful for the future.
