Posted 9 years agoI am sorry to say that at the time I write this message, ShardRPG is pretty much dead.
The official forum is in disrepair, there is not any official statement by the makers (or any statement for that matter) and even the Wikipedia entry has been deleted for being obsolote.
Thus I won't really do much with this group either. Please don't expect me to check this ever.
If you like Shard, please do continue to play at your own leisure.
The setting is still beautiful and has much to offer.
If you get frustrated with the lack of updates and the rules of the game, just try to change them around or exchange them with some from another RPG altogether!
Take care of yourself, and may your crystal never shatter.

fishyboner will be bringing some to her table next weekend at the MFF Dealer's Den!
You can find her at Syndactyl Arts Table 96! She told me she is going to sell the books at a really great price of 25$!
And some more great news, everyone!
The upcoming Shard RPG supplement book "Magic and Martial Arts" is dangerously close to completion!
Our very own Scott Jones is posting their progress in this wonderful thread here, and things are looking swell!
For those not familiar with the upcoming book:
"Magic and Martial Arts" will aim to further expand on the headspinning martial arts combat of Dárdünah by introducing many amazing and exotic martial styles and unveil the mysterious ways of the sirhibasi, their secret magic rituals and more!

the Shard RPG Group Journal!
The passing of this year draws closer, and so does, for some of us, christmas!
For our little present to you and your players, we want to share lore about a special little festival celebrated on Dárdünah... not quite unlike those holidays before us, this celebration could be a nice addition to your session, right in time to get everyone into the festive spirit!
New Year’s Festival of Muhjíbh
This festival begins the last night of the year and continues through the rising of the small blue sun Edü on the first morning of first day of Sahásya. It celebrates Mujíbh, the messenger of the Devah, who brings the glad tidings that the season of death is over, and spring has begun. Tiny blue candles are lit and placed in little boats or on leaves and floated on the water to call to Edü, and feasting lasts throughout the night until first prayers.
After both suns rise, lovers and lovers-to-be exchange passionate notes proclaiming their desire for one another, while families and friends exchange more sedate gifts. Children usually receive toys, and adults receive gifts that are appropriate for their social or caste status (tools, weapons, jewelry, etc.). This is to commemorate Mujíbh’s ascension to the Heavens on this day to announce the creation of the caste system to the Great Father and Mother.
We hope everyone will be having an enjoyable time with their friends and families, and look towards the upcoming year with hope and joy in their hearts!

Everyone knows that finding gaming groups for roleplaying game that you enjoy is not always easy!
So in an attempt to give Shard enthusiasts around the world a hand in finding their own adventuring party, every journal post from now on will contain a list of players and GMs that are currently available looking for one!
So in future, you will find this list at the bottom of all future ShardRPG journal posts!

And as an added something, here's a little insight into the cosmology of Shard from the ShardRPG forums, posted by our very own Scott Jones.
I would assume that, in the alternate universe where Dárdünah exists, if trace amounts of metals found on Dárdünah are so rare,...it's because the conditions under which metals can exist in its universe as a whole are also incredibly rare, and thus there probably really wouldn't be huge deposits of meteoric iron (or other metals) floating out there in Shard's universal starry void...
Instead, as we may have indicated in snippets containing clues about Shard's cosmology, there are many differences between the "laws of reality" of the "real" universe and ours... The suns of Shard's universe are actually vast spherical burning crystals. These suns and the planets that revolve around them float in a strange "aether" that might actually have vast bands of life-sustaining atmosphere that may link some star systems and their planets together,... These aethers have properties that allow the existence of "shattered worlds" such as Dárdünah to remain a viable place for life to exist, and surround it with a strange and veil-like scintillating atmosphere of colorful crystal dust... Etc. etc....
When I had strange materials fall from space in the campaigns I was running, there were always crystalline in nature, and sometimes even sentient!!! But that's just me! And just ask Aaron,...I'd throw things in my game that Aaron might never feel good about throwing in his, nor necessarily including it as part of the prime fiction... So from a gaming standpoint, I'd say, if you want to introduce the idea of "legendary metallic weapons and armor" to your campaign, or other such coolness, well heck,...having it fall from space is as awesome a place to start as any!

As most of you may know, the 17th annual Eurofurence convention nears!
This years' theme will be Kung Fur Hustle, and draws from legends, lore and the wild movie magic of exciting kung fu movies!
A theme that could have fit the daring kung fu action you may experience on Dárdünah very well... which is why it's a real shame that we will not be able to officially present Shard to the visitors of the Eurofurence just yet! Sorry! :)
However, there will be more than a few Shard enthusiasts present at the convention that you could probably chat up on the subject. At least I'm sure I'll be more than happy to talk about it!
We are considering of doing an unofficial game session as well, but time is short!
We shall see!
In Other News
terralux has successfully started up his own campaign of Shard, two sessions of which I had the chance to follow! He's doing a really stellar job, and I'm really delighted to hear about their adventures!
Lots of fun to be had, maybe I can coax them to tell a bit about their adventures as well!

A few awesome things happened since the last blog entry!
Updates!
One of the creators of Shard, Scott Jones has granted us permission to feature his beautiful artwork (as seen in the Shard RPG Basic Compendium) in both the deviantArt gallery and Fur Affinity gallery!
Furthermore, the awesome gaiasangel has posted a lot of new exclusive sneak peaks on her contributions to the upcoming Magic and Martial Arts ShardRPG supplement!
So far they are mostly on the DeviantArt group, but will soon make their way here too!
Be sure to check them out in the deviantArt Featured Gallery!
Things are starting to take shape now!
I am also planning on doing a Player Spotlight where my players will get a chance to introduce themselves to you, talk about who they are, their thoughts about the game and their characters! :)
