Merry Christmas!
Posted 11 years agoI realize this journal is getting up late but when you have two kids and one of them is an infant, time seems to slip away from you. But yep, still not dead. Whoo and stuff. I hope everyone had an awesome holiday, ate lots of turkey/ham and consumed much pie. I know I certainly did.
Now, normally this would be the part of the journal where we'd go into how Christmas is commercialized and is ruining the spirit of holiday cheer, but I think I'm going to bypass that entirely. Instead I'm just going to say that whether you got lots of toys, presents or money, or whether you got nothing at all, what's important isn't the boxes, price tags and bags, but the spirit in which you give and receive. Even if all you can give is a holiday blessing and some good intentioned well wishes.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Now I go to nom this pumpkin pie some more. <3

Happy Halloween!
Posted 12 years agoAs the title says, happy halloween, though the journal is a little late! Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays (not just for the candy ;P) and its good to be able to spend it with my little girl. Its unfortunate that it was pissing rain for trick or treating, but she had fun.
Also I'd like to say welcome to the world and happy halloween to the newest addition to my family, my son Dante. He was born Sept 21st this year and its his first halloween in the household. A bit young for trick or treating, but sweet nonetheless.
Happy tricking, everyone.

Post-Condition Wrap up.
Posted 12 years agoPERSONAL:
I had an amazing time, not going to lie. I didn't participate in many of the events or panels (because I spent most of my days in the dealer's den) but the people in the con were just amazing. Pretty much everyone was helpful and friendly, and even though I had issues with pre-reg and then later normal registration, everything was pretty quick to resolve. The con staff were all very helpful, especially since everything seemed to be going wrong for them on Friday, but they handled it all like champs.
Shout outs for
caltroplay and
eevachu who were the GoHs this year. Also for all my friends, new and old, who I was able to see again/make at this Condition. Its pretty amazing the fun you can have with a bunch of people by doing basically nothing but sitting around in someone's room and talking, or going out to dinner in ridiculously large groups.
Netrogo was especially helpful by going out and getting the artists coffee and food when we needed it, and making sure that I had everything I needed taken care of. Being nearly eight and a half months pregnant now, that was a major thing for him, and I appreciated it.
Other than that I don't have much to talk about. Life goes on, but I don't really want to go on about medical problems or issues/complications, so I'll just say there are some non-fatal ones and that I'm moving forward. I noticed its a bit dead here in my gallery, but that is going to change. I have a bunch of art that needs to be submitted, which I have been holding off on doing. I felt bad about putting anything new in the gallery without having finished my commission backlog, so I am taking time in the next few weeks to make sure I get everything done. This is a promise to myself as well as to my clients, so lets do this.
WORK:
Thankfully pretty much all my work picked up at C:W is done. I still have to scan in and apply ink to
human_pride_world_wide's commission, and a reference sheet to complete in the next two weeks, but other than that all I have to do is finish up the remaining commissions I have sitting on backlog. Expect to see some action in the next 2-3 weeks around here.

Cooper and

Streaming, and FE 2013!
Posted 12 years agoHey folks. I know my account looks kind of dead recently. Sorry about that, but I've been very under the weather. Morning sickness with the new baby is really kicking my ass!
I'm hoping (provided I can avoid the sick) that I'll be doing a stream on Friday, at 8 PM EST. I'll be taking commissions to help fund my trip to FE this year, so please stop by!
That being said, I'm going to Furnal Equinox 2013! I've got a full length table already booked and paid for, and I'll be sitting with
Cooper,
Strype and
furball this year. This'll mark the first time Fur's joined us officially at a dealer den table, so why not come by and make them feel welcome, yeah? <3

Another stream update for tuesday
Posted 12 years agoSo I went to the hospital to book my ultrasound and get some blood drawn because I am having a baby. I'm naturally thick skinned and the lab has always had a hard time getting my veins properly. The lady at the lab had to switch my arms three times before she could find a vein which she could draw from, and had to use the outside of the arm instead of the inside - which to anyone who's had it done, hurts twice as much to people who are sensitive to this sort of thing. She had to poke me, then move the needle again to get it properly, and as a result my whole arm hurts like hell. This also happens to be my drawing arm, and I was advised not to do anything stressing for the rest of the evening.
As a result, Tuesday's stream is going to be cancelled. I'm sorry guys, but I will do an extra long stream on Friday to make up for it.

Tuesday Stream moved.
Posted 12 years agoDue to unexpected appointments at the hospital to get some blood drawn (I'm having a baby, wheee) Tuesday's stream has been pushed back to 8 PM EST instead of running at 2 PM. Sorry guys, I can't get out of this.
This week - commissions!
Posted 12 years agoI will be streaming at the following times, on the following days!

Thursday 31st Jan 8:00 PM EST. - Taking stream commissions

Posted 12 years agoI'm going to be streaming on Sunday at 8 PM EST. I won't be taking additional commissions at that time, but working on stuff still owed to hopefully complete some things. It should run 2-3 hours long.
Sunday Stream.
Posted 12 years agoThe stream has been pushed back to 9 PM EST. Sorry guys, something came up. It's still happening, just an hour later.
Streaming this weekend!
Posted 12 years agoJust a heads up, I am going to be streaming on Friday evening at 8 EST, on Saturday at 2 EST, and again on Sunday at 8 EST. The first hour to an hour and a half will be devoted to finishing commissions only, but after that I will be open for stream commissions. You can find the prices on my profile page. <3
Streaming tomorrow.
Posted 12 years agoStarting at 8 pm EST tomorrow, Sunday, I will be streaming for a few hours. I dunno for how long, but we'll see how it goes. Stream commissions will definitely be open, and I will also be working on the last of the Condition commissions that are still owed. See you there ;P
Life update.
Posted 13 years agoI've been a bit silent on my end, so I thought I'd throw up a brief update. I'm still alive! Sorta. Found out my kidneys were infected and that was the cause of the lower back pain I've been experiencing for several months. Fun stuff. Also, I'm moving in December to a bigger place with more room. Upsides, we're getting out of an apartment and into a three bedroom townhouse, which is awesome. Yay I will have a backyard and hookups for a washer and dryer! Cons, I will have a roommate as well. Pro to that - said person has agreed to basically be an on-call babysitter so I can get things done during the day, and actually find a day job outside my art.
Bills are tight. Time is tight. Holiday season means moving between my grandparents, my parents and my inlaws trying to spend equal amounts of time with them, or so that's the plan. Spent a few weeks at my parent's house a while back for unrelated (though non-bad) reasons. Uh...
Did some pretty pictures? Although not many, been screwed on creative drive the last two weeks. I'm working on forcing myself back into it. Going to productivity night (something some friends do) helped inspire me.
Otherwise, just living. Going to keep living, so they tell me. Rockin' on.

Livestream saturdays and other commissions.
Posted 13 years agoLivestream is cancelled until further notice. I'm not currently staying at home and the place I am staying at is, unfortunately, not great with internet. I tried streaming and the connection cut so badly that no one could see anything without refreshing every five minutes. Sorry guys, I know I only just started this whole thing, but life sometimes kicks us in the balls when we least expect it. So rather than keep posting journals every week saying that saturday isn't going to happen, I'm just going to go ahead and say that they're closed until my life gets slightly less chaotic. Thanks for your understanding.
Still working on commissions. Again, because I am not at home I have limited time to sit and work on commissions, so its slow going. This is on my plate, in no particular order.

No stream on account of injury
Posted 13 years ago'nuff said. My wrist is doing better but I don't want to leap in on a commission stream right away. Sorry folks.
Augh pain...
Posted 13 years agoHey folks. Back in April I mentioned a wrist injury in one of my journals. Turns out that my RSI is back to haunt me.
For those of you who don't know what RSI is: RSI, "Repetitive strain injuries " are "injuries of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems that may be caused by repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression (pressing against hard surfaces), or sustained or awkward positions". RSI is also known as cumulative trauma disorders, repetitive stress injuries, repetitive motion injuries or disorders, musculoskeletal disorders, and [occupational] overuse syndromes."
A lot of people suffer from this condition and a lot more people ignore it in favor of continuing activities which they enjoy. Prolonged refusal to acknowledge the symptoms can mess up your body for life, and may eventually need surgery in whatever body part you happen to have the RSI. That is why I take it very seriously when I start to get wrist and hand pains, as being able to draw directly affects my career as an artist and my income.
This is the reason for my recent inactivity on the commission front. I have been working on them, however I have been doing it slowly and carefully to avoid flaring up my wrist any worse than it already is. Recently I pushed myself too hard and caused a lot of pain as a result, and I will need to take about a week to recover.
For those of you whom I owe art, and you know who you are, this means a bit of a delay in getting those commissions out. Most of them have been worked on at least to some degree, and I will continue to work on them lightly while I am resting. But it is unlikely any will get finished over the next week.
Many many apologies for the delay.

Saturday streammissions, now running
Posted 13 years agoA bit late today (wow my keeping to schedule seems to suck! Sorry guys, I slept late through my nap). But here we go.
This stream may be NSFW!
So, prices! All in USD
Sketch 10.00
Ink + 10.00
Flat colors + 5.00
Basic shading + 5.00 (may be painted style or cell shaded, depending on how I'm feeling)
Additional character +10.00
NSFW friendly!
For the sake of speed stream commissions are done with artist control. You pick the character, make suggestions on poses, moods and themes, and I will do the rest. I am willing to work with people so long as they don't go crazy on the specifics. Please remember that I only have a certain amount of time to draw the picture in.

This saturday's stream
Posted 13 years agoSorry for the delayed notification guys. Unfortunately real life dropped the ball and surprised me last minute with an outing I absolutely had to attend, so I won't be able to do the stream tonight. Because of that, I'll be doing the streaming session on Sunday, tomorrow, at the same time as its regularly scheduled.
Sorry guys!
Sorry guys!
Reminder: taking commissions via stream, saturday, 7pm EST
Posted 13 years agoThe last journal I posted said 5pm in its title, and that was a mistake in the typing which I did not notice until later. The correct time was in the body of the journal itself, and now in this title/journal as well. Apparently I can't tell time :<
Saturday between the hours of 7pm EST (6pm CST, 4pm PST), and midnight EST, for a total of five hours, I will be running a stream in which people will be able to purchase quick sketches. I'm sure everyone knows what that means, but just in case, that basically means I will sit and draw your picture right in front of you in the stream. Each picture will be given an hour slot of time to be completed, or at least that's what my aim is. Things may run long or be shorter depending on complexity, familiarity and number of characters.
All prices in USD. Please have payment ready at the time of drawing.
Paypal only.

Post-con wrap-up.
Posted 13 years agoPERSONAL
First I'd like to say that it was great getting to meet everyone that I did at Condition Blue. I made some excellent friends while there and had a great time (even if I did sit in the dealer den almost exclusively). Thanks again to everyone who came by Cooper's and I's table to look at our art, and to those of you who stopped to have a conversation or two. Or three. Or four.
Furball,
Netrogo, and myself drove home late Sunday evening, even though we were attempting to get out before the sun set. We were all so completely wiped from the weekend that when we got home everyone sort of collapsed into a coma for ten hours. I probably would have slept longer, but I had to get up to welcome back my two year old daughter when the grandparents came by to return her. I owe them a debt of gratitude for taking her this weekend.
Thanks also need to go out to
Cooper and
Strype for letting myself, Netty and Fur stay at their apartment over the weekend. It was very gracious of them to do that and it made our lives considerably easier.
I'm completely wiped, however - way more tired than I expected I would be - so now I need to go pass out some more and get rested up so I can dig into these commissions tomorrow.
WORK / ART UPDATE
Since I only offered digital work at the con, my queue has been filled. While most of the orders which were only sketches did get finished over the weekend and sent away, many people purchased inked and colored works, and as such my queue is now closed until these pieces are completed. I will let you all know via Journal when queues will be open again.

I need ideas for a pageviews commemoration image!
Posted 13 years agoI'm currently sitting at 1466 pageviews, which is AMAZING. It may not seem a lot to some artists and authors, but I never once imagined I would have nearly that many people looking at my things, or more than a couple of followers! I want to do a special full color image to celebrate when/if I reach 1500, because that is a nice rounding number.
The question is, what should I draw? How should I draw it? Should I do something PG, or NSFW? Should I do something classic with a character wrapped in a ribbon? And if so, who?
This is a call out for ideas! What should I draw and how should I draw it? I'll leave it up to all the people who watch me to decide, and the more popular idea will get drawn. This is a big thank you for all the pageviews and favorites, and watchers. You guys are amazing and make me feel special every time I look at my homepage. Thanks for all your fabulous comments and time!

Commission Slots: Open
Posted 13 years ago[strike]Now that I have cleared some of my backlog its time to open up for some paid commissions! I'm currently only opening five (5) slots, and its first come first serve. No, I won't be able to get them all done before Condition Blue, so please don't expect to have them by the time of the con, although I still try to get them done as quickly as possible.
Also please note that work will only begin on a commission when I receive payment in full. Paypal information will be given out at confirmation of the finalized request.[/strike]
