Posted 11 years agoI had an absolute blast at confurgence 2015! Met tons of new and friendly people and caught up with a heap more old friends!
I had the awesome job of being on the official photography team and working hard manning the first it photo shoot or running to get shots of the furs it walk through one of the busiest shopping centre's in the southern hemisphere!
The panels were amazing and the guests stole the show on a number of occasions and we're also happy to mingle with everyone (Telephone is adorable!)

The Aquarium
Ever since the dawn of sea exploration, we have been fascinated with our ocean-dwelling friends. Aquariums cropped up as a way to enjoy the beauty and majesty of the sea without the threat of drowning or being eaten. From entire walkways made of glass to rooms bedecked with coral, aquariums have never stopped working to bring us as close as physically possible to the experience of living in the ocean. Practically stopping just shy of turning us into fish ourselves, because that’s impossible… isn’t it? Many years ago, a computer scientist vowed to bridge this gap.
Hiding in seclusion for many years, he finally unveiled his greatest creation; an aquarium. Those patrons on the first day were skeptical, but went inside anyway because it was free. What they saw inside stunned them all; no fish. No fish, no water, no anything, just a bunch of very tiny rooms about the size of voting booths. And like a voting booth, each one had a lever inside. “Pull for an experience like no other,” reads the sign on the wall. Naturally, you pull it; how can you not after a build-up like that? Instantly, everything around you goes black. You blink rapidly to try and adjust to the gloom, slowly realizing that light is returning to the… booth? Where did all of this water come from? In every direction you look is the vast, endless void of the sea. With a small jolt, you realize that you are no longer standing on anything, but floating freely in the water. You look down to discover that your hands are gone. A once-over confirms it; you are a native ocean-dweller.

Posted 14 years agocam's underwater housing broked D:
Posted 14 years agoI was out diving at rotnes island last Saturday (5th nov) in pritty strong currents when it happened.
the normal procedure for taking underwater stills is
1) wear gloves [forgot on the jetty]
2) steady yourself, hold onto a rock if need be [if u have gloves] or get ur buddy to hold you [my buddy had an openwater 1 cert and about 21 tbt {total bottom time} and was a good 10 or so meters away with an 11 meter vis .... that's bad]
3) aim and squeeze the trigger
so what happened was i finally called my buddy over and was lining up a beauty of a pic of a port Jackson shark resting on a patch of sand when we were his by 3 surges! 3!!!
not weak ones either
first thew us left, second twisted us around a good 200 degrees third rolled us into the coral.... expensive camera housing first....
it hit the coral on a corner of the housing, making a small leak.
in my mind I was going ...... F*** s*** f**king s*** c*** f*** s*** -censored-
raced to the top, didnt do the 3mins at 5 meters, got the camera back on the boat. drained the water and got the camera out... only then did I realise my index finger was cut and bleeding.... with a shark in the water.... the Jackson wasn't the only shark sighting of the day either... needless to say, all dives were cancelled after due to dangerous currents.
damage:
cracked housing
camera LCD screen fogged
camera battery packed up due to moisture
other than that the camera is ok
didn't even get the shot D:
