One step closer
Posted 10 years agoFor those that did know, I've been working on becoming a conservation officer for the past year. I took the Entry level Law Enforcement exam back in March then proceeded to train for the MCOLES physical fitness test. That test was today, and yes, I passed that too!! Next will be submitting my paperwork, cover page, resume, and test scores. If that accepted it will be background checks, drug test, psych test, then interviews. If I make those, it's off to the academy!!

Wolf for a caribou?
Posted 10 years agoI'm in search of a caribou/reindeer hide, fur on, and in good condition. Leather needs to be good, little shedding if possible. I have a complete wolf or an assortment of critters I can trade or do a partial trade with. Comment or note me if any of you are interested!
Traditional badge slots
Posted 10 years agoWe're getting out of the house today while I recoup from possible carbon monoxide poisoning that took place last night in the basement (I'm ok!). Happened last night while I was on stream with Keeatah when I started to feel weak, my head hurt, I was short of breath, shivering uncontrollably, nauseous, and very cold. Ferret owners! Need your help a moment!
Posted 10 years agoI need two reference shots and the ones currently online just don't quite work. Both rear leg standing up. I need a profile shot of the full woozle as well as a front shot. Flat footed is fine, up on its toes helps too. If possible I need a straight on shot of both the front and profile. Got a ferret body to make as anatomically correct as we can and the best way to do that is with ref shots.

Sleep deprived all of the time?
Posted 10 years agoThis past month or so I've been nothing but sleepy from the moment I wake to the moment I go down to bed. Just moments I want to nod off and it's not right.
I don't have a single trouble with falling asleep, and according to my husband, I sleep like the dead. I just... Don't wake well rested. My natural clock wakes me around 7:30/8:30, not much after that. Naps don't happen during the day really. So currently I'm at a loss. Nothing has changed eating wise, and exercise is on and off (with no change to the sleepiness in between). Not pregnant either.
I don't drink coffee or drink that much caffeine anymore. Anyone of a similar nature have thoughts? It puts quite the lag in work, and my memory has become very short.

New laptop+ wrist updates
Posted 10 years agoThanks to some extremely amazing friends, we now have a properly functioning laptop here in the workshop and wow, I didn't realize how badly we were needing it. Tracking of projects should work a bit better now (for the past 6 months everythings been done via cell aside from digital art. NOT RECOMMENDED!)
It'll take a little time to get used to it, get things converted over, and what not. I'd really like to get a Trello going for easier updates and management. All work (spooks, digital art, fursuits, taxidermy, jewelry, computer management, shipping, emails, etc.) are all done by one person so I get spread thin easily.
Now for the wrist! We've been monitoring it through various tasks and exercises and the general consensus is this:
Average work load requires 1-3 days or recoup or light work if it starts to hurt.
Heavy/rush work load requires a week or so of icing, brace, and stretching/KT tape.
I'm trying to keep a balance of the average and light so I can work daily. Therapist has told me that if I don't pace myself, I risk doing permanent damage or potential surgery.
Lately my left wrist has been twinging on off occasions since its trying to pick up the load my right is doing. If I want to keep providing fursuits and other services for everyone in the future, a steady work time must be done, whether I like it or not.

Electrical surge mishap
Posted 10 years agoThanks to... Something..(brown out? Power surge?)The appliances in our kitchen may be fried, half the breakers are fried, and possibly the dehumidifier. All plugs down stairs and almost all upstairs are inoperable at the moment. I've been told to keep all electrical use to a low while the repair guy goes and find a new breaker box and tests everything. So in the meantime, no fridge, no stove, no microwave, and low key work :/ not how I wanted to start my week..
Slight delay in work
Posted 10 years agoJust got back from a weekend with family, that is the last trip that's planned that we will be gone a span of time for. HOWEVER. My brothers wedding is this Friday so while a little work will be happening, most time will be spent cleaning, decorating, and altering attire! We have some people to shuttle around as well as the reception hall to set up, catering, photos, family coming in, etc. things are being scuttled around a little, but not by much.
Updates/pendants/ quick flight
Posted 10 years agoMoving into my head orders in the coming 2 weeks. My flight to deliver the panther mascot leaves tomorrow, so I'm going to post some pre-release pendants tonight to help cover baggage fees (cause yay frontier... ._.) I leave tomorrow, be back on the red eye flight at 4:30 am Wednesday morning (shit).
Going to be hitting the Spenser Opal mine while I'm out there, would be stellar if I could add Idaho Opal to the mix in the pendants!!!
There will be an etsy shop as soon as I get a name decided. Until then I will only be selling them in short bursts, each one a little different than the last. This next burst will be TONIGHT, containing titanium aura Quartz, phantom Quartz, and two surprises maybe. We will see how it goes. Need to sell the first burst before I can bring on the surprises :3
Stay tuned!

Kigu makers :3
Posted 10 years agoI'm going to be nosing around for open Kigu makers for a bit different commission.
It would be a standard Kigu, most likely a zippered front. The hood wouldn't have the face or eyes, no ears (ear slots instead!). I won't have time to make the realistic Scout a proper body this year but I would still like to take her, and what better way than by sticking a ferret into a Kigu! This is just a thought at the moment, but would listen if anyone is interested in taking this on. The crotch would need to be fairly dropped for the proper proportions. No hands, no feet. The tail would be the challenge maybe, since the body would be long. Like I said, just spitballing ideas!

General updates
Posted 10 years agoDIGITAL ART: only have one ref sheet, and it's roughly sketched out for character placement and overall.
TAXIDERMY: when things slow down at the end of the month I'm going to be doing a bunch of tanning, namely a mess of bobcat feet, a doe back hide, doe cape, and coyote cape. Moving slowly into the next three spooks on the queue.
FURSUITS: getting desolate knocked out with her upgrades this weekend. Working on a panther mascot due the second week of August. Starting around the third or 4th, I'm moving into my last resin heads on my queue.
HALF MASKS: all pre-orders are cast and ready for sanding and finishing. The two auction pieces will be up in about 2 hours.
JEWELRY: making pendants every now and then to give my wrist a break, since it's low stress. I have some ammonite, amethyst, some peacock ore, and a few other goodies coming to really start expanding my arsenal.
COMSERVATION OFFICER: we are starting into the physical test in September, from there it's interviews and a few more tests. The physical being the biggest.
I have a large array of things going, little by little we are getting there with everything!
I will also be gone for a little under a week when I fly out to deliver the mascot in person. After that there's a couples weekend we are hitting, then the weekend after that it's our brothers wedding. So! August is a little hectic and a lot busy, so bare with me!

General updates
Posted 10 years agoTwo biggest things I'm tackling is finishing the upgrades to Desolate-Kiss's suit, getting a mascot commission done (both due before the first week of August). I need to get rent covered as well as get a plane ticket covered AGAIN because this school wants me in person to work and deliver. Great. SO. One head, the jewelry will be posted for sale...
With all this, I get a call and find out my dog Maggie is finally dying. The cancer is stealing my best friend from this world. I know she will be on the other side waiting for me but it doesn't make it hurt any less.
On top of all of this, I get called for friggin jury duty. Yeah it's civil service, but it's days out of the workshop that could be put to better use. I don't make a good sheep. I know the system. I will not be lenient that if there is strong enough evidence for me, I will vote for full punishment. I don't give in. Not a good sheep.
With so many interruptions I'm working the best I can within the limits of my wrist to stay on track. I'm farther behind than I want to be.
HALF MASKS: the resin and stuff should be arriving tomorrow according to the UPS tracking. You guys have been amazing and patient and I can't thank you enough.
I need to get tanning solutions ordered for this deer cape and bobcat paws. If the paws don't work, I picked up a complete bobcat and will use that, sending the clients cat back unchanged.
I'm going to carve a foam base today, static jaw, just to clear my head and settle my nerves. It was turning out to be an amazing weekend, and then Monday struck... After its carved it's back to commissions.

Calling half mask clients!
Posted 10 years agoWe finally have things operational again but the current computer only has 2 of the designs sent in. If you were on my list for them, couple you please note me your design? With the newest set up they are better than ever!
Focus of this week
Posted 10 years agoTackling the jaw on Desolate-Kiss's head while I wait for fur to arrive for another suit. I will also be making the first Mosasaur tooth pendant for sale/auction (as well as molding the dromaeosaur tooth for pendants). Might have a pelt or two up for sale and some other things to clear out some excess stock. Keep your eyes/ears open!
Will NOT be attending AC!
Posted 10 years agoI fly out to see my parents for the first time in over a year for a family reunion that, to our dismay this year, falls directly on AC. Next year loves!! I know a few of my pieces will be down there, namely
brassica_bentley,
gadgetcrossfox and his mate,
jake_bolt, and many others. Please give them all hugs for me! ~<3

Quad suit/rights to Zero
Posted 10 years agoI'm thinking of moving my mascot on to someone who would use him. My wrist can't handle quadsuiting anymore. The full suit lacks a head, needs new feet, new hands, and the body is old and needs repairs so I won't be selling the full suit. I can send the tail along with though. The quads in good shape and he's a very striking suit. Legs are jointed, he would fit someone at least 5'8 and 150 lbs I could see. All foam padding, most of which is attached to the suit.
This means the person would be getting all badges (including one from Ifus), his ref sheet, character design, name, everything. Only thing you can't do is say you are apart of the Sharpe Costumes crew (family yes, crew no). I would take a discounted custom full suit commission for him later on if someone wanted a full suit.
Picture of the quad here:

Plus a video:

Just make me an offer. He's in good shape, all badges are in good shape.. I'm trying not to think about it much because ultimately I really wanna see him in a better home where he will get use.

Little updates
Posted 10 years agoGunna be working on taxidermy items this week if I'm able, finishing up a few more heads on my queue, remolding the half mask once more, and possibly tackling my digital art queue. I've been taking things slow while I worked so I don't over stress my wrist as it seems like it's getting easier and easier to do.
The docs also have me on a nightly medication for some nerves not firing properly, only for me to find out it's also some heavy anti-depressant sort. Keeping an eye on it and gunna step myself off if it proves to be causing any trouble (and to avoid some nasty depression back swing). So that's all fun and whatnot.
Final thing is I will be announcing here a second webinar in July. This one tackling realist foam heads with a moving jaw. I'll post a list and date next week so people can be ready. It too will be a daily charge, so people can pay for what they want to see. This way if they have to bail or something happens, they don't loose an entire webinar.
This won't be recorded, and the password will change daily. Daily charges will be $10, $15 for a half hour on cam that I help walk you through with any troubles you are having. :) this webinar will span over 4-5 days, each day's schedule being announced the night before.

Future cosplay: what do you wanna see?
Posted 10 years agoMy big dream cosplay I'm putting on hold before I even start because I know I don't have the time for it. So! Looking to those that I can, what do you guys want to see most? These are all going to be realistic, with the exception of the first one. First will be based off of the anime with a slight stylization.
1. Breloom
2. Bipedal realistic vaporeon
3. Bipedal realistic Umbreon
4. Realistic raichu
These are all I want to do. Sandslash is in there somewhere, but he too is on hold till time permits to do ALL of those gosh darn plates!
This won't be started till early of next year for Shutocon 2016. Lemmy hear those votes!
