I just started my new job today. It's completely full time, and while the job is simple, it's still kind of tiring. Also, since the holidays are around the corner (starting with halloween), I'm gonna be a pretty busy photographer, working mostly over 40 hours a week. So I'm not going to be very active until I get used to the lifestyle change that comes with the job.

I'll still post Sugar updates, and thanks to everyone who donated to her cause! Next friday I'll be able to get her everything else that she needs by myself. :)

I've owned nothing but Pits and Shepherds my entire life; I for one know how much of 'big, scary, evil, bloodthirsty attack dogs' they can be. :P They're the most patient, calm, loving dogs I've ever owned and are a pleasure to have. It's the owners that raise them horribly and treat them like garbage to turn them into 'attack dogs'. Any dog can be an attack dog. Look at Chihuahuas. Some of them are evil little suckers, but they're so tiny and cute that nobody pays them any mind. All dogs can be aggressive, it just takes the wrong person to raise them for it to be so.

I'm really wanting a baby parakeet. Working in a pet store (for a year and a half) has taught me a lot about animals, but I didn't get to learn as much as I'd like to about birds, because I didn't really work in that department too much.

So to all of you that own parakeets, what are some quirks you can tell me about them? What about some pros, cons, anything you can think of that I should know?

I'm wanting to do my research before I jump into it, plus I have Sugar to take care of and find a home for before I can even think about taking in a bird.

I was coming home from work and found her. She's extremely malnourished and ill, and has a really bad skin infection and fleas. They want to test her for mites and mange. I found her on the side of the road eating a dead animal. She's very sweet, and came right up to me. She has a broken toe, and broken canines. Older German Shepard. I'm taking her to the vet first thing in the morning to get her looked at, but I'm desperate on funds. I don't want my rent check to bounce because I used the money.

Even if you only have a dollar to spare, I'm begging you.
She's so sweet and I don't want her to go to animal control. The severity of the mange is bad, and they'll just put her down because animal control out here are assholes.

EDIT: 5 minutes after posting this journal, after I go inside. She got off of the tie out and just cried at the door until I came out. She didn't go anywhere, claiming loyalty and gratefulness to me. ...I'm really going to get on the ball with commissions and stuff.
I can admit that I've really been slacking. Granted, I've had a whole bunch of shit going on in my life, but still. I'm slacking.
I've finally gotten on the ball and talked my manager at work because a position became available. I scooped that up, and I'm getting promoted. There is no reason that I shouldn't do that for my artwork, too.
Working is my life. It's the one and only thing I can ever say I'm proud of myself for doing. I take pride in my work, all of my work. I need to start showing it here.

I need to decide once and for all, if art is what I want to do with my life. I've been going around in circles since I was 13 trying to decide if this is the path I want for myself. I've had two colleges constantly contacting me through phone calls, emails, and letters practically begging me to study there. Is it for the tuition money they'd get from me? Most likely. Is it because maybe for once, someone important potentially sees some talent in me? Who the hell knows. I won't know until I can see some talent I'm proud of in myself.

ANYWAY. Back to the original statement I was going for here, which does relate to my rant. After I finish my tail raffle, I will not be offering any more freebies, requests, gift art, etc. (only for good friends)

If I really want to go somewhere with art, I need to learn that giving it away does not bring you customers. It brings you people that know you're the type of person to give away free stuff, and they know you'll likely do it again so they stick around. I want to earn my keep here. If it doesn't work out here, it doesn't work out. Then I'll know I'm not cut out for it. My artwork may not be the best, but I throw my all into it, and everyone knows it. It's time to get myself going here.

It's been a week now since my wound, and I finally let it air out last night. (AKA, no wrap, bandage, etc) I was really hesitant and scared (I'm a baby, lol), but it was fine. It kind of popped open a little bit on the side, but hey, it's healing! I kept it wrapped for the first three nights, and then slept with it in a bandaid to give it a little chance to breathe. I can look at it without cringing now. XD

Which means I should be back to the hard work of tails within a day or two, since I can wrap it and work with animals without any problems.



ALSO. GETTING PROMOTED AT WORK. :D Super happy and excited. Nothing special, it's not even full time. But it's the step I've been waiting for.

The half circle looking cut is a slice going about halfway to the bone in my pinky. It was gushing blood for a good 10-15 minutes everytime we tried to clean it. The second cut isn't nearly that deep, but hurts like a bitch. I also have another cut on the top of my palm near my pinky, which was hardly worth mentioning.
I can't afford to go see the doc to get stitches for it. The emergency room is going to charge an arm and a leg to me, I really don't want that.

I'm going to be working my hardest to get my last few tails done, but I can't do a critical part of the tail making process. I can't grasp anything bigger then a pen in this hand because of the way it's wrapped, and brushing the yarn out is impossible without ripping the cuts open again. And needless to say, it's gonna be like this for a few days. I will be doing all of the beginning steps that I can, though. So hopefully by the time its healed, all I'll have are the easy parts left. ^^

I'm short $120 dollars because they took money from my account without my authorization. So. Reign has very awesomely decided to help me put a schedule together to get back on track with my life and help me balance my retail job and my art. (My retail job has been a mess recently.)
