Inquiry- An auction or fundraiser for personal causes?
Posted 4 years agoHey,
I don't post here often. But I have been in a bad financial situation for awhile, and though I think I can take care of myself and get through things even in some debt, I am personally concerned about one of my cats. She has always been small and had problems with her digestion, but recently she has seemed to not be gaining weight or even losing it, along with clear pain regarding digestion and incontinence. She is only a little over a year old. I'm really worried and while I can spare costs for good food I think she really needs to see a vet. I have taken her to two vets about 6 months ago but they brushed it off as diarrhea being normal for kittens/young cats. I think it is something else. Her littermate I also have adopted has not had digestive issues, and in parallel, bulked up on muscle, size, and has healthy weight.
I'm making this to ask about means of fundraising a trip/needed follow-up from a vet. I have pet insurance, so that could reduce costs for me and potentially any donors, and I will first inquire about insurance quotes and vet quotes. (The vet does not file my insurance, I personally have to make any claims) I'm thinking about auctioning icon commissions and maybe 3/4ths and misc illustrations (though I feel I have less examples of the latter two) and maybe setting up a general fund if people would rather just leave a buck or so.
I don't have experience in such a thing. I would typically be open to near flat-rate commissions for myself, but I want to see if there is more I can do for my cat. I want to know if anyone has an opinion or knows of someone who has done such a thing, or can give any advice.

Art Fight
Posted 9 years agoHey~ I joined this site called Art Fight where you draw each others characters in a sort of battle.
I've done a couple drawings in my spare time and uploaded my characters. It helps to draw something for just for fun and make someone else happy. Unfortunately in about a week's time I will rapidly become busy, so just a warning that revenges might be very slow, or I may not be able to get back.
Anyhoo look for me here: http://artfight.net/~korvas

Furvilla
Posted 9 years agoYo you might of heard of this new online pet site called Furvilla, and I am handing out referrals as well. It’s a game where you collect animal villagers you can customize, and choose careers for them to pursue. If you want to try it out you can just click this link, or find me (Birdman, 15409).
Right now there are a lot of fires being put out, but if you want to get in early on the drama then come jump in. I think there's a lot that needs change and balancing but HEY the art is cool and you have a lot of customization abilities.
btw this is my character

Zootopia
Posted 9 years agoZootopia is SOOOOO GOOOD
(no spoilers)
Ya'll are furries so you were probably going to see it anyway but if you had any doubts before I HIGHLY recommend the film. I had no complaints story and character-wise. The emotions and messages of the film are really strong and speak to current issues of today. I couldn't help but cry and I ain't a sap. It could have easily been a live action film but I think the use of anthropomorphic animals was smart as well as fun. Also the humor is really good??? Like the animation and jokes are well thought out and while some are blatant and fun many others were subtle acting choices.
Also one of the directors was at our screening. Someone asked, "Did Nick and Julie also end up together as friends in the end?" which he replied "Yes, though we never considered a romance. Friendships can be stronger and more interesting" and the room (mostly girls) applauded loudly
I heard that some people in the furry community were like, "did they make this film for us?" Which I would say no, but then a remembered the Shakira tigers. So well,
there's probably a few people at Disney who would waggle their eyebrows in this direction.
If I owned a movie theatre I would like... make a "Furry Friday" where for one day on a 11pm screening if you came in a fursuit your ticket would be free. I think it would be fun, and I like endorsing sub-cultures.
Also I am a LITTLE worried because my student film this year overlaps in some story points with Zootopia. At this point it's nothing I can change, I just didn't expect a Disney movie to also explore the darker worldbuilding of furries. If I made this film last year I would be safe, but since it will come out after this film I just have to hope people don't think I took some ideas :/
PS don't do anything unsavory to any of the characters please, I think they are precious and shouldn't be corrupted :(

A Question for Nature
Posted 9 years agoCan animals appreciate art
I just wanna know, do take interest beyond mistaking something for another animal,
like do they find Van Gogh or Bach or modernism pleasing
art is a wierd abstract concept and wonder how it translates to animals

I'm here now
Posted 10 years agoI've created this account because let's face facts, I like animals and anthromorphic versions of them. I feel weird about the furry community as a whole but I like the art and costumes so maybe I'm in denial
Also someone already took the username korvas in 2009, and the account is completely inactive. I was tempted to take the username realKorvas but it feels a little desperate. So this is kind of an alias, named somewhat after my favorite and cutest demon, president Malphas.
