My commissions are CLOSED... 🎉FOREVER🎉
Posted 2 months agoAt last, I have done it. I have finally cleared my commission queue! It is 100% empty!! It's been many years since I last had the taste of this particular freedom!!!
But that was only possible because I have made an important decision: I will not be taking commissions anymore! You may have noticed that I haven't spammed my dumb ads everywhere for a bit now. Yeah, there will be no more ads. This is no longer a viable kind of work for me...
In the last few years I've been struggling more and more to keep up with commissions, and that's mostly because I've done so many for so long that I started to kinda really dislike drawing... Like, drawing stopped being something fun and enjoyable because it was just mostly work. So I end up never finishing my personal arts and stuff because drawing is the last thing I want to do when I wanna rest and have fun.
I think it was easier before because for a long time, even though I always had OCs, I didn't really have much of a clear goal of what I wanted to do with them. But now I do... I have so much stuff planned that I really, REALLY want to see done, and it's been really painful to never be able to. It's very frustrating to want to draw for myself but then not manage to get past an ugly sketch because my creative energy is all used up.
I am very very thankful to all the people who supported me throughout the years, but it's really about time for me to move on from this.
If you're not interested in my OC bullshit, you're free to unfollow me because this is about to become an OC-bullshit-exclusive zone, heh. Especially if you followed me for birds... because I think my status of Certified Bird Artist has now expired. Despite my endless pile of OCs and the Bird in my name, I have very few bird OCs so there likely won't be a lot of birds super often around here anymore, especially since apparently all I want to draw now is dogs with big ears...
Anyway, that's it for this life status update! I'll post all the remaining unposted commissions shortly to get through with that quickly, but there should be more interesting stuff coming up soon! <3

The joy of editing my site and "should I update old pics?...
Posted a year agoI've probably mentioned this a bit (or a lot) before but I love working on my website. That is a great thing, but at the same time it's TERRIBLE because every time I touch anything on my website, it spirals into doing more and more things and having more ideas for things that I wanna do and things I need to update... so it ends up never being just "a quick little update".
For example: My character profiles have a few sections on them that I've grown to hate, so I decided to trim those bits and update other bits. Took me a while but I made a new profile template. Now I just had to apply that to every character, which is a bit time consuming but mostly copypasting things into the new format but... on the second char I picked, I decided "yep he needs a tiny redesign and a fullbody art". Redesigns for me mean going back and updating any picture I still consider relevant for that character with the new design, so yeah. Then third character "yeah I'll finish that fullbody sketch of him right now because I've had it for years so why not". Sixth character, full redesign, which included redrawing parts of the older pics, and also a new wip. Then I redesigned his friend, who didn't even have a profile in my site yet. Then two other characters who also didn't have profiles... Because you see, with the new profile thing I made, I'm back at feeling super eager to add all my OCs there (which are a lot of people yet to add) so I wanted to get these guys ready.
So at this point I had 2 new finished fullbodies, 2 new wips, about 10 updated old pics and a couple updated wips (that shall remain as wips for now, rip), and I'm kinda slow at things so this kinda happened over a few days. But then, I realized that I was tired of seeing broken pics on my chars "menu" page. I usually only added char pics when their profiles are finished, but I decided to just add everyone's pics even if their profiles aren't up yet because it'd just look nicer. So, 21 pics cropped and resized into icons. Sadly, most chars still don't have a "side headshot" so I didn't add those because I want to keep the consistency I have going, but everyone who already has one is now added. (The ones who don't have one get a silly little "WIP" placeholder now)
But by now, I had already "wasted" too much time on this so I convinced myself to stop editing anything and go back to actual work I had to do. Soooo my char profile updating process lies incomplete for now, because I'm supposed to have other priorities at the moment. Not only I have commissions to do but also a lot of Houndsdagger/Verloren stuff that's stuck in wip-hell. And now I should probably post those 2 new pics, but I'm wondering what to do about the redesigned old pics. Should I repost them here? Should I just quietly update old submissions instead? Should I just do nothing, because who cares about old pics and the updated pics are already in my website anyway?
Anyway, just a random overly-lengthy journal to bump my last one off my profile because I'm caught up with posting for now, so that journal was obsolete.

Posted 2 years agoI just realized I haven't posted here in a while and there's kind of a bunch of things I've been posting on tumblr (and other places) and I should probably put here too I suppose. I should get around to it... sometime!

Posted 3 years agoI'm finally done with the massive post queue! Now I'll try to keep up. Whenever I post in my telegram channel, I'll post to all art websites too. Though I'm not sure if I'll post every everything. When selecting the posts for the massive queue, I didn't include everything I did in the meantime, just some of what I consider the best. I'll see what works better when I have any new posts lol.

I'll try to schedule posts to not be all at the same time, but you should still expect to see a pile of my stuff in your inbox. Yesterday I finished catching up DA, Weasyl and Newgrounds galleries with the few arts I still like that were already on Furaffinity. From now on, the posts will be new on all 4 galleries. I mean, "new". Telegram, twitter and tumblr have already seen all of what I'll post anyway.
But yeah, sorry for the inconvenience of having to swim through heaps of my old garbage in your inboxes.

A Fresh Start!

The move that was bound to happen since years ago, when I first created my art accounts on places with a username I never really liked just because what I wanted was taken. Back then though, I had no idea I'd become so serious at art to the point of making it my main source of income.
I didn't plan to actually move accounts because my old ones already had followers and I didn't wanna lose that. But slowly I ended up abandoning all my accounts due to lack of time/motivation to upload stuff to them. The last to go was my old FA, which had its last post in May 2018. By this time, I guess nobody really remembers me anymore as I've never been too relevant, so I saw that as a great opportunity to start fresh with an username I ACTUALLY like, to make it my definitive brand.
So here we are, I am ShenzaiBird. This is how you can look me up nearly anywhere I have accounts on nowadays.
My old account will stay up with all its content for historical purposes, and I'll also reupload some of my favorite pieces from there to here. But soon enough, I won't be logging in on the old account anymore. It's been a nice journey with that account, but now it's time for a new beginning.
I just hope I can keep up with posting frequently this time around! :'D
