StuckInTheSludge.New Year's Resolutions
General | Posted 5 years agoHere's to another year, and here's hoping it isn't a complete clusterfuck like the last one! As we head into 2021, I've been thinking about what I want to do as far as my artwork is concerned and I've really only come up with two resolutions for myself:
1. DRAW MORE
Yeah, this has been a resolution of mine that comes up every year for the past 5 years and it ain't stopping now! Work has left me incredibly burnt-out lately due to mandatory overtime that has been carrying on over the past two months alongside the bosses taking their frustrations out on the few employees that are busting their collective asses on the job (resulting in them working less or outright not showing up; seriously, there's suppose to be 40+ people on the warehouse floor and right now we're down to about 13...). I use to doodle any ideas that came to mind during downtime, but I'm now hustling every single second to keep the warehouse running and doing other people's jobs to the point where that creative spark has been thoroughly drowned. I do intend to rekindle it however; I'm taking an extended New Year's weekend away, dusting off my resume, and brainstorming new ideas on what I want to draw. I picked up the digital tablet over 5 years ago because I was determined to draw exactly what I wanted instead of always leaving my ideas in the hands of somebody else, and I am determined to keep on trucking no matter what.
2. Start on "Red"
Oooh boy, does anybody remember that cover page I made for "Red" 2 years ago? Well, it wasn't dead on arrival; I had actually plotted out the initial comic pages, drawn the first 4, and was in the middle of drawing page 5 when I stopped to take a step back and really look them over... and my initial reaction was "this is garbage". Yeah the perspectives were alright, but the lines were clunky and chunky, the colors were so muted, and I just didn't feel a proper connection between them and the story I had in mind, so I scrapped the comic pages. Since then, I've been combing over the story again and again to further flesh minor and major events out, and I came to the realization that it might be easier for me to write "Red" instead of draw it.
I'm sure comics take off better than written stories here though, so I've come up with an idea that's a bit of a compromise between the two; I intend to write "Red" as a novel and include some illustrations for each chapter to help set the scenes/moods. I'd like to do proper fully-colored pictures, though I may lean more towards B/W or colored sketches depending on how I feel during each chapter. My intention is to at least reach the halfway point of the first "book" of the series; my stories tend to run a bit long and I have to actively reel it back to keep things from reaching Dragonball GT levels of convoluted (Seriously, my storyline for "Uncivil" could've actually given Dragonball a run for its money in terms of length and ridiculousness before I gave about 90% of it the axe), so the storyline for "Red" is currently solidified as a 3-book series.
As for what "Red" is all about, the story follows my platinum fox Michael Crowley and the work he does as a detective in the Alabastor District (essentially a town-sized red-light district). The detective does his best to keep the district safe (sometimes through questionable means) while indulging in his own deviant tastes as a slave owner. The setting is AR (alternate reality) and has a bit of a futuristic feel to it. It also makes use of the Auramancy system that I've been developing for over a decade now (I started to make a sort of overview of it HERE, though there have been some minor changes to it since then that will be covered in the story itself).
So... yeah, that's my plans for the new year. Let's see how hard they crash and burn this time around!

A Decade
General | Posted 6 years agoOh how time flies by. 10 years ago today, I made my very first FurAffinity profile and dove headlong into a whole new world. Little 18-year-old me was still trying to figure out his kinks and sexuality while dealing with some rather conservative (i.e. traditional, old-school) parents, having a good time by driving by the local laundromat in his beat-up Honda just to shout "STOP DOIN' YOUR FUCKIN' LAUNDRY!" with a couple of friends from the neighboring school district. Prior to the internet, I had been trying -and kinda failing- to cope with my myriad of kinks and quirks, feeling rather alone in the world because I had nobody to talk this stuff out with; didn't wanna look like a freak to any of my groups of friends, and my parents certainly weren't going to be any help (my mother would've gladly put me on the funny farm for being into diapers if she had had her way).
My introduction to the furry community actually came from DeviantART, having had an account for just over a year prior to moving over here. It was there that I not only found people drawing cute little anthropomorphized animals, but people drawing diaper-related artwork. It was a faint glimmer of light for my rather murky personal life; I really wasn't the only one into this sort of thing! I clung onto this newfound info like a life preserver and let it carry me further along, finding the furry community and my interest in it along the way.
DeviantART was still my main art site for a little while after this discovery, though I did eventually transition over to FurAffinity, as the art and community was much more abundant here. I would later go on to make a new profile under the name Neonkitsune and use it to make a few low-quality memes before coming back here and continuing to... do nothing of any real interest. I drew a bit, though my anatomy was atrocious back then; I could draw Sonic-esque characters (In fact, my fursona Neo started as a Sonic OC), but that was about it. Still, I drew and drew, primarily posting to DeviantART and lurking on FurAffinity. When I eventually tried to shape my own art style, I began to post here, either drawing traditionally and using my mouse in Paint.NET or SAI to digitalize the picture or by drawing on my Nintendo DS.
Neo has gone through many changes over the years; his hairstyle has changed up, colors and glow have fluctuated, even his number of tails has changed. Beyond that, I had developed a small group of side characters that had only seen any sort of attention on DeviantART, along with a story for them and my fursona spanning over a decade now that has still only seen any sort of light in minor discussions at best. Eventually, after spending years doodling and sketching in the background, as well as finally picking up my very first drawing tablet, I set out to revive those old characters, eventually forming the "Uncivil" arc of characters that I have listed on my page. Not stopping there, I developed another story and cast of characters through inspiration from several sections of the furry community, drawing up the "Red" arc of characters. After all of that, I have to laugh a bit as I find myself drawing in sketchbooks again while my tablet collects dust; spending all those years honing and refining my style on paper has made it a bit hard to move to the digital canvas so I've drifted back to my graphite pencils and kneaded eraser.
Outside of the art, life has changed quite dramatically; I've run away from home, come back home a year later, moved states with my family, picked up work in the construction field, developed a newfound hatred for local drivers, found better work, reconnected with old high school friends, left home a second time (this time on a much more stable note), and started properly investing for my future. Through most of this I've been in a loving relationship with my Master
rubenflonne that has been going for 9 years strong now. Even though I initially connected with him as just a young dumb 19-year-old, he's helped me better transition into the furry community, as well come to terms with and embrace my growing list of kinks. I daresay I wouldn't be the same person I am today had I not had his help, and I'm so thankful that he's been there this whole time.
A lot can change in a decade and my time here is certainly no exception to that. What does the next 10 years hold? I guess there's only one way to find out.

Gonna try a different batch of drawings
General | Posted 7 years agoSo this "Ask the Cast" thing has shown me that I have a bit more of a vague grasp of anatomy than I thought I had, so I want to take a step towards fleshing out the two world arcs I've built over the years. The idea I have is to do a series of pictures that lay out some character traits and some world events shared between the two arcs, with my mouse Milo acting as a sort of instructor/professor/educator. I don't expect this set to gather a whole lot of views (mainly since it won't be containing any openly-fetishy content, and is instead focused more on a pair of stories that exist only in my head), but it's still one of the many things that I want to pick from my head and put to a physical format. So yeah, if you're wondering about the worlds my characters live in, this next picture set is gonna be for you!
Might do some more sketches after that to keep in practice with the more fetishy bits. Might also weigh the idea of starting a comic as well. We'll see what the future holds.

Sorry about that art dump
General | Posted 7 years agoDidn't quite realize just how many pages of sketches I had gotten from
Moorph until I decided to upload them here. But yeah, enjoy 23* pages of silly antics from my various characters!

It's a new year...
General | Posted 8 years ago...And with that, a new start! Coming up with resolutions for this year has been a tad tricky as I initially had no idea what I really wanted to do or work on. Even now, I'm drawing a blank on much of anything; it feels like this is going to be the kind of year I just coast through (or that could be the holiday burnout talking...), but I think I've finally got at least one resolution, and it has to do with the recent activity and posting I've been doing here:
Draw more.
It typically takes me weeks or months to do a reference sheet or a picture, and I want to work on that, but that's more of a side goal. My main intention is to do more art pertaining to my world arcs (and maybe do some diaper-related artwork along the way; haven't forgotten about that!). I still have 2 more characters to draw for "Red" yet before that drafting is done, and following that, I'd like to do group pictures for both world arcs, though that may be a rather daunting task. Alongside that, I want to at least set the stage for both worlds: lay out world events, character abilities (these are somewhere between superpowers and mutant powers), story settings, that sort of thing. I still doubt I'll get to fully telling either world arc's story, but I can at least try. My hope is to someday start on a comic for one (or, if I'm daring/motivated/bumfuck stupid enough, both) of the arcs to fully flesh out the characters in it and get these stories out of my head and into a physical format.
So yeah, that's the resolution. Let's see just what I can pull off this year (here's a hint; it's probably not much, but I can try!)!

Been on a bit of a drawing binge
General | Posted 8 years agoSo yeah, I've drafted up 7 different characters so far alongside my fursona (and there are 5 more to come yet), and I'm rather surprised at how much I've been using my tablet lately. It does take me awhile to actually get a drawing done (some of these ref sheets have taken me weeks at a time to do), but I'm very happy to finally be bringing these characters to life. As for the world arcs, they've got their own stories to go with them (along with... well, let's call it a sort of superpower/mutant power addition to the world itself), but I simply haven't found a way to properly convey these worlds; drawing a comic series is completely out of the question due to my sluggish speed and perfectionist attitude, and my writing (while typically well-laid-out) can easily run on for far longer than it needs to (and also isn't immune to my sluggish speed), so chapter-based stories are also a bit out of my current grasp. Along with that, I have the whole superpower thing to lay out to give context to some extra bits of backstory for the characters, so there's still a lot of work ahead of me.
For now though, I'll keep pushing forward on my character sheets; I at least have those laid out to a degree that I know what I'm aiming for. In addition to the "Uncivil" world arc's Neo, I'll also be adding 4 more characters to the "Red" world arc; a snow leopard, a rule-63 variant of one of my "Uncivil" characters, a bunny (or jackalope; still up in the air on that), and most likely a tanuki. Stay tuned to see them come to life!

Gettin' Back Into Drawin'
General | Posted 15 years agoI've been rather bored lately, what with being unemployed and whatnot. So, if I don't nab this job cleaning oil from the Gulf Coast (which will net me more than enough cash to live on my own and do all kinds of random stuff whenever I want =3), I'm going to try and get back into drawing again.
Maybe, if I get a bit better, I might start doing requests; see how everyone views my progress. Would be nice to be that good. =3
