I was looking through this gallery for some old art of mine for an improvement meme, and I ended up noticing a few comments and the like of people saying they missed me or wondering where I went, so I decided to leave a new journal to let everyone know.

I'm alive and well, if you were wondering. I've been busy with a new life in a new town, new school, new friends, all that jazz. It's been really great for me.

I'm not really a part of hte furry fandom anymore (not because I dislike it, as much as I just kind of grew out of it.)

I have been doing art still, and I still do commissions and the like, and while I don't draw my own furry characters much anymore, I still am happy to draw them if I ever should be commissioned or the like.

So I've been thinking lately that one of the reasons I just don't get into art anymore is I don't really know what direction I'm going in anymore

I think it's about time to took a fresh start. Make a new account, work on refining my style so that it's definitely mine and not just a mixmatch of various styles I've picked up, and go back to my original roots of fantasy art.

I've forgotten my love of art, I've forgotten what it means to me and why I like to do it. I need to find that out, and I think the first step in doing that is starting all over again. Fresh new characters, fresh new stories, everything. Go back to elves and dragons and half-human/half-animal type creatures.

I'll still draw furry, sure. I love my furry art as much as the next person, but, I do feel I need to get back into the other realms of art as well...and in all honesty, I've really been wanting to do a bunch of art related to my world of warcrraft characters so that could be a good lead-in to more original stuff.

Anyway, I'm not even sure the point of this journal, I guess it's just a future warning of me getting a new account and what not. Once I have it, I"ll be MAJORLY cutting down on the amount of people I watch. right now I watch a ridiculous amount of people and have to sift through 1k+ pieces of art a day, and I just can't handle that! Soooo, I'll only be watching the artists who I truly admire and the artists who are good friends of mine, and that's probably about it. Don't know why I'm telling you that either. I guess I"m just rambling now.

Anyway, feel free to respond, tell me what you guys think. give advice even! I don't know. I just hope to hear from my friends on their thoughts :)

Well, really, the simple truth is, I gave up. I got tired of everything, and I'm not saying this for sympathy or pity or for you to give me asspats and try and make me feel better. I'm simply telling the truth.

I have not felt like working on art, I have not felt like writing stories, hell, I barely feel like RPing most of the time.

It's not gone. I still feel this way, but it's starting to ebb a little. I'm starting to feel myself WANTING to draw something, and that in itself is a wonderful, wonderful sign.

So please, everyone who still gives a damn, be patient, someday I will return, and with luck, my return will be triumph and stick.

Hey all. As some of you may or may not know, I've been without a job for almost 2 months now, and it's really starting to wear thin. I keep trying and I'll keep trying, but oh well, this isn't about that. This is about the fact that I'm trying to sell some of my older how-to-draw books to try and make a little extra-cash.

I have no pictures of them right now, but I can assure they are all in amazing condition, and if you should want a picture of them I can takes some if you ask. I'm sure if you look up the titles in google you can at least get an idea of what they look like and what not :)

I'm tired of being such a failure at life, I really am...

I wonder where I turned wrong. I wonder where I started making none of my friends want nothing to do with me, when I started to only date people who apparently are invisible because I never see or hear from them, where I went wrong that no matter how many applications I put in, no matter how hard I try to be friendly and nice and decent in interviews, that I get no job. I'm just, tired of it all.

There is very little that gets me up in the morning anymore. I can't get myself to draw, because I have nothing to inspire creativity in me. I struggle to smile at people, and I can't stand looking at myself in the mirror.

When did I turn into such a loser? When did it start? I wish I could have a redo, just one, go back in time before I started royally fucking up my life.


*sighs* sorry for the emoness, I'm just really stressed. It's been so long since like anything good has happened to me, and it just seems no matter how hard I'm trying to bring myself out of this funk, nothing seems to be working.

*trudges off to hide in some hidden little corner and cry*

So, I've kinda run into a bit of a problem, lately. I've been thinking about the fact that I am going to go back to college to get an art degree, and while I'm really, really hoping the state college that I'm going to isn't going to make me show a portfolio to get into their program, I can't be 100% certain as well, and I want to build up some pieces (some traditional, some digital)

the thing is, I don't want to just throw a bunch of anthro/furry pictures at them, because I don't know, I'm not ashamed of that, not at all, I just need more diversity. I need more fantasy art, some real life stuff, various things like that.

So, gimme ideas! Just throw any ideas you can think of. completely made up, or characters of yours, or characters of mine, or I don't really care, just throw something at me, help my creativity kinda open up.

Once I catch up on the few pieces of art left I have to catch up on, I am going on a small hiatus for a while, long enough to get a good size of various pictures done that I can show should I need a portfolio, or even just to have once I'm in school should teachers want an example.

So...yeah. I'm really wanting some help brain-storming, folks!

I would like to remind everyone that this isn't a FREE ART thread. I'm not going to just pick the first 3 people and use their ideas or anything like that. And your better off giving me random ideas of characters that aren't yours or mine or anyone else, just to keep a generic theme going (so I don't have to use any disclaimers or things of that nature) I just need help brainstorming. I may take a bunch of ideas from your comments, or I may take none, you never know. Just throw as many as you can think at me!

This is something I have struggled with for many many years, and I've gotten no closer to the solution. sometimes I think I may have caught onto something only to end up feeling the same way about it as every other attempt I've made (that it's bleak, lifeless, and just plain no good.)

There are so many of you out there that do such beautiful, amazingly crisp and clean lines and I'm just curious, how do you do it?

I've tried hand-drawing them, they always turn out shaky and uneven.

I've tried using illustrator's pen tool to do the lines. They turn out lifeless and bulky.

I always try to put in varying thickness to the lines, but it really never comes out, should I try a more drastic change in the thickness instead of just one or two points? Would that make a difference?

I've tried doing the "color the lines the same color as the object itself" method, but it always comes out looking terrible. Is there some art to doing this correctly?

I've tried using the same method in photoshop (pen tool) and tapering off the ends of the lines myself, and if anything this has given me the best look overall, but still doesn't look anywhere near as good as I hoped it would.

So, over all, what am I missing? Is there some integral important part of doing lineart that I just am not getting a grasp on? Or am I just doomed forever to have icky, lifeless lines that don't stand out at all and just look bland as all hell?

So, I got some new toys in the mail today. A new 20" widescreen LCD monitor (thanks to my mother. We made a deal that I'd give my father my 19" LCD non-widescreen if she got me this 20" one.), a new logitech thumball mouse, and some actual working speakers! This is a valid question, people. something I've been thinking about for a while. With all the crazy fetishes around on Fa (baby furs, vore, fatfurs, watersports, ect ect. Whatever floats your boat and fills your fancy) I'm just curious...what is it that makes you like your fetish so much, while it may make other people completely and utterly disgusted?

I'm not here to make fun of anyone, and truthfully, while I find some of the fetishes out there completely and utterly absurd, I don't condone those who like just as much as I wouldn't want to be made fun of for my fetishes.

If you don't want to opening admit what your fetish is publicly that's fine. Feel free to note me your answer, or just kinda give me some sort of generic, simplified answer that won't actually tell others what your fetish is. But as I said, I am NOT here to judge, I'm just curious what makes your mind tick and why you like the things you like.

And I guess since I'm asking this, I should answer it as well. First I'll let you know that I'm mostly pretty conventional, I don't have many "extreme" fetishes, and a lot of fetishes kinda irk me (watersports, scat, fatfurs, sexual babyfurs [although actually non-sexual babyfurs are adorable], vore, and hyper/macro to name a few.) but here's a little list of the things I consider my fetishes and what it is about them that makes me so happy.

1. lesbians/girl-on-girl - While I am bisexual and love both male and female, there is something about two women together that is purely amazing to me. Nothing gets me more aroused then two women kissing, fondling, and just enjoying exploring each other. I find women to be the fairer sex in many ways, specially because of their curves and most definitely because of their breasts and soft, smooth skin.

2. Tentacles - What can I say, I'm an old-school hentai loving type of fool xD I find it somehow erotic watching girls (and sometimes guys) getting attacked by some sort of creature with multiple appendages. If that makes me weird, I dont' care. You guys like some pretty fucked up shit as well, I consider this pretty tame in the realm of fetishes xD

3. Crossdressing - It's pretty simple. I love seeing people dressed as the opposite gender, it's fun and exciting, specially when it involves drag shows <3 I wouldn't mind trying it myself in person if it weren't for my large amount of curves, shapely ass, and large boobs xD

4. Long hair on guys - haha...I really don't know if this counts as a fetish or not, but all I can say is long, well-kept, clean hair on men is so highly attractive to me that it's not even funny. Long hair on girls is sexy as well, but doesn't quite have the same effect on me for some reason.

5. Forceplay - I guess in some terms this could be called "rape" but I don't want people going around thinking that I personally want to be raped, or condone rape in any way. I know quite well the terrible things that come of being raped, and I would not wish it on anyone in real life. My characters on the other hand? Maybe you'll hate me, but I love seeing my girls (and sometimes my boys) raped on occasion..I'm a cruel, cruel person I guess. I think this is the only fetish that I'm kinda wary on admitting, but you know what, I don't really think it makes me a bad person to find this erotic. Hell, I've RPed rape-situations with exes int eh past, and it can be hilariously fun...the real thing? no, not at all. I know that first hand. Also, it's only MY characters I feel this way about. I don't go around saying or thinking I want to rape or see other people's characters raped, and most definitely don't think anything of the sort of real people. I hope this all made sense?

That's a hard question, there are many great artists out there. I really couldn't just name one, haha.

I am a huge fan of anime, although the older I get, the less chance I really get to watch new stuff and I'm probably no where near as into it as I was in high school. As for favorite series, it's a hard question because I've seen over 200+ series, more then half of them being really good. I guess some of my all-time favs would be Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, and Utena.

I love cartoons and comics. Currently my favorite is Code Lyoko :)

Nope, I want to draw in a way that is my own style and nobody elses. Sure, other artists inspire me to draw better, but I've never inspired to be anyone but myself.

I have a small collection going of how-to-draw books that I hardly ever use. I just like collecting them xD

Plenty. There are many artists out there that use their skill wrongly and hurt those around them...but, I guess you can find people like that in any facet of life.

When I'm forced to draw something I'm uncomfortable with or when I can't draw something the way I envision it to look like no matter how hard I try.

When someone really enjoys the art I make them, and when something comes out the way I want it to or even better.

Sorry for breaking your heads with my wall o text!

After much thinking about it and searching my feelings, I have decided that I do not wish to move to the new account at this time. I'm gonna keep it around, and maybe find some use for it (or maybe switch to it in the future if some reason to arises)

I guess I didn't realize until I starting thinking about doing this how important Shirei is to me, actually. She is more then just a character, somehow. There's a lot of connection to the character that I can't quite explain. I don't think she's my fursona, but at the same time, she is? I think her and Akrysta both share the same sort of spot in my heart, and it's too hard to really just pick or choose one.

So, I'm staying right here where I belong :3

I'll be changing my profile info a little to clearly state that Akrysta is my fursona and that Shirei is my namesake, as it is, and hope that people don't get confused about it. If they do, oh well.

Anyway, thank you so much to everyone who responded about this. I very much appreciate your support and any continued support in the future.

I'm considering switching to a new account. Yes, yes, I know. "Again?"

This is just a consideration, I haven't fully decided if I'm going to or not. I HAVE made the account () but it's not a 100% thing if I'll switch to it yet, gonna think on it some more.

The reason for this, though, is because I'm getting kinda tired of people confusing Shirei as my fursona, why my fursona is Akrysta. So this change would merely be so I no longer confuse people with having a fursona that isn't the same as what I use as a username.

It'll be a hard decision to make, though. Shirei is a fun name to go by, but, I've changed names in the past so it's not like it's nothing I"m not used to.

ANYWAY I want to hear input from my watchers. Would you follow me to the new account if I made it? and would you be angry at me for switching on you? (although if doing this makes you angry, I'm not sure what to tell ya, haha.) Do you think it's a good idea to alleviate some of the confusion about Akrysta/Shirei and who is my actual fursona?

Anyway, that's about it for now. Hopefully I get a lot of responses, I really would like feedback from at least some of my 305 watchers xo

Just wanted to post a journal to let you know that I am doing my best to get the art done, with a job and my other social things, it's been hard to get myself to work on art (plus, I'm having trouble motivating myself sometimes)

but, I promise that I haven't forgotten any of you, and that I will do my best to get your art done soon as I can.

Thanks everyone who gave me suggestions, although the race I ended up picking isn't actually any of the ones suggested, but was thought of after getting a few ideas in my head from the comments others made :)

The new character of mine shall be a albino Clydesdale (type of really pretty horse)

Now, I want everyones opinion on this. Should it be male or female? I technically have more female characters then male, but at the same time, my only other albino character is already kinda "male" so maybe a female would be good just so I have one of each spectrum.

Oh well, you guys really dont' have to give me any ideas if you want, I'll probably figure something out after doodling the character for a while. Just trying to decide gender.

Will probably go female, though. *formulates some ideas in head*

Due to some random youtubing the other day, I've rediscovered my love of albino creatures. (I just think the all white fur and red eyes are the cutest thing ever xD) so I want to make another albino character (my first one is my herm albino mink boy, Joel)

Anyway, I want an albino as well as something I don't really have much of. I have tons of feline, canine, and lapine characters, so I feel the need to branch out further into other venues.

Give me some suggestions, people! Include links to the critters if you can, visual aid can help me pick something even more :3

Anyway, I don't know if I want to make it female or male yet, probably male since I have less male chracters then female, but who knows, I do loves me some girlies, and my other albino is kinda male-ish (he's a herm, but associates as a male)

Sooo, I've gotten highly addicted to the french cartoon series, Code Lyoko recently, and I wanna do some semi-sorta fanart of it (not the actual characters, but people cosplaying as the characters) and I need people for this.

I ONLY WANT PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THE SHOW AND LIKE IT. NO ARTWHORES JUST LOOKING FOR FREE ART!
